"The best version I’ve had lately comes from Beyti, a restaurant founded in 1981 and named after another wonderful kebab. Located in Union City, New Jersey, up on the cliffs across the Hudson from Hell’s Kitchen, the original owner was Ozcan Arslan, but he sold the restaurant to Ali Riza Dogan, Jonathan Dogan, and Mehmet Akcetin two years ago, who sumptuously redecorated the high-ceilinged room with sky-blue upholstery and Turkish pottery in niches that run around the room. The effect is marred only by big screen TV monitors hung high at the end of the room projecting nerve-soothing landscapes, which makes the place seem a bit like a fancy airport lounge." - Robert Sietsema

Food was great, but the price range? I don't think so. 2 entrees for 2 people was $70. And charging for bottle of water $3.75 when we don't options for tap? It's too much.

I’ve been coming here with my mother since about 2011 and the quality/ portions of the food have gone down while the prices have drastically gone up. Almost $9 for 3 tiny pieces of baklava when all the local stores sell a container of 6 similar sized pieces for $5.99 is too much. It was way too syrupy as well and I’m not very picky with baklava. The food is a bit better but the portions are way too small and still not that good for the price lately. Do better Beyti, you’re losing longtime customers.

OMG! Everything was perfect! The food and service was excellent. Our 1st time there. Fresh to order. The chicken shish is my favorite. Delicious!!! I noticed a service fee on the bill? When I questioned it. I was told it was the tip was added. I left a cash tip at the table. Double dipping. I will not return.

Don’t mind the negative reviews. I am Turkish and food is plenty and very delicious. I will definitely come back. Staff is nice and trying their best. Adana, Beyti, rice are well prepared

Last night was my first time ordering from this location. The food was delicious! I order sautéed mushrooms, sautéed mixed vegetables, and baklava. The sauces in the dishes were so good. The pistachio in the baklava was delicious. I am unsure if baklava is supposed to be a bit messy to eat. I may have found it a bit too syrupy. All in all great flavor. For one person the portions are awesome! I had food for dinner, next day’s lunch and the following day’s lunch! I had to dip my bread in both sauces 😋 I do think the prices are way too high. I would definitely order again and try more of their dishes once in a while though, because of how expensive it is.

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of dining at Beyti for the first time, and it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. From the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the elegant ambiance and attentive service. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations and ensuring a seamless dining experience. the foods is simply amazing. Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The mezze platter was a delightful start, with a variety of fresh, vibrant dishes that set the tone for the evening. The main course, a perfectly cooked beyti kebab, was the highlight of the meal. Juicy, tender, and seasoned to perfection, it showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality and authenticity. Beyti a must visit for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience. I can't wait to return!!

Price: The biggest thing you notice is the prices on the Google menu item are so wrong. It is a lot more expensive and check the picture or the Order Online to see real prices. Food: Great kabobs. Portions are small but it was cooked perfectly. The biggest issue was the dishes were broken, you can see it in the pic. And no free water, they do not serve tap water. Service: not a great service but perhaps acceptable with some standards. Some of the servers do not speak English. Atmosphere: ok , the furniture are tacky and uncomfortable but the tables space and distance are good. The bathrooms smell bad and some do not have paper. Note: a SERVICE CHARGE of 18-20 percent will automatically be added to your bill. Parking is tough to find but perhaps with some distance in other streets around is feasible. Overall will not return there.

Excellent Excellent Excellent! I was very impressed by the variety and superb freshness and taste! The staff is fantastic! I wish the restaurant had parking. BYOB. Try everything, I almost did! We shared all the entrees between the 7 of us, so I tried a lot of different things. I loved everything! Especially the Turkish coffee at the end! I am going back!

Patricia A.

Yelp
The Beyti special Pide was so delicious. The Turkish fruit canned juices were great! Hummus was tasty with the warm bread! The Beyti mixed grill was delicious with a variety of meats. The service was great too MUST TRY! WILL RETURN!

