BG's Café if you are a native to Oxnard, you definitely know this mom and Papa's joint. I've been coming here for decades. Love the nostalgic place, fantastic quality, and better tasting eats. Can't go wrong in this place. I highly recommend it. Like always, my sister's and brother's make you food soul happy and enjoy. God bless

I love this place! I come every weekend for breakfast, and if it's on their "specials" menu, I always get the same thing--Pork Chop and eggs. It's soooo good! Angela and the rest of the staff knows what I want as soon as I walk in. They're all very attentive and your coffee is never empty. It's nice and cozy and the food is delicious. That said, it can get crowded on weekends so be patient!

Staff is the best! In my book, there are only one or 2 eateries that I rate highly. Usually our group can range from 4-8 people. Great selection on menu as well.

I've gone to BG's Cafe 2 weeks in a row on my day off. It has a great atmosphere, excellent service, and awesome food. The first time I went I got the tri-tip and eggs, hash browns, and a side of biscuits and gravy. It came to the table fast and everything was delicious. This week I got the country fried steak and eggs, with the same biscuits and gravy. This is gonna be my day off breakfast spot. I don't know my waitresses name but, she was great too. Thanks for a delicious breakfast!!!! Another great breakfast at BG's had the sausage and eggs and of course my biscuits and gravy

A local cafe, cozy. This is the first time to see a cactus omelette in menus, so why not? I like it with their homemade spicy salsa. The biscuit is just baked, fluffy!! The waitress often visits to check on us, which is very nice :) Oh, one more positive thing is that they open at 6:30am, which is rare for our town. We love it as early birds.

Busy place on a weekday morning, so I knew it had to be good. An old cafe that seems like locals should have a reserved coffee cup hanging on the wall awaiting their return. Ordered bisquits and gravy, sausage, two over easy eggs and a side of bacon. Did not disappoint on the food other than did not receive a full serving of gravy for my biscuits. Waited for my food order for 45 minutes after ordering but food was perfect.

A hidden gem! In the heart of old town/downtown Oxnard, parking is a little challenging on the street but there might be more in back? This is an incredible breakfast spot! But their menu is huge! And not just breakfast! My husband stumbled upon BG's a few weeks ago and just loved it! So... with great pride he took me here for breakfast and it was so good! The service was great, we were offered drinks right away (sadly they were out of orange juice) and after our drinks were brought out we sat for quite a while before anyone came to take our order. My husband had to actually make a point to say "we're ready". Honestly throughout our meal our server was very friendly and attentive. My reason for 4 stars and not 5 wasn't because of that but rather what they charged us for our 12 oz iced teas at $4 each. Way overpriced! BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse only charges $2.79. I also think $6 for a side of 2 fried eggs is a bit over the top. Just saying... I absolutely plan to come back and definitely recommend giving them a try!

My husband and I love this place and have been going there for breakfast for years. It has the old diner kind of feelings and the staff has remained the same for year too. The food is consistently delicious. The owner, Jose, takes pride in helping the staff and also welcoming his customers, so we feel like family going there. Angie, our waitress, has our breakfast ordered memorized, and even now that we moved away and only go there when we are in town, still remembers. I always have the egg white veggie omelette, with sautéed spinach, onions, mushrooms and fresh jalapeños, perfectly seasoned. Inhaven't found a better omelette since we moved. We highly recommend going in and try it for yourselves.

We didn't want a big breakfast due to an event we would be attending. I love oatmeal and so that's what I ordered. It was creamy and delicious! The locals seem to love this place and I can see why. Staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant looks like a hole in the wall but it's not, very deceiving. It can accommodate a good amount of customers

I can't believe that in all the time I've been coming to Oxnard for work, I've never stopped by BG's cafe. This is your quintessential local's diner. Classic breakfast and lunch offerings among other things. However they cater to the locals, lots of mexican breakfast options, and you can choose tortilla as side instead of your typical toast options. Today was a breakfast kind of day. Bacon, eggs and coffee. Not pictured was a side of salsa they brought me that really kicked the whole meal up a notch. For a Monday this place was packed, but I didn't wait long for a table. The service is great, everyone was very attentive and food came out hot and fast. ! The inside is cozy. The walls decorated with old photos of the city and surrounding areas, random knick knacks sit on shelves as if you're in someone's grandma's house. One thing that made me exceptionally happy is that there is lots of booth seating. Even the tables in the middle of the room have booth seats. Classic and no fuss. This place has definitely made it to my list for go to diners next time I'm in this area.

Stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We liked that they had a table outside because we had one of our pets with us. Took a minute to get somebody out to the outdoor table to serve us but once they recognize we were there they took care of us. The food was delicious. Great spot in downtown Oxnard for a weekend breakfast.

