"Located in the same shopping center as Ha VL, Beijing Hot Pot sits at the opposite end of the interactivity spectrum, well-suited to group dining. With broth wells built into the tables and a range of meats, vegetables, and dipping sauces, the table will quickly fill up with various accoutrements to allow for a highly personalized, improvisatory experience. Parties can — and should — opt for multiple broths, with original, spicy, and vegetable available." - Alli Fodor, Nathan Williams

"On East 82nd, Beijing Hot Pot is no-frills in its approach, but those who visit will find hand-made noodles and dumplings to dunk in classic, spicy, or vegetarian-friendly broths, plus house-made chicken and fish balls. Beijing goes for the classic build-your-own hot pot add-ins; however, those seeking some guidance can choose from pre-set hot pot sets, like the seafood lover with head-on shrimp and squid or the beef special with flank steak and meatballs. Dipping sauces include a sesame sauce and a chile-crisp-like option." - Eater Staff

Google
Now this was a wonderful hot pot experience. Everyone is talking about the spicy broth because it is the very best! We got the half and half with spicy and the nourish broth. Hot pot for two fed us very well, the chili crisp was so flavorful, i could not stop eating! I will bring my friends and family next time. I could not be happier!

Google
The staff here was so friendly and attentive. The broth is the best I have had at any hot pot place. Large portions at a very reasonable price. Absolutely perfect

Google
The menu offered a variety of fresh ingredients, including thinly sliced meats, vegetables, and an array of dipping sauces. The hot pot broth was rich and flavorful, with options ranging from mild to spicy, catering to all taste preferences. I was really pleased with the selection, and the place left a lasting impression with its authentic flavors and inviting atmosphere, making it a must-visit for lovers of Chinese cuisine in Portland.

Google
Love that it’s family owned and a cute hole in the wall. Food was delicious and honest. Noodles were delicious! My spice level tends to be very high so the spicy options weren’t spicy at all but still VERY tasty (broth and hot chili oil). That being said, if you don’t have a high spice tolerance, I’d invite you to try their available options! :)

Google
Extremely delicious, huge portions. Their hot pot for two is enough to feed three, which makes it’s price a HUGE steal. 100% recommend, instantly a classic we’ll be returning to when we’re in the area.

Google
Don't be worried, this place is the real deal. The four of us newbies went in Hot Pot rookies. We all maybe had just a YouTube for reference. Our hostess gave us the lowdown as we were intimidated. The ceramic top in the middle of the table. The smell is probably gonna overwhelm you. The lingering smell of something you can't quite pin down, greatness. The spicy broth is so frickin perfect you will question things. Like why are my mouth and lips simultaneously spicy and hot at once but I can't stop? Why is everything tasty spicy? Why are there so many edible mushrooms that taste good spicy? Then after the flurry of questions in the peak heat of spice, clarity. It subsides. The spice wanes. You realize you have more to throw in the Hot Pot. No alcohol and I think that's a good idea. You're already burning your table mates with scalding broth as you battle over Bok Choy and thin strips of delicious pork and beef. Your spouse becomes your enemy, your broth spoon becomes your ally. There are no friends at the Hot Pot it quickly is realized; there are only obstacles in the path of Hot Pot enlightenment.

Google
Beijing Hot Pot is fantastic. The broth was tasty, the portions were generous and my partner and I loved our meal. We did the Hot Pot for two and we couldn’t finish it all, there was so much food. Cannot wait to visit again.

Google

Yelp
Drinks: - N/A Food: - I got the half & half nourish and nourish spicy broth. Let me just go ahead and say that the broth from this place is really good. Normally when I got to hot pot places the broth is just too salty or heavy but this broth was really lite and palatable. After the meal I didn't feel heavy or bloated. I liked the bean curd sheet, quail egg, oyster mushroom, enoki mushrooms, vermicelli noodles. The chicken meatball was okay, but I could've gone without it. I also really liked the dipping sauces they gave us, if I remember correctly it was black vinegar, sesame sauce, and chili oil. Ambience: - This place is kind of a hidden gem tucked away in the back of a parking lot off Division - The décor gives off a small family business vibe - Lots of red furniture covers and old ancient antique style wooden panes Overall: I liked this place. I kind of wished the meat quality was a little bit better, but it was really good still. I liked most of the ingredients we got for our hot pot. The broth was so good and so lite, it didn't feel like there was much msg or processed ingredients in it. I'm a fan, and would definitely come back.

