The 11 Best Ice Cream Shops In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Below Zero is an Italian/Argentinian scoop shop on the outskirts of MiMo. It’s easy to miss from the street (and is pretty much just an ice cream display case inside) but the ice cream is very good. They have classic flavors like rum raisin and mint chocolate chip as well as more interesting options like stracciatella, cannoli, and banana dulce de leche. There are other good desserts in the freezer too, like frozen alfajores and mini ice cream cakes." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

The Best Things We Ate This Week

"Banana Dulce De Leche Ice Cream This week, I’m updating our ice cream guide in time for summer. And the Italian/Argentinian spot Below Zero is joining the list. This little scoop shop on the outskirts of MiMo is easy to miss from the street (and not much to look at inside either). However, the ice cream here is very good, and they have some great flavors like stracciatella, cannoli, and a perfectly balanced banana dulce de leche. There were other good desserts here too, like frozen alfajores and mini ice cream cakes. I still have half a frozen alfajor and a pint of stracciatella in my freezer, and I’m counting down the minutes until it’s a socially acceptable hour to eat both." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

Google
We love coming here and taking pints of ice cream home! So many unique flavors from Latin America. Everything is made in house and in small batches. They also offer protein ice cream, ice cream cakes, and dog ice cream. A must try.

Marjorie Munson

Google
The best ice cream in Miami! Get the flan with dulce de leche - it’s crazy good!! But truthfully all of the flavors are so delicious. Super flavorful.

Google

Google
I went with my boyfriend when they were almost closed and the owner let us in. We found out that he makes all the ice cream and he let us try the flavors we wanted. He was extremely nice with us and the ice cream was delicious! Probably one of the best I've had in Miami. Definitely coming back✌

Milen Garcia

Google
The absolute best and creamiest ice cream in South Florida. The coconut ice cream is the best I've ever had. I love that they have different flavors but they also have their set flavors.

Adela Mou

Google
Very inviting and unpretentious place that has really great South American ice cream flavors. This is where you should go if you want unique flavors but still a clean high quality ice cream without a million mix ins. The mango maracuya was especially good!

Trae Kerdyk

Google
This place is a hidden gem. I showed up expecting normal ice cream, but I was blown away. They make all the ice cream in small batches in house. Everything we tried was top notch!

Sage Blue

Google
Great home made and flavorful ice cream‼Went there with family, tried mostly all the flavors (which was good), and the pricing is affordable for everyone 🤗👍🏼.

Yelp
This is the kinda ice cream that people who eat responsibly but want to indulge from time to time should eat. It's made with real fresh ingredients like mangoes and bananas that you actually taste as though it's the fruit and not too much sugar making it very well balanced . The icecream has minimal preservatives and tastes more refreshing with its lower fat content and less sugar but is still savory and retains the ice-creamy nature . I've always wanted an icecream machine to make my own icecream and this icecream gave me a small insight into the possibilities. The owner allowed me to sample about 8 flavors of which I only didn't care for one . I preferred the mango & passionfruit and the flan flavors out of the ones I tried but it was a hard decision. In Highly recommend !

Yelp
There's a reason everyone has rated this place five stars. Add me to this list. First off, the owner (whose name I wish I had gotten) is incredibly super nice and open to explaining *all* of his flavors. The ability to sample -- which I'm normally not a fan of having people hold up everyone's time -- is suggested by him, which makes you feel less like a nuisance. Second of all, the ice cream is legit here. Awesome flavors (some unique to me), very creamy, and the serving size is generous. Plus, everything is one price. Do you want your ice cream in a cup, cake cone, or rolled waffle cone? It's all the same price, with no upcharge for a waffle cone, for example. I do want to echo what others have mentioned, and that the storefront is a bit concealed and doesn't scream ice cream. But ignore this, go on in, and try it out. You'll leave like a happy kid.

Yelp
Best ice cream place in Miami and kind of stumbled upon it while being close in the area and seeing the five star review on Google and decided to pop by. The owner is wonderful and was really welcoming despite us coming towards closing time. He let us try as many flavors as we wanted and was was talkative about him making all the ice cream in house and the latest flavor he made nocciola which was the one I got and my favorite. He was very generous with also filling the cup and like other places that don't allow more that one flavor for a small cup he does. All the flavors I had were great that it made my decision hard. You won't be diss appointed coming here. Can't wait to come back and try more flavors.

