"This kosher Garment Distric fixture, a chain originating in Long Island, took over the humongous space (seating 360) two decades ago. The premises was once a deli called Lou G. Siegel, which had been in this location since 1917. The combination of the two creates one of the oldest continuously operating delis in town. The sprawling menu here is sometimes hit or miss, but the hot tongue is superb. The pastrami is good but not fantastic. Don’t miss the glistening gefilte fish, but skip the too-sweet cabbage soup." - Robert Sietsema

"For a sandwich or some matzoh ball soup in the Garment District, go to Ben’s. This is actually a mini-chain with a few locations in the tristate area, and they serve all your deli classics like pastrami, chopped liver, and potato pancakes. There’s also a larger menu of stuff like burgers, steaks, and salads, and everything here is, unsurprisingly, kosher." - Bryan Kim

Had a really nice lunch at Ben's with my wife. The restaurant is very large for Manhattan with lots of space, and it's a very clean restaurant. There was Coleslaw & pickles delivered to our table before we even sat down! We then ordered Reubens, and they were excellent. My only critique (as a Reuben enthusiast) is that the bottom bread was a tad soggy, making eating the thick Reuben a little difficult. I prefer it when the bread is toasted and more stable. But overall, a good sandwich and a great experience!

My wife and I ate dinner at Ben’s recently while visiting the city from Canada. When I visit NYC, I always find a place to fit in a Corned Beef or Pastrami sandwich, this trip I picked Ben’s based on location and mostly positive reviews. When we arrived there was only one other person eating, and the restaurant was uncomfortably silent, a little background music would have been better, but it’s clean and the staff is friendly. My wife tried the Matzo ball soup which she liked, I ordered a corned beef sandwich and a potato pancake. The portions are large, and the menu is extensive, sadly the corned beef was cut on a slicer (not what I expect in a “real” deli), and was very dry. My potato pancake was also very dry. The coleslaw and pickles were very good. Maybe this place shines at lunchtime, but I left rather disappointed.

Keepin it real out here in Midtown Ordered for pick up several times from this place and solid experience every time, a bit pricey tho. Finally had a chance to dine in for the first time. Pretty nice old school diner vibe. We ordered some pretty traditional items and they were good but i probably prefer the usual pastrami / brisket sandwiches. Nothing else really stood out but it's a good spot for a relaxing meal .

So disappointed…my wife got a Rubin and I got half corned beef and half pastrami sandwich - both on rye. Both were terrible - the bread was more like white bread than rye. And the meats were tough, thickly cut and tough! The Rubin had little sauerkraut and the cheese was not Swiss. And worse, the cheese was shredded and cold. The bread was not toasted. The one positive was the coleslaw was very good. Service was poor. Our server was very nice but I guess had too many customers. Atmosphere - the music was very loud. This is a Kosher deli but was poor at best. We did not finish our meal. Went to Carnegie diner and ordered the same food. It was great.

A great Jewish deli. Probably the largest in NYC. The restaurant is super clean and the service is excellent. The waiters make sure your experience is nothing but wonderful. The chopped liver was delicious. Of course they give you a huge portion. It was super freshly made and delicious. The matzo ball was a bit too big but the broth was definitely delicious and rich.

We just ate at this restaurant while visiting Time Square. The food is great! The restaurant is Big with plenty of seating. It was very packed when we went which is a testament to the restaurants service and food. The menu offers plenty of delicious choices like soups, sandwiches, breakfast, and much more. The staff are very pleasant and the waiter for our table continuously checked on us. We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend this restaurant!

A true classic in New York City! Amazing pastrami and corn beef sandwiches, with huge fillings and the best pickles around! I also got a hotdog with sourkraut and that was fab too. Staff and team are super friendly and accommodating and able to answer all your questions. Old and new customers are treated the same and you want to come back for more. A must for anyone who’s in midtown!

MY NEW FAVORITE DELI/RESTAURANT IN NYC!!! The food was EXCELLENT, this was the best turkey breast sandwich I've ever had! (and I eat A LOT of turkey sandwiches) The meat so tender it just fell apart in my mouth and was SO flavorful! (the bread, lettuce and tomato were also fresh and delicious) And the corned beef reuben was AMAZING!!! The service was top notch! All the waiters were very professional, attentive, and super friendly! The decor was really cool, kinda like modern-retro, lots of booths (which i love), and it's very bright and colorful. This is going to be my new spot whenever I'm NYC. 10 out of 10 - would definitely recommend!