Yelp
I love this place. Normally we went to another hotpot place in Beaverton but here it's different and interesting place to try. Noodle was very soft and yummy. You can choose 2kind of soup spicy or none spicy. Only one girl working but she was super friendly and quick service. We went there September last year for my friend's BD . The restaurant is nice decorated. I'll go back for sure with my family:)

Yelp
Great dining experience! We came in on a Thursday night and was sat immediately with only one other table occupied. There seemed to be only one waitress busting her butt to keep us happy and fed but she did a great job! We explained it was our first time trying hot pot and she explained everything to us expertly. We ordered the combination for 2 for $35 with the half and half broth. Many people on here complained of small portions but we personally couldn't finish it! The handmade noodles were delicious. The spicy broth is REALLY spicy (trust me I can handle spice and this had me sweating) other than that, a fantastic experience. I also ordered a cucumber salad which was delicious and refreshing. The only thing I wish was different about the experience was maybe more differing flavors. It would be great to have a few different types of sauces. Other than that, a great time!

Duy N.

Yelp
Really nice little spot on 82nd street. No frills place. We got the standard meal for two and didn't add anything extra. Handmade noodles. The chicken meatballs stood out. Pretty satisfying meal. Will be back!

Zhi Y.

Yelp
This place is full of surprises but not in a good way. It's possibly one of the worst hotpot place in Portland. I can't believe this place would get anything higher than a 2 star. Its humid and muggy inside with average tasting broth. The bone broth were bland and the hot broth were overly spicy. We ordered "hotpot combination for two" but the amount that came out was not enough for two adults. We left the place still searching for the next meal. $34.95 was the price we expected to pay. Price came out to be $40.95. When we asked about it, they said there is a 6 dollar charge for broths. We were not informed nor written on the combination price that there is a extra charge. Don't expect your water to be filled since the waitress will be on her phone. Vibe: 2/5 Taste: 2/5 Cleanliness: 2/5 Value: 1/5 Service: 1/5 Parking: 1/5

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed our Hot Pot Combo for two ! Food was plentiful and delicious. Restaurant was clean and the waitress was attentive and helpful. Will definitely be back !

Yelp
I want to start this review by saying this was probably the worst dining experience of my life. The moment you step foot into the restaurant it feels like you're in a steam room. It's super humid and there's just tons of condensation everywhere, including the floors so be careful! Server said it would take 20 minutes to seat us, no big deal for a Friday night. Then I overhear the group next to us complaining that they'd already been waiting for over an hour when the server originally told them 5 minutes. Yikes! Should have probably walked out the door when I heard that, but my uncle had been wanting to try this place so we waited. Poor server was working the entire restaurant by herself so we tried to be mindful. She sat us within the 20 minute time frame so we were pretty hopeful it would be a good dinner! Boy were we wrong.. She started taking care of the bigger group ahead of us and kind of just left us sitting for 20 minutes before finally taking our order. From there we waited an additional 53 minutes for our first dish to be brought out and 1 hour 17 minutes total for our last dish. There were only 3 tables in the restaurant by then so the wait for food seemed a bit excessive, especially given the fact that none of it is actually cooked beforehand. For 3 people we ordered: Half and Half nourishing and spicy broth: Broths were just okay tasting. Nothing special. Spicy had a good amount of spice but no actual flavor. They charge $3/person for broth. Rib Eye Beef 8oz: There's NO WAY this was 8 ounces.. the beef was super tough and chewy. Definitely not worth $20 for 8oz. Lamb 5oz: Because the lamb slices were on the bigger side, it felt like we got more lamb in our 5oz order than beef in our 8oz order. Lamb was definitely the winner of the night - tender and tasty. Handmade dumplings: These were definitely NOT handmade. They were frozen dumplings from the market. Nothing special about these at all and definitely not worth $11 when I could get a whole bag of these for $5. Handmade noodles: These were also noodles bought from the market. If they're going to charge $6 for "handmade" noodles at least get the better quality ones. Vegetable basket: Very small amount of cabbage, bok choy, and romaine lettuce for $7. Mushroom Basket: also a very minimal amount of mushrooms for $9. Definitely not worth the price. Handmade shrimp balls: These looked and tasted handmade but were made with too much baking soda leaving a very squeaky after thought. Sauces: It says sauces include a sesame sauce, beijing sauce, and spicy sauce (first serving free). We asked for all 3 and it came pre mixed with all 3. Sauce didn't taste like it had sesame or spice in it at all. Asked the server for some chili oil or chili sauce on the side but that never made an appearance. It did, however, make an appearance on our bill. The bill came out to just under $90 because we didn't want to make a second order and be subjected to another hour plus wait. We came in hungry and left hangry. Ended up going down a few blocks to a local brewery to satiate our hunger. Will most definitely never be back for hot pot!

