"Super-stylish bakery Beth Biundo Sweets is here to make Carnival dreams come true with a multi-layered, Mardi Gras-inspired cake with purple, green, and gold wedding cake-flavored layers held together by vanilla buttercream. The thing is that it tastes as good as it looks. It’s available by the slice at the bakery, or in 6” ($34), 8” ($47), and 10” ($69) rounds by pre-order. Tip: Stop by Martin’s Wine Cellar around the corner from Beth Biundo to grab a bottle of Champagne or sparkling dessert wine to take to the bakery and enjoy with a slice." - Stephanie Carter

We had Beth Biundo Sweets do the cake and cookies for a family event. My girlfriend took care of the ordering and pick up. She reported a few hiccups with the front staff. She won't describe them as rude, but they were not overly helpful. According to her, they kind of fell into that category of helper that treats you like you don't know what you're doing. The draw to Beth Biundo Sweets was that the cakes are beautiful and potentially delicious. I will say, that was pretty much the case with our cake. Cake was quite good looking. The sponge was dense and rich. Even without the icing, the chocolate sponge held its own. I think it had a buttercream icing. Great sponge to icing ratio. Decadent for sure, but cakes should be decadent. We bought a few dozen decorated cookies. I think they were sugar cookies. I did not expect much by way of taste. They were more for show. The decorative icing was pathetic. The font was a half-step up from sloppy kindergartener. In summary... Cake - crushed it Cookies - sad Service - ok Too many places in town to get a good cake. We will not repeat.

Google
My god their double chocolate malt cookie is the stuff of dreams. Their chocolate chip cookie is worthy of a runner up mention. Each cookie was priced at $2. What a phenomenal price! Customer service was nice and the space was spacious and bright. I didn’t try their tarts or their individual pound cakes but they looked really tasty as well. This is a great little spot to indulge with a cookie or two, or three or four or…

They did an absolutely outstanding job on my friend's 30th birthday cake!!! I ordered the succulent design, it was truly the most beautiful and delicious cake I have ever had and was such a big hit! I honestly thought the price should have been higher for the quality. When I called the employees were so kind and helpful. I have recommended this bakery several times since and will go nowhere else in the future. PHENOMENAL JOB!

Cannot recommend this bakery enough!! Just got married in October 2019. We got cookies from Beth for the bridal shower and for our wedding “cookie table” - her sugar cookies are the best I’ve ever had. We also got our wedding cake from Beth - which was an easy decision after the tasting. Her buttercream icing is to die for. Our wedding cake was beautiful! She was always available and responsive throughout the planning process and worked with our florist to add real flowers to the cake. I got so many compliments on the wedding cake that night and the next day! I even ate my leftover cake for breakfast on the airplane on the way to our honeymoon!

I owe drinks to my friends who recommended Beth as one of the best in town. I ordered cake for my daughter’s 18th birthday. Absolutely fabulous! A cake does not get any better. The esthetics of it were as amazing as the taste. And because I had to stop by the shop twice, we were treated to some king cake and other sweets. Everything is great but the customer service makes it even better. We are very grateful and highly recommend.

Google
Charming place with excellent staff. The pumpkin rosemary bundt cake topped with pine nuts was an interesting flavor combination, but my favorite was the Satsuma pound cake. The crust on the apple tart was outstanding, crisp and buttery. Beautiful, calm store with a peaceful vibe and fun gifts to browse.

This owner operated sweetshop has a glorious New Orleans energy, comfortable seating, ample parking and all the things you want a sweet shop to be. Oh, wait. The cookies and brownies and cakes and assorted other treats are distinctive and beyond compare too. Go for the easy parking. Stay for the sweets.

Yelp
Damn are Beth Biundo cakes drop dead gorgeous. I was lucky enough to pick up my birthday gift from my boss here and tbh hadn't heard about this gourmet bakery until last month. Was able to promptly park my car with free street parking (SCORE) and quietly walked in. There are a few chairs and tables to enjoy your sweets on-site if one desires. I believe they might even serve coffee but forgot to verify for y'all. What really stood out to me though was the presentation of the cake and the seamless checkout process. It's an open bakery so it was pretty neat to be seeing them in action and it is a full blown operation! I was presented with my cake and the piping was mind-damn-blowing. It was reminiscent of my childhood with a desert/palm springs vibe and it looked like a mini piece of art. Technically it's edible art so I'm not too far off. My table loved the cake and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Yelp
I have been a huge Beth Biundo fan since she was the pastry chef at Lilette. Everything she makes is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Her shop is a delight, as you can also pick up fun and unique greeting cards and gifts along with the scrumptious offerings. Her cupcakes are little works of art, and there isn't a better chocolate chip cookie in the city. She also makes amazing things like Nutella ice cream and pistachio ice cream sandwiches. During Mardi Gras, I love her sugar cookies decorated like miniature king cakes. I dare you to find anything cuter! And of course, I commissioned Beth to make my wedding cake. She makes a "succulent" cake that looks so cool, and she did an amazing job with the groom's cake as well. Stop in and try all the things!!

