One of the most peaceful places to dine I’ve ever been to. I had a delicious lunch that was presented beautifully. I’ve been thinking about this meal ever since. The sweet chili cauliflower wings are divine. I can’t believe how mouthwatering the spicy jackfruit crab roll is. The spicy mang and sweet tree are a great combination together. I will be back and I honestly can’t wait to keep trying additional menu items. I believe my server’s name was Jay, and he was wonderful! Keep up the great service, the incomparable atmosphere and delicious food.

Almost everyone has doubts about vegan restaurants but Beyond Sushi is definitely beyond your imagination. Anthony welcomed us with a big smile as we walked in and promptly seated us. He thoroughly explained the menu full of plant-based vegan and kosher heaven. Best of all, there’s also a cocktail and drinks menu from their full bar. Anthony meticulously crafted each cocktail with perfection. We ordered a sushi roll and nigiri as appetizer and cannot believe it was all vegan. The shoyu ramen and chili noodles also came with Yo Egg which is a soy-based poached egg with leaky yolk. For dessert, their pandan cake and ube cashew cheesecake makes you wonder how it can be vegan. Every bite feels like you are tricking your brain into eating beyond vegan food items. Come try and have a taste of perfection while saving the planet. Dined for lunch with a friend - it was delicious. We both ordered lunch specials. Rolls were a good size. Ingredients were fresh. Yes, it's vegan, but every roll had its own flavor. None of the rolls were particularly spicy, but I'm sure you could ask to kick it up a notch or get some dipping sauce on the side. The Nutty Buddy Wrap (only roll not pictured) was more like a spring roll (in size, texture, etc). We enjoyed so much we'll be coming back before we head home.

Overpriced for the quality. This was a big step down from Coletta, by the same owner, where we ate two nights earlier (absolutely amazing). Menu items are super small here and overpriced for what you get. My bf ordered the bao expecting the traditional (dumpling style) bao, but received "open" bao where the bun is basically just bread. I feel like this is a cheap move on their part, especially since the menu did not specify. The mushroom dumplings I ordered were good, but a little too salty and dry. I also expected my $7 juice to be pure fresh-juiced fruit, but it tasted watered down. Aside from food, both the ambience and our waiter were top-notch. You can tell Guy V. really knows how to pick waitstaff.

I’ve been to Beyond Sushi a couple times and always love trying out new menu items (since everything is fair game for vegans!). The staff are very friendly as well and it’s a good date spot or spot to meet up and catch up with friends since it never gets too loud or crowded. My recommendation for orders would be to stick with the Special Rolls, since they’re worth the added cost IMO.

We got the "chicken" skewers, the spicy salmon roll, and the charred avocado. I couldn't decide whether I wanted to finish with the spicy salmon or the skewers! Great service, but ambience is better at the Herald Square location.

The spanikopita appetizer and sushi rolls were very good! Was nice to have a delicious vegan feta with the appetizer. The pastas needed a little more salt and a little thicker sauce, and the pine nuts were just slightly over roasted, but the pasta itself was very good. Would recommend the ravioli over the tortellini, as the filling is more flavorful. Cookie dessert was good and cute because it's in a little pan, it was just a touch undercooked in the center but not a deal breaker. The ice cream was delicious.

Beyond Sushi is an amazing experience for Vegans craving the comfort of sushi. This is my second time visiting and I am always highly impressed. We got the Crunchy Ube Roll, Spicy Mang Roll and the Rainbow Roll. The Crunchy Ube wins for the best roll. We also got the Fried Chick’n Bao not pictured which was the best food item. For drinks we got the Lychee Juice and the Omne Gang IPA. The Lychee Juice is amazing and everyone should try. The beer is not too heavy and not too light and has a good back end. Service was 10/10. Must go and try!

I've never had a bad dish at Beyond Sushi and I've been to at least 3 of their locations. Love the rolls and the soup. But my favorite of all are the dumplings!! The paper thin dough, hearty filling and seasonings are just perfect. The mushroom dumplings are my go to. Today we tried the beef ones! And I used to also get the sweet potato dumplings which I didn't see on the menu. Sigh:( But I didn't mind trying something new instead of ordering the same things I usually do. Even if you're not vegan/vegetarian you should definitely try this place to appreciate the art of food. Like the "caviar" on top of the Smoky Dragon roll that's made of seaweed that tastes pretty much like the real thing. It's astounding. Love love Beyond!