Alli S.

Yelp
A little weird in my opinion. Service was good and the food was okay but the hot pot... odd. Clean restaurant but the food was not enough for such a high price.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant tucked in a small parking lot- but no problems finding a parking spot. We were sat down immediately and waited on very quickly. The hot pot experience was really fun. We enjoyed most of the food we ordered and even had some left over to take home.

Brianna D.

Yelp
Loved in, tried it in Paris and then tried hot pot back in oregon and it was sooooo good. Plus way better pricing than Paris. Was served immediately and explained what to do in a kind way. Definitely will come back

Siimii S.

Yelp
I'm obsessed! It's a great deal for hot pot. Like $35/2 people or something. The service is great. The place is decently clean, and I've never gotten sick. The spicy soup is super spicy so watch out! It's totally delicious:)

Victoria S.

Yelp
I have so much love for Beijing Hot Pot! Me and my sister are regulars here and always appreciate the kind young woman working the front and serving there. The nourish broth is refreshing with a deep flavor and the spicy is also good although some days it is a bit too spicy for me. I see some complaints about portions here and while it's not ayce we find ourselves stuffed when we order a la carte. Fresh veggies and meat. It can get a bit steamy inside the smallish restaurant, but hey, it's hot pot. I am always satisfied when I get that hot pot craving and stop by here.

Su-jen Y.

Yelp
I would give this place a 3.5/5. Soup base- the spicy one is just spicy not too flavorful. The non spicy is also not very flavorful. The hot pot is not the super authentic kind since they didn't use coal to heat. The pork dumpling- the pork is too salty but otherwise tasty. The vegetable is ok. Noodles is ok The meat is nice, I like the lamb because it didn't have a lot of lamb game taste. The shrimp balls were good, very fresh. In general, the ingredients are really fresh and good. But the soup base was bland. They are severely understaffed and only has one person working everything so the wait is long.

Jeff H.

Yelp
Food was okay, expensive for the price tho, not the cleanest looking restaurant but it's clean enough for me to enjoy a meal

Mong V.

Yelp
Great service! Great food! I came from California and love hot pot, and this spot taste just as good as the best hot pots in Cali!

Alina V.

Yelp
The service was good but the food was alright. Soup base was plain/bland. Don't think I'd come here again

Prima B.

Yelp
Wow. What a great find. Food was authentic and product of love and hard work. We came in on a Saturday night and it was fairly busy. The staff/owner was honest to let us know that there was a wait. She seemed to be the only one getting the orders and preparing them. The other staff helping her was attentive, accommodating and helpful. The food didn't disappoint. We enjoyed how fresh the dumplings and shrimp balls were. The soup was flavorful and not salty at all. We will definitely come back. Our favorite hot pot in town.

Alex B.

Yelp
First time here and will definitely come back again. The food is definitely delicious and everything is hand made from scratch by the owner. Just fantastic food and service. There is a wait time especially when they are busy but the definitely food made up for it.

