12 Top Places for Afternoon Tea in NYC | Eater NY

"Key to note when making reservations at the bright and lively BG Restaurant, which is located at the top of Bergdorf Goodman: Request a window table with the big, plush cocoon “whisper chairs.” These giant, wrap-around baby blue and yellow chairs make an afternoon tea experience all the more decadent and fun, especially when coupled with prime views of Central Park. As for the tea, BG offers one classic three-tier service, so tea selection is the only choice diners need to make. Afternoon tea is offered daily from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for $45 per person." - Kathy YL Chan

Really enjoyed our lunch at BG. Located on 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman, with nice views of Central Park - it’s a great spot. It’s a small restaurant with tightly packed tables, but very nice and upscale ambiance. Mix of shoppers, local business people for lunch, and aunts in for a slow afternoon tea. Loved the salmon and tuna poke appetizer - was delicious - as well as the focaccia bread. Scallops and mushroom ravioli was amazing. Crab cake sandwich was just ok - missing a little something. Very nice staff and service. Reservations ideal but they were accommodating of walk-ins. Highly recommend for a nice lunch.

Had lunch at BG Restaurant to celebrate a special anniversary. We started with the Burrata and Baby Kale Salad, followed by Sea Bass, Chicken Pot Pie, and a Croque Madame for our mains. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the plating was beautiful. Our waiter, Jason, was exceptionally kind and professional. His outstanding service truly elevated the experience.

We had the best experience here! From the very beginning we set up a reservation which they happily coordinated with us as traffic delayed our arrival. The staff was so nice and accommodating! The restaurant was an elevator/escalator ride up to the 7th floor. The covered seats were only for parties of 2 but with a party of 4 we were able to sit by the window with a view of Central Park. We all ordered different teas and had individual kettles which they filled when empty. We ordered two towers and the food was so fun and different!

Google
Shopping at the legendary Bergdorf Goodman’s is an experience par excellence ~ dining at their top floor restaurant is yet another. So cosmopolitan, so chic and so New York in the sense of what Manhattan used to be . I went to school on the UES in the 1970’s Tobè-Coburn and often times wandered as a young student through these historically iconic fashion retail establishments in awe. Well Bergdorf’s hasn’t changed ~ the restaurant is marvelous ~ the staff is superb and the food is delicious. GO!

Loved the classy vibe with a nice view overlooking the Central Park. The food and service were both good. My salmon had an interesting Asian inspired flavor. The place is crowded and the seats against the window felt too close to each other.

We had lunch on the 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman’s and had an amazing experience as always! Our food was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. Our server was very sweet, attentive, and helpful with the menu. We dined here at lunch on a Saturday. Although it was busy, customer service was great and our food came out in a timely manner. The view overlooking the city from our table was incredible. I look forward to dining here again soon!

I had an absolutely wonderful time enjoying lunch with my daughter! The service was top-notch, and the food was simply delicious. It was a delightful opportunity to connect and savor some fantastic flavors together!

Google
Had an afternoon tea on the 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman. We were put to sit in “Whisper seats” which allowed us to overlook the iconic Central Park view. It is a plus in this experience. The afternoon tea set came with 3 tiers, the finger sandwiches and caviar puffs in the bottom tier, 2 warm scones with clotted cream in the middle and sweets on the top. The warm scone was in a dried side so when I smeared the cream on it, it fell into parts. Caviar puff was good and tasty, the sandwiches and sweet were mediocre. I was disappointed with the food choices. BG served the afternoon tea with a high end teapot set which I enjoyed it very much. The colorful drinking glass also made the whole experience fun and pretty.

Yelp
Afternoon tea at BG Restaurant in New York is a delightful escape from the city's hustle--elegant, serene, and undeniably Upper East Side chic. Tucked inside Bergdorf Goodman with views over Central Park, the setting alone is worth the visit: light-filled, beautifully appointed, and just the right mix of refined and cozy. The tea service itself is classic with a few modern touches. The finger sandwiches were fresh and well-composed--standouts were the smoked salmon on dark rye and a delicate cucumber-mint. The scones came warm, served with clotted cream and jam (though I could've used a bit more cream, to be honest). Desserts were dainty and delightful, with the macarons and mini lemon tart stealing the show. Service was courteous and efficient, if slightly brisk at times--understandable given the popularity of the place. The tea selection is solid, if not overly adventurous, but everything we tried was fragrant and well-steeped. Overall, BG offers a refined, quintessential New York afternoon tea. A splurge? Yes. But for the view, the ambiance, and the well-executed spread, it's a worthy one. Would I return? Absolutely--especially for a special occasion or a stylish mid-afternoon treat.

