Best Western Grant Park Hotel

3 of us stayed here for two nights. We were attending a concert at United Center. Parking is valet only - you hand your keys to the front desk and they will park your car somewhere else. Our hotel room at a leaky toilet, coming from the bottom. I called the front desk and informed them. There maintainer responded within minutes and fixed the problem within 20 minutes. No extra charges for work, no need to move rooms. The hotel is in a great location overall if you're looking to be downtown near tourists spots. About 20 minute drive to United Center. Would come here again. Felt fairly priced for the service we received.

Hotel is perfect for the price. We definitely paid below the average for the city for our two night stay, and were happy with the quality. The rooms are dated but certainly not dirty, although no microwave was disappointing. Had an issue with our first room after checking in after 10 pm, was instantly changed to a new room. Staff was friendly and the location cannot be beat.

This is really a 2 star hotel, with a hostel feel, but service was good and location was good. Rooms are drafty, so in the dead of winter it was a little chilly. Water pressure and temperature in the shower was exceptional, even on the 9th floor.

I recently stayed at the Best Western Grant Park Hotel, and I must say, it was an amazing experience! From the moment I checked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room was spotless, spacious, and had a fantastic view of the park. The bed was super comfortable, and I appreciated the modern amenities like the flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. The location is unbeatable, with easy access to Grant Park, museums, and great dining options. The hotel’s breakfast was delicious and offered a variety of choices to start the day right. I also loved the fitness center, which was well-equipped and clean. Overall, my stay at the Best Western Grant Park Hotel exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. It’s a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and excellent service!

A pretty nice hotel. Affordable, clean, and quiet when I visited. Also there are alot of shops around included Trader Joe's, Dollop coffee shop, and several restaurants. I paid $70 a night. The complaints i have are that my room had a draft so it was cold in one part and warm in the other. The iron didn't work. The gym had broken and janky equipment. The rooms have no microwave only a mini fridge. You have to go downstairs to the lobby for the one microwave. They have a fruit infused water at reception and sometimes a snack bowl like apples or bars. And the room i got had a beautiful view and the setup was nice. You also get a 10% discount for the French cafe downstairs which is delicious.

I stayed in this hotel for five nights, and I do not have any complaints. As a solo, female traveler, I felt safe in the hotel and around the area. Great staff and very welcoming housekeeping. Mrs. Brígida, which was in charge in 9th floor was amazing and always with a smile in her face. She made sure to greet me in the morning when I happened to stumble upon her when l was leaving for the day. |Also great location to walk to different places and really close to different types of public transportation.

I arrived a bit early. They didn't allow me to check in early, although it was confirmed the previous guest had left. I asked a kind favor to prioritize cleaning my room first but it was not entertained. I asked to switch to another room that is ready and has been cleaned but my request was rejected. No effort was made whatsoever to help guests except the easy response of saying a sharp "NO" with a stuck-up face. Finally passed the check-in time, 3 pm, but my room was still not ready. I told them straight back, "Before 3 pm you were strict with your check-in timing policy, now after 3 pm, I am being strict regarding my rights".||The staff at the counter, Samantha was rude to me from the beginning. I requested to speak to the manager, but she rejected my request saying the Front Desk Manager, Damazo refused to see me. Then I made a call and sent an email to the General Manager, Octavio but I was ignored. ||The overall service at the hotel was really bad. They covered up for each other so that any report a customer made would not reach the top management of Best Western. Very unprofessional. Bad customer service. I would recommend this hotel at all. Just horrible,

The hotel location is great- right across from Grant Park. The neighborhood isn't bad with some excellent restaurants and a Trader Joe's nearby. The lobby is underwhelming and having to run the gauntlet of panhandlers to get into the very small door is not a pleasant experience. The Hilton Garden and Homewood Suites next door do not have this issue, so felt much safer. The rooms were small but clean. The towels were worn and threadbare. The bathroom door panel was coming off the door causing the panel to stick on the door jam when fully closed. The front desk was informed of this issue but didn't seem too concerned. The valet service was slow. It took over 40 minutes to retrieve our car. The person at the front desk said that she had to operate the front desk, retrieve luggage from luggage storage and perform the valet duties. This seems highly unfair to the worker and the customer. The hotel did not provide water in the rooms or have a convenience store. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

Location- excellent. Lots of restaurants nearby and walking distance to museum campus. Parking- valet available or lots within walking distance. There's no sign to indicate that you can street park in front of the main entrance while you check in. That is a little confusing. Room- nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. Staff- pleasant and helpful. The smoke detector's battery died. The maintenance technician was helping another guest, but when he got to my room, he had the unit replaced within 2 minutes. Value- excellent (particularly if you find other parking). Day of stay: Saturday in Feb.