Yelp
We love to try new things when we travel. A friend told us to try this amazing freshly made ice cream in the heart of Miami, Florida and it is so good that it will literally change your life! Below Zero is the new standard for how ice cream should taste! There are so many unique flavors to choose from and we were blessed to be able to stop in and try them. You have to stop by this amazing gem whenever you visit Miami! The owner hand makes every tub of ice cream with love and it shows!

Yelp
This place, factually, has the absolute best ice cream in all of South Florida, and I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart. I've tried Azucar, Jaxson's ice cream, a bunch of places in Wynwood, and the other place at the Citadel and they're all good, but they're not this masterpiece. This ice cream is special, specifically the guava one (but they are all good). This ice cream is silky, creamy, thick, smooth, and extremely flavorful. You can taste the full bodied flavor and creaminess in the ice cream along with the thickness of the guava. Other ice cream sometimes taste watery, or have a lighter flavors that are 'watered down' or the ice cream is just not creamy enough, but not this one. Really, you have to try this ice cream to really appreciate how special this is. Also, the owner is very nice - absolutely recommend!

Yelp
Hidden gem- best ice cream in Miami. The owner is the sweetest and everything is hand made. Don't miss this place if you are in Miami!

Yelp
1) I appreciate a quality hole in the wall spot 2) Sampling selection was Delicious 3) One price for all everything makes it nice and easy I had cookie dough and butter pecan and they were amazing. I've been looking for an real, normal ice cream place for a long time! Only thing that's missing currently is a dairy free or vegan option for all those in the area seeking this

Yelp
While it looks a little sketchy from the outside, the ice cream was SUPERB and the gentleman who owns and makes the ice cream is so delightful.

Yelp
Okay let start this off by saying WOW!! This place was one of the BEST ice-cream shops in Miami. The owner works alone and offers amazing service by allowing you to sample any ice-cream your heart desires. Every selection I sampled was very rich and creamy it was amazing quality. You are allowed to get 2 flavors in a double scoop cup or cone and my sister and I decided to get the "Guava and the Dulce de leche". Let me tell you these flavors were NO joke!! I have tried many ice-cream shops in Miami but none compare to Below Zero. The complete total for 2 cups was $12 for two scoops and two flavors. Can't beat this quality and price, will deff come back here hungry for more.

Yelp
Sono un vero italiano e amante del gelato. Ho viaggiato in tutto il mondo assaggiando il gelato e questo è assolutamente il gelato più cremoso di sempre. il signore al banco è super gentile e ti fa assaggiare tutti i sapori cremosi.

Yelp
A total gem!! Top ice cream in town. All homemade. I've had dulce de leche, banana, peanut butter, stracciatella, Every flavor SLAPS. Gabi the owner is so personable, and I love even more that it's a small, local business.

Yelp
This is the best ice cream in Miami by far. Made with love like real craft ice cream should be. You can tell an artist is behind these flavors, and lucky for you he will let you try as many as you like. I drove by this shop way too many times before finally stopping by. Life changing.

Greg W.

Yelp
Best ice cream I have ever had. And I am an ice cream guy. Will definitely be back. Had the guava, banana dulce de leche, and key lime pie. All flavors I've never tried, and all delicious. Must try the alfajor also!
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Below Zero is so good! I had the creamy Rum Raisin ice cream after trying other flavors like cannoli, chocolate with dulce de leche, lemon and mango sorbets... all made in house! hard to choose because they are all delicious. Mr. Gabriel was very welcoming, thank you. I'm definitely coming back!

Yelp
After the first day of school the kids deserved a treat and we are happy we gave below zero a chance. They are a recent open in the area and with everything going on with Covid we are happy to support. The ice cream was bomb. Everything is made in house! A great selection of flavors from raspberry cheesecake, guava, banana dulce, Cookie Monster & so much more. Give them a chance. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Yelp
Quite easily the best ice cream I've had in South Florida (perhaps anywhere else?). The ice cream is homemade by its very friendly and kind owner in a quaint little shop near Mimo. Definitely try the banana dulce, raspberry cheesecake, and cookie monster. I would post pictures but every time I remember to take one, I've already gobbled down my ice cream. Will definitely be back.

Ivette V.

Yelp
Loved it! I enjoyed a Delicious Stracciatella & Cookie Monster ice creams in a waffle cone... Served by the owner with a great attitude and passion for his creations. Wonderful Saturday treat! We will come back soon!

Yelp
Hidden little jem. Right off Biscayne and 54th. The homemade artisanal ice cream is delicious. The owner has flavors that resonate with the locals. I had the guava. My daughter had the mango, passion fruit with flan ice cream. They were all delicious. Definitely a trip off the beaten path. So good.