Yelp
Fancy restaurant, lovely decor, enjoyed the afternoon tea, a must visit. I was glad that I was seated by the window with the breathtaking views of Central Park. I also ordered a lobster salad, portions were great and food was amazing. Service was immaculate and staff were on point. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Came to celebrate my bachelorette before the big day with some afternoon tea - first and foremost, the service! So nice and they even gave us a free dessert to congratulate us. Each tier had a selection of sandwiches, scones and desserts with a hot pot of tea. Not the tastiest items - sandwiches could've had been fresher, scones softer but it's more for the vibes as they are immaculate. dishes and teapots are so cute, the view of Central Park is one of a kind.

Yelp
I recently visited my cousin New York and I was recommended to visit the restaurant at Bergdorf Goodman's. I was really intrigued to walk through the beautiful department store and ascending up an elevator. Once you do, you end up in a hallway which in the middle is the entrance of the restaurant. I visited the restaurant by myself and was told that it would be around a 30 minute wait, so I decided to do a little shoppiing as I waited. I bought a opair of shoes and just as I was finished, I was informed that my table was ready. Timing! I started off with a drink that I forget the name of, but it was a gin based drink with grapefruit liquor. The drink was sparking with these little stars that disentigrated within a few minutes. The tasting of the drink was really good and thats coming from someone who doesn't usually drink gin. For an appetizer I ordered the potstickers which were so darn tasty. They came presented in a circular box that presented perfection. The dipping sauce was a tangy soy sauce with a hint of spice. I was trying to savor them, but I ate them really quick. For my entree, I ordered the daily special which was halibut covered in a lemon burr blanc sitting on a bed of fresh vegetables. The taste of the fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. The sauce wasn't overwhelming which allowed you to actually taste the fish. The restaurant isn't your normal spot as I would say I wasn underdressed when I visited. The service was on point as the server knew exactly to ask if I needed anything and brought the items quickly. It is quite pricey, but its an experience I say is worth it. I give my experience a 8.5/10.

Yelp
FIVES STARS! This was an absolute luxury experience from start to finish. The hostesses were cordial and accommodating. The vibe is sleek and classy. We ordered the tea service. So much attention to detail in every single bite. And i can't forget Jeffrey. He made our experience that much more memorable. He was attentive and simply exuded luxury service. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We were inspired by all the great pictures here so we ordered the afternoon tea and it was lovely! Great space, good vistas and yummy eats! Make reservations!!!

Yelp
Took my bestie here for the afternoon tea for her birthday. The variety of tea they offered was not a long list but had about 10 different teas. The selection of sandwiches, sweets and scones were pretty good. Overall favorite was the raisin scone. Sandwiches and sweets were ok. Service was excellent and ambiance was very fancy and comfortable. However, the environment was a bit loud. Would come again and have lunch as the lunch menu looked very delicious.

Yelp
I was very excited to come here for afternoon tea. When I arrived at the correct Bergdorf Goodman building (it's the one across the Apple Store more east), a nice sales associate walked me to the elevator and told me the restaurant where tea was would be on the 7th floor. I came a few minutes early for my reservation but checked in since I had to wait for the rest of my party. The hostess was very nice. When everyone finally came, we checked our coats in and were seated all the way in the back. The entire place was packed - even on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Service was kind of slow throughout the entire time we were there (in terms of how long the tea and food came out). But they were constantly filling up our waters! Everyone got the afternoon tea decided which is $75 a person. I don't think that we got was worth $75. Each person picks one tea and then you share the tray of pastries/sandwiches/scones with the person across from you. I had a nut allergy so I got my own mini tray. Someone else had a gluten allergy so she got to choose a salad from the menu. I did really enjoy the scone I had and the lemon meringue bites. You're paying for the experience. I personally prefer Alice's Tea House for a less stuffy experience. I am happy that I was able to experience tea here but I felt like the clientele was diverse (I did see other minorities) but there were some people that made me feel some type of way. My friends and I did linger and we were never rushed! All in all, service was fine and I'm happy I got to experience this once but I wouldn't go back.