Yelp
I came here for dinner with my brother. The restaurant inside is one big open area with tables, no dividers, no privacy, and it's cold in there so dress warmly. If you're a couple and looking for a romantic restaurant, it is NOT for you. The service was courteous but very disorganized. They forgot some things we ordered and charged us for things we didn't order (of course, not on purpose). Also, parking was a challenge. You have to find parking on the street and it's a busy area. However, the food was delicious. I ordered the sea Mediterranean Sea Bass and my brother ordered the Mixed Grill. The sea bass was a whole fish (with the head) and had lots of bones. I was disappointed with that because I spent half my meal taking the bones out. The portions were generous. If I had to come here again, I would order takeout.

Yelp
Food is ok. Didn't really enjoy it. Very dry and expensive for the quality. Place looks beautiful and the service is good.

Yelp
I used to go to Beyti years ago, but their selection of food was better. THe place is nice, remodeled, redecorated and it looks elegant. Service was great, but I wish they had more selection of food and beverages as well. I went with my dad and he was having a hard time with the orange soda they offered. It was good, food was good, place was clean and nice. I'd like to come back one day. My best friend in Oregon loves Beyti, hopefully we can go and eat some good food :).

Yelp
I've been going to Betyi for over 30 years and im sure there's been different owners but its always maintained an awesome menu and great service. My brother in law who was from Ankara Turkey , at the time he lived nearby betyi and he brought the family there one night and it was then that I loved Betyi . Anytime im in the area I have to stop and spend as much as I can to get to fill my craving . Its sometimes years between visits. Just go to Betyi and see for yourself how good the food and atmosphere is , you'll love it.

Lee S.

Yelp
I have been here several times and always love it. The atmosphere is unbelievably comfortable, thanks to the large space and soft seats. Especially like the couch the most. Sometimes they will bring out this huge puffy bread, I think it depends what you order. What I recommend the most from my visits are the Mediterranean salad (you will get very full on the large), and the kunefe, one of the best desserts ever invented, which is shredded wheat, stuffed with gooey cheese and doused in honey (or syrup?). If you get meat, I recommend a lamb dish since to me lamb is always tastier at just about every Mediterranean restaurant. Just my opinion anyway.

Yelp
Since the beginning of the pandemic , I made it a point to support the small local restaurants in the area . But I will not be ripped off. This place was open but I had to grab a menu from the inside. On the menu , it clearly states 15 percent off dining in . When I pointed this to the waitress , she brushed it off as take out only despite the print saying otherwise. I split one platter , one app(18 dollars for some bread and 6 heaping spoonfuls of babaganoush and hummus) ) 2 sodas, 2 desserts (1 of which was 3 bite size nibbles of store bought baklava) , and 2 thimble size shots of Turkish coffees . Food was typical nothing great. Bill came out to 88.00 . I did the math really quick and figured the total pretax and tip to be 64, which I thought was high to begin with. I pointed this to the waitress and she told me that the pricing for the dine in menu was more than the take out and gratuity was added in the bill and she magnanimously told me I did not need to tip her . Service was for a table of 2 and I was not told before hand that gratuity is added and pricing for dine in was higher. This is usually reserved for large parties and every place I know clearly states this . The waitress did not think of telling us this as we read off the take out menu. And the service ? Besides not acknowledging me at the door in a restaurant with no other diners, she did not check in once to refill our drinks or ask how our food was. So I challenge the owners of this place how they can justify charging gratuity and increased prices without notifying the customer first? Maybe they thought I was a one time tourist who they can scam . No . You messed with a local who thinks nothing of spending 30 dollars a week on shaved ice at Sunshine Ice. You proudly state that you have been in business since 81. Next time I am in a mood for kebab, I will go to Cliffside Park. Update : Submitted to the BBB of both your server not wearing a mask and your dishonest pricing policies . Update . This is my receipt . Note the service charge and higher prices

Sara S.

