Bells Diner is a truly cherished establishment in our household. My husband and I frequent the diner both together and independently - adoring the cozy and welcoming atmosphere, incredible staff and amazingly diverse menu. What a treat to enjoy a fantastic omelette and top-tier bento box in the same meal! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Belle’s. We adore our weekly visits and look forward to a delicious meal with welcoming service every single time. Thank you bell’s team!

O dear Lord! If you are hungry, come here! When you walk in you get the feel of a "hole-in-the-wall" diner, and the nice people of Bell's Diner will not disappoint you no matter what you order! The food is so delicious I can't put it into words. Plus, it's a nice quiet, comfortable atmosphere to enjoy your food. I ordered the veggie omelet and hash browns. Now I'm too full to move. PLEASE stop by and give this A2 diner a try.

It’s an interesting place to try. It’s like a Coney Island with American cuisine but also with Korean cuisine instead of Greek. I can’t say they have a “superb” or “excellent” food and atmosphere, but they have a cozy homey feeling to both their atmosphere and food. I highly recommend this place if you can’t decide what to eat (they have a great variety of American and Korean menus) or want to try Korean food for the first time but don’t know where to start.

Google
Food is great. Such an interesting combo and all of it was so great. Will be back 10/10.

Family owned and full of life, love. and flavor! The staff were so friendly, the food was so fire, and my belly is a happy dude. Both the American and Korean cuisines were delicious, I will be back soon!

Google
I adore this little diner. Bell's Diner is on my list of valuable Ann Arbor institutions that would break my heart if they ever disappeared. It is one of my favorite places to go in town. I love so many things about it. From the cute cuckoo clock to the unique and wonderful sourdough breakfast toast, to the beautiful and kind-hearted hard-working ladies who serve the food in the dining room, to the stainless-steel coffee mugs that keep your beverage hot. I love the spiciness of the homemade cucumber kimchi. I love that when you become a regular, on random occasions the ladies might give you some fried mandoo as a little treat (if you are nice). The list goes on. Among my favorite dishes are the Japchae (comfort food superstar), BiBimBop, Spicy Chicken, the Kimchi (omg yes), Ramen, anything on the breakfast menu...it's all great. The burgers and sandwiches are awesome as well. And there are several homemade soup options and it is always excellent. It's a cozy, small diner near Stadium Hardware (another A2 institution) on Stadium near Liberty. Breakfast, lunch or dinner.... yes, yes, and yes! Go here and be happy.

Google
This is the first dining spot I’ve ever been to that did not include hash browns in the cost of an omelette. I had the veggie omelette and it was flat, little taste, and the green peppers were hard. Service was good and atmosphere fine for a diner. Don’t think I’ll be back.

Google
First time here for a late brunch/lunch and we enjoyed the food we got. It is a conveniently located diner with a small town family feel. I think it’s unique they serve Korean food along with the standar American diner food you would expect. We didn’t order any Korean dishes, but will have to be back again to try those. My husband enjoyed the homemade biscuits and gravy. I loved my tuna melt, which was grilled to perfection with the best crispy crunch on the bread. The tuna salad was delicious and tasted homemade. Generous portions and attentive service!

Yelp
A fantastic mom-and-pop Korean restaurant where things are still homemade, sushi as cucumber kimchi, even their gochujang! Yummmm! Unlike other places that through food together, the food here not only looks good but tastes good. Table service is attentive and caring. L The framed photographic art is from the same photographer and all themed toward flowers and hummingbirds. Tea pots and curios are quaint. Overall, the kitchen and dining room look clean and homey.

Yelp
Delicious! The food is priced at 16.99 but is worth it the portion sizes aren't bad and the taste is nice
google avatar

Yelp
So, you can't decide between diner comfort food or Korean? Why not both? Bell's Diner is a mom-and-pop diner that serves typical diner fare with the added bonus of Korean dishes, which are quite good. Choices abound on the menu and the portions are generous. The food was great, service was friendly, and what a great way to support the community by dining at a family-owned business.
google avatar

Nisha N.