The Grant Park Hotel is part of the Best Western group and has a great location if you are visiting Chicago. Its entrance is about 50 feet from Michigan Avenue and two short blocks from the Roosevelt CTA station that has several L train stops there along with CTA busses passing through. It is within 10 minutes walking distance to the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium. Several restaurants are close by too. It serves a continental breakfast in its small lobby everyday and that lobby is connected to a Paris Baguette bakery if that suits your fancy. Grant Park Hotel is 9 stories tall and I found my room to be comfortable with a good bed, working hvac unit and functional bathroom. I had one small issue in the bathroom that was fixed promptly by maintenance after I reported it. Finally I was satisfied with my nightly rate. This is a good moderately priced property with a great location. I would be happy to stay here again.

Certainly not the newest or the best, but it is safe, comfortable and in a great location. There were some areas of carpet in hallways that were unraveling and our room had a broken towel rack that was "repaired" with clear packing tape. Mostly cosmetic/age related defects. The A/C unit was great and almost was too cold. Showers were hot with a lot of pressure. The bed was comfortable but it would be nice to have bigger pillows. Plenty of space in the room and great lighting. When booking, we liked parking was available. But it was sold out upon checking in. We had to park a block away in a garage but it turned out to be cheaper than the $52 per day rate for the hotel garage. The best thing about the place is location. Easily walkable to the parks and museums as well as a 20ish minute walk to soldier field. Bus and train transport is readily accessible getting you anywhere in the city you want to go. And there are many good dining options. We did not try the restaurant attached to the hotel (they give a $10 breakfast voucher there) nor the Paris Baguette bakery (which offered a discount with room key).

Comfortable, clean, across from Grant park. But for a Best Western, it is in quite some disrepair. I guess you could call it tattered. I mean nothing filthy or broken, but if you look at the pictures, you'll see that the paint is peeling or the wallpaper is messed up & the desk has Worn out Places. It was suggested to me as less expensive than other hotels in the area, so I did not actually compare prices. I suggest you do that. And if you're the owner of this hotel I suggest that you get a can of paint and some sandpaper and get to work.

This is a great hotel to stay for the value. This is walking distance from the subway stations (~10 min walk) and from Buckingham Fountain (~15 min) and THE BEAN / Cloud Gate and Millenium Park (~20 min). Right next door, is a boba shop if you're craving! Keep in mind that there will be a $75 refundable deposit. Wifi is included. Breakfast is included with your stay from 7AM-9AM. This is honestly one of the better brekkie variety than most value hotels I've stayed at. The elevator is quite small and will comfortably fit about 3-4 ppl. The hotel room and bathroom were very clean. I kind of wish they had better pillows though. I kept sinking in. Also, the heater is old and loud. It needs some time to get to the right temperature but it'll get there. Customer service was great! I called late at night and the front desk staff answered immediately. If it's past your check out time, they'll hold your luggage in a locked room.

After 2 nightmare stays from our last 2 vacations somewhere else (not affiliated with this hotel) we were nervous to check in but this hotel was so refreshing to stay at. All staff was friendly from the minute we opened the door. They even called a little after we got to our room to see if we needed anything. We didn't. Everything was clean and well stocked already. Comfortable beds with thicker blankets than most hotels have. Staff and hotel in general were great. Really sweet and friendly lady cleaning rooms the morning we left. Walking distance to a lot of things. Will book again.