One of the must try if you're ever in downtown Oxnard. This restaurant has been around so long, you can see cool historical artifacts and photos here. Food is always flavorful, never need to add much to your plate. They have a variety in the menu and look for their specials as it's not on the menu. Service is friendly. There's plenty parking in the back if you have trouble finding a slot in the front.

The people working here are very nice and helpful, they have a very large menu, I got the hot pastrami sandwich and man was that a good choice. Healthy amount of meat, very tasty sandwich and the fries were nice and crispy. Check it out if ever in the area.

I've come to BGs and had delicious food before but this last time was lackluster. I hate giving bad reviews but this is just for the dish and not the restaurant itself. Waitress was nice and attentive. Cafe was bustling for a Sunday morning. Just this pozole was no bueno. The broth was very thick. My mom complained that her chile verde was not servers HOT, just warm. Hoping next time will be better!

So I woke up in need of some Sunday morning nourishment! I went to my downtown Oxnard old reliable and once again BG's cafe didn't disappoint! I wanted something savory, somewhat healthy and that I wouldn't feel self conscious about later in the day! So I ordered the Nopalito Scramble with perfectly seasoned O'Brien's potatoes (totally worth the extra apostrophe). The egg to veggie to nopales ratio was on point and I even ordered an extra flour tortilla as the portion was more than I thought I could pack into two palm sized glorious breakfast tacos! The grilled Jalapeño was the perfect compliment and of course the never ending hot coffee fresh off the pot fill-ups were on the spot! Overall, I enjoyed it very much! You can tell by the ambiance that this is a great escape from the usual taquerias and chain restaurants in the area! Like a breath of fresh air-- BG's came through to solve my ever growing search for something different in Oxnard! Service was friendly, on point and I appreciated them coming by to check on me multiple times throughout my breakfast even though the place was packed and busy AF!

This place doesn't disappoint me every chance I come here. It has that typical Mom n Pop local cafe settings. I come here for omelets, biscuits and gravy. Their price has gotten higher but what hasn't. Today, I had Chorizo omelet with country fried potatoes, biscuit and a side of gravy. I also had a decaffeinated coffee. The whole meal including the tax is $25.00. Their portion is big so I can only eat almost half of the servings. Their food tasted like they are home cooked. The biscuit is bready which I like and the gravy is not overpowering. They make their own chorizo. Presentation is good. Until my next visit but this place is highly recommended.

What a cute little gem in downtown Oxnard! Everyone was so friendly and I loved the homey feel of the restaurant. There was a good variety of kids' options, which is a plus as my toddler is especially picky, but he loved everything he ate. Shout out to their country Benedict - heavy but beyond delicious.

First time here I was impressed w the food, a little bummed they didn't offer mimosas but everything else felt like I was in someone's home kitchen, the waiter lagged with my coffee even tho we asked him about 3-4 times, we eventually just got up and served our own coffee, overall Goode experience tho god I finally got to try it and we will be back

We went to this place to get some sandwiches, they took our order right away. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. OMG!! They were so delicious and had so much flavor. I was able to take a photo of my sandwich but I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the Philly sandwich because my husband just devoured it. lol it was that good!

My family and I have been eating at BG's Cafe for years especially after our kids' soccer games. Friendly service and the owners are very attentive. Our kids opt for their pancakes and chorizo and eggs. We highly recommend this place as its a gem in downtown Oxnard.

I absolutely love the small town feel in the busy hub of downtown Oxnard that BG coffee shop brings. Walk in from A street and you feel the nostalgia of classic coffee shops with groups of retirees gathered about having coffee and sharing a laugh. Walk out the rear and you welcome the hustle and bustle of the train depot and all around it. The menu classic options to make everyone satisfied. Although options may look standard, the execution and flavors were on point. The chicken chilaquiles with green sauce has to be the best I've ever eaten! Ask for a side of the salsa on top to add more flavor! The biscuits were light and fluffy fresh made in house and it carried so well. The gravy was standard but add a little more pepper and hot sauce and bam welcome to flavor town! A great little start to the morning.

Our favorite Breakfast spot ! My husband and I never leave disappointed! We like to try out new plates and today my husband tried the super Reuben sandwich and he loved it ! Food: Great quality, fair pricing. Everything from breakfast to lunch items are delicious and high quality. Your coffee cup will never go empty here! The staff are very patient and it has a very homely vibe to it! Ambiance: Old-school, laid back vibe. Great mom and pop restaurant, check it out!

Discovered this place on the back of a fundraiser discount card and this gem had the Best eggs Benedict I've had in a while!!

The breakfast burritos from here are some of the best in the area. They pack them full of meat, or my favorite, the avocado breakfast burrito. You also get a breakfast side with your order, some sour cream and salsa. The salsa is really good, but I would love a fresher pico option. Overall for the value, this food is amazing! I definitely recommend and will get again.

