As my time in SLC is coming to an end, my goal is to eat as much as I can at all the local joints before I head home where we don't have all these fun options. My sister and I were actually looking up dinner options last night while we were at dinner. We like to plan ahead. We wanted some chow fun, did some research and found Beijing. This joint is about 10 minutes away from our Airbnb. We pulled up, walked in and was in awwww at how pretty this joint is. It was bright, colorful and beautifully decorated. It's one of the prettiest Chinese restaurants I have seen in town. It was slow so my sister and I got sat right away. We ordered our hot tea and dinner at the same time. I got the chow fun with chicken. I was hoping for fried tofu but it wasn't an option. My sister got the chow fun special which came with chicken, beef and shrimp. We were sipping on our tea for a bit and our food was already done. Mannnnn did our chow fun look amazing! You can smell the char from the wok. The noodles looked chunky. There was a lot of chicken, sprouts and onion through out the dish. It was a beautiful plate of chow fun. The noodles were chewy and soft. The chicken was velveted so it was tender and soft. The sprouts and onion added a nice crunchy element to the dish. It was savory. It was a hearty plate of noodles and honestly my sister and I probably could have shared a plate. I ate about a third of it and still have a a whole to go box container for tomorrow. I will be finishing that box even if it takes a couple days to complete. It's too good to waste. The staff was really nice here. The venue is clean, bright and modern. The chow fun they pushed out today was stellar. It was one of the best meals I have had in SLC. I'm happy my sister and I found this joint. I'm supposed to come back in April. This will be a joint I'll have to hit up when I do. I'll have to get another plate of chow fun in in my short visit in April.

Heard about this place from a friend that said Beijing really knows how to do spicy and flavor balancing. I thought it was funny how the first thing I noticed when I walked in was that you could smell the spice! We had the General Tao’s Chicken lunch special, scallion pancakes, and a beef chow fun plate. The portion sizes are well worth the price and the flavors were all on point. We didn’t really find the General Tao’s to be spicy but I’m sure they have much spicier dishes that would knock me out lol. I’ve had troubles finding places in Utah with good beef chow fun, but this place definitely does it right! Overall, I’d highly recommend giving this place a try. The dishes we had give me confidence that the rest of the menu is just as good, or better.

Google
This Chinese restaurant is truly a hidden gem! The food is cooked to order, arriving hot, fresh, and absolutely spectacular. The General Tso’s Chicken was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of flavor and heat, the Lemon-Crusted Shrimp was crisp and delightful, and the Mongolian Beef was tender, savory, and to die for. Everything tasted fresh and carefully prepared. The atmosphere was calm—not overly busy—making it a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Without a doubt, this is one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic, delicious, and memorable flavors. Highly recommended 👌

Google
The food here was pretty good. It’s not the best Chinese I’ve ever had but I will for sure be going back. I really enjoyed the pot stickers and the spring rolls. The fried rice was different from most others I’ve had but I really did enjoy it. I suggest you try all three of those dishes.

Jack F.

Google
We tried the Green Bean Stir Fried Chicken and the General Tao’s chicken. Both had great flavor and the General Tao’s was the perfect ratio of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside although we may ask them to make it slightly spicier on our next visit. The restaurant and rest rooms were very clean and service was friendly. We were surprised that the menu did not include any combination meals and that they charge extra for rice. The only minor complaint was that they didn’t return my credit card when they brought back our bill.

Shenhs E.

Google
It can be open for business until 10 p.m., which is a good choice if you have dinner late at night. Except for the hard rice, all the other dishes are good. The waiters are polite and there are plenty of parking spaces.

Google
A chef recommended this place and it did not disappoint! I got a smorgasbord all for myself. The fried rice was perfectly cooked and a large portion I can eat all week. The sesame chicken was so crispy with an addicting flavor. The smashed cucumbers were so good, getting me to eat more veggies. The chicken and green beans were very good but I was very full and only had a few bites. Come check out this special spot for some delicious Chinese food.