Food and service was good. We came at a time when it wasn't too crowded. This is a great option for vegetarians and non alike who are looking for a healthy and tasty dining experience.

Beyond Sushi was a highlight of vegan food tour of NY. I loved the food here. The service was helpful and friendly. We ordered one shiitake truffle dumpling, One spicy jackfruit crab roll that was my favorite, and one other roll that I liked yet my girlfriend thought was too fish like in it's realistic vegan fish imitating raw fish for the quintessential sushi experience aka sashimi. The only thing I didn't care for was the music yet my girlfriend didn't mind. Beyond Sushi is an A+ for vegan dining in NY.

Wowowowow! Such a cute little restaurant w an amazing menu! We ordered : Lychee lavender martini-- (9/10) "Loved the flavor, just wish it was a bit stronger. Knock me out my seat next time." Ginger beef dumplings-- (10/10) Delicious! "The sauce was surprisingly good, a nice balance. Very impressed" Spicy jackfruit crab roll-- (10/10) "Loved it!" Spicy mango margarita -- (10/10) I LOVE A GOOD SPICY MARGARITA Oyster mushroom dumplings -- (10/10) SO GOOD Ube crunch roll-- (6.5/10) The flavors clashed a bit w the sweet chili sauce, the ube & the mushroom? (i think that's what was in it). Not too bad at all, it just needs some more work. Black sesame avocado cookie-- (9/10) Devoured that thing, it was so good! Nice, strong matcha flavor. -1 point for the texture of the cookie, but it was great. Customer service-- (10/10) Cleanliness of restaurant-- (9/10) So worth it!

Excellent vegan sushi and dumplings! My family and I liked every single dish we tried. We will definitely be going again to try the rest of their menu. Wanted to also mention that Chris did a great job of taking us through the menu and on learning that my wife is vegan spoke about the other restaurants under the chain that we should try.

As a hungry vegetarian I was very pleased with beyond sushi. I've been to their old flag ship location on 14th St. back in the day. I had an avocado sushi roll as well as very delicious dumplings and the sesame noodles. I also had both desserts that I split with my friend. I personally like the dumplings the best followed by the sushi. I was OK with the sesame noodles. It's very healthy. I like the friendly service. I so many couples on dates. My history with beyond sushi goes way back when the chef and owner guy was at New York sports club -Irving handling samples back in 2012. And I have been in love with me on sushi after the sample ever since. I'm glad that the Empire has grown.

Vegan Japanese place with a large menu of different options I came with my GF and some friends and we tried a bunch of different things including dumplings, sushi, and bao I am sure that this place is awesome if you are vegan, but for us non-vegans it was not our cup-of-tea

Tried some other menu items: - Rainbow Roll: Not bad, but probably would not get this again considering the price. I mostly just tasted the tangy picked vegetable. This roll didn't fall apart as easily as the Ube Crunch roll I got before though. - Charred Avocado: Would not get this again. I was hoping it'd taste similar to a California roll, but I didn't like the spicy (and somewhat sour) jackfruit filling at all. I also was expecting it to have a smoky flavor because it's called "_charred_ avocado" roll, but didn't taste the charred-ness.