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Truly a hole-in-the-wall kind of place because it's definitely hidden in there. A friend has been raving about this place and been pushing me to try it out, so I finally did. Location is "eh". Tight and limited parking spaces. Visually, the place is like your typical cheaper Chinese restaurant, minus the broken door that they were fixing. Don't expect anything unique here. The food however was good. We came for the hot pot. We split it in half for base and spicy broth. The spicy broth wasn't actually spicy, but tasted better than the non-spicy one. The meats (we ordered all of them) was all great! Vegetables were fresh and paired well with the meats. Dumplings were another star. We had the vermicelli noodles, which also was great for what we had. Service was a bit rushed, but slow, as conflicting as that sounds. Our server (who was also the only one working that night), was in a rush with everyone as expected, but delivery of food was on the slower side (also expected). Not sure how often this is the case for the restaurant, but it was for our case. It's not the best hot pot we've had, but definitely good for the money and we felt like we had an authentic Chinese hot pot taste. I wouldn't mind coming back again if in the area.

Amanda J.

Yelp
I'm a big hot pot fan, always go to Beaverton for it . The only reason I was stop by here is because the traffic was bad . It turn out this is the worst experience I've ever had ! First I only ask for one hotpot combo for two people, but by the end of it she had me the bills result is showing two orders ! She said she made mistake order two . Besides that hot pot taste is not good at all! The meat is not good ,hard to eat, shrimp balls not refresh . Definitely never come back again !

Amber C.

Yelp
I love this place. It's worth the wait. Just go there and hang out. There might be one person working, and chilling there with a book or just enjoying the anticipation is the way to roll here. I love going here on a really cold day and then really enjoying the food. I like to go alone. But it's also good as a group. It's especially good as a special occasion pick me up. I love all of the items, especially the tripe. I love the regular broth and shrimp balls and meats and veggies. I can come in feeling out of sorts, wait a while, and then savor the food and come out feeling really different and better. It's definitely a treat, and I love that it's tucked away and hidden. There's a nice little parking lot if you're driving in, too. The owner is really nice and loves what she does. She works at the pace of real time. As in - real things take time. I love that. Thanks, Beijing Hot Pot!

Emily M.

Yelp
Food that is delicious AND entertaining! We had such a good time ordering piles of food to cook in the delicious broth. The spicy soup will sneak up on you and it's worth it!

Sequoia C.

Yelp
the food is DELICIOUS, like the flavor of it is on point! The ambiance is very cozy, I loved all the signs on the walls

jack s.

Yelp
It was our first visit and we cannot wait to come back again. We had the best hot pot experience in portland and we left very full and happy. The vegetables and meat were beautifully presented and fresh. Bean curd strips and the shrimp balls are a must-order. Thank you Jamie for a wonderful meal!

Angel D.

Yelp
It's so cozy and quiet here. My husband and I had the most relaxing hotpot dinner here in the midst of our Portland stay. Beware that parking is really crammed and limited. Hot Pot Combo for two: We had half base and half spicy. The broth is really fulfilling. The base broth is pretty bland but the meats and vegetables really give it flavor. Their spicy broth was my favorite. Spicy broths add a kick of flavor. Our waitress came by often asking if we would like a refill. Their house made noodles were DELICIOUS! I wanted to eat just the noodles. It's definitely a great restaurant to stop by if you're looking to warm your tummy.

Philip C.

Yelp
This is the best hot pot I've had in the United States. Please be aware it's usually solely run by the business owner so wait times might be high. I highly recommend the handmade dumplings, and spicy hot pot.

Jen M.

Yelp
Fantastic food. The spicy broth is SPICY!! Ran by a women who clearly has a love for her business. The food is tasty, and fresh. The dumplings are homemade and delicious and I suggest you have the kitchen cook them so you get a crisp to it!

Brian L.

Yelp
Quantity quality deserves no one to visit. Not recommend this one at all. Foods are like instant junk food

Marie A.

Yelp
Long wait. One cook (owner) very rude. Her boyfriend was helping out and he was very polite unlike her. Not impressed with the food. And no it is NOT the best hot pot in the Portland area.

Billy Y.

Yelp
very untraditonal chinese taste. sour sourse for hotpot?as a beijingness, I was so pity about it. 2 star for renovation, looks like beijing local street restaurant.

Theo K.

