The Ultimate Guide To Miami’s Big Hot Subs - Miami - The Infatuation

"Miami’s big hot subs start tasting the same when you’ve had as many as we have. But true to its name, this little spot in Kendall is the best old-school sub shop in Miami. What separates it from the rest is how well they sear the meat in these extra saucy sandwiches, giving it time to char up on the grill. We like the honey mustard chicken, which gets a healthy downpour of honey mustard while it’s still on the flat top. The family-run restaurant has been around for almost 50 years and employs talented teenagers who make assembling our favorite subs in the city look easy." - virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer

Called in and ordered a steak & cheese and a chicken bomb. Asked what was INCLUDED on the chicken bomb and was told “chicken, cheese, onions, peppers and mushrooms”. When I arrived and paid, I checked my receipt after and saw I was charged extra for the peppers …. The peppers that were supposedly included on the sandwich. Both were very dry and barely had any meat or toppings. It was not worth the $29 and I don’t recommend it.

Google
There’s only 2 sub shops I like in Miami and this is one of them. Every time I’m in the area I make sure to stop and grab one. Sub is always stack but never to the point it spills out which is my favorite

Google
Great chopped cheese! Hard to find regional food offerings in Miami and I've been looking to find various regional foods, one of them being chopped cheese from New York. Saw the sign advertising it when getting a meal at another restaurant next door. Glad I made time to get it. Young staff, chill mood, outdoor seating.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a hidden gem that offers exceptional Philly Cheesesteaks. The sandwiches were truly delightful, and the overall experience was outstanding, thanks to the friendly staff. However, I have to be honest and give this sub shop a 4 star. My only recommendation for this shop is to work on cross contamination. The person making sandwiches was also using the credit card machines with the same gloves. Numerous clients touch that machine each day. I would like to recommend implementing measures to address cross-contamination concerns. It would be beneficial to designate specific roles for cooking and cashiering, ensuring the use of separate gloves for each task to enhance food safety standards.

Google
First time here. I got the grilled chicken sub. She cooked it in front of me. The chicken needed some seasoning but overall it was great. I love these hole in the wall places because they usually have the best food. Highly recommend.

Google
I tried this sub shop today because hungry bear was closed. The cheesesteak was not great, unfortunately. They need to put about double the amount of meat that they did. The sandwich was not expensive, but I’d rather pay a little more and get a quality cheesesteak with a good amount of meat. This is a far cry from a real Philly cheesesteak and nowhere near as good as hungry bear or some other sub shops in town.

Google
The absolute"Best"sub shop in Miami hands down! Grew up on these subs from 13 yrs old back in the early 90's, my older brothers are the ones who introduced me to the mouth-watering can't get enough, can't ever get enough of these damn tasty subs! My heart breaks when I write this as I live over 2000 miles away now and the subs over here Suck! I wished they could mail me a sub via FedEx or UPS!

Google
First time here: wow! I haven’t had a sub this great in 20 years. I had the American/Italian Sub. Tasted like nostalgia. Bread was soft and chewy, it absorbed the mayo which was brushed on. The cold cuts were flavorful and didn’t taste over processed. The onions were sliced, mandolin thin; the tomatoes were cut into wedges and didn’t hold excess water. The lettuce was shredded. These small things add up to a great experience - they should increase their prices. The dude behind the counter made it look easy, but the sub even looked like it should be in commercial. I’d post a picture but I ate it already lol

Yelp
Wow this chopped cheese sub was off the chain!!!!! Huge shout out to my Boy Tommy for introducing me to this new sub joint. Perfect little sub shop in the SW area. Service was great, fast and you can't beat the sub combo. Highly recommend stopping by if your in the area. They have tables n chairs outside if you wanna catch a good lunch. Thank you! I will be returning soon!!!

Yelp
Got the hot ham & Swiss and BBQ Chicken subs. This neighborhood eatery is small, quaint and welcoming. We were greeted promptly and subs were made right in front of us. Both subs were delicious and made as ordered. Places like this are what makes one want to return over & over again.