Called takeout from here. Points for the neat presentation with the rolls intact and the cute tubes for the soy sauce and other sauces. We ordered a bunch of the rolls and my overarching comment is that, given it's a bunch of veggies and rice, the sauces do a lot to enhance the flavors. Without the sauces, everything tastes a little bland. Overall, quite a healthy meal with interesting combinations and a good option even for non-vegans/non-vegetarians. Cauliflower wings: I liked how the sriracha sauce was baked (or fried) into the batter so each piece wasn't slathered in sauce. That said, the batter tasted on the overly heavy/greasy end. (5/10) Spicy mang: Very fresh with the crunchy mango and veggie slaw but without any soy sauce, this needed some other sort of flavoring. (6/10) Mighty mushroom: By far our favorite of the rolls we ordered. The truffle sauce went perfectly with the components of the roll and I liked how they used shiitake and enoke (a few notches higher than the typical bella) with tofu. (9/10) Ube crunch: For $14, this was actually quite a hefty roll. The ube definitely carried through and was a nice combination with the pickled cucumbers and the mushrooms, though the green shiso got lost in the crowd. (7/10) Eggplant unagi: I had a version of this at Planta Queen and absolutely loved it. I'll order eggplant on any sort of sushi menu. This had a lot of flavor and was a great texture. (8/10) Definitely recommend the mighty mushroom and eggplant sushi. I appreciated how eating all of this didn't leave me with the bloated, weighed-down feeling that going HAM on sushi usually does. Would love to come back and try this in person.

The food here was excellent and the menu was surprisingly comprehensive for a place with Sushi in the name. We had bao, dumplings, and a rainbow roll that all tasted very accurate to non-vegan versions and were presented nicely. One star off because we ordered three items and one of them was either rung in improperly or mixed up in the kitchen. Other than this service was very quick and polite!

I love beyond sushi! Although I'm not a vegetarian, I love sushi and I love eating vegetarian dishes. This is a perfect marriage of the two and will satisfy sushi fans and vegetarians alike. The flavors are fun and bold and the presentation is spot on.

Great vegetarian sushi options at this plant based eatery. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived for a late Saturday lunch. Five spice chicken dumplings- great taste, must try. Favorite rolls- Spicy mang and Ube crunch. Nori taco sampler- they served mini tacos (for shared plate) which were expensive too! Overall, great tasting sushi and a must try to experience something different.

Love beyond sushi! The spicy mang and sweet tree are the best rolls they have! Also the ginger beef dumplings are delicious but the cookie skillet dessert is not that great. Modern interior with great service!

The food was so delicious. Took my best friend and niece there to celebrate their birthdays. The price was good and the food was better. Can't wait to go back. As a vegan it's nice being able to order whatever you want off of a menu.

Must try: Spicy Mango Roll, Nutty Buddy Rice Paper Wrap, and Fresh Coconut Mint Ceviche! Why: Awesome innovative vegan sushi and dishes. Everything I had was packed with flavor and I love the convenience of the sauces in a tube you easily squeeze or just pour. The Spicy Mango Roll has a nice mix of textures like soft black rice and avocado to a crunch from the cucumber and veggie slaw. The toasted cayenne sauce was not spicy and compliments the roll well. The Nutty Buddy Wrap also very tasty and a mix of textures in every bite from soft to crunchy. The ponzu sauce goes great with the wrap and the rice paper wrap itself held it's form well as I took each bite without it tearing apart. Lastly, I really like the Ceviche and it's citrus flavor with the homemade plantain chips. Note: Delivery was quick. They also had an extensive menu compared to their other locations with many things I'd like to try next time!

We were really disappointed with our visit to Beyond Sushi. The menu sounded really great but the flavors were very pedestrian and kind of boring! The spicy mang roll was just completely bland with a hit of siracha on top. We also ordered the nutty buddy which was ok, but nothing I'd order again. Also ordered the rainbow roll - amazing that the salmon and tuna really looked like salmon and tuna, but the flavors were just ok, nothing spectacular. The best thing we ate was a mushroom roll. Not phenomenal, but it was good. We also got some plain avocado sushi for our kid who doesn't like fancy flavors. We were genuinely shocked that they charged the same for a boring ass white rice + avocado roll as they did for their fancy rolls! $11 for an avocado roll?!?! No thanks. I love supporting vegan restaurants but this place needs to level up. It was just so mediocre!!!