Google
This is a really upscale smaller authentic Chinese restaurant. We enjoyed all the dishes but were a little disappointed we had to pay extra for rice, and that the $18 beef dish was mostly onions. Besides that, happy with service who continually refilled our water and everything was fast. The inside feels very modern Chinese and I enjoyed the cleanliness of the restrooms and restaurant. I recommend the fried buns with pork, but I wish they served it with something besides raw onions, perhaps some freshly spiraled cucumbers? Or maybe make it an option to have grilled onions with it. The chow fun was a very generous and a delicious size with plenty of meat, which the Mongolian beef wasn’t, it should have been called Mongolian onions with a sprinkle of beef pieces. The mapotofu is made with a numbing spice which we weren’t used to, it wasn’t overwhelming but I’d stay away if you don’t like numbing spices. The restaurant makes everyone feel very Chinese when the existing place settings don’t have forks. I’d suggest having bowls and spoons and forks for everyone, especially if they’re eating family style. The just plates was too American for me but the chopsticks was a redeeming factor. I’m leaving four stars because there wasn’t enough meat and we had to pay for rice.

Yelp
Tried this new place out and it was very good. Food was good and a generous portion. I had a lunch special that comes with an egg roll, two potstickers and rice. They were attentive and efficient and very nice. The place is clean and has about 15 tables and can handle a larger crowd. I will be coming back!

Yelp
Beijing Restaurant is my go-to Chinese restaurant in SLC. Tucked away in Sugarhouse behind some construction, it's best to drive North on 700 E and make a right by the Beans & Brews. After it opened, I brought a group of my friends to try out the dishes. The restaurant is clean and spacious, and the service is fast and friendly. My friends loved every single dish, with the green beans, cumin lamb, and spicy boiled fish as the highlight. I've returned and tried more dishes including mapo tofu, eggplant, Mongolian beef, and sesame chicken. Everything has been tasty with the exception of a couple inconsistencies. My only complain is that the green beans are sometimes stale and the cumin lamb is sometimes hard to chew. Definitely pay it a visit if you're looking for a great Chinese restaurant!

Yelp
Can't speak for the food, they wouldn't serve us. It's 930pm, my husband goes inside to check and make sure they'd be open to serve (closing time 10pm). Two guys at the cashier nodded their heads and said yes. My husband confirmed with them that this was not a to go order, and he would be bringing the family in. (I was waiting for him in the truck with our 3 kids.) It's 935pm. My husband comes back to the truck, so we can unload our family. (Unloading our family is a whole activity... but that's aside) anyway, we venture in. Now the guys at the cashier said "there's only 25 minutes left... we can do to-go." We are pretty bummed out. We are fairly frustrated. We are hungry... and so, yeah. Here's some feedback.

Yelp
Quick fast service- we ordered and food came out hot and fresh. The inside of the restaurant is cute and very clean. Servers are quick and friendly and very attentive. The parking can be a little tight since the plaza it's in had a lot of different places. Great portion sizes although I was expecting the food to be a little spicier. I do agree with other reviews that the general tao chicken was the perfect amount of crispy on the outside.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious dinner tonight!! My husband and I shared all the dishes, plus I had a cup of oolong tea, which they refreshed with more hot water. We started with #11, Szechuan Picked Vegetables. Very spicy!! They were good, but I might not order again. #54 Sautéed Shredded Cabbage was my favorite!! Spicy, but in a flavorful way. #58 Eggplant in House Garlic Sauce actually wasn't that spicy, which was okay since our other two dishes were spicier. We also got a side of rice. Even though the portions were fairly large, my husband and I were able to finish everything, I think partly due to the fact that all of the dishes were really light. A really refreshing meal! Beijing is beautifully decorated and the service was great!! I can't wait to come back and try more dishes. The lunch menu looks good too!

