Benihana in Chicago delivers a great hibachi experience with delicious food and entertaining chefs, but the wait time can be a bit much. The steak and shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the fried rice was flavorful as always. The chef put on a fun show, making it an enjoyable experience. However, even with a reservation, the wait was longer than expected, which took away from the overall experience. If you have the patience, it’s definitely worth it for the food and atmosphere, but be prepared to wait!

I had an amazing time at this hibachi place, and our chef, Ardis, made the whole experience unforgettable. Not only was the food delicious, but Ardis really brought the heat with his skills and fun energy. He kept us laughing and entertained while cooking everything to perfection. You could tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and it made the meal that much better. Highly recommend coming here, and if you’re lucky enough to get Ardis as your chef, you’re in for a treat!

Not a bad wait time even with a reservation depending on party size. Nice atmosphere with a kid friendly atmosphere, I saw a lot of families. Very talented chefs will be visiting again soon.

It was a great way to get the night life started with a great meal and conversation. Celebrating my birthday in Chicago traveling from Detroit metropolitan area. Nothing but good things to say about the staff, food and service. They hit the mark with everything! Our host Shomon and Chef Roman were amazing! They made my day special.

Leila was our server, she was kind and attentive. My family and I enjoyed our time dining here, the wait was a bit long but the employees were accommodating and communicated effectively. We did sit in the lounge area, so we could feel the chill from the wind. The food was fresh and drinks were good.

A5 Wagyu is chef’s kiss 🤤 Thank you to chef Ardis for recommending the best way to enjoy it fresh off the grill. It was so flavorful, probably one of the best ones I’ve had. Excellent performance too 👏 Server Arturo was also fab. Great service and enjoyed our dinner 😄

The food was very delicious. Ardis, our chef did really well entertaining everyone and cooking the food exactly how everyone wanted. The only thing I'm really disappointed about is there was no egg yolk sauce/ golden sauce. It's my favorite part of hibachi. Seems a lot of places stopped making it anymore. 😞

Ardis was a great chef!! Our server Serdar was nice but it took a bit for us to get our food and drink… the kids loved watching our food being made! And the food was delicious.. we had the wagu .. it was a fun dinner!

We had a 9 PM reservation but weren't seated until around 9:35 PM, which was disappointing since we arrived on time. While we waited, we enjoyed great drinks at the bar. As a vegetarian, I found the food mediocre--specifically the tofu steak, which lacked anything special. However, my partner, who eats meat, really enjoyed their meal. One unique perk: if you ask the staff to take your picture, they'll give you a free print! A nice touch to end the night.

I have been going to Benihana on my birthday for more than 30 years. I've seen a ton of amazing chefs but Ardis is the man - handled a ton of different requests, made us all laugh and had the best moves. Highly recommended. Nothing better than Benihana on your birthday!

Watching him expertly juggle knives, toss food into the air, and create a show-stopping performance while preparing our meal was a true spectacle. It wasn't just a meal; it was an unforgettable event! The food was top-notch, as always, but the way Serdar elevated the experience was beyond what we could have expected. He made each dish with such precision and care, ensuring that every bite was bursting with flavor. The teppanyaki grill was sizzling with delicious aromas as he expertly crafted each item, from the perfectly seared steak to the succulent shrimp. What stood out most was how Serdar made everyone feel like part of the fun. Went to dinner at Benihana with friends on a weekend evening and had an Awesome Experience! Parking: since restaurant is downtown, suggested parking is street parking OR parking garage. I used a parking App and pre paid parking at a nearby garage (Water Tower Place Parking Facility). Upon arrival, the hostess takes a picture of your dining party. If you in a small party, you may be seated at same table with other small parties. We ordered: Appetizer: Edemame Drinks: Lemonade Entree: Trio of Beef, Chicken and Shrimp Dessert: Green Tea Ice Cream Chef Sergio and Hostess Valentina were excellent! Valentina anticipated the needs of the customer, was friendly and welcoming. Chef Sergio was charming, skilled with presentation and funny. I look forward to returing for my upcoming birthday. The experience was awesome which is why i think most people go there for. Staff were very friendly and inviting. Bathrooms clean and establishment kept tidy. Food is AWESOME and they have a kids meal as well.

The ambiance is always great unless you're seated by the grill. My go to is always the Chili Shrimp Roll with extra ginger (it's pretty spicy) and the hibachi rice no meat and vegetable with extra garlic butter. I've never had a bad experience with service with dinning in or pickup.