Came to the restaurant during a cold and late afternoon. I was pleased to see there was no wait as there were only one other couple in the restaurant, so we were seated immediately. What I didn't enjoy were the seats. Empty restaurant and we got the corner seats by the bathroom, kitchen, and loud music speaker. I then realized how chilly the restaurant was so maybe this was in an attempt to keep us away from the front door as far as possible. Since it was empty, we didn't mind too much. What we did mind then was how uncomfortable the seats themselves were about halfway through our meal. They felt very stiff, cold, and too close to the ground. Service was quick and attentive by our first waiter, but after he ended his shift our new waitress seemed disinterested in serving us despite us being the only ones there. Despite all this, the food and drinks were excellent, everything is fresh and healthy and vegan. I was so amazed and impressed by the taste of the fake tuna, crab, and salmon! I was also impressed by the portion sizes + prices. I'd definitely come back but maybe in summer when it's not going to be so chilly both inside and outside. For now during winter I will be ordering again but only via takeout.

Beyond's appear to be taking over the world and with good reason too. You don't have to asterisk this place that it's good vegan food, it's good food, period. My best friend isn't strictly vegan, but keeps to it most of the time. Whenever we go out, she usually gets the salad or veggie burger, so when we made plans when she was up for a visit, I scoped out spots that would have more options for her. Fortunately, Beyond Sushi opened up here recently, in fact, they don't yet have their sign up, just a banner. And as of our visit on 2/22/20, they're still waiting for their liquor license. That kind of new. But no worries because we had plans to go out bar hopping after dinner. Everything on the menu sounded so exciting, but we went with the Fun Guy Dumplings, spicy mang and sweet tree sushi rolls and the hummus dip and rosemary bread. Fun fact, or rather not so fun, the hummus does not come with anything to dip in it!! Whaaat? So you HAVE to order the bread or chips to actually enjoy it, separately. I didn't like that. But everything else? Absolutely stellar. Even the rosemary bread we had to order to enjoy the hummus was great. The Fun Guy dumplings were incredible and my pick out of the rolls we ordered salute the sweet tree. The spicy mang was good too, but something about those sweet tree rolls has be salivating with just the thought. The restaurant makes for a charming date spot and our server was excellent. Food came out fast and everything went off without a hitch, so growing pains aren't a thing. The rosemary bread came in a cute flower pot, novelty of course, but it was a little hard to get out, we did have to get in there with our fingers. The hummus also surprised us! WE thought it was a little out of place to have hummus on a Japanese-inspired menu, but, the Israeli-style preparation exceeded our expectations. I would 100% return.

I'd been to a different Beyond Sushi once before, and while it was good, I don't think this location should even be using the same name, because the experience is on a whole different level. This place is worthy of date night or a special occasion dinner. They have an extensive (entirely plant-based) menu that includes veggie sushi as well as a whole array of other creative, beautiful dishes including cashew cheeses. Almost too many to choose from! The kale yeah dumplings were excellent: steamed, not pan-fried, so they weren't crisp, but still extremely flavorful. The kebabs entree was delicious! It's made with the impossible kebab (perfect flavor and texture) accompanied by tasty roasted potatoes and, most memorably, almost an entire crown of broccoli roasted and topped with tasty creamy sauce. The harissa could have been a little more flavorful. But overall, probably the first time I've ever paid $26 for a vegetarian entree and felt it was worth the money. The spicy mang sushi was very good. I'd probably try the pickle me or the smoky jack next time. The spanakopita was probably the most forgettable part of the meal. Still good, with its cashew-based feta, and fun to dip in the creamy dill caper dip, but not worth getting again especially when there are so many other amazing options! I seriously can't wait to come back here.

The food was very good but not quite as good as I was expecting based on the reputation. They do some interesting flavor combinations and it's wonderful that everything is vegan. Their lunch deal is the best way to dine here.

I wanted some vegan food near my job so a quick google search sent me to Beyond Sushi and I loved it! The cauliflower wings with the sweet chili sauce was out of this world! Ask for sauce on the side if to go but, they did it automatically for me. :) Next time I'll sit in and try more items in the menu when I'm not on a lunch break.

Pleasantly surprised by the Vegan entries. My daughter and I were looking for some good salad veggie options and happened to be walking by. Excellent food. Great location. Innovative opinions.

