"The 3,000-square-foot space that was formerly occupied by Mad Hatter Bistro in downtown Birmingham has been reimagined into Bell Bistro, self-described as a modern American eatery. Behind the menu is chef Gabriel Botezan, a familiar name in the region’s culinary scene, who most recently helped to open Adelina in downtown Detroit, along with his wife, Gabriela, who also serves as the spot’s pastry chef. Bell is under the same ownership as Adelina, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan-based Cicero Hospitality Group. Expect highlights like a wagyu meatball, rigatoni alla gricia, steak frites, and more. Desserts include a parliament walnut cake, an olive oil cake bar, and a raspberry chocolate tart. The name of the restaurant is a nod to the building’s original owner, Samuel Oliver Wylie Bell." - Serena Maria Daniels

Absolutely loved it. We didn’t have a reservation and they were full. I think they saw the disappointment on our face. Then we got seated at the bar, which I love. The drinks were awesome, appetizers were even better and it went up from there! Salmon delicious!!! Amazing low or no additive tequila selection for her and a couple unique whiskey selections for me!!! We always play a game of guessing the bill and for once it was lower than both of our guesses!!! That made everything better, we will be back!!! Oh yes, our bartender/server Zach is amazing at what he does!!! (the meatball presentation looked better, I was super hungry and cut it in half before I took the picture, same reasoning for no picture of the salmon that didn’t last long enough. Sorry.)

Bell Bistro was an enjoyable place to go out with friends. The service was good and the drinks were flavorful. The menu isn’t that large but the variety is wide and most options have a unique twist. There is also an enjoyable ambience that is lively but not too loud. I went with the smash burger $26 as my entree (comes with fries) which was pretty good. We enjoyed the restaurant as a group and would not be opposed to going again.

First time to the new spot in downtown Birmingham with two other couples. We were seated a bit late waiting for other guests to depart from our table. No big deal. The place has a nice vibe totally different from the prior place. We ate on the main level. They still have the lower level for dining. I was disappointed when I looked at the menu as it had changed since even the day prior. I had been looking forward to the steak frites all week but, alas, it was gone replaced by a filet. I opted for the creole comfort instead which was very good with just the right amount of heat. My wife enjoyed her smash burger which was cooked a bit much for her liking but said it was still very juicy. Note to chef, ease up on the salt on the fries which were otherwise solid. Others on the group had pasta which everyone enjoyed. Several of us had a Caesar which was excellent and huge easily enough to be shared. Prices are reasonable particularly for Birmingham. One minor gripe....no bread service even for purchase unless I missed it. The room is very loud so keep that in mind if that bothers you. Definitely worth a visit and a good addition to Birmingham.

I’m not easy by any means. All the food and service here was exceptional. All this after being open two days. The lamb, octopus, tuna, and meatball appetizers were exceptional. NY strip perfectly rare. Shishito peppers were great. Cocktails were as directed. I am really looking forward to coming back Espresso martinis and espresso itself were perfect Olive oil cake and donut desserts were well worth it. Can’t wait to come back.

I've been here a few times, and I absolutely loved it! Randy & Shawn did a fantastic job with the place. The ambiance is lovely, and the decor (upstairs and downstairs) is impeccable. The staff here is awesome! The bartender was incredibly attentive, and our waitress Josephine took such good care of us, which made the evening amazing! Recently, I came back to check the food out. The Wagyu Meetball was absolutely delectable. I can totally see why everyone recommends it. The dessert was fab too. They served the Tiramsu in a Martini Glass.

I had a Chicken Caesar salad which was $30 so a bit expensive but good. The atmosphere is calm, we didn’t feel rushed but I went on a Tuesday night. Our waitress was happy and attentive. I highly recommend making a reservation!

Google
Absolutely fantastic experience! The food was incredible, every dish was full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and comfortable. On top of that, the drinks were top-notch, with a great selection and perfectly crafted cocktails. The service was friendly and attentive, which only added to an already great experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an overall great dining experience, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
The service was absolutely amazing. Hannah and Zach were outstanding! Service was fast and efficient. Good recommendations & everything was amazing. Food came out I got the bells smash burger and made a comment about the sauce and how good it would be to dip my fries in it (to my friend) Hannah overheard and within 2 minutes we had the sauce in front of us! Drinks were top grade! Highly recommend this place and if you can find a seat at the bar then you'll meet these two wonderful people!

Yelp
I was really excited to try this place after a few foodie Instagram posted about it. My fiancé and I checked it out early on New Years Eve. We were sat promptly as the restaurant was fairly open at 530pm. Our service was great and felt very attended to. I would genuinely rate my experience as a 3.5 stars out of 5 based on the food. The menu is bare bones. There's a few apps, 3 salads, 3 pastas and about 5 entrees. Based on the servers recommendations we went with the Campanelle pasta. This pasta was extremely disappointing. There's truffle tasted so fake, and the pasta tasted like a chef boyardee can. We also chose Mediterranean shrimp and chicken. This plate was pretty average at best. The 3 big pieces of shrimp were ok, but there was little to zero chicken in the dish besides a few tiny pieces in the rice/veggie mix. The rice was clumpy and there was little to no flavor. The food came out VERY fast which is usually a good thing but seemed as though it was more of a lack of quality that made it fast. The bright spot was the cocktails and music. Both were very good. I would come back to sip a cocktail and sit at the bar but would not come back for dinner. One additional note.. all of the Instagram posts had the frame TVs on. We showed up for dinner and none of the TVs were on even with bowl games on New Years Eve on. Disappointing!

Yelp
Delicious food with a cozy, private ambiance and friendly staff. It would be even better with a wider selection of dishes and desserts.

Yelp
Defiantly a good place to try once, I recommend trying their shrimp appetizer, Cesar salad and truffle fries. The drinks were great, I'd come back for a drink and an app. The tables were very close together so be open to eating with strangers.

Yelp
Cozy little gem, with friendly service, excellent food and creative drinks. Wonderful selection on the menu.

Yelp
This restaurant is an absolute gem! The lamb skewers are perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. The smash burger is incredible--juicy, crispy on the edges. Amazing food, great atmosphere, and top-notch service make this a must-try!