They literally made me and my kids wait until 3pm to check in while others checked in. They made it appear as though the room was not ready but it's really just that she wanted to make us wait until 3. However, when the male cashier registered people he gave them their room key. I was never mean or rude, just cane in extra early and left for lunch and returned 2 hours later and sat there for 1.5 hours. Just so unnecessary other than she had the power to do that. At least be upfront about it.

They get one star because the staff was very sweet. As for the room I got..... it was musty in there. I hardly slept because the bed was so uncomfortable. Everything in there felt wet (sheets, floor, towels in restroom). This hotel is so run down! I will never again stay at another Best Western in my life! The only plus is that the hotel is located at the center of so many restaurants and Trader Joe's. I've added pictures just so you can see for yourself. Btw the lock to the bathroom didn't work and the bathroom tub was NOT CLEAN.

Man, I work AND adventure travel and Best Western is never on my list of hotels that are a-okay. While I had to book this one due to lack of vacancy in the area, I still can't recommend. It's safe and mostly clean, but it also needs some help in the rooms, like lighting and carpet ( that doesn't make you want to wear socks in the room) . Water on the floors in stairs, icemakers out of service, etc. It's a solid 2.5 out of 5.

Good deal on Expedia for the room but huge lesson in you get what you pay for. The 3 stars are for quality of the room. The service we received was definitely 5 star. Now back to the hotel. It's as clean as it can be for an older building. The first room we were in had a broken bed frame and my daughter almost flipped over when she sat on the edge of the bed. They've polished the place up and added some nice refinements but the renovations to the restaurant means that they are loading the dumpster until 11pm at night. Hardly conducive to a good night rest. Clanging pipes all night long being thrown into an overflowing dumpster is hardly the symphony for sleep. Unimpressed. Update: Magee perked me 1000 points for the inconvenience and I ended up also signing up for the BW Club for a $50 voucher and credit card for future usage. It's convenient to where I work so I will be back. Hopefully the construction will be done when I return in the Fall.

This a basic hotel with basic ammenities. This was my home for 4 nights during my visit to Chicago. This isn't the Ritz, don't know why people are expecting that. I prepaid for valet parking which was a great service. Won't need a car next time I stay here though: this is at an awesome location. My friend and I just ended up walking from here all over downtown Chicago. No frills, no 5 star restaurant, just a great prime location. Coffee/pastry shop next door was great!

I was delayed by a cancelled/rebooked flight and didn't arrive at the hotel until the morning after I was supposed to check in for a two-night stay. However, since I was late they cancelled my room (without attempting to contact me) and re-booked it to someone else, and refused to refund me (I had pre-paid for the room). They said it was my fault for not contacting them while I was at the airport, nevermind I was worried about rebooking my flight and the last thing on my mind was worrying about a room I had already paid for. So they get to keep my money and then re-book the room with someone else and make double the money for the room.

Excellent location, phenomenal customer service, and overall value are the pros about this hotel. I had a last minute conference at the Art Institute of Chicago and needed a room for a couple of nights. Properties closer to the venue were sold out and this hotel was the closest to both the event and Blue Line to O'Hare. Check-in was fast and front desk staff were friendly. My room was located on the 6th floor and had nice view of Grant Park. The room itself was adequate yet small. It was tidy and stocked with the basic amenities and toiletries. The walls were paper thin and the windows did not block out the sounds from the outside. The beds were comfortable and clean and counter tops was dust free. This property is in close vicinity to Trader Joe's, Starbucks, Five Guys, Dunkin Donuts, and other restaurants. This hotel would not be my first choice, however I would definitely return.

Wow. This place is garbage. I've stayed at Motel 6s that are better. Hardly anyone speaks English. The beds are DISGUSTING. The shower was AWFUL. I woke up with rashes all over my face. On top of that, they charged me twice for my room. They claim that they don't see it on their account and it will take 5-10 business days to get my $500 back. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

We were greeted by a staff member with a warm smile. The hotel was very clean. Any we needed was a phone call to the front desk. The hotel location worked very well for us. I will recommend this Hampton hotel.