Yelp
I ordered a yellow cake with chocolate icing. The letters were not centered. The cake was very dense and heavy. Not light and fluffy like a typical yellow cake. Was kind of hard to cut through. I unfortunately trashed the cake and didn't even finish one slice. My 35th birthday was ruined

Yelp
We had Beth Biundo Sweets do the cake and cookies for a family event. Shari V took care of the ordering and pick up. She reported a few hiccups with the front staff. She won't describe them as rude, but they were not overly helpful. According to her, they kind of fell into that category of helper that treats you like you don't know what you're doing. Do you know the type? The workers do something like take baked good orders all day, and they aren't really sure why you don't know how to order a custom cake without asking a few questions. The draw to Beth Biundo Sweets was that the cakes are beautiful and potentially delicious. I will say, that was pretty much the case. Cake was quite good looking. Pic should be attached. The sponge was dense and rich. Even without the icing, the chocolate sponge held its own. I think it had a buttercream icing. Great sponge to icing ratio. Yelp
I'm so happy I finally made it in here! This place is within walking distance of my house (dangerous) but the hours are sub-optimal because I work a 9-5 job so basically the only day I can ever go is on Saturdays and it's hard for me to remember that that's the only day I can make it. A few times I have walked by on Saturdays and it's looked closed. So basically all of this means that after a year of living nearby I FINALLY made it in. I got an olive oil cake with marscapone topping and it was awesome!! Definitely one of the best, if not the best, pastry/cake I've had in New Orleans. It will be well worth the effort to make it back to try more of her sweets!

Yelp
Awesome bake goods great service. Wonderful staff. Beth is the best. Confection perfection

Yelp
Yelp is so weird. I wrote a review of this location at it's grand opening... And my photos are still there but the review poof! The treats that I bought were delicious. The plum tart (which doesn't appear to be on her regular menu) was particularly amazing and beautiful. And y'all know I am a sucker for iced cookies. Yummy. The space is lovely and super sparkling white but not sterile. How do places accomplish that? I need to stop back in and sample more.

Isabel S.

Yelp
The cookies are good but not worth dealing with the staff at the cash register. I just today had my second experience in there where no one said hi when I walked in despite clearly seeing me - and they buzzed around doing their own thing while I waited. I'd much rather go to Gracious Bakery, Leo's Breads, Bellegarde, Levee Bakery or Mayhew Bakery- or even frankly the Tastee Donuts out on Clearview- with my money rather than be ignored by staff as I wait.

Yelp
I've never had anything from Beth Biundo that wasn't mind-blowingly delicious and we can just go ahead and add her king cake pound cake to that list. Her bakery is so chic and I love the very open design where you can sometimes catch a glimpse of cookies being decorated or cakes being baked in the kitchen. I've had her sugar cookies, her pound cake, and her ice cream sandwiches and they've all been fantastic. She always has special treats for all the different holidays too so you can always count on her for themed desserts. I often see Beth there meeting with people and just enjoying her own space, which is why it feels so great to give back to her. I think this place has become my favorite local, self-owned business. No surprise it's a dessert shop lol

Yelp
I have been wanting to go here since it opened in August. Then, last weekend I was at a birthday party and there was a beautiful, rich pink ombré cake. I unfortunately didn't try a piece, but I did ask where the cake was from and was told Beth Biundo Sweets. That's when I knew I needed to go already! Today, I realized it was literally a 3 minute drive from my job so I finally decided to stop in (and I'm so glad I did). I came in wanting to get some sweets for my fiancé, but I couldn't help getting something for myself. The selection is small, but it is unique and carefully crafted. I personally like that there weren't too many sweets because it seems more boutique to me that way (and fresh, too). I really wanted to try a tart, but I couldn't resist ordering the almond brittle cookie so I got that for me, a crawfish cookie for my fiancé and a wedding cake cupcake for my fiancé. The cookie was delicious and the little pieces of almond brittle on top gave it a nice crunch! It was crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside-just like a perfect cookie should be. The crawfish cookie was yummy too. Now for the cupcake-it was so hard not eating this cupcake before my fiancé got home. I kept thinking back to the cake that I saw last weekend and how good it looked, so I obviously couldn't wait to try the cupcake. The glutton in me was so tempted to just eat it for him, but I decided not to. With that said, as soon as he got home I made him eat it so I could take a bite. Luckily for me, it turns out he doesn't like wedding cake (who knew) so I got to eat the cupcake all by myself. It was super rich and moist-exactly how I envisioned it. The only thing I didn't love was how much frosting was on it so I took some off-but that's just my personal preference! The inside of the bakery is also really inviting, spacious and bright. The next time I come back I'd have my order to stay so I could relax, eat and read a book. All in all, I'm so glad I finally got around to trying out this bakery, and given how close it is to where I work I'll definitely be back again soon!

