Benesse House Park

We have good time staying here and visited many museums. Service is great and professional, there are not much to eat at night so we went in in door Restaurant. Heard that Jap menu would be more great but sadly we dont have much choice and went for Western menu. The Bar in door is superb!! Would come back in Autumn

Fantastic location, wonderful staff, excellent delicious buffet breaskfast, all in all a wonderful place to stay! IF you manage to book it, that is! One star off for the booking experience on the website, which is quite arcane and time consuming (even on their website it's a bit difficult to locate the 'availability slots'). And, once you have a reservation, good luck changing your mind about booking dinner/breakfast. The website english language is confusing: the options are 'change' and 'cancel' reservation--scary, I don't want to cancel this incredibly-hard-to-book-room!--and in the end neither work. Luckly, after some email exchanges, a real person responded by email and changed my res to add a breakfast. Booking this hotel took an inordinate amount of time and effort online, but it was worth it in the end.

Tadao Ando designed hotel - museum with a Sugimoto gallery in the basement. Friendly staff and professional service. Beautiful dining spot facing the ocean. Compared to the other Benesse house museum, the rooms are more pleasant. During hot summer days the Benesse house bus is a lifesaver to go around the island.

Style. Tadao Ando designed hotel, with several options in various buildings to choose from Setting. 3000 islands of the Seto Inland Sea, 400 km long body of water separating Honshu from Kyushu and Shikoku Explore. Naoshima Art Island Rooms. Room 1204 ( Benesse House Park, the most affordable of the various options ) was nothing to write home about, even though the view of the park and sea was stunning. Room is dated in general, and the bathtub was not inviting @ the hotel. Favorite experiences were being able to wander around the hotel grounds pre breakfast and post dinner, to look at all the amazing art and just enjoy the peace, and gorgeous coastline. The shuttle bus that runs most of the day was really handy as well Food & drinks. Was surprised at the cheap quality of the 8 course kaiseki dinner at Issen. I don’t remember the last time I was served cheap iceberg lettuce in Japan, the wasabi quaity was not good and the peach dessert tasted like it came out of a can! Student dormitory rooms, poorly maintained and not up to the Tadao Ando name. In the basement is a bizarrely places Sugimoto exhibition which does not really do justice to the highest quality of this top top Japanese artist. There are much better accommodation alternatives in Naoshima. The reservation system is also for foreigners an unpractical nightmare.

It’s a unique accommodation in Naoshima, but it’s extremely expensive—$600 per night at minimum—for a fairly simple room. While it does include some special perks like transportation and museum visits, that’s about it. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth the cost. I suggest staying at Uno Port instead, which is much more enjoyable and flexible, both during the day and at night. Plus, it’s only a 20-minute ferry ride from Uno Port to Naoshima. Of course, it all comes down to personal preference.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Felt like a real privilege - stunning location, beautiful art, amazing service and delicious food in the Terrace Restaurant. Hopefully next time we can get 2 nights as want to try both restaurants! Wonderful seeing the art at night.

I had a great time here. I booked last March 27. I actually booked the wrong dates last February, but they helped me sort it out so i could still stay when i travelled to Naoshima. It's a spectacular location. There is art all over the place. The hotel and the Museum inside is designed by Tadao Ando. It is located near the Benesse House Museum, Beach Wing and the Oval. The hotel also houses the Hiroshi Sugimoto Time Corridors. You can view it at night while you're checked in. There is a Japanese and French Restaurant located near the premises, but you have to book in advance.