Yelp
Quick service, attentive waitstaff. The food was fine, but nothing spectacular. Wish the corned beef sandwich had something more than just bread and meat. The bibimbap was tasty, however felt as though the variety of veggies was lacking.

Yelp
I ordered bulgogi but I am pretty sure they gave me pepper steak, because it was in a pepper sauce and had green peppers. The quality was good but it was not exactly bulgogi, whether the order was technically wrong or not. Too spicy for me and bulgogi is not spicy at all. I am not sure why the bulgogi on the menu says it comes with vegetables, but the pepper steak clearly details everything it comes with. There are also 2 slightly different bulgogis on the menu, so I would imagine that can cause confusion when ordering. I did an online order for bulgogi and apple pie. They were out of pie. She said she would refund me in cash. Ok, but the tax was not refunded. Seems odd. I am sure there is a way to do a partial refund in the online order system. You cannot keep the tax on items you did not give out. I had also changed my order online and the note I made before did not disappear. So, they called and asked about the note and mentioned the pie and said they would not make the order until I called. Nothing prevented them from making the order. If I wanted to call, I would not have done an online order, and I was driving and had a busy day. I wanted it to be ready by a specific time and this held things up. I get the message that says the order is ready. I go in and she says 10 minutes. I tell them I got the email. She repeats what she said. Ok. They misplaced the order but did not tell me that. Customers appreciate honesty and not just telling them to wait with no explanation. Someone had placed the order on a table at the front and she did not know. She found it right away and gave it to me.

Yelp
It is family run, and unique. It's a mashup of a family diner and homestyle Korean food. The Korean dishes are amazing and I love the quality of the white rice. Hamburgers are also delicious. I also really like the chicken teriyaki. I love their Christmas decor right now--so festive. I honestly wish I had known about this place earlier because it's a gem, especially for Korean food. Omelettes are a bit different (than what you would expect at a Coney Island type place) and have the cheese on the outside. They are also a little bit flat rather than super duper fluffy.

Yelp
OVERALL We came in on a Sunday morning for a brunch and were quickly seated in a booth. It's reasonably-priced, quick service, and a very cute ambiance for those looking for your classic American diner or a diner with a Korean twist. It's truly a best of both worlds. Would definitely return! FOOD This is a unique Korean-American breakfast diner spot with an array of classic American breakfast fare and typical Korean entrees. Of course, there's options for fusion twists (e.g., bulgogi omelet or a bulgogi hoagie). We ordered and very much enjoyed the bibimbop and the bulgogi hoagie and burger. It was a decent amount of food and hit our brunch needs. The bibimbop was a great addition that's a rare find around here for breakfast at a diner. The flavors were good and there was a decent portion of vegetables and meat.... I ordered eggs over easy but didn't exactly get that and I expected the rice to be less wet. Otherwise, it was delicious! AMBIANCE It was relatively quiet and parking was simple! The dining area reminds me very much of an old home-y diner with meditative bird and nature sounds in the background. SERVICE We were offered water immediately and our orders were taken quickly. This spot offers a discount if you pay in cash and the restrooms are in the back kitchen where the cooking is done.

Lysa C.

Yelp
The standards for food around here must be low. I got a frozen burger that was a delightful shade of gray. My husband's breakfast had uncooked onion and there was absolutely zero seasoning. A side of 3 sad looking sausages was $3.99. Not sure how there are so many good reviews.

Yelp
Bells is an Ann Arbor institution. Korean food plus diner food and the service is great. No frills ambiance. My favorite is the jopchae and be sure to get a side of their homemade cucumber kimchi. So good!
google avatar

Suzanne B.

Yelp
More than 4 years after my last review, Bell's remains a solid choice. I visited recently for lunch, and my husband and I were able to be seated immediately. After perusing the menu, he decided on the Bibimbap, and I decided on the Jopchae beef. Our food was quickly delivered to the table, and we dug in. The portion was more than generous, and I took half of it home to have a second meal later. We paid in cash for a slight discount on our total check, before we headed out. It was a great spot to grab lunch and just as good as I remembered!