Yelp
This food tastes legit. I used to live in Los Angeles and would go to San Gabriel Valley a lot. I also just got back from China. It's one of the only places in Utah that tastes authentic. There are some American Chinese food options on the menu so if you're looking for something legit, stay away from anything with bell peppers. I love getting the cold noodles and the green beans. I don't eat meat and neither of these have meat. Green onion pancake was just ok. Highly recommend if you are looking for good Chinese food in Utah!

Yelp
They have Authentic Chinese food. Tasty food and great services. I have tried different Chinese restaurants in salt lake. This is definitely a hidden gem that I will recommend to all of my friends. Shredded pork with bean sauce: 3/5 Shrimp with salty egg yolks: 5/5 Stir fired pigs kidney:5/5 very tender Beef soup: 4/5 Stir fried pea shoots: 5/5
google avatar

Jade P.

Yelp
I think they toned down on the spiciness to cater to the average audience. It was way more spicy when they first opened. Overall not bad. Definitely would come back. Service is good as usual.
google avatar

Yelp
Staff is friendly and great customer service! Food was fast, especially when we were hungry on a Sunday!

Yelp
The food, as it should be is the main star at this joint. If you want as close to authentic Chinese food as you can get, try this spot out. Everything had such good flavor and quality. The inside is nice/decorated hip. Service was not great but the food makes up for it honestly. There were a bunch of servers sitting around but once we had our food, no checking on us or coming by to bring the bill/ask for to go boxes. I want to try other dishes but will be ordering the kung pao chicken and wontons again. The fish maw soup is prob the best I've had in Utah so far as well. The chow fun wasn't bad, but wasn't my favorite from everything that was ordered.
google avatar

Yelp
A-choy with black bean sauce. Second time coming here and it's still delicious! The plates come out hot and fast too
google avatar

Yelp
Great northern style Chinese food. All very flavorful and spot on to what we were expecting. We made the mistake and ordered a lot of fried meats and no "cleaner" dishes with veggies so it was a heavy meal. The eggplant was good, but pretty much sitting in a huge bowl of oil haha. The shredded pork dish with mantou was a table favorite (and we got it because other tables srpund us ordered it too). Service was SUPER fast for the first night of CNY. Inside was clean and confortable, with good lighting and decor. Overall, if you like Northern Chinese food, this place does the flavors right. But order wisely so you can enjoy a more balanced meal haha.

Yelp
THERES FINALLY A GOOD LOCAL SPOT!!!! I have been waiting to have a bomb Chinese food place (I've lived here my whole life) but every place I've tried has either been way too pricey or their food just isn't as good as you want it to be. Beijing Restauran takes the cake! good prices, big portions, and delicious dishes
google avatar

Selma K.

Yelp
Some of the best Chinese food I've had in salt lake. Appetizers and entrees were fantastic, can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Noel V.

Yelp
Beijing serves authentic and delicious dishes that truly capture the essence of Chinese cuisine. I ordered the Fish Fillet Golden Soup, Dry-Braised Green Beans, and Kung Pao Chicken. Every dish is prepared with Szechuan flavors and the natural richness typical of Chinese food. The Fish Fillet Golden Soup, served in a very large bowl, was a standout--the fish was incredibly tender and buttery. It's perfect for family-style sharing. The menu is extensive, with over 100 items to choose from. I can't wait to return and try other dishes like the sautéed intestines and seafood. There's so much variety to explore! Also, the restaurant is cute and clean.
google avatar

Manda H.

Yelp
This place was recommended as a top spot for authentic Chongqing chicken and mapo tofu, and it did not disappoint. They call it 'tofu in house special spicy sauce' so I might be misnaming something, but both dishes were delicious and packed with spice. There was plenty of food, so we ended up boxing the tofu, and it held up really well for leftovers. I'll definitely be coming back. The vibe was casual, with decor that gave off a traditional, warm feel--nice and inviting. The staff wasn't the most attentive, but we didn't have to wait too long for anything.

