"Berndt Ends BBQ specializes in perfectly smoked burnt ends that have a thick layer of bark made from a salt and pepper rub. Those looking for something a bit more regional should try the Alabama white chicken, made with pulled smoked chicken served in a sandwich or on its own and smothered in a white barbecue sauce. No matter what, do not skip the baked macaroni and cheese topped with more cheese, which pairs perfectly with the smoked meats." - Megan duBois

"There’s something about barbecue that makes it comforting on a warm Florida day. At Berndt Ends BBQ, it serves barbecue favorites like ribs, brisket, and turkey throughout the day — although it’s not uncommon for it to close early or be out of one type of meat by the middle of the afternoon. No matter which meat is chosen, be sure to add on a side of “crack mac,” which is its addictive macaroni and cheese." - Megan duBois

Some of the the best BBQ I've ever tasted. We had ribs, brisket, Pork sandwich, coleslaw, and smoked collards, Everything was amazing. The owner, Shaine Berndt and his wife are passionate about BBQ and it shows. I followed them on FB so I get updates on different specials. They're located on San Jose Blvd. , just about a half a mile north of 295, so if you're on 295 it's pretty easy to get to I'm looking forward to going back and try and some of the other dishes.

Service was friendly and the restaurant was pleasant! Now the food on the other hand. I had a sudden craving for BOBBY-Q so I read the reviews and headed in. I wanted to try everything so the young lady recommended the 4 meat platter w/3 sides, 2 pcs of toast and 2 drinks =$40 I added some deviled eggs =$48 The meat options except the sausage lacked flavor, if a dry rub is used to smoke the meat, salt is not in the rub anywhere. Brisket and pork were dry. Turkey was okay and I'm guessing they don't make their own sausage so it was good (not great but okay). I don't like mac-n-cheese usually and this did nothing to change that....visually unappetizing and lacked any flavor. The greens were cooked almost to mush but they were seasoned and pretty good. The datil beans were also okay. The deviled eggs were extremely hard boild...tasted like those pre-boiled store bought eggs (hard and rubbery) and again despite the appearance of seasoning lacked flavor (I poured bbq sauce on them to help). Now the platter ratio implies that it's enough for 2 people, but the side portions say otherwise! The bbq sauce, specifically the one they call Carolina is not a great representation of what Carolina BBQ has to offer, way to loose and I get it, it's vinegar base but they left out the flavor and heat. As I write this review I realized I didn't get my 2 pcs of toast...so I just deducted a star from the service 4 to 3! I usually give places a 2nd chance but after being -$50 in these hard economic times I don't want to risk more disappointment. See pictures for details.

Not a bad little spot. Conveniently located right off busy San Jose Blvd across From Popeye's, this BBQ joint offers up the standard fare. We enjoyed BBQ chicken with sausage and some Brisket. The chicken was absolutely fantastic. Juicy, fell right off the bone and had a great flavor. The sausage was standard pork sausage. The brisket was chewy and extremely fatty for what we got. Nonetheless, for what we were able to eat, it was standard fare with really good flavor. The mac n cheese was different. Thicker than most and had an excellent, smokey flavor. Green beans were good too. Overall, we had a pretty avg exp for spending $60 on 2 of us. The staff were extremely friendly and the ambiance was nice.

I'm continuing my journey to find the best bbq in Jacksonville. Today I hit the jackpot. A friend told me about Bernt Ends, and especially their deviled eggs. This place hit it out of the park. The brisket was amazing, only seconded by the diviled eggs with sweet maple bacon. And their sauces were great. Only one mystard sauce. I'll have to return just to try the other sauces.

SUCH GOOD BBQ!! The portions were LARGE for the price (12$), not to mention all of the meat was perfectly smoked: the brisket was moist, and the pork and ribs were delicious on their own! Pictured below are the regular meat platters with two sides: pictured below is pulled pork with sweet potatoes, ribs with green beans and collard greens and brisket with coleslaw. I also am in love with their mustard bbq sauce I am desperate for the recipe. The other bbq sauces were great as well! A place I will return to for sure!

Where do I even begin ... this place is absolutely amazing. It starts as you walk in the door, they are always so welcoming and pleasant. Everything I’ve tried on their menu has been delicious but the brisket is honestly best I’ve had to date. Do yourself a flavor favor and give this place a shot you will not be disappointed!

Starting with the service, I was welcomed as soon as I walked in and taken care of promptly. I decided on the 1/2 chicken and it was seasoned very well and very moist, I would get it again. I got the green beans, which were really good and I thought the bits of shredded pork was a fantastic additive. The sweet potato w/ maple butter was also great. Overall, I enjoyed everything and will visit again because I was way too full to try the banana pudding ice cream, which in itself sounds awesome!