Yelp
Waiters don't seem to understand English to well. The cacik and baba ganoush lacked flavor. Salad tasted bland. Did even like their bread which lacked flavor. They add "service charge" be aware.

Kaan E.

Yelp
I haven't been to this place for the longest until recently when we decided to go for my best friend's birthday. We paid a fixed price per person (tax and tip included) for live music, main course, mixed appetizer, fruits, and BYOB drinks. The live music was phenomenal and the main course was good too! What I liked about the appetizers was that instead of bringing one per table, everybody got a plate with a mixed variety of appetizers. I would've preferred actual dessert over the fruits, but it is what it is. Definitely would come here again!

Asma A.

Yelp
I really liked this restaurant. But I ordered delivery last night- chicken sautee (19.99$) . The portion size has always been smaller for the price but this used to be good quality food that justified the price. But not now, they sent me burnt pita bread along with food. Have attached a picture. Very bad food. Hope they improve someday. Chicken sautee was decent - 7/10. The portion sixr is really small though.

Yelp
What a terrible place placed order on line went to pick up 1 hour later for a girl with a terrible attitude to tell me that not only did they not start it but they were out of three items. Everybody makes a mistake but what a nasty person I truly hope people read this and don't support this local business there are so many other Turkish restaurants in the area thought i would try again after 4 years and a remodel my mistake

Pallavi S.

Yelp
This place deserve at least 4 or 4.5 star review. Food was good and fresh, place was clean and service was fantastic. Our server was Pablo and made sure to take our order correctly and bring our food hot and crisp. Manager Medina was very nice and offered to help with parking next time if needed. Cleanliness, yummy hot food with good service and a helpful and caring manager, what more do you ask for ? We are vegetarians and ordered Falafel, Shepherd salad, Falafel, cigar rolls, Rice, baby Oakra, Lentil soup , spicy lebneh - Atom !! Everything was delicious , ATOM was phenomenal !!

Austin R.

Yelp
I used to love this place. Then a few years ago they remodeled and it hasn't been the same. Portions are much smaller than they used to be. We used to go in with a group of 3 and order the mixed grill and some sides and all left satisfied. I used to order the mixed grill for take out, eat dinner, have leftovers for another dinner and lunch. Now I can eat the entire thing myself. The freshness also seems down.

Melissa R.

Yelp
Came here Sunday afternoon on a rainy day with a big party and am super impressed! The waiters were very efficient, friendly and helpful-they made sure we had everything we needed and wanted. Very much appreciated. It was empty upon arrival and slowly started to fill up..maybe make a reservation in case-food is well worth it! I ordered the chicken shish: chicken was delicious! Very well seasoned and cooked, rice was good and it also came with a delicious red onion and tomato salad, I enjoyed a lot. Beware the green pepper on the side is as hot as a jalapeño! For appetizers we tried the cigar rolls I believe? Fillo dough with feta cheese filling-yummy! And the dips were yummy as well. The bread they serve upon arrival was ok, it didn't "wow" me. Dessert we got the baklava-delish and something that looked like ramen noodle cake that had cheese, I wish I remembered the name because it was yummy as well, left me wanting to order another! Service and food were great, will definitely be visiting again!

Milena R.

Yelp
Ooo, I'm definitely disappointed with this place, I was excited to try it after my coworkers have been raving about it. I ordered the Okra dish which was pretty decent, and I got a side of steamed vegetables. I opened the steamed vegetables and immediately I noticed a strange rotten scent so I figured there must have been a spoiled veggie in there somewhere...I'm picking through the vegetables and I find a pretty big piece of old meat (so old I couldn't get my fork to go into it) - to have a piece of meat fall into a steamed dish is rather weird but things happen however, to have an old rotten piece is just repulsive.

Maria J.

Yelp
Delicious Lamb! Have been going to Beyti for years.....we love the sheppard's salad, the warm pide bread and you cannot visit without trying the grill lamb chops....delicious! A+++ is BYOB! They also have live music and belly dancing every once in a while. It's always a nice surprise and service is good and pleasant.