Yelp
A place where you can order Korean food and onion rings? And pancakes? Consider me an immediate fan of Bell's Diner. The food we ordered was incredible and the portion sizes were generous. The service was friendly and efficient. The prices were reasonable. The spicy pork made for incredible leftovers. Consider us fans AND new regulars.

Frank H.

Yelp
We went in on a weekday morning, more brunch time than breakfast time. Immediately greeted and seated and got waters. Pretty no-frills operation but super-attentive service. Our group ordered the bibimbap, pepper steak, large order of mandoo, a ramen and for funsies, a Coney dog. Was thinking about the bulgogi omelette but chickened out. We got our food pretty quick. Everything was good and fresh. The only thing that was off was the ramen. It wasn't great. But guess that's what you get for ordering Japanese food in a heavily Korean-influenced restaurant. Like the other reviewers have said, the cucumber kimchi is kind of addictive. It's an Ann Arbor institution. Now that Angelo's is kaput, there aren't that many old-time places left. Hope this one stays a while longer.

Yelp
I've been eating at bells at least 10 years The food is always been excellent. The service has always been excellent. I love Bells. I've never been disappointed in all the years I've gone there

Chelsea D.

Yelp
Absolutely a 10 out of 10! My husband and I, who recently came in from Vegas, love exploring new flavors in food. This place blew us away with its incredible taste and the service was the icing on the cake! Highly recommend! Nami we look forward to our next visit thank you!

Yelp
Nice diner atmosphere. I came on a Sunday morning and the whole place was PACKED. They have a lot of the classic breakfast diner options but I got the Bibimbop with brown rice which is part of their Korean selection. It's giant and I barely got through half. For the price, it was excellent and I would definitely come back when I'm feeling in a diner mood.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food! But I'll never go back The older woman server who walks around looking hateful and is continually rude--gave us her terrible attitude for the last time I'll go find good food elsewhere-where the server isn't RUDE every time we go!
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
Great Korean diner. Both the Korean and traditional diner menu are good. Corned beef hash is house made, not from a can. Bulgoki and bibimbap are delicious. Service is generally excellent.
google avatar

Merlin O.

Yelp
Used to be a go-to. Got take out last night and ordered the Japchae. Instead of the sweet potato noodles, I clearly got just glass or rice noodles and both my husband's and my dishes were bland and flavorless. 3 hopeful stars that this was just a fluke, but it was really, really disappointing.

Eleanor B.

Yelp
Service by a particular server, an older lady who needs to improve on her manners. and remove the scrowl on her face. I tiptoe around her awful attitude which lacks politeness and patience.

Annie A.

Yelp
Food is fantastic! Love the bi bim bop!! Kimchi is amazing as well, very fresh. Food came out super quick and the place is clean.

Roan S.

Yelp
Very cute diner, the bulgogi was simple and delicious and the staff were very friendly. Just a really pleasant meal and ambiance, and they even gave me a free side of dumplings at the end. If I'm ever back in Ann Arbor will definitely go back.

Yelp
I have driven past this diner a hundred times and finally stopped in today. This is the spot that started the Korea style diner menu. Why order a burger when you can have bibimbop? However, something for everyone. After speaking to the owner of 37 yrs., this was the joint which started the hybrid menu in the area. I had the bento with an American Korean blend. Choose your meat bbq and it comes with a variety of sides: salad, dumplings, and battered fish. Eclectic with variety. Look past the lackluster signage and dated furniture and relax in the vinyl booths. No shi shi here and it tends to be noisy. It has a loyal mixed lunch crowd. The stir fry pork looked tempting for my next visit.

Yelp
So delicious and cozy and the staff were very kind!!!! I love this place and highly recommend!

Yelp
I love bell's diner have gone a few times because this is the place my parents always went when they were young. The food is really good and I always enjoy the chicken fried rice. This place has some of the best oriental food in the area. The diner is always spotless and the they are friendly people.Overall this is a great affordable stop for lunch.

