Where To Eat In Northern Westchester - New York - The Infatuation

"Despite being located in a Whole Foods parking lot, Bia American Kitchen in Chappaqua has the most action in a Westchester dining room we’ve seen in the last couple of years. The space has high ceilings, a large generous bar area with separate seating, and lots of booths that invite group dining. The menu covers the basics of the modern American playbook—raw fish, flatbreads, grilled meats and fish—and the prices generally match the high design vibes. We’ve had some spotty service here, and generally enjoyed the main courses more than the starters. But on a weekend when you don’t want to go all the way to NYC, there’s no better place in Westchester to feel like you still had a fun night out. Bia is also a nice option for lunch during the week, and we think the grain bowls are a great way to play daytime dining here." - mike wasserman

I’ve dined at Bia Kitchen several times and have always had a wonderful experience. When it came time to plan my baby shower, I knew I wanted to have it at Bia. Seneca and his team were an absolute joy to work with from start to finish. They made a special day absolutely perfect, and I could have not been more pleased with the food or service. I would use them again in a heartbeat!

Google
Beautiful restaurant packed with people. Obviously they are doing something right. The food was ok. Nothing amazing. Usually there is something memorable about the food but not here. I love the place and the vibe. Guys step up the flavor please. I’d go back but not for the food. This place should be straight 5! Not there yet.

The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the food and service at our table were truly excellent. Unfortunately, our overall experience was impacted by the bartender. Her attitude felt dismissive and unhelpful, not only toward us but toward other guests as well. When we politely asked if she could help us get our server, she responded with a very rude, “I don’t do that, I just run the bar.” We heard her say this multiple times to others, and it left us genuinely shocked. For a place that is so elegant and high-end, we expected a much higher standard of hospitality. Every other staff member did a wonderful job — but the bartender’s behavior significantly took away from what could have been a perfect evening.

Google
I had a lovely experience here on Monday night. The bartender was not only funny and attentive but super talented. She made us fun cocktails and even helped order our dinner. For a Monday night the place was jumping with good vibes. The food was tasty. The dessert was great and over all can’t wait to come back

We have eaten here several times and were never disappointed with the food or the service. The atmosphere speaks for itself- so dramatic and beautiful! We just had our son’s engagement party there with more than 100 people. Simi and Seneca could not have been more accommodating. The food and service were fantastic- they anticipated every need. It was a perfect night! ALL of my guests could stop raving!!! Highly recommend!!!

Google
Bia has an amazing vibe at the bar, not only are you treated to some amazing cocktails created by the knowledgeable mixologist. The wine list seems to cover everything you would want whether it is a glass of bubbles or a nice red to enjoy with the steak. The menu has the staples that you expect but also some great specials. The crispy cauliflower bites have to be my favourite

Google
I stopped by here out of curiosity recently. Bia is a pleasant new modern restaurant located in the heart of the shopping centers of Chappaqua. I enjoyed stopping here for a late night cocktail and steak sandwich. Erica the bartender was sweet and attentive. My friend Cathy stopped by and remembered me which was very pleasant. This place is definitely up and coming. My personaly preference is that Bia should stay open at least until 9 or 10 on a Sunday. That makes it convenient for me when I'm finishing work. I will definitely stop by again soon and I look forward to doing so.

Google
Food and atmosphere is great. I’ve been 3 times and enjoyed pretty much everything I’ve tried. The tuna is great, cauliflower app, the flatbread is interesting and the sea bass is delicious. It’s always got a great vibe, especially the tables and booths around the bar. The one area that consistently lets the place down is the cocktails. I’ve tried multiple cocktails and nothing has ever been that good. The American Gangster leaves you with a ton syrup at the bottom of the glass, martinis are just ok and they have a couple of weird takes on classics that miss the mark.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with comfy chairs with great waitstaff is a great combo to start. Table shared charred octopus , tender and charred great Buffalo cauliflower was ok. Little too hot Calamari was ok. Not seasoned and over cooked. Philly spring rolls were on point I loved them. Brussel sprouts were tender and charred good I ordered pork chops. They sliced them and it was little overdone. Wish there was more potato puree. Son ordered ravioli and he loved it. Wife had the French chicken. It was cooked tender and the risotto was creamy Also ordered Chilean sea bass. It was a nice size piece but little underdone . We brought our own cakes for my bday too. Waitress was really good and professional. Place was nice and cold and alot of space . My son had the lamb shank and he loved it was creamy and super Tender. Huge parking lot. Definitely will come back. Prices are little high but it's all about location