Looooooove this place. Such a unique concept and flawless execution. Consistently a delicious meal (and relatively healthy too!). The Spicy Mang is so refreshing and the impossible beef dumplings are to die for. Except, you know, not literally to die for. Cuz vegan. The only caveat is you need to order two portions to truly feel full, in my opinion. This makes the lunch special perfect since you get two portions. One of my favorite spots in the city.

So happy to have a vegan restaurant on the UES! Beyond sushi is one of my go-to spots. Super flavourful good, doesn't feel like you're eating regular mock meat. My top two favourites are the shiitake truffle (dumplings) and the gua bao. The shiitake truffle is so so good, and great consistency. Topped with great sauces/ garnish and tastes so good. The Gua Bao is also amazing, made with seitan (protein) but perfectly cooked, great sauces and topped with spicy red chilli. Great food as always!

You can't go wrong at Beyond Sushi! Firstly, service is excellent- knowledgeable and super friendly staff. Food is delicious. We had the Cauliflower Wings (order both sauces- sooo good), Ginger "beef" Dumplings and the Spicy Mango Roll. So glad we stopped here.

First time coming here and wow! Being vegetarian, I've always seen my friends eat all these cool sushi rolls while I'm stuck with the classic bland cucumber roll - well no more! The rolls here were made beautifully and the flavors were immaculate. The truffle dumplings were probably one of the best dumplings I've ever had. The cauliflower dumplings were a huge portion with a creamy "yogurt" dip on the side - (we got it with the sweet chili sauce, but the waiter said we could've had both the sweet chili sauces and spicy Buffalo, the spicy Buffalo just comes on the side and the chili sauce comped pre-coated so we opted for that option). We also got the mango roll and spicy tuna which were amazing. The waiter was very kind and walked us through the whole menu giving us honest options and popular options. Also added huge bonus- it was so reasonably priced. The whole meal was $44 for 2 people (pre-tip)!

It's pricey but it's good. I don't know if I'd visit again because it doesn't match my particular taste palette, but my friends really enjoyed it and I can respect why. Try it out and decide for yourself! (Get the Gua Bao!!)

WASABI IN MY SUSHI INSTEAD OF AVOCADO!!! I had a big ball of wasabi inside my roll. I don't know if the chef mistaked it for avocado, but it was disgusting. You can see in the picture the other veggies are stuck to it since it was literally in my roll.

Outstanding vegan sushi and rolls. A paradise for vegetarians. We can eat everything on the menu not just avocado rolls. We loved everything we tried and are eager to be back. Cocktails are good as well.

My sister and I had dinner here to accommodate our different diets and really enjoyed it! The food was beautiful to look at and so tasty. We LOVED the spring rolls and I thought the spicy mango roll and dragon roll was delicious. My sister had the spicy "salmon" roll and it tasted just like salmon -- hard to tell that it's all vegan. Also had the lychee lavender martini and it was *chefs kiss* I would def come here again. The romantic ambiance, friendly staff, and quick service also made our experience that much more satisfying :)

I'm sure most reviews don't start off with gratitude for a restaurant being in existence. Welcome to my review. This business checks every box and then a couple not usually on the list. The evening started with my server Hana chatting pleasantly with me about her love for this restaurant and ending up working here because she loved it as a customer. I can identify. I have been here several times (as well as their flagship store) and I love it more each time. The food is beyond outstanding. Service excellent (thank you Hana!) the owner talented, friendly, genuine and extremely dedicated. I'm going to try their restaurant Willow next and then every place they ever open. I'm a fussy customer and I'm sure servers roll their eyes when I place my food orders. I definitely found my tribe here. Beyond sushi is beyond excellent.

Christian provided amazing service hands down! In NY for my boyfriends birthday trip and we're vegan so this was a great place for us. Food was all great as well as friendly and clean atmosphere.

Yes, love this place. As a plant based eater, I am thrilled to find a sushi place dedicated to us. They also have a bunch of other stuff beyond sushi (!). I went with a friend, liked it so much that went back with my carnivorous family for my birthday. They enjoyed it so much that I ordered more for my son's birthday party. My vegan guests so appreciated the food. I love the black rice sweet potato and mushroom sushi. Their bahm mi is tasty too. Overall you won't be sorry you went even if you were a confirmed carnivore like my boy.