We came to Chicago six years ago and loved staying at the Grant Park. The rooms were airy and open. There was enough room for My little family to move around, and it was a nice place to relax after a day of walking around and sight-seeing. When we decided to go back to Chicago recently, we decided to stay in the same Best Western, since our first stay was so nice. They gave us a suite. This was NOT a suite. It used to be a suite until they turned the other room connected into its own hotel room. Our room was so small that we had to flatten ourselves against the wall to get to the bathroom because the bed was in the way. I could not roll my suitcase to the other side of the room because there was not enough room. Really, if more than one person was off their bed and moving about the room, people were running into each other. The bathroom was so incredibly small that you could sit on the toilet and have a hand in the shower and in the sink at the same time, and our toilet was leaking. Additionally, everytime a door shut in our hallway, our door would rattle in its frame. This would happen late into the night. I was so looking forward to having a comfortable home base; instead we stayed away as much as possible. I will say that the location is great. But note: if you stay there, you might want to make sure that, if they give you a suite, it is actually a suit and not less than half a room. I saw other rooms on our floor and they had much more room and space than the room in which we stayed. I feel like we paid for half a room. This is my first review on Yelp, and I am sorry that it had to be about a negative experience we had at an originally loved hotel. We will not be staying there again. There are other hotels across from Grant Park.

This place is a dump i probably won't stay here again even it was free to me but if you want the experience of staying downtown on michigan ave. with a low budget then hey give it a try.

While not a super luxury hotel, it has everything we needed. Clean room, good beds, hot water, fast enough internet (15mbps down) and a fantastic location. Yolk and a small market store are around the corner. Yolk has outstanding breakfast and lunch. The market was great to get some beer and orange juice. The room has a refrigerator which was quite useful. Overall we loved staying here and will stay here again in the future.

2 more days to go! Can't wait to check out. I understand that they can't clean rooms due to Covid so when I asked for towels and toilet essentials 2 days after checking in, they send 2 towels for a family of 5 and empty used bottles. When I told the man I need more, he said he would be back but never did. I politely asked the lady getting rooms ready if I could get 2 more towels and she asks me to go to front desk instead. It's still fine if no laundry bags or garbage bags but at-least the basics like towels should not be an issue.

The location and the price are worth it. Some staff are super helpful and friendly and some are moody. Our room was very comfortable, with a functional washroom. Unfortunately, the AC was a pain. It sounds like a heavy motor. The function is on and off. When the room warms the AC starts blowing cold air and when the room cools the AC stops. Overall, it is a good place, it is situated near Grand Park, and 15 minutes way from the downtown Loop and the Art Institute of Chicago. If you want to commute by subway, Roosevelt station is less than 5 minutes away. As mentioned early, for the price and location, this place is good.

I don't do many reviews. However, I came to this establishment with my Track Team from California. Although the first day was great the second day was completely ruined by one person (whom would not give me his name when I asked for it. Latino gentleman about 25-30 yo, chubby and with glasses. Started yelling at me until I threatened him with a letter to corporate. Also there were 3 bugs found in my room. We will NEVER return

This was the first Best Western I have ever stayed at. With nothing to really compare my experience to, other than my stay at a Motel 6 and Econolodge, I can say that overall my stay was decent. The pros about this place: Staff I met were really friendly and helpful, there is an elevator, they have computers down stairs you can use during your stay, the room was clean and affordable (under $100 through Hotels.com), and the location is excellent - close to downtown attractions, the CTA train Roosevelt stop, and tons of stores and restaurants including Yolk next door which is great for breakfast. The cons of this place include: the bathrooms - mine was really small and the construction of it was uneven, so the door would swing open and closed by itself and even the floor from the bathroom to bedroom was not leveled out well. There was also no mini-fridge in the room as promised. I paid for a room that supposedly would include one, but it was nowhere to be found. Not sure if this was Hotel.com's fault or theirs, but either way, their advertisement is misleading. As someone mentioned on here, only suites carry the fridges. The walls are paper thin and I could hear someone's phone conversation word for word in the room across from me, which makes me think they more than likely heard mine too. The elevator is also pretty cramped and tight, so if you're claustrophobic, then this wouldn't be the best place for you. Overall, it was a good place to rest my weary body after a long plane ride and regroup for two nights, but I wouldn't recommend it for an extended stay. I personally would not return, only because I have found better comparable places in the area since then.