Atilay Y.

Yelp
We used to go to beyti while former owner run the place now it's a total amateur level we ordered basic soup salad mix grill lamb chop mix appetizer then desert we were the first table then two other table that was it only thing was good was mercimek corbasi don't waste time or your money here shame serving food like this and making a living at it never kunefe was offered made in house unbelievable was worst kunefe like I said terrible food

Jen H.

Yelp
Great ambiance, server was attentive and the food was delicious. The menu gives you plenty of options to choose from. My favorite part of this restaurant is that you can purchase containers of hummus WITH warm pita, which is more delicious and a better deal than buying overpriced hummus across the street at Acme.

KEMAL B.

Yelp
I think that negative reviews are from the competitors. This place is off the hook!!! Restaurant is very comfortable, it has high ceiling, full of lights and amazing sound system. A hostess welcomed us right after we entered. Servers are very friendly and welcoming. It was out standing they served salads and appetizers to our plates. Taste is not something basic, all dishes have their unique taste. Plates are very good size. We got a dessert called kunefe is delicious. I bet you may love this place.

Ashley G.

Yelp
Yes, I am a fan and mostly because it is close to home. First, the food was great- I cannot recall if it was authentic but it really was great. Plus, I took home leftovers. The decor is beautiful like brand new aqua lights beautiful. If you're interested, the food and decor is gram worthy.

Nazli O.

Yelp
While casually driving past, the new sign immediately caught my eye. What a phenomenal renovation! THis venue is one of the oldest Turkish restaurants in northern new jersey.... and the new management completely re-invented the place. Job well done! The decor is modern, yet has that traditional Turkish touch. The one wall adorned with gorgeous ceramic plates from Kutahya, dimly lit with accent blue lighting. Upon arrival we were greeted and sat immediately. My sister and I were there to break our fast for Ramadan, and one of the staff members Furkan made suggestions on what to order. So glad we listened to him... The Special Beyti Kebab is out of this world! The Gavurdagi salad is also a must try. (Careful if you have any nut allergies) Unfortunately we had zero room for dessert, that'll be for next time. I was informed they have live entertainment on weekends... which was always fun over a decade ago back when I was a die hard Beyti patron. The inner dining room where my friends and I would have our birthday parties and special occasions has also been completely made over. (For the better) The staff is very friendly and attentive, (special shout outs to Furkan and Yasin) and a well recieved warm welcome from the owner himself. An absolute wonderful dining experience from start to finish. I'm thrilled to say Beyti has made a serious come back, and we couldnt be happier! Congratulations, we wish you all the best Bulent Bey. Hayirli ugurlu olsun. Cant wait to come back!

Ruslan S.

Yelp
Really loved decor , also space between tables , they really take care about customers. Food was delicious, I would recommend Iskander kebab and beef kebab.

ali d.

Yelp
They have best halal meat and kebabs. We always go there. Service very good. Gyro homemade very tasty and juicy. Hi recommend. Now also they have grill front of you they cook. Very good . XXXXXX.

Nelson A.

Yelp
Bread was over toasted or stale. The hummus was not smooth but rather thick. Wasn't our best experience dining out compared to prior experiences.

I. S.

Yelp
Great service. Food needs to improve. Beyti is not the same as a couple of years ago and way before that. Place is very clean. Live music every weekend. Call to reserve a table. Music event price includes appetizers, main course, dessert, coffee or tea. BYOB.

Hakan Ç.

Yelp
Great and superquick service... Finger licking delicious taste. Will go back soon, highly recommended

Meemaw M.

Yelp
Feeling lucky to have Beyti in walking distance, especially during this pandemic time. Took out food a few times recently, same friendly staff are working (good sign for any business!) and the food tastes fresh and tasty! Lebne, Babaganus, Tabbouleh and.... Lahmacun!!!! Yum yum. Thank you!!!

Mo M.