If you are in a mood to have some great vegan lunch don't hesitate to visit this place. Staff was polite and they recommended the right things to us. I loved the badge dumplings, they were delicious. I wish I ordered a couple of more things from here. I am indeed revisiting this place soon.

I love Beyond sushi, however this is an acquired taste. Sushi that is purely made out of vegetables can be bland but Beyond sushi has made it delicious with sauces! The dumplings and rolls are excellent!

Loved this place! A great food and atmosphere! Stopped in to have dinner with family this evening. We tried all three flavors of dumplings, Spicy Mang, Mighty Mushroom, Spicy "Tuna" and Zalmon Tartare, Cauliflower Wings, and finished with Ube cashew cheesecake!! Yuummm! We loved everything! Brought my mom here for dinner who has such a hard time finding places to eat out due to her medical history but she was able to eat all of them without upsetting her stomach. I will definitely come back here again to try other dishes. Highly recommended even for non vegan people ( like me )!!

What an excellent experience. First off - Christian the waiter made our experience so pleasant explaining every item with clarity to help us narrow our choices. He had so much patience as my wife went back and forth 8 times trying to decide what to get. Thanks Christian! Food was great, place was reasonably priced. We will be back!!!

This place is great. I had the Spicy Mang, Sweet Tree Roll, Mighty Mushroom, Vegan Tuna, Ube Crunch, and Shiitake Truffle dumplings. The Shiitake Truffle dumplings were phenomenal. All of the rolls were delicious and unique, HOWEVER. I'd say the Ube Crunch is actually not crunchy and out of all of the rolls, Mighty Mushroom is my least favorite and the only one I wouldn't get again. Still, all their rolls are really good and they're value too. Customer service is really good as well. Also, supposedly they have a lunch special running from 11:30 am to 3 pm on weekdays that allow you to get 2 menu items for $15. So I actually might swing by here for a quick meal before doing the rest of my tourist shit. Honestly, this place is so good I think it actually warrants changing my vacation plans just to go here a few more times before leaving. EDIT: Came here again for the lunch special and tried out the Philadelphia roll, Charred Avocado, and Black Sesame Avocado Cookie. The Philadelphia roll was actually a miss-- it reminded me of eating a stick of cheese as a kid. The Charred Avocado was super delicious! The Avocado Cookie was avocado ice cream with black sesame sauce on a banana bread-like brownie. It was absurdly good and I enjoyed every bite.

Super tasty. Has unique dishes that obviously vegan, but filling and nutritious. The restaurant is small but clean and well decorated and the food is presented well. Neither my boyfriend or I are vegan but we enjoyed everything we ordered and left full. The prices are reasonable and likely I'd come back both for food and/or drinks.

I am neither vegan nor vegetarian, but saw the great reviews and was a bit curious about this place, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the spicy mang and the zalmon sushi, and found them both to be quite delicious. If I wasn't aware that everything was veg I probably wouldn't have even been able to tell. I think many meat eaters steer clear of vegan offerings because they're convinced they'll just be flavorless or gross, but Beyond Sushi demonstrates that a meatless restaurant can be just as delicious.

So delicious .... all around outstanding. Our server mamadu ( if that's how you spell it ) from mali that speaks Mandingo was amazing!!! Provided great service and insight on the food selections. Must try the tacos and seitan skewers.

AMAZING SERVICE!! my friend and I met here for dinner tonight and our waiter, Christia, was hilarious, helpful and fast! We had the buffalo cauliflower bites, spicy "salmon" & spicy "tuna", all of which were filing and delicious! The wine was well priced and I highly recommend this spot!

Wow this place is amazing! So many gluten free options I was shocked! We had the spicy mang and mighty mushroom roll and both were so unique and delicious. The wrap was delicious. I was impressed with the food quality, the speed, the presentation, the service and liked the vibe. I hope this place stays forever!

Really good food, it is a place that you pay for the food quality no for the place. Thee food was amazing. The place is kind of small but it is worth. The service is te good but a little be slow because is a small restaurant. But in the end the food is amazing.