Yelp
Really solid, authentic Sichuan Chinese fare in the heart of the Sugarhouse district. Sadly, the ubiquitous road construction on 2100 South makes it a bit difficult to access, but it's definitely worth the effort. There is ample parking in a private off-street lot once you arrive at the restaurant. Fiery Sichuan flavors and an uncompromising authenticity (lots of offal on the menu) won't make this spot appeal to all palates, but if you love spicy food, you should eat here! I've tried the fried dumplings, mapo tofu, boiled beef and Mongolian beef and all were very good. The one notable miss were the wontons in chili oil---for some reason, the wontons were a gloppy mess and the chili oil lacked flavor depth. As others have commented, the prices at Bei Jing are higher (roughly $20-25) than at comparable establishments, but the quality and quantity of the food makes it still a reasonable cost. It's a new, clean restaurant and the service is competent, if a bit indifferent. I've made Bei Jing a regular in my dining rotation.

Yelp
Phenomenal Chinese restaurant, easily among the top 3 in Salt Lake. Skip the panda express dishes and get the spicy fish with pickled vegetables and garlic pea shoot leaves! Among my favorites is also the pepper chicken, but there's so much on the menu that it's gonna take some time to go through it all. Week-to-week there's a little inconsistency with how some items are prepared, but they're always good, and what's more: the takeout is always lightning fast! Like seriously, 10 minutes for a whole 5 dishes! Everything's priced right, the portions are big, and the place is open until 10 (pretty rare for salt lake). I don't think I could find a single fault that'd make me second guess going.
google avatar

Vy Van K.

Yelp
Great new Chinese restaurant with authentic dishes. There's surprisingly plenty of seating for what appeared to be a small restaurant from the outside. Parking is also plentiful. Service is efficient. We ordered the lemon crispy shrimp, the boiled beef szechuan beef and a chicken lo mein. The portions were huge but prices are on the steep side for Chinese food. The shrimp was essentially over $1 a piece. Hard to fathom when living in Houston, tx, it was rare to see a dish hitting $15. They also charge for the white rice which at most restaurants is included. It definitely satisfied my craving for good, authentic, Chinese food, but at a cost.
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
I would highly recommend this restaurant. We purchased the soup of fish and pickled vegetables, scallion pancakes and the liang fen. Everything was well-seasoned. The pancakes and soup were delivered hot to the table, as they should be. The decor is warm and the seats are comfortable. The service was very quick, and they take AmEx to boot.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice little find during our visit to Salt Lake. Service was quick and fast even though it was 9 PM in the evening and everything tasted fresh and delicious. Portions were huge!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a really upscale smaller authentic Chinese restaurant (won't find large circle tables for more than 10 people, mostly booths and some tables). I recommend the fried buns with pork (25), but I wish they served it with something besides raw onions, perhaps some freshly spiraled cucumbers? Or maybe make it an option to have grilled onions with it. The chow fun was a very generous portion with plenty of meat, which the Mongolian beef wasn't, it should have been called onions with a sprinkle of Mongolian beef (ha!). The tofu with special sauce was made with a numbing spice which we weren't used to, it wasn't overwhelming but I'd stay away if you don't like numbing spices. The restaurant makes everyone feel very Chinese when the existing place settings don't have forks. I'd suggest having bowls and spoons and forks for everyone, especially if they're eating family style. The just plates was too American for me but the chopsticks was a redeeming factor.

Yelp
We got the summer rolls, Tom Ka & the Chicken Pad see ew. The summer rolls were great, the Tom Ka soup was small for the price. The Pad see ew was a huge portion that's great for sharing but kinda bland tasting. Good atmosphere and great service.