Yelp
I'm a hot pot aficionado, I love hot pot. I usually prefer AYCE hotpot, but at this price it's the way to go. $26 for "hot pot for two people" and I left feeling extremely satisfied (you can also order a la carte). Got spicy and nourishing broth and they were both delicious. THE NOODLES OMG, the handmade noodles are worth an hour drive. Just perfection. They also make their own chicken meatballs. The service was perfect as well. Super sweet, attentive, always had our water glasses full. Really couldn't recommend this place more. Will be back again and again!

Flint K.

Yelp
We were looking for somewhere to eat inside, and found this cute spot. The food is AMAZING and fresh, and the woman running the restaurant was seating everyone at least 6 feet away which was great. It look a bit of time to get our food, but it was only because the woman was the only one there, running the whole restaurant herself! She was very friendly and brought us our immediately when she was free. Great deal on hotpot for two, will absolutely be coming here again!!!

Liz S.

Yelp
Used to be good when Jamie still ran the place, now the food has no flavor, and you get half the portion of what you used to get for double the price. On top of that there's now a charge per person after paying for each individual item.

Jacob M.

Yelp
I've been to Beijing Hot Pot a few times and this place is perfect, from quality food to amazing service. Last time I went in the owner remembered that my Partner and I had been in before (6+ months earlier). When I'm doubt, ask. You'll get told if you it's too much or if you should order more. Always get the side sauces. The food and service level has impressed me so much that we now will make it a point to visit at least once a month.

Brian O.

Yelp
This place will always have a piece of my heart. The food is always great and it's such a great experience. Does it sometimes take awhile to get service when they are busy. Yes, however the food it always spot on. They lady who works here usually is the only one working and she is always super nice and very friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough. The handmade noodles and chicken meat balls are great. We always get the combo for 2 then add like the potstickers. Which is a feast and we always leave happy and our bellies fuller than full.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
The soup was much much much better than the pictures looked. I am used to very rich soup base with all kinds of visible ingredients present, so I was skeptical about this place according to the photos posted by other Yelpers. It took me a long time to finally decide to go in. And man the soup base was good! The white broth was tasty with hints of many herbs and spices and bones, while the spicy red broth was just spicy enough but not overly spicy to overshadow the flavor of the food you cook with it. Great combo. The two person set was a very reasonable price for a good amount of food. We added a dish of potato slices because we like it in hotpot. That's all we had. The lady that worked there was super nice too. I always appreciate kindness.

Melody X.

Yelp
Bad service and food is not fresh and in small portions. Table is cracked. The broth was the only good thing about this place. Won't not recommend dine in.

M Z.

Yelp
First time here last night and will definitely be back again. Very authentic and this woman does everything from making the broth to preparing all the dumplings and veggies to serving the food. Everything was amazing- the noodles, meat, mushrooms, and broths.

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Food was great and the service was good. It's been a while since I've had hot pot so it was a nice late dinner.

Crescent M.

Yelp
A fantastic little place , a bit of a hidden gem at least for me , I always recommend to friends , don't go as often as I would love , its a place that feels... home like I can tell a few people are comfortable there like they've been going for years , great comforting food their broth is so good both normal and spicy and the noodles are home made if I recall .

Mark P.

Yelp
Nice people, great fresh ingredients you get to cook yourself and homemade noodles and shrimp balls! Check, check and check what else could you need? An ice cold Tsingtao, they have too!!!

R G.

Yelp
Great service, delicious food; see photos attached. The portions are hearty. Tea was fragrant and hot. Seating and restaurant decor is warm and tasteful. Glad we discovered this place.

Emily B.

Yelp
Omg. My husband took me here for a date night because I love Chinese food and holy crap it did not disappoint. It looks smaller outside and it's a little hidden but I love it because it's now a hidden gem. The broth was sooo good. Spicy was too spicy for me but my husband liked it. We had such a good experience we will 1000000% be back. The broth starts out so good but takes on such a good flavor the more you cook things.

Jane F.

