Le Bel Ami

"A few hundred metres from the seafront, amid the crêperies and other taverns, don't hesitate to bag a table at this charming, colourful place run by the proprietor of Le Donjon – Domaine Saint-Clair, a Michelin-starred restaurant in the upper town. Here, you can enjoy Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, starting with mezze (hummus/beef tataki, bottarga/kefta, aubergine or even ceviche with citrus fruit and fennel), before tucking into a superb piece of meagre, served with a vegetable tian and rosemary hollandaise. There is also a (small) wine cellar where you can purchase a bottle to enjoy here or take away." - Michelin Inspector

What a fabulous spot!! Walked in as we thought the menu looked really creative and we were both lucky and happy to get a table for 2 without reservation. The food is delicious, elaborated and simply outstanding. The “oeuf confit” was my absolute favourite. Only for this I’d do the 9h trip from home! Excellent choice - don’t hesitate!

Overall very pleasant experience. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, the food mixes french cuisine with Lebanese influences which results in a delicious combination. I recommend the hummus and the camembert-egg-truffle starter. Other than the food, the waiters were really attentive. Definitely recommend!

It is a really nice place to have lunch:) The staff is very friendly and nice, and most importantly they speak a pretty good English. The food was great! We took a lunch menu, unfortunately I forgot to take more photos, but the fish soup and the main dish were both really delicious! Tiramisu however was not really great: a bit watery yet at the same time the biscuit was dry. And the clementines on top did not really match the flavors suitable for tiramisu. But apart from that - it was all good :)

Wonderful dinner experience! From the food to the mocktail to the atmosphere I had a lovely meal here. I made a reservation but earlier in the evening it wasn't too busy. The staff were very friendly and helpful with picking out what to eat. I got the oeuf confit and my life has been changed by this dish.

This restaurant offers an excellent array of creative dishes, a light ambience and some excellent servers who are willing to seat a table for 5 even if they have accidentally booked at another restaurant of a similar name… bravo L’Equipe Bel Ami pour vos plats et merci encore pour votre accueil !

This was the only restaurant that was open on a Wednesday. My lamb was very soft and nicely prepared, the sauce had a bit too much alcohol though. The fish smelled a bit funny so we left that. The carrot puree was amazing.

Everything was perfect. The waiter was very nice and friendly and he was very passionate about the dishes and local products. A special mention for the tris of hummus, the one with red berries was unique. All the dishes were awesome, very high cuisine for very reasonable prices. We loved the natural and organic wine seleciont too. Highly recommended, and the waiter also speaks English. Thank you, we had a great time!

Yelp
This was a lovely lunch experience and the beautiful atmosphere topped it all off. Étretat has a hand full of restaurants but few that are visually charming like Bel Ami. Several others reminded me of Old casinos or remnants of the 90s. Le Bel Ami stands out from the pack with great decor and a small in-house wine shop in which you can purchase bottles of your favorites from the meal for the road. Note that restaurants are recommended for the weekends. During our lunchtime visit, I ordered the rabbit terrine (small plate), glass of Gerwürtraminer, shot of espresso and the grilled vegetables tapa served on a bed of ricotta. The whole meal was delicious and beautifully presented. Expect to pay around 25-30 euro for your meal including a glass of wine. My dinner companions opted for the prix fixe menu which included a tuna tartare that they really enjoyed. I recommend this spot if you're looking for a creative and cozy lunch or dinner.