Yelp
After shopping the floors of Bergdorf, we decided to partake in BG's high tea and what a disappointment it was. Despite it being $100/person you're only allowed one tea, and you don't even get your own tea stand. The finger sandwiches were subpar, as were the desserts. We left hungry and annoyed. Stick to the regular food menu.
google avatar

Stephanie Q.

Yelp
We made a reservation for high tea. While we were waiting for our table to be ready, this lady projectile vomits in the middle of the restaurant. It is by no means the restaurant's fault but we were so disgusted that it killed our appetite. If this was some all you can drink spot, I would not be as shocked but in a place like Bergdorfs, this is u expected. The vomit almost touches my coat, luckily it did not get on me. The food was delicious especially the scones. Our waiter was very accommodating, someone in our party had food allergies and he made sure to separate her food and replaced some items with others. Overall it was a lovely expensive minus the vomiting!

Yelp
Food was surprisingly great!! We had high tea, lobster napoleon, brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The tea was amazing but the scones/desserts that came with it were ok, not really worth the $75. As for the rest of the food, everything was delicious, and I will definitely be back to try other dishes! Love the vibes and great service

Yelp
Honestly I'd give this place a 4.5 if I could but opted to round down just to not be misleading for a perfect score. So it should go without saying if you're going to eat at a restaurant inside of Bergdorf Goodman you should expect some prices to be on the higher end. So really you're looking at probably easily dropping 100$ between two people. So I'm not going to deduct any points when it comes to cost as I feel the place pretty much tells you exactly what kind of place and prices you're going to see lol. So with that - the decor here is super cute! Very clean and chic and just has a girl gone shopping and now is lunching kind of look! This place is known for their afternoon tea but alas did not get it since I went with a friend of mine who wasn't interested in it and i didn't want to afternoon tea by myself - but that's on me lol. But the food we did get was great and the service was excellent! The waiter was super attentive and helpful. My lobster Mac was sooo good. My friend got the chicken pot pie - with the only complaint being that she thought is was a little flavorless (hence the .5 deduction) I had also booked the seating in advance - which I highly suggest as the space is small and can get filled up quick. Obviously not all the seats get to sit next to the windows overlooking the park and I had made a note in my res that it was a social occasion and if we could be seated near the windows and they accommodated! So I would def want to revisit since I had a great experience and want to try out that afternoon tea!
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
Caviar puffs and shrimp cocktail were delicious. It was just cramped. It was a last minute lunch decision and that's exactly what the dining experience felt like. It was uncomfortable having people who were on the waitlist ogle my food as it arrived.

Yelp
What a lovely tea time! We were supposed to go see Sweeney Todd for our 20yr anniversary, but just as we were getting to our lunch reservation at Hoseki, the show emailed us to say the leads would both be out that afternoon. So instead of seeing the show, we decided to just do some fun things in midtown that we've been interested in. After walking around & doing some shopping, we wanted a snack. Tea at the Plaza sounded fun because it was Wicked themed! But they were fully booked. So we went across the street to Bergdorfs and they sat us immediately! Not only did we immediately sit, they gave us one of the best tables in the place! With an amazing server to boot! We enjoyed all the delicious canapés & sandwiches along with very tasty tea. A truffle chicken salad sandwich was a highlight for me. When we told our server it was our 20yr anniversary, he brought us some complimentary champagne. It was such a sweet gesture! I will definitely be coming here whenever I'm I need of a relaxing & delicious break.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to this Tea! My friends and I were seated at a stunning table overlooking the park. The restaurant is beautifully and thoughtfully planned, but has a LOT of seating. Thankfully we weren't placed in the center because you are sitting close to others and can't really see the park. The best part of the experience was the view. I know this is bizarre and could've been an off day - but when we got off the elevator, it smelled very strongly of fish. It took about 20 minutes for our order to be taken, and we got the regular tea service. The actual tea was delicious, but we were underwhelmed by the flavors of the sandwiches/desserts/scone. Nothing in the tea service stood out as delicious. I have also never been to a tea where they didn't offer you more food (which is fine, just an observation). We were offered more hot water once and that was the only time anyone ever checked on us. When I spend about $100 on an experience, I expected more.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for afternoon teas so I had to try this restaurant. The description says it overlook views of Central Park but the windows are only on one side of the wall and if you're not lucky enough to get a seat there you don't get any view. The restaurant isn't big but it's cute. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite crowded. Note: Try for a table in the back as it's less noisy back there for some reason. The offerings for the afternoon tea is the usual.....finger sandwiches, devil eggs, scones, petite fours, etc so nothing new to report there. Overall the food was good - the scones could have been a little warmer and softer compared to other afternoon teas I've been to, but the service is exceptional! It gets crowded so make sure you make a reservation!