Yelp
Great Food... Spicy Pork, Mandoo, Bi Bim Bap... Always Good! Always Tasty! Always Delicious! Ajima is The Best! She runs her Kitchen with the flavors of Korea in each and every prepared dish! Service is quick, personable, and responsive each and every visit. The quaint homey atmosphere is quite pleasant and refreshing for family, friends, and co-workers needing a great meal and place to sit down and enjoy their experience!

Yelp
This place is open on a Sunday here in the AA, yay. I like to try out Korean spots here in the AA, since we don't have as many options by me. We decided to come this Monday on MLK day instead. Their tofu bibimbap looks yummy. The egg must be scrambled to be fully cooked. I do like how clean they keep it in here. We ordered the tofu bibimbap to go. It's $12.71. The tofu bibimbap looks so good! It would take 5 minutes for our order. The tofu was soft and plentiful. The cucumber kimchi that came with the dish was good on top of the bibimbap. I could have used a bit more gochujang, maybe a second container to cover the toppings and the rice too. The cabbage and carrots, bean sprouts, cucumber spinach and fried egg. It was a filling and bountiful bibimbap for us to share for us two, along with our other items from two other spots.

Dawn E.

Yelp
The elderly lady was rude from the minute we walked in. I had a SMALL travel stroller (because the baby is to young for highchair) and she said no room for strollers and embarrassed us but another server intervened. (My question is so how do you fit a wheelchair which more than 3 times the size of the tiny stroller.) The man and younger girl tried to seat us at a comfortable table but she moved us to a place where the baby had to have the stroller pushed partially UNDER the table. This fightened him and he started to cry and she started giving dirty looks. Within 5 mins of entering I asked them just to make my order to go and she was just as rude cashing me out. Got my food and it was honestly the worst breakfast food I ever got. Omelete had cheese on top of it instead of inside and they stuck paper to it so my ham & cheese omlete was a over cooked rubbery egg ham omlete. I dont know what they did to the French toast (made with white bread) to make it look like that but my 6 year old granddaughter took one bite and refused to touch it. I tasted it and can't understand how it looks brown as it tastes like bread soaked in water. Even my white toast with my omlete tasted like it was soggy.

Yelp
The service was wonderful, the staff is friendly and patient. Food was great too, especially given the price paid. I'd come here again, it's not Michelin star level but if tasty, home cooked meals are what you're after, this place does the trick.
google avatar

Yelp
Set next to a hardware store on busy Stadium Blvd., this Korean/American Mom & Pop is well known to local Ann Arborites for serving the best Bibimbap in town and arguably throughout the Detroit Metro area. Today I placed an takeout order for the "Bib" with beef, brown rice and a sunny-side. Served with Bell's house-made spicy fire of a hot sauce, it was a hearty meal that my taste buds will remember for several hours. Bell's Diner once again retains a solid 5-star rating for outstanding food and courteous service. The Bibimbap is clearly Bell's crowning glory.
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Ordered take out & can't wait to go back. The customer service was great and the food was fantastic! So many things I want to try next time. Definitely give Bell's a try!
google avatar

Bonnie B.

Yelp
This place is a cute little American/Korean diner. It has traditional American diner foods like burgers, grilled sandwiches, and breakfast. They also have a few Korean dishes, including ramen. I ordered the bulgogi hoagie. They give you 2 sandwiches with chips, pickle, and coleslaw for an amazing 12.99. Most of the menu items are similar or cheaper. Great food, great price, friendly service.
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
Great little diner that features a little bit of everything. One person had breakfast, one had a sandwich, another Ramen & Bento box. Love the food here. It was a slow night on the day we went but the service was speedy. Kind of an interesting environment with the bright fluorescent lights and no background music, but we liked it.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in ann arbor. Amazing menu with classic diner options and a full korean menu. Bibimbap is the best ive ever had. Good patty melts, corned beef hash, and everything else too.
google avatar

Suren K.