This place is right across from a new sushi spot. Service was fast and friendly. The portions were big and prices are great. I was however disappointed by the quality of the food. I ordered the apple French toast. Nothing out of the ordinary. Apples would have been better if they were caramelized on the spot and not pre cooked. My friend ordered pancakes and eggs with bacon. She said it was ok. Their coffee was also bitter and distasteful.

This is the spot for breakfast. We were seated promptly and our coffee came right a way. The portions are generous. So, when in Oxnard don't forget to put this place on your list. Don't forget to order the cinnamon roll.

Extremely busy so please have patience. Everyone was really nice and our waitress was so busy that another waitress helped out and took our order. Food was cooked to perfection (I'm extremely petty). Definitely must have the biscuits and especially the cinnamon roll! MUST HAVE!!! Definitely going back whenever in Oxnard.

Traveling North from LA and Yelp'd "Breakfast". Nav took us an ass backwards way in but, now that we're here, it's just what we wanted. Pancakes for Sofia, biscuits n gravy for Mike, and steak n eggs for me . Oh, and you can get a side of Chiliquilles. The coffee is just, meh, but this is looking like the right choice for breakfast. Hopefully the nav will get us back to the freeway more directly than it got us here. So, posy meal take away;

Came in to eat some lunch. Sat right away, waiter was super fast and the host. I liked the food, the tomatoe soup and the salad. It was really great and fresh. Was not expensive nice little Cafe. I want to visit and come here again

We called in the order and NOT one item was missing, everything was exactly as specified - got extra everything , utensils they didn't just say "yea, its in there" and it wasn't (Cafe Amri - every time NEVER gets anything correct) All these other places need to take a lesson from BG's Coffee Shop. Their customer service was very warm and respectful, too. I wish we could have stay in to eat there- I love that atmosphere- Makes me feel like im a kid at home again, -back in the day- Oxnard. I am just sorry I didn't get the waitress' name that helped me, she is amazing- although everyone asked if Id been helped when i was there a very short time waiting. 10 STARS, BG's!!!

I have been here three times during my trips to Oxnard. It is a place we really like having breakfast in because of the friendly staff, unique breakfast choices and overall genuine feel. Most recently I had the chorizo with potatoes and eggs. They were seasoned so well and I actually finished the plate. My table also had their regular green chilaquiles and nopale omelet. We were all satisfied and "barriga llena, corazon contento." I want to give this breakfast favorite a 5, but sometimes they do forget certain items. In the end I will still keeping coming back.

This place has one of the best breakfast burritos ...an that was the bacon breakfast real good add that jalapeño grilled on side with a salsa an u can't go wrong !! Good friendly service an it was packed an still took care of my order thank u ..I'll be back

I brought my family here for the first time. The Downtowners omelette had lots of flavorful steak. The Apple Pancakes were heavenly, not to sweet and no syrup needed. The mushroom Burger was huge and the prices are fair.

We came back to try something new on the menu. It didn't disappoint yet again! We waited maybe 10 minutes if that but it was worth it. I had the strawberry French toast, the batter had a hint of orange. It was absolutely delicious! My husband had the breakfast croissant with hash browns and the meal was delicious, as well. The ambiance is always great with the most wonderful service you can get!

If i could give them a zero. I would. I came in here to get a grub hub order, and they told time it would be 15 minutes. I sat here and waiting asked twice on the order. They kept telling me it was being worked on. After sitting here 45 minutes, they come and tell me that the order was sitting up there they never marked it to go. And they now have to remake it. Another 15-20 min.... I still had to wait almost 30 more minutes for this order. Staff didn't seem to care that they messed up. Super unorganized and rude. People who came and ordered to go got their stuff before me. I know the food was not for me but i rely on their time and efficient to do my job. There was a staff member who came to order food on her day off and from start to order it took like 25 minutes F***k this place

I drive 40 miles one way to come eat here. Yes it's good. The service is top notch and it's just a nice place to relax and plan your day.

Service was amazing staff super friendly and helpful. This was our 1st time and we will definitely be coming back. I couldn't even finish all my food. This place is welcoming and food is authentic they deserve more than 5 stars.

Really great breakfast spot in downtown Oxnard. The huevos rancheros deluxe were amazing & their pancakes were fluffy and delicious. I wish I came with a friend so we could try the chilequiles also they looked great on the table next to me. Highly recommend this spot.

I've gone to this restaurant many times, and the service has been awesome except the last two times. The same young man attended me both times and both times he kept me and my brother waiting and waiting and forgot to call us. And still really said he called us, when in fact, I saw another customer waiting outside that experience, the same service from the same young man. When I go back.? I think not