Yelp
I did not plan on eating here.. we were by the lounge and decided to ask the hostess if my husband and I could sit at the bar for drinks. I am SO GLAD we came here. We had a great time with Jason, our bartender. He was funny and gave great recommendations. My husband order two old fashions, and I had a holiday drink - both delicious. We ordered the duck dumplings (recommended by Jason) and the hummus plate. Finally, we ordered the sticky toffee cake (also, recommended by Jason). Everything was delicious. The restaurant is beautiful. The walls are art deco themed. The wall lamps were brass mermaids. Pretty neat. You get a beautiful view of Central Park and fifth ave. The staff is nice and proactive. They did not keep people waiting and were constantly moving tables without anyone feeling rushed. We had a great dining experience. I definitely recommend this place. I am glad we stubbled upon it.

Yelp
I came here yesterday for lunch because they close at 7:00 so there is no dinner. I was informed they close later during the holiday season. I made the reservation for 5:30 and was there early. They seated me when I arrived and did not make me wait for my friend. The place is nice and you do have a view overseeing Central Park. I would say their decor is beautiful; those water glasses are colorful and playful. The seating is comfortable just a bit low for me. As I waited for my friend I ordered a passion spritz which was so delicious. Then we ordered the tea time and that was good. Our waitress Jessica was very nice and would check on us frequently. I chose the roobious tea and she refilled it so we had two pots of tea each; along with one glass of champagne and the tea pastries. I thought I would be hungry but it was very filling. The sandwiches were egg; ham and cheese and chicken salad. One of the sandwiches had stale bread; besides that the sandwich options were fine. The lox sandwich was very good and fresh. The caviar puff was good as well. Then I had the scone which was delicious and my favorite item from the tea time. I have never had such a delicious scone; I wonder if they sell it alone; of if you have to buy the tea time. The marmalades which came with the scone were also delicious. The deviled egg was also good and it had the right balance of flavors. I had the chocolate pastry and that was good and I had the lemon tart. Overall I think this was really nice experience and I do recommend it. My only complaint is the stale bread on one of the sandwiches which is why I took off one star. Besides that I would be back for their dinner.

Judy L.

Yelp
I've been to BG several times for lunch and every time the food and service were superb. It's an upscale place with prices to match, but it's a great dining experience. Among my favorites are their deviled eggs, duck dumplings, lobster mac and cheese, tuna and salmon poké, and their jumbo lump crabcake salad which is absolutely to die for. Alas, they discontinued my favorite dessert which was pumpkin crème brûlée, but their tiramisu is very good. The place is jam-packed for lunch, so reservations are strongly recommended.

Yelp
April 1st 2024 Celebrating my Birthday.....................,, ....... Here What a lovely place.................................................. Definitely .............. ..... Recommend......

Allie H.

Yelp
The absolute WORST afternoon tea I have ever had. The sandwiches were stale and the bread was getting hard. You get two tiny scones and the pastries were smaller than bite size. We paid $150 plus tip for, no joke, $25 worth of food. The pasties looked like they came premade from Costco, and we got a deviled egg and a cucumber on the plate. If you're considering afternoon tea here.....DON'T!!! You may as well just get lunch somewhere. I got better NYC pizza a block away. A whole pizza for $25. Save your money
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for afternoon tea. Heads up that if you make a reservation, you won't be seated until the whole party arrives !! One of our friends was late and the hosts were thankfully flexible about letting us get a table later in the day. The restaurant is cute and our waiter was very helpful when giving tea recommendations. The finger foods that came with tea were surprisingly filling. It was a fun experience and the food + tea were good but I don't think it was worth $100 per person. Glad I tried it once.
google avatar

Kathy T.