Yelp
One of my good friends and I like to get together periodically to catch up, and we always make an effort to catch dinner along the way. During this latest link up, she suggested we check out Bia American Kitchen as she had been here a few weeks prior for an event and had good things to say. I had never heard of this place before, but was excited to check it out - so off we went. Bia is a relatively new restaurant, and is located in Chappaqua Crossing. I remember hearing rumblings about CC in the mid 2010s when I worked in the town, and I have t say they did an excellent job with it. There are a lot of shops, restaurants, as well as residences here which has made it somewhat of a destination in Northern Westchester. Anyway, Bia sits on a corner in the Crossing with ample parking nearby. It has a grand presence from the exterior and and even greater impact after you enter. The space is gorgeous - super high ceilings, a contemporary design, and a fresh color scheme that mixes warm and cool colors; someone put a lot of money into this place and it shows. The restaurant is also huge - the front of the restaurant houses the bar area which then gives way to the main dining room with an additional dining space in the back. As suggested by the name, Bia serves mostly New American fare. The menu is pretty large, with sections dedicated to shareables, apps, salads, handhelds (the trendy new name for sandwiches), and mains. We decided to start out with a drink - I went with the Spiced Roseberry Daiquiri which was just fine. I didn't find it to have a lot of flavor and likely wouldn't order it again. For food, we decided to order a bunch of stuff and share - the vegetable flatbread, black kale and couscous salad (we added salmon to it), lump crab ceviche, and chicken basquaise. All of the food was really good, with my favorite being the crab - super fresh with lots of flavor. The flatbread was solid as was the chicken; the salad was a super large portion - good flavor but the mix of the couscous with the kale left the former a little gloppy/overdone. It was an interesting combination I'm just not sure it works; the grains were also larger than I was expecting. Service was great, everyone was super friendly and all of the food came out at a good pace. Overall, I had a great experience at Bia. Aesthetically speaking they hit it out of the park, and the food was solid (definitely more hits than misses); I would call this restaurant is a standout in Northern Westchester and a welcome addition to the area. I wish the owners the best as they embark on this new venture, and would definitely return for another meal.

Yelp
JC from Westchester My wife and I visited this restaurant For dinner Wednesday, and on a Wednesday it was busy and that's good to see, the place is absolutely beautiful, the bar area is stunning and dining rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated and designed, The service was really really good, Attentive but not pushy, The 3 cone crudo is amazingly delicious, salmon, tuna, white fish Amazing, The entrees of salmon and cod were Also really good, and the desert of "tres leches" wow wow wow So to the owner and staff great job and a great place, wish you many years of success And remember as always "Mangia Bene, Vivi Bene"

Yelp
A large group from my office went for dinner. They provided a menu specifically for our party with lots of options. We only had one server and he seemed stressed (I get it but he made me stressed! lol). The food was delicious, the portions were generous and everyone was very happy. I would go back next time I am in town.

Yelp
Dined there this evening. Food and service were exceptional. Great wine and cocktail selection. Freshly made in-house desserts. Go for the Mousse.

Yelp
Great newish restaurant in Chappaqua. The restaurant is beautiful and the service is fun. Before dinner we sat the bar for a few cocktails. I tried the lavender lemon drop and my boyfriend had the woodsman. Both drinks beautiful and tasted even better. The bartender is fun and can recommend something that you will sure to enjoy. For dinner we shared a few appetizers( tuna, oysters and the honey goat cheese flatbread ). For my main I had the halibut and my boyfriend had the burger. Both of them were delicious and I can't wait to come back. Good job team.

L W.

Yelp
Overpriced and food is subpar. I ordered rack of lamb, medium. It came rare, and was so tough it was like sawing through a log, all for $52. My Friend ordered halibut that was overcooked and rubbery. The noise level is so loud in the back room that it was hard to hear my friend. The servers tried but were not trained well, esp. for the price point. We had to wait about 20 minutes for our reservation. The people in front of us had to wait over a half hour (we chatted while we were waiting). The concept is nice but not well executed.

Yelp
Went to Bia on Friday evening for dinner and it was very disappointing. My wife ordered the tuna appetizer which she has had there before. She tasted it and lost her breath. The chef added hot red chili peppers to it without noting it on the menu. The waiter said he would "inform the kitchen:. I ordered the escargot appetizer which was like rubber. My wife's main course came with broccolini which was not cooked and couldn't even cut. My rack of lamb which I have had there before came covered in a mushy tasteless white sauce which was terrible. We always liked Bia, maybe it was a new chef but we will not return for a long time to spend $200+ for a bad set of dinners.