While in town for the weekend we wanted to do something fun for our granddaughters birthday. The first downfall was the location, it's very hard to find as it's located underneath businesses. The server was nice but slow, the food was mediocre. The chef was not as entertaining as other hibachi establishments we've visited, he did not speak to us or pop raw veggies in our mouth, no saki from squirt bottles . Probably won't visit a Benihana again. Boring

Visit the location and I would say it was good. Wasn't too busy so was able to sit at a hibachi table quickly. Nice portion size and chef did a great job. Waiter was cool. Definitely worth considering Great location to shop!

Ardis did an exceptional job and really took care of his food. The thing that really set Ardis apart is his care for the customer. My girlfriend had a shellfish allergy and Ardis took special care to clean up the flat top and make sure there was no cross contamination. He cleaned the utensils after every food cooked and took special care to make sure the food was delicious and safe. He made our Benihana experience extra special

Walked in exactly on time for my reservation. Proceeded not to get seated for another 45 minutes. Once we were seated the waitress who was the only saving grace in this situation, took our drink order and food order reasonably promptly, though the drinks took quite a while to come. We then had to wait over an hour for the chef to come to the table. The chefs performance was lackluster and missing some of the key components that make the hibachi experience memorable. The food was fine. Ultimately, I ended up asking to speak to a manager who took zero accountability for any thing and just kept repeating well we told you it would be a 15 minute wait because we're running behind when you checked in at the host stand. Like seriously? That's not marketed as over 2 hours to see the chef.

Both Dario and The chef Alexis were Wonderful! We Had a great time. The food was good as always and the kids had an amazing first time.

Valentyna and Adrien were amazing and treated us so well! Scallops and filet cooked perfectly and even gave us mustard sauce for the fried rice. Would come again.

My husband came for a date night tonight and decided to sit in the bar/lounge area. We had a reservation and were sat down promptly but that was the only fast thing about the night. We each ordered the $39 taste of Benihana and I guess the cheap price is what costed us to be here for almost 2 hours. It took 40 minutes to receive our starter soup and drinks. Another 20 minutes to receive our appetizer and remind the wait staff that we hadn't received our salad. Upon receiving our entree, the food was cold and had to call the waiter and let them know the situation. The food was reheated and even then it wasn't hot. At this point I was already hangry from waiting too long that I decided to eat the food. Food was a 4/10. Not sure when I'll decide to come back to this location after our experience tonight. To top it off, we weren't the only ones experiencing the situation, everyone in the area around us which was about 6 tables were experiencing the same situation.

We had an incredible dining experience at Benihana Chicago! The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The sushi was fresh, the hibachi was perfectly cooked, and the presentation was top-notch. What really made our visit special was the exceptional service provided by our server, Serdar. He was attentive, friendly, and went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. His recommendations were spot-on, and he made the whole experience even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a great meal with fantastic service, I highly recommend Benihana Chicago. We'll definitely be returning!

It's my birthday and I had to spend it alone as I live out of state and had work in Chicago. I received a birthday coupon to my email for Benihana so I was very excited and stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. The server Stephanie was soooo helpful and sweet and made the experience even more enjoyable. At the end when I presented my coupon she made sure to get me the discount and even brought me some free ice cream with a candle and sang happy birthday to me. Great experience

We sat at the bar for my bf's birthday... and Joseph was AMAZING. He was well educated on all the entire menu plus bar selections. He made our entire experience 10/10!!!

This was my second time to this location, and I came with a group of colleagues for dinner. The chef that prepared, our meal was friendly and funny. One of my colleagues received the wrong meat option, but it was quickly rectified. When it came time to pay they spent a long time trying to figure out processing the gift card we had but they got that done. We were supposed to get ice cream with our meal, the server, never came back to our table, after asking us what our choices were for ice cream. Because it took so long for them to process the receipt there was no point in asking for the ice cream as we were ready to go.

Benihana staff definitely made my birthday feel special. Food was great! (get the teriyaki steak). Our chef was comical and entertaining and made this experience what it was. Dario, our server, was attentive and made sure our drinks were always full and even brought out instruments to sing Happy Birthday to me. I will definitely make a second visit.

I came in to grab a drink and food at the bar. The bartender kept directing me upstairs to grab takeout. I told him I was more interested in grabbing a drink and a bite at the bar to which he responded, "I mean they have takeout upstairs". If you didn't want to serve me as a guest that's a really crappy way of doing it. I'll admit I was dressed pretty casually. To push me upstairs instead of being upfront is awful. The manager when I spoke to him didn't seem to care at all and was like well you can eat here. That's not the point- guest service should always be the main goal of the location but obviously it's lost here.