I understand that because of the Pandemic things are changing but customer service should never be compromised I understand about housekeeping not cleaning your room due to risk of exposure, but we only had one roll of toilet paper when I called the front desk to request a new roll the guy told me that I would have to come down and get it, ok good thing it wasn't an emergency so when I asked for a late check out he felt the need to inform me that if we stay over the hour that he gave me I would be charged for an extra day as if the hotel is full and people are dying to get in here also parking is none existant here but they do have a parking garage ,BUT it costs the same per day as the room rate...........SORRY THIS IS THE LAST TIME I STAY HERE......PERIOD! P.S. They only recieved 2 stars based on the location.

Horrible experience with bad management. I am not likely to stay at this hotel nor recommend anyone else stay at this hotel due to this experience. I stayed here on August 30th with use of my best western points. Upon arrival my wife had to urgently use the bathroom so I decided to wait in the car curbside with my 2 year old son while she came into the hotel lobby to use the restroom. She found the restrooms locked so she went to the front desk to seek assistance. My wife was then lectured by your supervisor who stated his name was Joseph for not using a mask and told only guests can use the restroom. This is after she explained I would be checking in after she came back to the car. Even so she was denied bathroom use resulting in her partially wetting her pants. At this point I checked in. After check in my wife went to go to the room to use the bathroom and a female at the front desk who must have witnessed what occurred prior attempted to give my wife a key for the public restroom to allow for quick access. The supervisor at this point stepped in and loudly stated "oh she doesn't need the key she is going to her room" After getting settled in I approached the supervisor to discuss the prior situation. He disregarded my comments and implied that he could have me kicked out. I am not sure what is wrong with this guy or if he was having a bad day but my opinion is someone with lack of respect for customers should not be in a supervision role and for someone to let someone partially wet their pants is a disgrace in general. If my employee did this they would be terminated.

Should be -5 stars get what you pay for and I guess at 200$ a night it's by far the worse hotel ever stained linens from sheets to requesting extra bedding and one elevator working so if your trying to get to your room quickly expect extra 15 mins at least musty rooms and hallways as well as hearing a smoke alarm all night long.

Clean and friendly! I just stayed there for 4 nights, and it was great. The room was the right size and had everything I needed. There is free breakfast every morning, and the staff is so friendly. The place is spotless and well taken care of. I highly recommend this motel. Great place to stay and right next to a good restaurant too.

I really wish that I can give this place five stars but I cannot. The staff was super friendly, I wish able to check in early and my room was upgraded to a suite at no extra cost and I was very comfortable. The view was pretty decent and the location was great. I wasn't far from the train station and there are many surrounding bus stops. However, during my three night stay, I've accumulated itchy red sores all over my body. I counted 13 raised areas from the first night alone. I really didnt want to assume that they are from bugs, and maybe I had a reaction to the detergent used but they resemble mosquito bites. I've stay in many hotels before and never had this problem.

If I could give it zero star I would worsted experience ever first time to Chicago the hotel service is bad no help The room was clean I got a shower and one of the towels had a stain and a very nasty smell it smelled like shit when I booked online it said parking available and breakfast. When we got to the hotel we were told we had to pay extra for parking and that breakfast was not included When i checked out I actually left my son blanket in the room I couldn't go to the room a see if I could find it they told me I had to wait to see if there supervisor where going to check and that they will call if they found anything I WILL NEVER COME BACK NEVER

If I could give this hotel less than 1 star I would. This is my worst experience in any hotel by far. I had several items stolen from my room while i was at dinner including my employers property. The manager was very nonchalant about this and would not return my calls or respond to my emails. There was no sense of urgency and the hotel staff was very rude. Upon arrival, I waited 30 minutes in line to get checked in. Do yourself a favor and get another hotel.