Yelp
Just had a breakfast eggs sub and it was delicious! Bread was so soft. Nice hole in the wall spot. It's been here for years! Staff is friendly and nice. Support this place! Everything looked and tasted fresh! Will come back again!

Yelp
Yelp brought me here. I was in the area and I was craving sub sandwiches. And when I arrived, I didn't know that this place even existed. From the customer service to the amazing menu choices, I couldn't resist. I got the chicken bomb sub sandwich on wheat bread... it included provolone cheese, honey, mustard, salt, pepper vinegar, oil, as well as grill onions. It's Chef's kids. Can't wait totry again.
google avatar

Denis P.

Yelp
Food is absolutely delicious, customer service is nothing to speak about. These kids are there with their AirPods and don't acknowledge the customers until the next few songs finish I guess. Literally standing there for about 10 mins or so without a single hello, to add Insult to injury they acknowledge a customer that had just stepped in before everybody that was waiting. The owner nothing nothing nothing has to be careful and fix that customer service.

Yelp
Go to sub for a drive: turkey roast beef sandwich, hot, grilled with onions and hot peppers. Add lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Cut in half! To go. Eat it on Key Biscayne.
google avatar

Luis T.

Yelp
Their operating hours suck this is not a small town like South Bay and Belle Glade. at least open up your hours until about 9 PM or 12 midnight like Subway
google avatar

Salena L.

Yelp
has a good menu with many options to choose from. I went for the first time and the person helping me was nice and helpful with my indecisive self. I got the chicken caesar as a wrap (spinach wrap). I've tried many chicken caesar wraps and wasn't expecting this one. it was good, but it was different. the chicken is hot and sautéed, I was asked lettuce, tomato, and pickles which I said yes to. I did think it was odd though to be asked if I wanted lettuce since I thought it would be a salad wrap. it is not. it is more like a chicken wrap with caesar sauce (with a side of lettuce and tomatoes that became somewhat soggy due to it being hot) and not like a chicken caesar salad wrap. it was still good but not what I was expecting and not a chicken caesar salad wrap in my honest opinion. however, I still think it was made very well either way and look forward to trying more on their menu!

Yelp
I made two visits to Best Sub & Sandwich Shop yesterday: my first and my last! I ordered 2 Italian subs; one regular and one with no vegetables, easy peasy, nothing special. The cost was $29.10! I could live with that if it was a good sub, but it wasn't. Subway has a better sub. Very little meat, veggies were bland and not fresh, way too much mayo and mustard. I try to support small local businesses but not this one. It was very disappointing.
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
Delicious food and great family hole-in-the-wall ambiance. Service was very friendly. Can't wait to go back
google avatar

Steven G.

Yelp
Mixed feeling about the experience...the subs were very good - tuna sub and grilled chicken and cheese sub- bread was ok Place it s a little dirty and the ceiling tiles need replacement- maybe paint them black instead The manager or owner not sure walks in and starts to scream at the employees right in front of customers- they forgot to put out the garbage can and umbrellas. Obviously should have been handled more professionally. Overall 3 stars
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
I am usually one for clean eating, however the steak sandwich with lettuce gets me every time! This is one of those places that hits a craving so well. This shop has been around forever and if you are in need of a good yummy sandwich this is the place to go!

Kira C.

Yelp
$20 for a mediocre sub made in Miami's dirtiest sub shop. Don't look up or you'll see the cobwebs falling off the ceiling into your sandwich

Cindy S.

Yelp
Honestly , pull over and try it for yourself. Their Philly , chicken teriyaki , and bourbon chicken are FANTASTIC ! They are NOT greedy with their meat.
google avatar

Tyler A.

Yelp
This place was really good. I was in town for work and stopped here randomly after a quick Yelp search. I got the Italian and it was amazing. It was so good that i regrettably forgot to get pictures! I absolutely loved how they put chopped instead of hole tomatoes, what a game changer. I woulda put 5 stars but the only thing holding this sub back in my opinion was the bread. I'd be very surprised if they told me this bread was made in house it did not seem very fresh, but on the other hand it held together extremely well for the fact that my sub was drenched in oil and vinegar.
google avatar

Lucas R.

