I love KBBQ, from SoCal to NorCal, you will never hear me say no to an invite. First, the location is great. You're in the heart of Japantown and have easy access to so many other things in the city outside of Japantown - walk from Fillmore District, car ride from Union Square. And if you decide you are not craving KBBQ, you are in a shopping area that has so many other places to grab a bite at.
But I regress, back to Bequeath BBQ grill. It's true, the place is enjoyed by many, unfortunately, I feel that I could get more bang for my buck elsewhere. They have a really wonderful and attentive staff, our grill was never "burned" or charred as the team would switch out and replace the grills before doing so.
I think for me, it might have been the quality of the flame. My go to meat, the brisket was extremely dry. I even tried different methods like marinating my brisket in the sauces they provided before grilling it and after and it was not the same.
Lastly, when we paid for our food, they did not provide us with the little yogurt drink that they usually provide. I saw a ton of them at the counters and we did not get any.
Overall I am sure the place is still good, its convenient, decently priced, and has attentive staff, but for me, it lacked a bit.
