The 21 Best Restaurants In Marseille - Marseille - The Infatuation

"This narrow restaurant is minimal in every way: warm lighting on blank walls, music pleasantly low, just a handful of wines by the glass, and seasonal ingredients prepared simply, as if the chefs just strolled around the markets on their way in and picked out what looked good (which is exactly what they did). Both lunch and dinner are prix fixe—starting from €39 and €55, respectively—three to six courses of seafood and vegetable dishes served on the kind of plates that make you check the brand. Pescatarians are safe here (the staff are accommodating in removing meat), but rarely is something strictly vegetarian. Reserve a table for lunch if you have a lighter appetite, and if you’ve got someone with you, share a four- or five-course set menu." - sophie friedman

"Behind wrought-iron railings, this handsome establishment ushers diners into a tastefully understated interior (white walls, parquet floors, wooden chairs and tables) and an open-plan kitchen helmed by Michel Marini and Kim-Mai Bui. This veteran duet (formerly of William Ledeuil, Christophe Moret, Gérald Passedat…) crafts a flavoursome, legible, delicate score with a Mediterranean spin and invariably dotted with herbs they pick themselves. Everything is steeped in crisp, expressive flavours, examples of which include lightly seared squid with a salmorejo sauce or wild seabass in fig leaves. The desserts are low on sugar yet highly addictive!" - Michelin Inspector

Quite possibly the best value for money, one michellin star dining I've had. The food was tantalisingly delicious, exemplifying elevated technical skills and quality produce. The asparagus, for example, was perfectly cooked and had a hint of pungent smokiness that made it special; complemented with a devine sauce and touch of cheese. The tuna was also perfectly seared and had a hint of spiciness from the green curry that didn't overpower. From the amuse bouche, appetisers to dessert, the kitchen was keen to please. Service was attentive and informative, going out of the way to explain the dishes in English. Really enjoyed our experience and would come back again in a heartbeat.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Belle de Mars in Marseille, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. This 4-course tasting menu exceeded all our expectations. The menu was outstanding, showcasing the chef's creativity and mastery of flavors. Each course beautifully presented and perfectly balanced. The service was impeccable. The staff were not only professional and attentive but also incredibly accommodating. As an English-speaking guest, I greatly appreciated their effort to explain every part of the menu in English, ensuring I could fully appreciate the nuances of each dish. Their customer service skills were truly commendable, making me feel welcomed and valued throughout the evening. I cannot recommend Belle de Mars highly enough. Whether you are a local or a visitor to Marseille, this is a must-visit destination.

This restaurant has a modern, minimalist and comfortable vibe. Appropriately, the star of the show here is the elevated preparation of the food. The menu is short featuring a choice of a four course or a six course dinner. Don't be fooled by the petite servings. Each is delightfully loaded with flavors. By the end, after the cheese portion, we felt pleasantly satiated. The service provided had a relaxed but efficient pace. Our server carefully explained each dish as it was presented. This was a very pleasant dining experience.

This was truly the most memorable meal I’ve ever experienced. From the inviting ambiance to the flawless, welcoming service, everything was exceptional. The cuisine was outstanding, compliments to the chef for an unforgettable dining experience. Each course in the tasting menu surpassed the last, offering a perfect progression of flavors. Thank you for your attention to detail and for creating such a beautiful memory. I can’t wait to return.

Small, quiet little place, serving the most delicious food. This has replaced the also excellent [R]Egal which we were very sad to see gone, but it made up for that loss with such a joyous eating experience. In perhaps a less popular area, but this means less tourists. We will definitely be visiting again!

Can't say enough good things. Food is great from start to finish (including the amuse bouche and sweets at the end). It's seasonal, creative and absolutely delicious. Staff is super friendly, took into account all our restrictions (pregnancy, religion) and we had a great time. On top of that, great value so don't think twice and go, we will come back for sure.

One of the best meals of my life. Extraordinary food inspired by the sea. A fish flan appetiser set a bar that was nigh on impossible to beat, yet an exceptional oyster course utterly smashed it. I don't even like oysters, but here the oysters were chopped and topped with a crème sauce served back in the shell. A small operation with limited ability in English, be patient and accommodating for an extraordinary gastronomic experience.

Absolutely loved this place, highly recommend it! Food was superb, clever and well executed, with fresh local ingredients at the forefront. As we are in Marseille, seafood was the star of the show and it was cooked to perfection. At 49 euros the four-course menu was also great value for money, and with the addition of some very nice amuse-bouches and petit-fours, four small courses were plenty to leave us feeling quite full. The place is small and cosy with a nice open kitchen, and service was smooth. We felt very well looked after - at the end of the night we asked if they could call us a taxi, which they did and even came out to make sure we got in safely, as the taxi was a bit late and stopped at the corner of the street rather than right by the door. For us, the quality of the food is always the most important thing, and as the food was excellent, the cosy atmosphere and caring service made the whole meal perfect. Merci beaucoup, c'etait magnifique!