Yelp
Looking for something a little different and fun to try while traveling in Utah this week and came across Beijing Restaurant nearby where I'd been shopping. With all the construction and the placement of the building it's pretty hard to spot. If you didn't know it was there you would probably miss it without online help or walking. Don't let the outside fool you. The vibe is pretty nice inside and more room that I'd thought it would hold. Service was ok, but not over the top. I think part of the issue was a bit of a language barrier. No biggie it would never deter me from trying something new. We were seated quickly, drink order taken and given time to look over the menu. Definitely some authentic dishes. Some I'm not yet brave enough to try. I started with cucumber salad which looked blah, but flavor was on point and cucumbers crisp. I typically order cucumber salad with sushi but this version had garlic. It was very good and portion large, our table ordered sweet and sour chicken dinner portion, pan fried pot stickers, broccoli and beef and black pepper chicken both lunch specials. I loved the portion size of the lunch special and that it came with a pot stickers and a spring roll. Flavor was on point. My cousin actually had to take a huge to go container home because her dinner portion was massive. I'll definitely come back to try other things on my next trip. I'm bummed o forgot to take other pictures when all the food got to the table because we were starving!

Judy H.

Yelp
The food was fresh and delicious Disappointed that rice was 2.00 and wasn't part of the meal , most restaurants don't charge extra for rice. The service was great and efficient. The pot stickers was delicious

Jack S.

Yelp
I ordered a " to go " chicken dish with vegetables. Four pieces of chicken and very limited vegtables????? I paid $21.00 for f-ing noodles??,??????
google avatar

Melody K.

Yelp
We ordered Classical Double Cooked Pork, Dry Braised Series Green Bean, Shredded Pork in Peking Sauce, Tibetan Lamb Chop, Egg Plant in House Garlic Sauce and it fed our family of just perfect. Very happy with the constant check ins by the employees and how quickly the food came out!
google avatar

Roselle D.

Yelp
I was disappointed. We ordered what we thought was good. Vegetable Lo Mein- tasteless and greasy. Generals chicken, Mongolian beef- all bland and tasteless. We were the only Caucasian people in there, and it's like they had to "dumb down" the food - no spice no flavor.
google avatar

Johnny R.

Yelp
The food is absolutely great! The service was amazing, you can definitely tell the owner is hands on. Tried some new items I've never heard of before and the aroma is just amazing! 10/10 we will definitely come back!

E K.

Yelp
The service was friendly and quick. The food came out fast, temperature hot, and fresh in taste and texture. We ordered the eggplant in garlic sauce. Not as spicy as other Szechuan restaurants, but good enough for Utah. The kung pao chicken can be made without the spiciness. The beef broccoli was good, the broccoli crisp. The cucumber salad was cold with great snap, good for the summer heat since we walked to the restaurant. The steamed wontons in spicy sauce could be better, they arrived a bit broken up. It was nevertheless a good dish. The only detraction was the boiled peanuts. Not a fan, but does not affect the overall review. Worth the short walk in the July sun.
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
This place is legit! Finding good Chinese food in Salt Lake can be hit or miss, but this spot absolutely delivers. We got the fried chicken, which had a great level of spice, and the cucumber salad, which reminded me of the one at Din Tai Fung--super fresh and flavorful. Everything was delicious, and I'd definitely bring my parents here. It looks like they just opened too. Lots of construction in this area btw!
google avatar

Chai S.

Yelp
Chongqing Chicken is disappointing. It's just popcorn chicken, not the traditional chopped fresh chicken.
google avatar

William B.

Yelp
One of the best Chinese places I've been to in a while. Can recommend the shrimp fried rice, black pepper chicken and the spring rolls. Only been open for about 5 months so check it out and you may have a new favorite place.
google avatar

Dan W.

Yelp
Delicious food! We got the lemon crispy shrimp, which had a light tempura with a lemon drizzle, as an appetizer/side dish as well as the signature fried rice and broccoli chicken. Would definitely come back if we're in the area again
google avatar

Brandon F.

Yelp
Shrimp in shrimp fried rice was rancid I still taste a dish watery taste an hour later... a solid zero...
google avatar

Sophy L.

Yelp
Food was super yummy and delivered right on time as estimated. My child enjoy the rice and we were happy the waiting time wasn't that long. Highly recommend it!

