Another evening, another genuinely pleasant experience.
This time, a Persian acquaintance introduced me to one of his favourite restaurants, and given that I am writing this review, you already know which one it is. From the moment we stepped inside, the experience began well. Immediately to the right was a beautiful flatbread baking station, a focal point that added warmth, authenticity to the entrance. Just beyond it sat reception, where we were greeted promptly, courteously by a friendly member of staff.
I went to wash my hands while my colleagues waited to be seated. The washrooms were moderately clean; however, the approach could have been tidier, the pathway more clearly defined. This is not a complaint, merely an observation that would enhance first impressions.
Upon returning, we were shown to our table. The restaurant was around 30–40% occupied, with a gentle murmur of conversation creating a relaxed, contemplative atmosphere.
Naturally, our resident expert in Persian cuisine selected the dishes. Before long, the table was filled with kebabs, lamb shoulder, soup, saffron rice, another rice dish with green beans. We also ordered a fresh juice, carrot, apple, one other ingredient I cannot quite recall. What mattered most was that it was cold, fresh, vibrant. Freshness is paramount for me, this delivered.
The lamb shoulder was moist, generously sauced. The saffron rice was abundant, beautifully presented. Every dish arrived warm, visually appealing, largely satisfying. There was one green hued dish, possibly containing herbs, cubed meat, that was not entirely to my taste. The meat was somewhat firm, under seasoned, I am still negotiating with a few persistent fibres. A minor blemish in an otherwise enjoyable spread.
As often happens, conversation flowed freely. Being an only child, I lack the competitive urgency around food, by the time I returned for seconds, my clearly hungrier companions had done admirable work. No harm done, what I did enjoy was excellent.
The staff were attentive without being intrusive. At one point, they thoughtfully added an extra table to accommodate the growing spread of dishes, a small but appreciated gesture. We finished with tea described as mint, though it leaned more toward green tea in flavour. Interesting rather than traditional, still enjoyable.
Overall, a very good experience. The company, the atmosphere, the laughter, the hospitality, particularly from Mo, all complemented one another beautifully. This feedback is offered in the spirit in which it is intended, positive, constructive, appreciative, with minor room for refinement.
A warm thank you for a memorable evening.
