Betty Crocker/General Mills will end up killing somebody, if they haven’t already and they don’t care.
I bought brownie mix, made the mix and took the obvious giant lick of the batter left on the spoon. I proceeded to chock. I’ll spare you the details of how I got out the cause of chocking. Basically it was a plastic piece that obviously broke off a machine at their plant. Posted pics of brand & item with quarter next to it for scale.
Now, if this was the first time Betty Crocker tried to kill me, I’d contact them and let it go, but this is the SECOND time this has happened. First time was about 15 years ago. I bought hamburger helper, poured the box ingredients into the skillet of cooked meat and half was white plastic pieces that fell out. Not 1 or 2, but a handful of different sizes. Things happen and I didn’t make a big deal, so when I contacted Betty Crocker they apologized and sent me several coupons for free hamburger helper boxes. Ok fine, I wasted hamburger meat, time, etc but a couple free 1.75 boxes are good.
Now this being the second time and I chocked on it, I’m angry. I contacted Betty Crocker with pics I posted here. Received a prompt response with “we’ll look into it” & get back to you. Asked for pics…ok I added them before but did again. Then another email asking questions about how I found the item & how I chocked. I responded and over a month later they responded they will review. That was several months ago.
I’m old school and don’t believe in suing at the drop of a dime. I’ve had a lot happen to me with brands like these that I could have sued, but didn’t cause again things happen. But when it’s the same brand twice that’s not only very trusted to have high quality control, but I chocked and then they dismiss me…I’m looking into legal action. My gut was to sue at first, but once I seen they were responding within reasonable time, I thought whatever they advised would be fine. Now I feel dismissed, disappointed and disgusted with not only the brand’s quality and quality control, but lack of concern for their customers. What if this happens to a child! I’m seeking advice from our family lawyers.