First of all, after you park... you can't take your car from valet unless you want to pay $30 smh and then the walls are thin, every time a door shuts... you will hear it very loud. And when you want to leave, your valet will take forever because they only have one person working on a Sunday smh.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. When you walk in to the lobby, there's no AC. No AC in the elevators either. Just in your room. On our phone there was no button to call guest service so we had to go back down to request more towels and blankets. Our friends staying in the same exact price room, didn't have a fridge and their room was smaller. I'm assuming there's no room cleaning due to covid, however, they could offer fresh towels and more toilet paper. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Do not use the Valet service at this hotel and if you do, don't lose your parking slip. Just last weekend, they parked our minivan and when we got it back later that same night, it had incurred thousands of dollars in damages. They didn't offer to pay for it and/or do anythin to make up for it.

Note: No free breakfast as is normally expected from this chain. First, the hotel manager Octavio is superb. "If you're not happy, I'm not happy, and I'm all about customer service." And within his power, he meant it. Despite the outside, modern look, this is most certainly a no-frills place. The rooms have no refrigerators, the gym equipment needs maintenance, and the advertised 3rd-floor sundeck was closed for renovation. You can't beat the location or price, but you can beat just about everything else, because nothing else is very memorable.

The staff was polite but didn't seem in such a great mood. The hotel room was clean , the bed mattress isn't the most comfy thing ever but it does the job if you're exhausted. The perks about this hotel is that it's close to millennium park and great breakfast spots like Yolk & wild berry pancake & cafe.

I would actually give this hotel 0/5 stars because not only was it dirty (there were crackers all over the floor) but there weren't outlet covers on the outlets, which could be a safety hazard. Next, our towels and sheets had black skid marks on them and there were dark hairs everywhere! Wall stains were also present. Finally, worst of all I found a cockroach in my bed! It was alive, I am scarred. Disgusting, nasty place. Do NOT recommend. Decorations also get 0/5 stars. Honestly I'm appalled.

This place is a disappointment. The lobby is drab and looks like the waiting room in an old, out of date dentist's office. With the exception of the nice man who parks your cars, acts as a concierge, takes care of luggage, helps you to your room, the employees seem to hate their job and therefore, not very inviting to talk to. I can see why. The room has nice beds but the pillows are doll size. There were pubic hairs and long thick dark hairs in the bed. There was supposed to be a fridge in the room. But surprise! There is a fridge console and when you open it, it's empty. The shower water never gets warmer than room temperature and the tub doesn't drain. The room is noisy and the parking is $50 per night and it's 3 blocks away. If you want to take your car out, it's a big ordeal and you have to summon the all-purpose person and then tip while he goes and gets it and then puts it back. The room price is equivalent to most of the moderately priced hotels in the area. On the plus side, it's in a great location

I am a rewards member and have stayed at several BW throughout the US. While the location is great, that is all it has going for it! The rooms are tiny, musty and need upgrading. As i checked in, i was never acknowledged as a rewards member, like most BWs do upon check in. We walked into the room and it felt musty. We turned on the AC but that made the room either too cold or too hot and it sounded like a jet engine taking off. The pillows were lumpy and the room was not very Clean. Also we wanted to put our leftovers in the fridge, so we opened the cabinet where the fridge should have been and it was empty! We called the front desk to ask about it and they said only suites have refrigerators. Well, if thats the case why put in the cabinet for it and have it empty. Would NEVER stay here again especially for how much they charge. Not worth the value at all. And NO complimentary breakfast either.

My stay consisted of lack of heat, stained towels, pubic hairs, and bed bugs. Manager Octavio Gonzalez gave me the round around only to say oh, that's a shame. Hope you come back. It may be cheaper, but just pay the extra $10 for a comfortable night of sleep. This place is not worth the issues you'll run across.

It was my first time traveling to Chicago. I travelled there last November in Thanksgiving Day. It was really easy to travel from the O'hare airport from the L train to Grant Park Best western. That easy, just a little walk. Soon as I walk in to the hotel I was greeted and Got my room fast. After I went in the room the heater was on which was much needed, in the cold! It was easy walking distances to tourist attractions such as the Shedd Aquarium, Museums, Millennium Park, which was like 10-15 minute walk. I will give this hotel 100% satisfaction, the front desk also helped me out to see which restaurant was open on Thanksgiving day. 1.The room was clean, great okay views 2. Walking distance to tourist attractions 3. great view of the city by the pedestrian bridge across the hotel 4. great hotel 5. and also nearby restaurants like Yolk, Five guys, and Ginos!

