Food was good. Service was TERRIBLE!!!!
The Caprese sandwich, bacon ciabatta, spicy ranch chicken wrap and turnkey pesto were fresh, tasty and delicious.
Service was DEFINITELY lacking as every single employee did not appear to be happy to be working, no smiles, no acknowledgment snd no eye contact when they WERE forced to have to make contact with a customer.
The place was PACKED as the very popular pancake house next door was extremely crowded so this was the only alternative within walking distance.
Also, be prepared for the cashier to shove the debit card reader in your face when it is time to include a tip as she did so to me and every single customer I observed while I waited and waited and waited some more for my food.
The girl making coffee was TERRIBLE as she was VERY rude and short with EVERY single customer.
My order came out one item at a time which forced us to start eating at different times
And finally, the only guy working behind the counter was bad. He was clearly overworked, short and had no customer service skills.
He appeared to become agitated when I asked for a status on my smoothie.
It had been fifteen minutes and I noticed that customers who placed their beverage orders after my order, were being called to pick their orders up from the counter.
I mentioned this fact to this male employee and his exact words to me were, "we are busy. It will be ready when it is ready".
I waited a few more minutes, he finally grabbed my smoothie from a small window leading to the kitchen, slid it across the counter without saying a word and turned to start doing something else within arms reach.
I stated, "thank you" in a loud but appreciative manner and this dude did not bother to acknowledge me even after I had just spent over $80.00 on four sandwiches, one smoothie and two small sodas.
I visit La Jolla often as I truly love this area but as for my family and I, this was the last time we visit this specific restaurant. Never again!