Yelp
Came here for a large family high tea. No way to seat 26 people together or to make reservations for a large group so a whole bunch of us had to make separate Open Table reservations. It worked, but we didn't get to sit together. Overall, it's a great location and very beautiful room. The actual food for the tea wasn't as amazing as I hoped. And had to ask for more clotted cream a bunch of times. Because it's a family tradition, definitely worth doing, especially in memory of my Oxford educated father, but there's probably better actual afternoon tea other places.
google avatar

Madison F.

Yelp
It was a great experience for the price and in a great location. Overall the service was lacking and the noise level was insane. I asked for a new pot of tea since the one I had was bitter since it had over steeped. The waiter brought the new teapot but didn't take away the cup full of tea so I couldn't pour myself another cup and ended up spilling all over the table which no one noticed nor took care of. If we're experiencing an elevated service, the service needs to be better. Also stopping by the windows on the way to our table to see the central park views would have been nice too.

Yelp
Good food and excellent service. Loved the tea selection. Our server Daniel was amazing. Incredible service. He was kind, friendly, and thoughtful. This place reminded me of Paris!

Yelp
Great spot for afternoon tea! It's been years since we've been to Bergdorf Goodman and I had forgotten how huge it is. BG Restaurant is on the top floor with fantastic views of the city. The decor had an old NY feel, which I loved. The afternoon tea was $60pp. It included a tea of your choice and a set menu of mini sweets and finger sandwiches. I didn't finish everything, it was surprisingly filling! My husband ordered the seafood gnocchi ($45) which was amazing. The restaurant is not very big (and they were completely full) so it was a bit loud. Service was fantastic and while pricey, I thought it was worth the experience and the food was excellent. Reservations are highly recommended.
google avatar

Yelp
BG Restaurant is one of my favorite places to go for an afternoon tea with a view. It's located on the 7F of the Bergdorf Goodman - a great place to get a sip during my shopping breaks! During the weekends it gets quite packed but you can always put your name down and come back when the tables are available. I'd also recommend to always ask for a window seat for the stunning Central Park view. It has a great view of the southern Central Park and the Plaza Hotel, so if you have guests visiting from out of town, it's also a nice place to take them. I've tried both their dinner and afternoon tea, and most of the food I tried are pretty good, although a little overpriced. Their desserts are amazing and my favorite savory option goes to their deviled eggs and duck dumplings! I was just there a few days ago, and it seems they now work with Aubi & Ramsa on the ice cream options. Would love to come back again and give it a try!

Yelp
On a Friday mid-December we needed a cocktail and nosh after shopping. There was a line to get in. We did not have a reservation and only wanted a cocktail and an appetizer. The line moved fast remarkably. My friend got the organic chicken salad amd loved it! She said, "It was that good!" And added that it was light, refreshing, and perfectly dressed. I had the salmon and poke bowl. Oh wow. Perfect and light. I would get that again. Highly recommend!

Yelp
BG Restaurant at Bergdorf Goodman is a true New York City treasure. I have missed it greatly since I moved to Las Vegas. In August 2024, when I came back to visit, I was delighted to see Adham Kandalaft back at BG. Adham made me and my Vegas friends feel truly welcome, sitting us down and giving us terrific recommendations. My friends were impressed with the professional service, the quality of the food and the beautifully decorated interiors. Adham introduced us to our terrific server, Maya, who warmly and efficiently gave us our food and cleared the way for our desserts. I am glad to see that BG restaurant maintained its aura post-pandemic as an oasis in Manhattan.

Yelp
My friend and I had a lovely experience for afternoon tea here over the weekend. We made a reservation and were able to sit by the window, with a view of Central Park. Since the restaurant is on the top floor of the store, you get a nice view. The afternoon tea is a decent portion size, and we did not quite finish everything. It is a good mix of sweet and savory, and we enjoyed our pots of tea as well (earl grey and mint.) We got seated right away, and our server was friendly and did not rush us. If you are looking for a festive, classy experience overlooking Central Park, this is a good spot! Just be sure to make a reservation in advance!