If you honestly care about your hotel and require decent service, then you may want to look elsewhere. Personally, I hardly spend time in hotel rooms. I'm always out and about exploring so I only use hotels to sleep and shower. So if you are like me, best western isn't a terrible choice. Location is a major benefit of staying at this location! Soldier field is a short walk away so if you are in Chicago during football season, you could try to check out a Bears game. If you prioritize learning over entertainment, this hotel provides easy access to some of the major museums in the area (Field museum, The Are Institute of Chicago, Alder Planetarium, etc.). Foodies will rejoice in knowing that a couple awesome breakfast spots (bongo room) and coffee shops are located in the vicinity as well as a Lou Malnati's Pizzeria! Need to travel farther from the hotel? The train station is just on Roosevelt. The hotel does appear disheveled at times. The hallways are dim and feel cramped. Ice is located every other floor. Furniture certainly seemed dated and dingy. Furthermore, if you have leftover food from an awesome night out, you have to be a bit creative as the rooms don't have microwaves or fridges. All in all, this hotel will be suitable for some people but a terrible option for others. Chicago is an amazing city and there are plenty of things to do. Figure out what you want to do and what you require in a hotel so you won't waste money on a room that fails to meet your needs.

There's tape on our ceiling and walls from the guest before us. Linens are stained. Cracks in the wall and chipped paint. If you're spending zero time in the hotel it would be fine.

To be fair, the location of this hotel is awesome. Also, the staff here was exemplary in terms of professionalism and friendliness. The rooms were pretty standard but I felt they lacked some basic amenities. There was no complimentary continental breakfast. Some websites and reviews said there was, some said otherwise. Not a huge loss but funny factoring in that it's only admitted officially in a flyer, in the room, in a desk drawer. The same flyer then suggests the terrible attached Mei's Kitchen to the side entrance. (Feel free to read those reviews) Total bait and switch tactic, specially when they tape the crummy menu to the elevator interior walls like it's some sort of amenity. Furthermore, no refrigerator. No folder filled with local attractions, restaurant suggestions. Elevator hall call button panel falling off the wall. Ice machine falling apart, leaking. Exhaust fan howling in the bathroom you can't turn off. Potential Guests Beware, they're building a large high rise inches away from the exterior wall of this place. There will be the sounds of chop saws and jackhammers during the day. To sum it all up, I enjoyed staying here because it was convenient and cheap. However, when the nearby construction is done, I wouldn't be surprised to see this location raise their rates significantly.

I have stayed here many times and love this hotel. The hotel is walking distance to Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, and Field Museum, a little longer walk to Millennial Park, and a short ride to Navy Pier or upper Michigan Ave. The front desk staff have always been lovely and friendly. This visit Armena was at the front desk and she was fabulous! Have lots of suggestions to us and made arrival after a several hour drive fun and relaxing!

I am not really sure why all the crappy reviews. From glancing at a lot of the people seem to complain mostly about the construction... well all of that seems to be done and you can tell that the hotel rooms are recently updated. I would say this hotel definitely isn't anything fancy but it isn't garbage either. For the price, it is definitely a great hotel. I need a hotel just for the night. Literally for 8 hours, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Just needed to sleep between events I was attending. The check-in staff was nice and accountable, the hotel room was clean and had all the basics. I don't have any complaints at all. It was a pleasant time and they did a great job with what I needed. Since I was staying only overnight, I did not do the valet parking as I felt the price didn't fit my needs. A tip I found is that if you park on the street the front door is on, but park on the north end of the street then parking is available 24 hours. You only need to pay between 8 am and 10 pm. I showed up at 9:30 pm and left at 6am so I only needed to pay for 30 minutes which was a fraction of valet parking. The valet parking is a great option though if you want to pull your car in and out. The area also felt safe and walkable to many many places.

Worst hotel ever. Save yourself the trouble and stay in another hotel. Upon arrival, it took 30mins just to get checked in. During my stay, i went out to dinner and came back to an unpleasant surprise. Several electronic items( both work and personal) had been stolen from my hotel room. Management was very slow with the response and told me they will not be taking liability.