Paul H.

Yelp
We tried the Green Bean Stir Fried Chicken and the General Tao's chicken. Both had great flavor and the General Tao's was the perfect ratio of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside although we may ask them to make it slightly spicier.

Greg L.

Yelp
Definitely try this place. Loved the kung pao chicken. To the owner - please don't clean the tables with bleach while people are eating, the bleach smell is too strong and ruins the taste of the food.

Kingsley B.

Yelp
We ordered from here on Christmas Eve for six people for a sleepover. Everything was great, came out hot. Everyone was happy with the dishes and we ate family style so we were able to try a number of dishes. There were a ton of leftovers that were great the next day as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good authentic Chinese food
google avatar

Daniel D.

Yelp
I tried the Chow Fan and the Twice Cooked Pork Belly. They were both amazing. Definitely would come back here.

Kris B.

Yelp
This place is our new go to Chinese restaurant! Close to home and beautifully decorated. The service was excellant and quick. The waiter was helpful and kind ( he brought us spoons, we are miserable chop stick users). The food was hot and appropriately seasoned, you can order different levels of heat. I ordered Sechuan shrimp which was a little mild, but the shrimp were huge and fresh and the vegetables perfectly cooked. The menu is huge, I can't wait to try something else.
google avatar

Allen B.

Yelp
The server warned us that we were ordering very authentic food, we weren't scared. The food was delicious spicy and the most authentic Chinese food I've ever had. I'm excited to go back and try some more dishes!
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
This restaurant is excellent. I've eaten there three times and every entente has been fantastic. I highly recommend it. Plus it is very clean and the staff are courteous.

Wendy S.

Yelp
The food is pretty authentic spicy and tastes better than I expected. Glad to have some authentic Szechuan food in SLC finally. Will definitely come back.

Jim G.

Yelp
I loved the food.My favorite dish was the lemon crispy shrimp and the garlic cucumber salad. My server was super nice and calm. The seats was very neat and comfortable

Roxy L.

Yelp
We happened by this restaurant 2 weeks after its opening and were really impressed. Our first visit was on a Friday night, when we luckily got the last open table. We soon returned for takeout on a cold Tuesday night, when it was less crowded. Everything we ordered was delicious, with the meats tender and veggies cooked just right. Our favorite dish so far is Double Cooked Pork -- not too spicy though, so my husband asked for chili oil (which was nice and crunchy). Also flavorful were the Hunan Spicy Beef and Green Bean Sir-Fried Chicken. Even the free bowl of Chinese pickles was yummy. We ordered three dishes each night, and the generous serving sizes gave us enough for leftovers. The nicely decorated restaurant was sparking clean. The staff were friendly and efficient. So happy to have this new restaurant in the neighborhood! Beijing is located at the back of a new dining strip mall at the 2100 South and 700 East intersection, next to Cubby's, Dave's Chicken, and Red Fuego. There's plentiful parking in a parking lot just for the restaurants.

Alan B.

Yelp
Overall good food. On the spendy side for Chinese in an open casual atmosphere. Service was friendly and on point. Most of the usual suspects menu wise but we did find the eggplant hotpot to be up a notch in flavor. Probably will return but not in our regular rotation, price is prohibitive.

Di W.

Yelp
We really had a high expectation before going so we ordered more dishes than we actually needed. They are offering authentic Chinese dishes, but the tastes are really dish-dependent. Chopped chicken in house spicy sauce and fish fillet with Chinese green chili are good, but not exceptional 4/5. Dry braised series green bean is normal and a bit too salty 3/5. Sizzling pork intestines in house special sauce is not as good 2/5. Stir-fried pig liver and kidney in house special sauce is just bad. I feel the kidney is just edible and the liver has gone bad. We did not eat any liver after the first bite 1/5. And the steamed dumplings are not good either 1/5. If you want spicy Szechuan food, they seem to have authentic dishes. For other dishes, would not recommend. Just my personal opinion. The service is good.