My experience at Benihana was nothing short of extraordinary! Our chef, Evan, was a true hibachi wizard, captivating us with his mesmerizing skills. ARDIS IS THE GOAT. He made sure we all were taken care of and that we were all laughing at some point of the night. I've been here before and he is by far the best chef I've ever had. 100% coming back just because of him. He saved the night.

Tonight's Benihana was excellent. We had wonderful service, but Aidan was truly exceptional with his knife skills today. All of our food delightful, and accommodating to our friends who are vegan!

I order in this night and I can say it was still good. I was disappointed that it didn't come with standard white rice but overall everything was really good. The flavors are flavoring but if it's too high in salt cutting with white rice would've been nice. I order hibachi NY strip & hubby ordered Sushi. We smashed. The aesthetics were giving and appreciate the bag as if it's a pick up order bs plastic weird ish. Thanks all. If I had my white rice they would've gotten 5 stars for home delivery

We were placed at a hibachi grill alone because we were the only small party. We didn't mind at all since we are here celebrating our anniversary. Our server started out strong, but got a little less attentive as the time went on. The food was really great, albeit, pricey. My husband got the wagyu hibachi with a side of wagyu fried rice and the spicy shrimp sushi. He loved it all. I got the filet mignon hibachi with a side of wagyu fried rice. It was all very good. They even offered us free ice cream in celebration of our anniversary. Also, they only offer Pepsi products so be mindful of that, I'd like me, you're not a Pepsi fan.

Ardis made our son's birthday a big hit! The A5 was amazing - we will definitely be back!

All I am going to say is, their service is sub par. Between the server and teppanyaki chef. Server mess up on the orders, and once teppanyaki chef was done, felt rush to vacate as if they need to table for the next guest. Not a moment to enjoy the food.

I earlier left a review on google, and decided to make a yelp account to spread the love. One of the worst experiences out at a restaurant. Never come here again. Waiter was nice but everything else was terrible. I asked one manager for help and he just told the waiter to figure it out. Can't make this shit up. Then to end the night they shoved a review card down my throat as if I had a good night. Id kill my moma before I come here again. Please don't come here. Food sucks, and the ambience is mid.

This was a lot of fun with great food and amazing staff. Our Chef was Evan and he made the night fun and special. Thank you Evan for putting up with 10 crazy veterans! Highly recommend. They even took our allergies and food dislikes very seriously! Thank you again

Food: Tasty. A bit overpriced (ex. If you want fried rice instead of white rice, they basically charge you for a side of fried rice. Adding veggies and soy sauce to white rice is not worth $6, but whatever). No issues otherwise with our meals Service: They seem to be short staffed as it relates to chefs. We waited a while for one to start fixing our food. However, once he started, he did a great job. No issues with the hosts and server. However, the manager was condescending and absolutely soured us on the experience. The experience with him alone was enough for me to never want to return to this location. The customer is not always right, but that doesn't mean they need be spoken to in a rude manner, especially if they were not speaking to you in that way. Perhaps he needs to rethink his career in customer service.

The food and experience was fantastic. Both Maria our host and Sergio our chef were a pleasure! Very attentive and interactive. The scallops were the freshest I've had in a long time. The wait took a little while, but once it got started - we couldn't complain. Will definitely come back.

Ever since we arrived in Chicago, we wanted to come to Benihana. We reserve going to places like Benihana for special occasions. When Joseph's birthday came around, we decided to come here. First off, Seven our server did a fabulous job in serving us. He explained to us about how the chefs at Benihana prepare the entrees. We found him prompt, friendly, and executed his duties precisely. He deserves an A+. Our chef, Rafael prepared a delicious entree for us. Being a Benihana chef, Rafael understood how to maneuver his cooking tools perfectly. He knew how to have fun with the eggs. I ordered the Seafood Diablo. It tasted delicious. For his birthday, Joseph ordered the Rocky's Choice. He said he liked it. I always liked looking at the decor at Benihana. It reminded me of Tanaka of Tokyo out in Honolulu, HI. Being a Japanese themed chain restaurant, it featured a large dog statue near the back. That gave Benihana more character. Come to Benihana. Bring friends, family or even a date.

Food was delicious and habbibi. I would definitely recommend Ardis as the cook as he's very funny and well spoken. He also can cook lol but we al knew that! Again I would come here and enjoy the same food as I got today!