Yelp
BG Restaurant is a TRUE New York City GEM. I was thrilled to see Adham back, as he has always made my friends and I feel very welcome and appreciated. Adham also gives us terrific advice about the menu and things to do in New York City After retiring to Las Vegas, I took four of my Nevada friends and one New York friend to BG restaurant on August 9, 2024. My friends and I were amazed by the beauty of the restaurant, the delicious food, and, most importantly, the terrific hospitality. Our lovely waitress, Maya, was very attentive to our table despite how busy the restaurant was. I look forward to seeing Adham and Maya at BG during my next NYC trip. It makes me miss when I worked in New York City and came several times a year!

Yelp
Best lunch in New York City. Had an amazing time. The food and drinks were exceptional. Service is top-tier. I highly recommend however, it is pricey.

Yelp
We had fabulous food, drinks and service at this beautiful restaurant! Corina was very friendly and sweet. She took great care of us and provided good recommendations on the menu. We enjoyed the lobster napoleon, Gotham salad, Croque Madame, swordfish special, Smokey Berry cocktail with Mezcal and for dessert, the signature BG Cake and Gingerbread Creme Brûlée. Everything was delicious and it was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. We look forward to going back!

Yelp
A birthday tradition! I created this adorable tradition several years ago of visiting different restaurants for tea service on my birthday; this year I selected the BG Restaurant. The service and ambience was impeccable. The selection was typical for tea service (scones and finger sandwiches). The price tag, $100 (including tax/tip).
google avatar

Phoebe S.

Yelp
We arrived well before our reservation since we were nervous about being late with New Years closures, but they sat us almost immediately which was really nice of them! The service was excellent. Everything was very quick and everyone was very nice. The food was mostly great (LOVED the scones, and the desserts were pretty good) but the sandwiches were a bit on the dry / under-filled side (only reason I took off a star.)

Yelp
Afternoon tea at Bergdorf. It's old school and very charming. The room is quaint and it's traditional tea service with a delicious selection of freshly made scones and delicious finger sandwiches. It's not as elite as it used to be and serves a rather diverse crowd of the rich and posh with a mix of people who are there fir the thrill of tea at Bergdorf. Service was a tad disappointing and we waited longer than we should have especially considering how light the crowd was. But it was delightful and the wonderful and we'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I was looking for a place for afternoon tea, and found BG Restaurant on a Travel and Leisure list of the 10 best places for afternoon tea is NYC. I was able to easily make a reservation online through OpenTable. Afternoon tea is served daily from 11:30 am to 5 pm. I was fairly underwhelmed by the service. When I arrived, no one was at reception, and while many servers walked by no one greeted me. It took about 5 minutes before someone returned and found my reservation. My server behaved much the same way once I was seated. He didn't check in much and was hard to track down for the check. Afternoon tea with a glass of champagne is $100. It comes with a few mini sandwiches, a scone, and a few desserts. While I was asked if I had any allergies, I was never provided with a menu or told when the food arrived what was in each item. Some were more obvious than others, but presentation wise, it would have been nice to have a menu to refer back to with the list of items and/or being told at some point which sandwiches were which. The food quality was good. The overall experience was lacking.

Ambiance had me upon exiting the elevator. So fresh and clean, which was surprising for how absolutely busy they were. Not a bad seat overlooking 5th Avenue. Tables were tight but it didn't matter. Everyone navigated precisely. Of course I could not temper the waiters name but he was perfect from start to finish. Honestly the best service we received during our 4 day trip. If you are looking for a fancy brunch or lunch I would recommend this ten times over!

Yelp
If you want to have afternoon high tea then you are looking at the correct place! But please make a reservation in advance otherwise you may be rejected for a walk in as it has limited space and is VERY popular for afternoon high tea. You get wonderful views mostly from any seat in the house of Central Park, and the decor is exactly what you'd want for such a bougey place. Service is usually on point even though sometimes they do have their off days but I don't experience the off days that often when I go. My absolutely go to spot though for afternoon high tea, for locals and out of state people alike!

