New Restaurant and Bar Openings in Minneapolis and St. Paul in 2024 | Eater Twin Cities

"Tucked in the North Loop and sitting next door to Porzana, Berlin is a moody, European-feeling jazz club with marble, velvet, and brass textures, a crescent bar, a small stage with a grand piano, and a menu of potted duck confit, baked gnocchi, and baba au rhum from culinary director Jamie Malone; Ruby Langworthy leads beverages and there’s a live-music calendar to check." - Justine Jones

The Hottest Spots for Cocktails in the Twin Cities Right Now

"This moody new jazz club has a decidedly European feel — there’s a crescent bar in the back; textures of marble, velvet, and brass; a small stage set with a grand piano, and a menu of potted duck confit, baked gnocchi, and baba au rhum from culinary director Jamie Malone of Paris Dining Club (and previously Grand Cafe). Ruby Langworthy, an alum of Young Joni’s Back Bar and Little Tijuana, heads the cocktail program of refined classics — think mezcal Negronis, Aquavit Collinses." - Eater Staff

The Hottest New Restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul Right Now, May 2024

"This moody new jazz club, just next door to chef Dani del Prado’s steakhouse Porzana. Berlin, tucked inside a snug brick building, has a decidedly European feel — there’s a crescent bar in the back; textures of marble, velvet, and brass; a small stage set with a grand piano, and a menu of potted duck confit, baked gnocchi, and baba au rhum from culinary director Jamie Malone of Paris Dining Club (and previously Grand Cafe). Ruby Langworthy, an alum of Young Joni’s Back Bar and Little Tijuana, heads the beverage program; general manager Jenna Schimdt came to Berlin from Demi. The live music calendar is up and running with nightly performances." - Eater Staff

The vibes here are amazing. The low lighting with candles and the curtain backdrop is perfect for jazz. Went here with two of my friends and we all enjoyed some non alcoholic martinis. Drinks were good and the music was even better. So glad we stayed for the full show (which was free by the way) because they had singers at the end along side the instrumentalists and it was heavenly.

This spot is such a GEM. Go here and have the time of your life. We adore their food and drink, especially their NA and THC options!! And recently we had the wonderful opportunity of capturing photo for a wedding reception at Berlin and were simply blown away by the experience across the board. We have photographed wedding celebrations at some of the top venues (including Michelin star restaurants) from coast to coast and the service and food/bar here competes toe to toe with the best of them. How lucky we are to have this wonderful spot, and if you’re considering hosting a private event or dinner party here we simply could not recommend them more you WILL have the most incredible time.

This was the third time I had been to Berlin. One recommendation is to go to tickted shows instead of the free shows, unless it’s piano. The first time I went, it was improvised with a saxophone and honestly harsh on the ears. This time I went to a jazz trio with piano, soprano (clarinet?), and saxophone. They played some songs from their album and some others in similar genre. The tickets were $30 each. I mark the food as 4 stars. The ham sandwich was unevenly heated. The affogato was excellent. I mark the service as 3 stars. I was seated at the counter and my server never took a drink order. Finally, the general manager (thank you !) took my order and I was served an iced Americano and the sandwich and ice cream. I do not drink alcohol. It would have been more fun if a friend joined me, but nobody said yes to jazz. Very disappointing.

We sort of stumbled in here just after the music had wrapped because we were looking to have a good cocktail at a nice bar, and this place did not disappoint. In fact, we were blown away by the quality of the cocktails, the service and knowledge of our bartender, John (he made a fantastic New York Sour and Paper Plane off menu for me), and the overall calm and sexy vibe. My husband excitedly remarked that these were the best cocktails we'd had in Minneapolis (and this was on our last of three nights and many cocktails). For food, we only had the crudo and the chocolate mousse. The crudo was excellent and the mousse was good, but there was too much of the coconut topping for my taste. Overall though we highly recommend and hopefully next time we can catch some music too.

My houseguest wanted live music and this place delivered. We got a stage side table straight away when we arrived and spent the next several hours grazing, drinking, and enjoying the entertainment of the evening.

The music, ambience, and the food was great. The cheese and almond dish was delightful - so different from what I had expected. The pot de creme was beautifully delicious. We also enjoyed the band that was playing when we were there.

Google
Moody and intimate interior that perfectly suits the jazz vibe, food is perfectly suited lighter eats (salmon crudo and the pizza were standouts) as well as being very tasty. Wine selection was great, overall just fab.

Yelp
This is a gem of a spot and my whole family hopes it stays in business and continues to do well. Really intimate music venue offering bar and table seating. Good food and tons of drinks. Great happy hour deals on cocktails. Bar area is fancy, but not pretentious, and we saw folks in running clothes and dressed for a night out. Chic spot for a drink, or to stay and listen to music. Kind and patient staff and in a good downtown location.

Yelp
Ambiance Service Food Duck confit rillettes $14 Asparagus. Cornichon. Parsley It's like duck machaca. It's good companions to cocktails. With salted crackers and cornicons But need more of something. Last word (Gin) $15 Great! Sazerac $13 Excellent Negroni (mezcal) $13 Smokey. Well balanced. Makes want to drink another Martini with olives $13 Proper Martini. Order this! Chicken thigh schnitzel Sweet corn butter. Black pepper. Sauerkraut relish This is a great dish. Very satisfying. Crunchy outside juicy inside. Great seasoning The ambiance is sooo good. The music is amazing. Well depends who is playing. The staff is generally happy looking with one or two don't look so happy. Rum au baba Is like boozy cocktail with pound cake. The cake is kind of dry. Chantilly ratio to cake not right. But at least it's not overly sweet. Good concepts just need more thinkering or better execution. Maybe add bit of honey with some fresh mint and lemon zest

Yelp
What a fun vibe! There is a cover for bands but it is open for a drink as well. A small wait of a few minutes for a table to open but no big deal. Great music. Drinks were tasty. They had classics like a speakeasy vibe, but also some unique cocktails as well

Yelp
I went here with a friend and had an ABSOLUTE BLAST!!! I didn't really know what to expect when I walked in but was greeted by a warmly lit room and incredibly friendly hostess. She walked us to our table which was located right in front of the band. Our waitress came over quickly and was very attentive throughout the course of our time there. I ordered an extra dirty gin martini which was $12; a price I found INCREDIBLY fair. The amount of olive juice was the perfect amount and the blue cheese stuffed olive was wonderful. The band was super fun and took breaks to give time for chatting. The one thing I will note is that the music (especially in front) is VERY loud and doesn't leave any room for talking and even hearing the waitress was tough. Overall though, it was a super fun and hip spot and I will definitely be coming back!!!

Yelp
Great ambiance but from the minute we walked in the service was not great. It was my first time there so I had no idea what to expect. It was highly unorganized and the staff made us feel unwelcome. When we were finally seated, despite open tables, we felt able to relax & enjoy the music! Music was 10/10! We didn't have any food so I can't comment on that. One example of the staff not being up to par is that there was one song left & the server decided that was the time to clear tables. The bar remained open after the last song so it wasn't a matter of them trying to get out of there for the night. And even if it was, don't walk in front of everyone during the last song.
