A hopping, local watering hole, the Beltline Bar serves a lot of Tex-Mex-like cuisine. Wildly popular, packed even mid-week, this food meets the needs of the populace with a bang!
I say "Tex-Mex-like" to be clear about the flavor profile you'll find here. Unlike the offerings I've tasted across Mexico, in Austin TX, and up and down California, this is sauced more with enchilada spices (ancho chili powder, tomatos, cumin, garlic, onion, and brown sugar) then I've typically encountered. Not bad, just different.
We started through the very extensive menu while chowing down on the guacamole & chips. Slightly less salty than I was expecting, with thin chips (unlike house-made from tortillas) none was left by tree time we ordered.
Lexy knew her menu, proffered good suggestions, and we were off!
The Big & Famous wet burrito, with carnitas instead of beef, was satisfying, cheesy, and filling. Ditto with the regular with ground beef. Not many beans, which may be how you like it.
The deep-fried ice cream was a great way to finish off the meal, the cinnamon chips a wonderful textural contrast to the chocolate and caramel!
Also very good things were said about the margaritas!