Yelp
Turkish gem in the middle of UC. Very stylish interior decor. I had the chicken Shish and donor kebab combination with veggies. The meats were well seasoned and flavorful. Also had the Shepard salad with cheese which was good but I think the amount of cheese was excessive next time I'll get the cheese on the side. Service was solid. Overall great place for a meal.

Akshay R.

Yelp
My sister wanted to try u out this place and glad she did pick this. The food was amazing and the chicken shish was juicy and amazing.

Lili R.

Yelp
I have been in this restaurant several times, The service and servers are okkk, the foods are delicious pretty much I had good times and good experiences there! Try the fresh kunafeh for sure! Super delicious

Betty Y.

Yelp
I love this place foods are delicious!! It became my favorite place so far , I can definitely say that the taste truly reflects real turkish foods . The service was INCREDIBLE ! Our waitress was really knowledgeable and gave us good recommendations we got everything really quick and deliciously! And those were gavurdagi salad, sliced liver, mixed appetizers plate and those yummy TURKISH PIZZA that we had as appetizers after that we had mixed grill and shrimp sautéed it was really good and lastly please do try the dessert is called kunefe Thank you so much for amazing food and service - Hoping to visit very soon !

Stephanie M.

Yelp
This was my first time at Beyti Kebab and as far as my first impression goes it was delicious. As soon as you walk in you already fall in love with the aesthetic of this place. Its nothing like the local restaurants here in Union city, so this place definitely stands out. Around here there aren't many mediterranean restaurants so this is a great addition to our town. I literally stumbled upon this place and already love it. The ambience is great, the service is wonderful , the waitresses are so lovely ! So onto the good stuff FOOD, for starters we got the rolls with cheese in them , I forgot the name but if you're a cheese lover get this ! As an entree I got the special Beyti Kebab. The special sauce was a little too much for me but it took nothing away from the delicious lamb! The lamb was cooked to perfection! Absolutely loved how great the food tasted , I will definitely be back here ! Would I recommended this place ? Yes ! The food is great ! 4 stars only because I felt like everyone (staff) kept staring at me as I ate , not exactly what people like while they are eating, but over all loved this place and will be back !

Mo S.

Yelp
Absolute garbage of a place there was an issue with my families online order and the way the staff called my sister and cursed at her is something I have never seen before. They thought she came and left without paying when I'm telling the manager on the phone I can send him my bank statement but yet they kept calling and cursing and gave my number to other staff members to harass and abuse my family is something that I will never forget

Tulkin N.

Yelp
Awesome place! Food is delicious! Really good service, waitress was polite and brought everything in timely manner. We had party of four so all of us enjoyed the meal and great ambience.

Emmy H.

Yelp
I stopped at Beyti Kebab over the weekend with my family. We had a great meal from the mixed apps ,shepards salad , calfs liver, phylo filled w feta cheese cigars thru entrée of the mixed grill platter and desserts . The service was very attentive and the food was very fresh and plentiful. I highly recommend it if you are in the Union City are.

Veronica A.

Yelp
As a dine-in experience, this place is 3 stars. We came in after the dinner crowd on a Sunday night, there was plenty of staff and not many customers. The glassware was slightly dirty and one of our salads was missing dressing. After asking our server for a new glass of water and dressing, we didn't see our server again until we were finished with our meals. There's no question about the quality of the food; it was very fresh. We ordered lamb, falafel, baba ganoush and the Mediterranean salad. All in all the prices were a little steep to not have excellent service.

Gokhan Y.

Yelp
We were greeted warm at the door by the manager. Our waiter (Yasin was his name I believe) was also friendly , warm and good enough. Portions were big ( huge) presentation was satisfactory and finally value for money was excellent. We ordered 2 orders of kebap combinations , 1 order of Iskender ,1 order of Lahmacun which was the best of all. Adana Kebap was below ordinary where Iskender was okay.

Noinya B.

Yelp
Loved this place, New ownership has really upgraded the dining experience and the quality of the food along with great presentation!!

Shara N.