Yelp
Found this place searching on Yelp. Can't believe it took me so long to find. Been living in this area 5 years. Need to try others but the breakfast sub was very good.

Jackie R.

Yelp
Best sub is the best! I have been going there for over 30 years. They are generous with their meat and toppings, always an amazing flavor.

Erika S.

Yelp
AmazIng subs!!! We love this small family business. Subs are great. Service is awesome. And it's great to see high school kids given the opportunity to work here.
google avatar

Jerry P.

Yelp
Best deal: American Cold Cut Bomb. More expensive but better Pastrami and Cheese, and Steak Bomb
google avatar

Monica C.

Yelp
Just moved to the neighborhood and I was so excited to try this place out. Put in an order for a steak and cheese picked it up and when I got home I open up a pretty sad looking bacon and american cheese sandwich. So not what I ordered and I had to get back to work so nothing I could do. Maybe ill try again one day. Oh well.

Redland T.

Yelp
I gave them another try. They fucked it up in spectacular fashion this time. I ordered a stark bomb. With extras. They sent a bag of nach cheese Doritos and a can of Coke. I hate both. The only reason I give them two stars is the sandwiches are great. The stupid personnel is what drags them down
google avatar

Lazaro L.

Yelp
Ordered 20 mins along when I get here they say they forgot..... we have ordered here before and the service was good but now.... don't recommend

Kim C.

Yelp
Best subs EVER !! Got a steak bomb and it's amazing. Great customer service and very good prices. It's literally the best sub shop.
google avatar

Anthony G.

Yelp
The name says it all! My go to place for subs. Everything is fresh and made to order. So many options and great prices. If you not getting it to go they have tables to eat outside.
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
Best sub shop in south dade. Quick efficient reasonable prices. Bread is fantastic. Love this place
google avatar

Bobby R.

Yelp
Psychopaths. Little sub shop, big sandwiches. BUT... I have been here a handful of times and they really do make good sandwiches. The Steak and Cheese is my favorite, cold subs are good, and I like a burger sub or two on occasion. They have great sandwiches and I have never thrown up from eating there (OK, faint praise, but still...not a bad thing). BUT, these hard-core nut jobs decided to take shit to a new level; they took a murdered mom and its murdered unborn babies and placed all of the dead on a sandwich? Monsters. So obviously I have never had the Chicken and Egg Sub.
google avatar

Eunice J.

Yelp
This homey little sub shop gives you the sub combo you need! My favorites are the cheese steak (w grilled onions!) or the chicken teriyaki bomb. The people that work there are so down to earth, friendly, and chill-- if you want a classic sub to get your day going this is the SPOT!
google avatar

Kathy I.

Yelp
I have been coming to THE BEST sub shop since I was 15 and I am now 34! To say I am loyal is an understatement. They have 25+ different sandwich options and all ingredients are fresh. Whether a cold or warm sandwich this is the grab a bit for lunch or dinner! By far my very favorite is the honey mustard chicken sandwich. They whip everything together and cook it to order. You can add extra add-ons like mushrooms, peppers etc for a small fee. Make it a meal and add chips and a drink! I wish I wouldve taken a pic because the subs are huge! I love it so much I have dragged co-workers, friends and family here. Conveniently located off US-1. Parking can be a little annoying but, there are two small lots. Back and front. Be patient and someone will leave. Note there are 4 other business next to it. Staff is so friendly and quick. Try their cookies too! Be sure to tip they are family owned!
google avatar

Kamryn M.

Yelp
Honestly this place just isn't good. I used to like it and would go throughout my childhood but it has gone down the drain in recent years. Quality is so poor and the service is bad too. I recently ordered a hot turkey with lettuce, provolone, onion, banana peppers, etc and I received a freezing cold turkey sandwich with nothing but the turkey and Mayo on white bread. They completely forgot to put it on the grill and add the toppings. What was the point of me even ordering from them? It's definitely not to get a cold low quality meat sandwich on hot dog-esque bread.
google avatar

Tony D.