Yelp
This is a small mom and pop shop with a selection of American diner and popular Korean dishes. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it has a cute interior that gives a Korean restaurant vibe. The server was very nice and waited our table right away. My husband ordered bibimbop and I ordered a veggie scramble. The hash browns were mixed in my eggs which came by surprise. It came with toast. I feel sad to say my favorite part of my meal was the toast. My husband thought that bibimbop was just alright. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. I have mixed feelings about this restaurant experience. I wouldn't call it authentic Korean but it does the job for a quick bite to eat in a small and quaint place.
google avatar

J. Y.

Yelp
Used to like this place. Last time was the last straw unfortunately. Sat us right on top of the people next to us and were basically privy to their whole conversation. Brought me the wrong order full of nasty fatty chewy bulgogi. Literally a joke. Didn't come back around to check on us. Asked how it was only when we went to pay. Told her it was not good. Didn't seem to care.

Yelp
A little taste of Seoul right here in Ann Arbor! Out of all the places in and around Ann Arbor I think this one gets overlooked a bit. A mom-and-pop place offering American diner favorites and popular Korean dishes. It's small looking but they have a solid customer base and their food will speak for itself. Portions are very generous for price, I ALWAYS have leftovers when I come here or if I take it home. Everything we have ordered has been fantastic! Food was always hot, never had any complaints about anything. Take home or dine in food has excellent and delicious every time! Service was always friendly and quick. Even when they are super busy they let you know they are coming to you soon to check in and get you refills. They have online ordering, you can call in, come in and sit down and if you want to bring the kids that's cool too! It's one of my favorite things cuz if there's someone a little more particular about what they eat they can still join and have some decent fare.

S K.

Yelp
I have been going to this place for years. They have great food but their customer service needs work. There is a lady there that always has a scowl on her face and not very nice. I would let it go in the past because the food was so good. Recently I ordered pick up and the lady was so utterly rude. This will be the last time I order from here.

Yelp
Came for the unusual combo of Asian menu for moi, breakfast menu for hubby an all American eater 90% of the time, and close proximity to our Airbnb. The waitress was sweet, attentive and kept all drinks filled--5 stars for trying hard and fulfilling her part of a successful operation. Utter disappointment in the water-flavored ramen broth, a difficult feat given all the veggies atop the perfectly cooked al dente ramen noodles. Except for the (bulgolgi) beef nothing had any flavor, not the thin sliced radishes, carrots, onions green and white, spinach, mushrooms or ribbons of egg (which typically served and I also prefer as a soft poached whole egg). I asked for mild spice, instead I got none ha ha...Pass that bottle of gochuchang! A squirt of the red on each bite and soy sauce in the broth couldn't ease my $10.00 ramen pain however. I guess I just ordered wrong here as the bulgolgi and bibimbap seemed to be the bread and butter Korean Go-To's here. The mandoo I wanted to try were fried only, when you know Asians like to steam or boil everything, I had to pass on those. The spinach, ham and choice of cheese omelet on the other side of the table did my husband just fine. It came smothered in cheddar with tasty grilled ham within. Whole wheat toast slices were really small for bagged variety, just a note, it was plenty for Hubs to eat but like micro Bimbo slices. Hashbrowns were amiss though, seem like a natural and standard accompaniment for a diner, but not here. Coffee served in a double wall stainless mug, has an unusual chicory and barley flavor, similar to a blend of weaker chicory and Korean barley tea. I didn't mind it, but it wasn't jiving for the Hubby's brekkie, he barely got a mug down. Hold the ramen, embrace the Korean coffee and Bell's Diner may do the trick for you!

Yelp
We visited Bell's for the first time a few days back. We were attracted by their 'fusion menu' of classical American diner food plus Korean speacialties. We ordered Bibimbap & Japchae, both of which were excellent by local standards (we have lived in Asia for decades & I have traveled often to S. Korea). However, there is a server in the restaurant who seems to be unhappy with dealing with customers. I let it go - but after 2 or 3 instances of ignoring us when the place was not at all busy - I brought my unhappiness to the attention of the manager. The food was great, but why should we - unlike other seemingly happy customers - be treated differently? I promise that neither of us misbehaved.. I told the wonderful boss lady that we loved our meal but did not want to deal with Mme Grumpy again - what a disappointment!