Yelp
This is, by FAR, the best place in the Portland metro area to get hot pot. I mean, it's a steal! Get the 2 person combo and an order of dumplings and it'll be your meal for the entire day. It's delicious! The combo has a great variety, and as is the norm, you can get the regular and spicy broth options together. The noodles are toothsome and delicious, and take on the soup base flavor. I must admit, my favorite place was chongqing, if only for the variety of sauces for additional flavor. Beiohot pot has 1 or 2 sauces; I wish there were more. It does not affect my 5 star review - BHP is delish and reliable.

Maddie T.

Yelp
Soooo delicious and amazing, the woman working was very nice and hardworking. Marvelous service, hospitality, and of course the food was 10/10.

Amanda B.

Yelp
We recently moved up here from California and got our first date night out. Looked for a place with decent reviews and found this place. For a Saturday night, the place was not crowded. Luckily so, because there was one waiter doing it all. She was running to and fro but we didn't feel waited too long at any point in our dinner experience. She explained how the hot pot worked. The dumplings were delicious and I highly recommend them. The spicy broth has left my lips and mouth on fire even 20 minutes after dinner. We got half spicy and half normal broth, good call because we did half and half after realizing how "spicy" the spicy really was! Overall we had a great meal and will be back.

Jodi P.

Yelp
I am not sure why other people rating this higher- have they ever gone to other hot pot restaurants... !?!?? This place is major Meh. First I almost didn't go in because this place is in a weird back parking lot, it beckons to the subpar service and none attention to the food flavor. The broths are watered down and slightly salty. No umami richness or variation. The spicy broth is just bland broth with extra chili flakes. They gave us soy sauce for flavor and dipping ? No ponzu, no black vinegar, no sesame paste sauce... all traditional hot pot options. Its like they just don't care. Our waitress AWOL the entire the time. When she'd arrive in the dining room everyone scrambled to get her attention. She for sure does not want to work here. What is almost redeeming... the sparse kitsch interior and the variety of veggies (this is standard at most places). Sad this place was not better.

Linda T.

Yelp
Our friends took us to this little hidden gem, not many know about restaurant, located off of 82'nd just blocks away from Fubon. Their Hot Pot nourishing bone broth is amazing, so good that I ended up drinking multiple bowls of broth itself towards the end. You can choose between original, spicy, or both broths. They hand make their in-house noodles, dumplings, pot stickers, and meatballs. The texture was so freshly delicate and delicious! Their menu is a-la-cart, but we recommend getting the 'Hot Pot Combination For Two' which includes broth, dipping sauce, beef, pork, meat balls, noodles, and an array of veggies and tofu. This would be a great place to start and you can order additional items on top of that. I would say that their highlight is the nourishing bone broth and handmade dumplings and noodles! One caveat would be that they limit to one order of each of their dumplings/pot stickers for each table/party, since they only make a limited amount each day, so just keep that in mind. My husband didn't like the fluorescent lighting if anyone is sensitive to that. The hot pot bowls are quite small, so it doesn't fit too many food items at once. They do walk around with broth refills often, so that is always nice. Other than that, I would definitely come back with someone who doesn't mind the lighting and wants to have delicious Hot Pot broth!

Angela S.

Yelp
I am giving no stars because I wasn't even able to try it. It says it opens at 5. We got there about 5 minutes early the place was dark. 2 minutes after 5 a woman in slippers came and let herself in. Still no lights went on and no movement was seen. Waited for 10 minutes and called and no answer. Is this a real restaurant or a front for something else?

Ron R.

Yelp
The best kept secret in Portland! This is the best Hot Pot I have been to across USA. I should know as I travel 80% of the year for my job. I always look for Hot Pot restaurants and especially those elusive authentic ones. I have heard a lot of great things about Beijing Hot Pot, but it was better than all the hype. This restaurant is run by one woman who cooks and serves all the food. Everything is made by scratch by her and Wow; the flavors are amazing! You can tell she puts her heart and soul into her restaurant. I felt like I was eating at her home in Beijing. The broths (you get two kinds and I loved the spicy one) were very flavorful and all the meats and vegetables are fresh. Where she really shines is with her home made dumplings and sauces. You can try all the sauces out, but ask her to mix them how she likes them (just when I could not think it could get tastier!). Since she is a one person operation, allow some extra time. You will not be disappointed! Get ready for a home cooked meal you will not forget! RR