Yelp
This place has the best sandwiches. I live in Dallas and whenever I come to Kendall, I always come here. I usually get the cheese steak with a little ranch and all the fixins and it never disappoints. The sandwiches are huge too! I definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

George M.

Yelp
Mom and Pop Sandwich joint thats been around for 36 year plus (plus because the sign stating that they've been open for 36 years looks about 5 years old) Got myself a cheesesteak on white, extra onions and it was really tasty and the soft bread made for a melt in your mouth sandwich. This footlong tube of meat and cheese ran me around $9. Pro Tip: The Honey Mustard Chicken is where its at.
google avatar

Vanise G.

Yelp
Delivery arrived 15 minutes before expected! sandwich was great, but they did not send my side of pickles or napkins. My friends tuna platter was a lot of tuna but could have used more lettuce/spinach. I will order from here, again.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm so glad we decided to take the back roads home from Dadeland because we ran into this gem on the way. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let the looks fool you, this place is great. I ordered the hot roast beef with grilled onions and my wife the teriyaki chicken, and they were both delicious. Its not often that you find a good subshop like this, so I'm definitely glad we ran into it while we were hungry. The prices were reasonable and the service was fast and friendly. There are a few stores around it, including a chocolate store. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area craving a sub. I will definitely be back. These is limited parking in front, but has additional parking in the rear. Enjoy
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
I went to Best Sub & Sandwich Shop yesterday for the first time. I was not disappointed. Although I thought my Cheesesteak could have been a bit cheesier (ask for extra if you want it cheesy I guess) I thought the quality and portion size of the steak was phenomenal. I would totally come again and get the same thing with loads of extra cheese. Do it.
google avatar

Natasha M.

Yelp
This place is awesome! I had their huge Honey Mustard Chicken sub ($7.49) and I LOVED it. It's a really small sub shop so it can get pretty packed. No tables inside but they have two outside where you can sit and eat. Super friendly service. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Great pastrami & cheese sub! Absolutely stuffed with meat. It's my go-to now for my pastrami fix! Efficient service with loads of options! Never have been let down. Thanks guys!

Antoine A.

Yelp
why do you guys let the employees close EARLY every single day!!? why? what's the purpose of saying you close at 6. if your always closed by 530 DAILY!!
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
The best steak and cheese sub outside of NY...period. The subs are stuffed with meat and cheese and are very reasonably priced. This place truly understands the importance of a having the right bread to meat ratio!
google avatar

Emma J.

Yelp
I came here years ago, and since I was in the neighborhood thought I would drop in since I am a sandwich fanatic. I now remember why it has been years that I haven't been here. Before writing my review I read the others, almost all 5 stars? Um me think not. This sub shop is small no tables inside to sit and eat but have a couple outside with umbrellas, no stars taken from this. They sell chips have a decent selection, it is a sub shop so you can't expect it to be Publix... Good drink selection as well, they have Snapple which is a major plus for me as I am also a tea fanatic. Friendly service, greets you right when you come in, helps you immediately, food out in less than 3 minutes no lie - great service. Okay so I'm home ready to gobble this good looking sub down ( Iwould have taken a picture but I was too hungry folks) First bite, wait did I take a first bite, I don't taste anything... Yes it is that bland! OH. MY. GOD. I have never had a more bland sandwich or any type of food for that matter in my life. I kid not. I had the grilled chicken and mushroom on wheat (full) tomatoes, pickles, onions cooked and raw, provolone cheese, mustard, mayo, salt, pepper(extra), oregano, oil and vinegar. You would think I would taste something, but all I could taste was the large amount of unseasoned chicken. The sandwich is called grilled chicken AND mushroom, where are the mushrooms? I had a handful, and by that I mean 5. I stopped eating got up and got salt, pepper, and oregano to add to the sandwich, and it still didn't help! The unseasoned chicken just overwhelmed the whole sandwich. Oh man what a bummer! I was so happy because the service was amazeballs, but the food is a no go. I am not sure if I even want to come back and try the honey chicken everyone talks about... 8.19$ (price for my sub) down the drain on another disappointment... probably not. I will stick to my original sub shop - Linda's on Sunset & 87th - never a disappointment there!
google avatar

Doc V.