Yelp
One of the most interesting places I have been to. Both the American style diner food and the Korean food was great. My friend and I got the hash and the bibimbap. The food was excellent for the price. Also the portions are a good size as well. The combination of American food and Korean food weirdly works.

Gordon L.

Yelp
Good bi bin bop, friendly service, handy location. We been going to Bell's for years and enjoy both their Korean and American food.

Yelp
I freaking love this place! Love delicious diner food? Maybe you enjoy a great burger or satisfying breakfast? Or perhaps your thing is more along the lines of pork dumplings, bibimbap, or bulgogi. Well, guess what? You can have it all. We can do that. We are the factory. Not we as in "we," necessarily... but you know what I mean. I mean the folks at Bell's Diner. They are the factory. Bell's Diner is a fantastic local gem that is no small secret, and for no small reason. The service is quick, the prices are great, and the food is not only scrumptious but eclectic and wonderful in its variety. You can get an omelette and Korean food side by side for the same meal. You can dine in or get quick food to-go. They have good hours and their own parking lot. And, once again, it's American Diner + Korean cuisine. How fun. How tasty! Bell's is a regular fixture in the rhythm of life at my place. Sometimes we'll drop in and grab a quick bite, but more often than that we'll phone in an order and get take-out to enjoy in comfies back home. Being vegan, and having spent time in South Korea, bi bim bap has pretty much become my definition of comfort food (there aren't all that many vegan dishes in Korean cooking). My partner is not an herbivore, however, which makes Bell's the perfect place for us. She can get breakfast or a burger, I can get some delicious tofu bibimbap (sans egg), and we can enjoy a top-notch meal together at an excellent value. I'm pretty much always in the mood for Bell's. If the question involves Bell's Diner, my answer is yes, and I think yours should be too.

Yelp
Bells diner had amazing food, service, and ambiance. We ordered two meals off of their Korean menu and were not disappointed. They had great fresh flavor and were served incredibly fast. The kimchi was amazing. The diner itself was spotless and had a wonderful bird theme. It was also family friendly
google avatar

Peter S.

Yelp
Such a gooooood spot. I usually get the jalapeño burger because it has enough vegetables in the burger to balance with the meat, and it's one of the better burgers which is interesting since I don't think Bell's Diner advertises as a burger spot. Their bibimbap is also really yummy! Highly recommend :)

Laura S.

Yelp
At first this place was great. Do not go there the owners and waitress are rude. When they get your order wrong they will not make it right. They told me that I can take stuff of my food and the egg was cooked wrong. The lady was super rude and we will not be going back. Buyers beware.

Joan O.

Yelp
I love to go here for brunch. Be bim bop is fabulous and you can always have breakfast anytime. The service is great and the food is always good.

Yelp
So glad to come back and enjoy this amazing food after the unplanned break from in-person dining. All of the food is awesome, but my personal favorite is the Spicy Chicken (I sub Tofu for the chicken). Lots of vegetables and tofu cooked to perfection. Don't miss this local gem.

Jack P.

Yelp
Excellent menu selection, including delicious Korean and American food, and generous portions with fantastic service! Bell's is an Ann Arbor gem.

Yelp
Come for the breakfast stay for the bibimbop. That's what my boyfriend and I had here on a Saturday afternoon. Me? Breakfast. Eggs, ham, hashbrowns and a biscuit. All basic but pretty good. Although the biscuit was a nice change of pace from the typical "white, wheat or rye" toast offerings most places have. It was HUGE and a touch sweet. And they serve it until they close. BREAKFAST ANY TIME!!! Anyway, it was good but not mind blowing. Basic in the best way possible. The real standout is the Korean part of the menu. My fella got the tofu bibimbop. I tried a few bites and really liked it. I think I'll get it the next time but I prefer mine with beef. It was quite a hearty serving as well. I think he barely made it through half. The space is older and it shows. It's got character, that's for sure, but the seating has seen better days. Someone mentioned it felt like a cafeteria and that's very accurate. But you don't come for the ambiance. You come for the food. In general the menu is half American diner food (not just breakfast) and half Korean classics. So, if you and your dining partners are hankering for burgers AND kimchee this is the place to be.