Yelp
My go to order in! Love the meatball plate -- I love the grilled pepper and tomatoes (they did, however, cut the portion in half)

RICHARD D.

Yelp
WOW!! I've been going there for years and just stopped back to check out the renovation- Re boot I was shocked to find the prices nearly the same but the quality of food totally an upgrade to best in the tristate area. The decor is beautiful- lounge style with interesting lighting custom dishes and Napkins and serving platters. New to the menus is flatbread pizzas and actually awesome bread. The old favorites are still there and the red spicy vegetable appetizer is even better than before. I can't say enough great things about the new Re launch. Really the BEST MIDDLE EASTERN TURKISH FOOD IN THE AREA OR THE THE COUNTY!!!!

Iris A.

Yelp
We went there twice and both times I was stuffed with delicious food) Waitress is very polite and I like that she checks on us every 10-15 minutes to see if we need something else. We ordered mixed meze plate and lahmaçun, which is mini pizza and totally enjoyed our freshly baked puffed bread which comes as a complimentary to appetizers. We also ordered Beyti Mixed Grill which comes with rice and grilled vegetables. The meat is medium which is just what I like and the portions are not huge - this way you can try all the courses of the meal. We also ordered other meals like Shrimp Sauté, Lamb Shank and IsMy friends who never tried Turkish before were delighted! The place is quiet and not so crowded so kids are welcome too)

Manna O.

Yelp
The Ambiance is So beautiful, the Food is Super Yummy and I'd recommend the place to all true middle eastern foodies!!

R P.

Yelp
Wonderful service. Delicious and authentic Turkish cuisine. Just visited on a Sunday with 10 other family members. Appetizers like stuffed grape leaves, calamari. Entrees like the house special kebab and fresh salmon. Really enjoyed it and plan to come back It's a BYOB place so factor that Into your plans!

Wahab G.

Yelp
So I visited Betyti after 4 years. I was pleasantly surprised by the new decor. The place used to be one of my favorite Turkish restaurant. Tonight was a take away, but their bread, kebabs, hummus and sauces, brought my memories back. Finally, they surprised us by giving us a free desert. Thank you so much. Highly recommended for the best Turkish cuisine, west of Hudson.

Hubris N.

Yelp
Rude behavior on the phone. This is a customer business. Even in a no fault situation, there is a way to handle things. There are plenty of Turkish places in the neighborhood. We'll take our business somewhere else. We've been customers for years. Now no longer supporting this business. Other yelpers YMMV.

Abid K.

Yelp
The food here is always good, only thing I don't like is they never have the puffy bread (some days they have and some days they don't). When you ask for bread they give you the typical regular bread, otherwise food is good. Price can be bit cheaper but not bad

Dulce R.

Yelp
Before the renovations the food was great and it's still great now after the renovations as well. The portions are slightly smaller which some people complain about but I'm not complaining. Everything I've had is very flavorful. The place looks great. The staff is friendly. I love it.

J H.

Yelp
Generous portions and excellent food. Quick courteous service. The takeout is wrapped very carefully and they always include a generous loaf of fresh baked bread in there. Try the manti, that's tiny meat dumplings in a yogurt sauce.

Sara S.

Yelp
For God's sake does what you see in the picture look like a large mixed appetizer for $19.95 and the mixed grill for $28.95!???? Not to mention the cheap and effortless small salad for $13.95 that doesn't even have a drop of dressing. That's straight up rip off, this place charges insane prices for very small portions. I'm definitely taking my business somewhere else. There are plenty of good Mediterranean and Turkish restaurants in the area!! When I called the place to complain about my delivery even tho the manager offered a small store credit, but with an attitude. No thank you, I don't want another disappointing experience!! Never again!!!

Julide L.

Yelp
Worst Turkish place in the tri state area. I used to go here all the time. The owners changed. And let me tel you. The owner is ONE PIECE OF SHIT can't stand the guy. Food ... disgusting ! Atmosphere ... uncomfortable Service ... atrocious. Will never go back again.