Yelp
Very satisfied! Super small (must eat outside in front) and not sparkly clean and sterile like a Subway but just enough funk to be FUNksional! I had the Italian Cold Cut and while it took a while to be acknowledged (young mustard haired kid wouldn't know customer service if it bit him) the cook took my order and then made it herself in less than a minute! My sandwich had fresh veggies and not skimpy on the meat at all, white sub roll was decent, with chips and a Snapple for 11 bucks and change. I plan to try the steak and cheese next time because you can practically touch the grill it is so close. (No Secrets) As that governator says: all be bock! P.S. go South down us1 just past Trader Joe's and shortys and make a right on 98th ST look to your left in first strip mall
google avatar

MickeyBlue I.

Yelp
My review is based on a few variables. 1- located in a small plaza, decent parking in back 2- not crowded at all, which is a mission in south Florida. 3- friendly service/outdoor seating only 4- delicious and hearty sub We had the steak & pastrami and they don't skimp on the portions. The service was very friendly and professional. I wish they had indoor seating being that it's 90 degrees the majority of the year. But the outdoor seating wasn't bad, all the seats have covered umbrellas. We tried two spots prior to ending up here and they were both overly crowded! I don't care how good the food is, I don't do crowds. This place seems like the spot for a good sub minus the crowds.
google avatar

Katie F.

Yelp
I've never had a bad sub at this local favorite sandwich shop. I always try to will myself to try something new every time I go, but always end up ordering the hot steak sandwich with mushrooms, cooked peppers, and onions. You can't beat the prices and these subs just don't get better. If you're in the area looking for a quick fulfilling meal definitely check this place out! IG: KFitzEats

Melody M.

Yelp
Super small shop, but those sandwiches make a huge impact! We had the classic cheese steak and roast beef/pastrami and they were great!
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
Who doesn't live a giant freshly made sandwich?! Seriously good. I had the honey mustard chicken sub with grilled onions. It was super yummy. Don't plan on dining in since the place itself doesn't have seating but there are a couple of tables outside. Don't forget to grab some paper towels... Their giant subs can get a little messy. The staff here are super cool, too.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Very solid sub shop. Fresh bread. I love the bacon cheeseburger sub. Don't get the pastrami hot because it's insanely greasy. But good local neighborhood sub shops. Priced better then most
google avatar

Patrick S.

Yelp
Not just the best sub shop in Miami, but the best sub shop ever. To me this was a hidden gem that I didn't know was right down the street for 20 years! Now I find myself here at least twice a month. Always fresh bread, always fresh ingredients. Love this place hands down!
google avatar

Fisher K.

Yelp
Holy heck this is literally the best sub shop I've been too. I've been going very frequently as of late and I can order the same sub over and over and it didn't get old. I love the little stickers all over the place very alternative. Subs are damn tasty.
google avatar

Annie M.

Yelp
My fiance and I absolutely love this place!! We've been going here for years and they never disappoint! We usually get the cheeseburger bacon sub with teriyaki sauce cooked with it. It's so freaking good!! The subs are huge so we usually save half for later. We used to live closer but now it's kind of a drive to get here, but totally worth it!! I highly reccomend this place!
google avatar

Jonathan F.

Yelp
Just visited the shop for the first time after years of friends telling me to go. I was not disappointed. This whole in the wall sub shop offers an extensive menu of cold and hot subs as well as a few other items. I had the honey mustard chicken hot sub with grilled onions and it was amazing! For the price it's hard to beat a place like this. Will be back soon!