Yelp
I had tried Beth's lemon cake at a wedding in 2017, and I knew I wanted it for our December 2019 wedding. I contacted her a year and a half in advance (that was not totally necessary). We had a tasting just to be sure in May of 2018, and then everything else was done over email! I loved working with Beth and I love that cake so, so much. What's even better is I had random wedding guests contact me days after "WHERE WAS THAT CAKE FROM"? The design was simple, and we added some flowers to make the cake look simple stunning. My belief with wedding cake is: it should be beautiful and incredibly delicious. I wanted something different, and I decided if we were going to pay for a cake at all, it was going to be the best cake ever. SO I went with Beth Biundo Sweets. Highly recommend to those planning a wedding in New Orleans!

Yelp
I so wish I had a photo of my husband's beautiful 30th carrot cake, but it was devoured in minutes! I am NOT a carrot cake fan and I thoroughly enjoyed this delicious, classic version. The cream cheese frosting was to die for and the design was whipped and not over the top at all. The shop is chic and in an easy to reach location uptown, which only added to the shop's appeal. I only wish I had used this location for my wedding cake! Delicious coffee too! Can't wait to return for something just for me on a sunny New Orleans day.

Dave D.

Yelp
Got my daughters wedding cake here in October after she and my wife tried several places. It was wonderful, we were thrilled with it. That's all I know since I don't stop in bakeries or sweet shops often, but believe me, if you need a top notch wedding cake, this is the spot.

Marilyn W.

Yelp
What's not to love about Beth!!! The eggnog pound cake is AMAZING. The chocolate cake she uses for her muffins are simply delicious. But the sugar cookies. I know you're thinking, it's sugar cookies but hers are melt in your mouth explosion of sugar and butter. I love this place. And if i can ever catch the cheddar biscuits while they're still warm I'm going to ask her to marry me!

Shobelloby S.

Yelp
Ms. Biundo's treats fall well in line with her previous deliciousness I experienced at Lilette over the years. Her bakery is even better. You can taste the freshness of ingredients-the butter mostly. It's all about the butter. Not a big fan of sugar cookies, but I will eat all of hers if you put a plate in front of me. The brownies are great. The tarts are great. If I were on death row, I'd request everything from this bakery for my final meal.

Pat B.

Yelp
Bought a bag of her Mardi Gras-theme sugar cookies on a whim to be festive - and OMG these are the best sugar cookies ever! Perfect level of sweetness without being cloying. Must return and try her other offerings.

Krista G.

Yelp
We ordered a simple, one-tier wedding cake for our intimate wedding at the Ace Hotel. Even though the bakery is closed on Sundays, Beth made sure that the cake was delivered fresh and on time. Everyone loved the pink ombre inside! We were extremely happy with our cake, and would recommend Beth to anyone local who is looking for sweet treats!

Marie B.

Yelp
I am so disappointed. I had a cake here once before and it was DELICIOUS, but I ordered a birthday cake this past Saturday for that night. The cake was SO DRY, and it didn't taste like almond cake at all. I don't want to give this review because I had such a great experience the last time but for what it cost it wasn't good.

Jane C.

Yelp
First time at Beth Biundo Sweets and I was not disappointed. The ambience of the bakery is relaxed and the interior decoration of the store is simply beautiful with a lot of open space. There is a small seating area to enjoy the goods (can maybe sit up to 12 people) but the seats were very comfortable. In the middle of the store there are gifts and cute cards that people could purchase. Right when we walk in, we caught a whiff of the fresh oven-baked goods. The staff member was very sweet and helpful. Beth Biundo was there too and she came over to help take our order and answer questions we had about the treats. We tried the peanut brittle ice cream and the ginger apple pound cake. Both were delicious. Everything is made fresh on-site, including the ice cream and I could taste the creamy freshness. The consistency of the ginger apple pound cake was rich but not overpowering. We were there a little early so there weren't as many options to pick from, and the display case was a little bare but we were very happy with what we picked and will definitely be back again.

Ariane S.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!!!! We stopped in this little gem of a bakery -- which is so beautifully designed that I'd like to just move in -- and had the prosecco citrus pound cake, Nutella tarte, and a still-warm-from-the-oven chocolate chip cookie. Everything was excellent. I'd be here every week if I didn't live 2000 miles away. Go and treat yourself!!

Angelique B.

Yelp
Wonderful bakery just down the street from Martin wine cellars. Bought a ombré cake to bring to a dinner party. Hostess was thrilled. Cake was a big hit. It's pleasing to the eye and the sweet tooth. Can't wait to try the ice cream sandwiches.

Catherine F.

Yelp
I wish I'd taken a picture of my daughters baptism cake. It was lopsided and they messed up the words and left a large smudge of pink when they tried to remove the icing and rewrite it. Did not offer a discount. I should have asked for one because it did not look professional at all. Tasted fine and the cookies were delicious.

C L.

Yelp
I tried her cake at a birthday party and it was stale. I asked if it was made a a few days prior and he said he just pick it up that same day. He said he followed her directions to keep it fresh since the party was starting a few hours after. He said that him and his wife had tried her chocolate cupcake earlier and it was moist and fresh. He doesn't know why the cake was stale. Unfortunately, he was not the kind of person who would have demanded his money back. So this last Saturday's birthday party would have been perfect for P. As the cake had ruined an almost perfect day! Sad...