Yelp
Loved the ambience and the service (5 stars), but the food was lacking. The pulled chicken salad had no flavor and the pot pie was watery and undercooked. I have been to the restaurant a number of times and always had good food, but today's lunch was not good.

Yelp
Beautiful and elegant. It got very busy the day I was here. I called the day before and was able to get an 11:30am reservation. Our waiter was lovely and helped our table choose the food we ordered. The restaurant is decorated in high tea style. I do wish there had a better selection of breakfast items on the menu. No pancakes, crepes or French toast. I ended up getting lobster bisque and a crab cake. Both were delicious but. It really "breakfast" food. I also ordered a mocktail. The price point didn't seem too high and I really enjoyed my time. I could have dinned longer but when I saw the line they were getting for people waiting to sit and eat my friend and I decided to get up, pay our bill and leave so someone else could enjoy the table. I hope to return soon.

Yelp
Definately didn't meet the expectation. Should have just ordered lunch. We had afternoon tea setting for three of us...Sandwich bread was borderline hard due to premade...not sure how long they were made/prepped prior to but definitely not fresh. Other sweets were average. Not worth the money. I guess paying so much and with it being BG, had high expectation and was below average. Had better sandwich at the Gas station. Had much better afternoon tea servings at oversees hotels at less then 1/2 the cost. Dining Area was pretty small and was very loud. Not a relaxing afternoon tea setting at all. Service was very attentive and great so 2 starts.

Yelp
All I can say is outstanding! The food was absolutely amazing and the tea service looked incredible at the next table. I'm definitely going back for tea. From the moment we were greeted by the host to the quality of service, food and decor we were wow'd at every moment. Beautiful dining room, comfortable seating you absolutely forget that you're in one of NY City's premier department stores. Do not miss the opportunity to have lunch or tea at BG.

Yelp
Not worth it! Food is below average! You're better off going to a nice bakery/coffee shop and save at least half your money and have much better tea, sandwiches, cakes etc. I get you're charging for the brand/experience but the food needs to be at par!

Yelp
Came here for afternoon tea on a weekday, had reservations. Great view of Central Park if you are seated next to the windows. Took awhile to get service but our waitress was great. Expected more attentiveness overall though.

Yelp
I typically look at Service & Food as equally important when I write reviews and this is probably by 5th time at BG and every time the service gets worse and worse. I'm probably not going to go back unless I'm extremely hungry and there is a walk in available. They didn't want to seat us when 2/3 party was present after making a reservation. There should be already table for us so what's the hold up? The older host lady was very not welcoming and had an attitude. From the moment we entered and by the time we were being seated we started the lunch with a bit of frustration. The food was great- probably a bit more overpriced for what it is but still taste was good. It was about $230 bill and even during dining the service wasn't too great. So we tipped 15% and one of the guys that was in a suit questioned why I'm not tipping "enough" because I should tip at minimum 20%. So I responded, saids who? I was not very happy with the service and this is what I think is appropriate. Never again- I would give two stars but I think one star will do!

Yelp
This is a special restaurant, in a special store with unparalleled history. Patrons should not take that for granted. The 7th floor of Bergdorf's is a marvel in and of itself. And the patronage of the store is captured in photos and letters in the hallway outside of BG....stop to take a look.... Ive dined here dozens of times. It's an incredibly beautiful setting. Perfect for a ladies' lunch; the actual epitome of perfection in that regard. The food is not my favorite (I prefer Palette's food menu (which is the restaurant in the basement on the cosmetics floor)). I've had good meals at BG there and bad, but the cocktails and wine are always as expected. I love the new mocktails (especially the Golden Pina, which can be spiked) and the desserts are lovely. Book the reservation to celebrate, have a special time with people you love or for a Tuesday. I should add that almost half of my times here have been dining alone and as a single female in my 30s from the South, I feel as comfortable at BG as anywhere I've ever been.

Yelp
BG is located at the 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman building and overlooks Central Park looking towards the North We went for Sunday afternoon tea and had a 3pm seating for 4 people We arrived a minute or two early and they promptly greeted us and took us to our table. We were fortunate to have a window table on a fall weekend when the nyc marathon was going on Wonderful service from white jacketed professionals for the entire event. They served the tea and champagne very quickly followed by the towers of sandwiches and sweets I highly recommend!