Yelp
Pretty good! Enjoyed the French onion soup and the cheese-honey flatbread, but the draw is really the place itself, which feels like a luxury hotel in Aspen. Tall windows, high ceilings, all wood, little library shelves of books throughout. Really cozy and fancy. Good spot for a small meal and a drink or coffee.

Yelp
Food is always great here. Staff is friendly. The place looks great, great use of the open space

Joanie M.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite restaurants! The food and drinks are always amazing -- consistently fresh and flavorful. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, which makes every visit such a great experience. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We have been here twice and both times had a good experience. Food is really good. There are several meat options, vegetarian and seafood. Specials are also very good. Appetizer menu is a bit limited, in my humble opinion, but you can always find something to your liking. We did not try dessert. Wine list by the glass (red) is heavy on California, and is OK. Considering the wide selection of wines by the bottle, I wish there was a better variety. Pricing is "normal " by today standards, with entrees in $20-$50 range. Drinks are reasonably priced. Great atmosphere, terrific service. Bill for 5 with wine, drinks, appetizers and coffee came to $460 with tax before tip.

Sabrina S.

Yelp
Delicious! The restaurant is very trendy and beautiful with a nice electric fireplace that makes it feel cozy. We started with the swedish meatballs which were yummy and the bao mushroom buns recommended by the waiter which tasted like meat, so good. We then had the beef stroganoff which had large pieces of steak on top which was very tender and the chilean sea bass which melted in your mouth, but be warned the sauce on top is a little bit spicy. We finished with the apple cobbler, soooo good! We'll be back!

John N.

Yelp
This is my second visit. it was middle of the week and the restaurant was half empty. You would think the food and service would be stellar. It was not! The waitress screwed up the drink order and it took forever for them to figure out the error. In the meantime two had drinks and two didn't. My chicken dish was horribly overcooked. Everyone else 's dish was good. Beautiful place but hit or miss on food and service. Also, be prepared, pocketbook will not be happy.

Michelle C.

Yelp
My son and I had an amazing lunch at Bia American Kitchen!! Our apps and meals were amazing, delicious and plentiful. My son said, "This is the best burger I have ever had in my life!" The restaurant interior is uniquely beautiful. We felt welcomed, comfortable and didn't feel rushed. Can't wait to go back! FYI - The fried banana cheesecake is a must try!!

Mike N.

Yelp
What a nice surprise. came in here on a whim on a Sunday afternoon and couldn't be happier. We sat at the Bar with Erica and enjoyed amazing cocktails and great food. We met Simi the owner and what a nice guy. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the atmosphere is beyond gorgeous. great addition

Lila P.

Yelp
I have been here several times since Bia first opened and each experience has been great. Whether dining with a friend, on a date, or with a group we have loved the food (we've eaten several things on the menu now and have never been disappointed), the service, and the ambiance. Definitely a new favorite and will continue to go.

Zifer T.

Yelp
First, the restaurant is gorgeous and the ambiance is excellent. Second, the food is delicious. I've tried nearly everything on the menu and honestly cannot pick a favorite thing everything is just so good. Third, the service is 5 stars, love this place!

Ethan H.

Yelp
Nice physical space but the food is just awful. Went there on Saturday night. The short rib ravioli was lacking in short rib and just very thick pasta sheets. No ravioli should be this thick and gummy. The burger was well done instead of medium rare. The shrimp taco was a not well seasoned and boring. The salads were very basic. We ordered the 'triple chocolate cake'.....It was more akin to a black forest cake with some type of cherry or berry jelly between every single layer. Not my jam or the jam of anybody at the table, but we did not complain. $400 for 4 people. Just terrible. Will not be returning obviously. Things more like diner food but Mount Kisco diner or the Beehive in Armonk runs rings around this place.

Jen V.

Yelp
Very elegant space, with great acoustics. Music was kept at an appropriate volume so dinner conversation was easy to hear. The cocktail/mocktail menu is interesting and the bar is popular. The service was enthusiastic and attentive. The menu is eclectic with a nice selection of appetizers, smaller and larger plates, and a good selection of wines by the glass. We were looking forward to the 40 year aged beef burger, but by 7 pm, they were already sold out. We did enjoy the Maitake mushrooms in salsa verde and pomegranate. The special grill artichokes were tasty but hard to chew. There were so many interesting items on the menu, we will certainly be back.

Argjend K.

Yelp
Stunning new restaurant. Service was like that of a family, wonderful quality and cuisine. Thank you for taking exceptional care of my family tonight.

Papa J.

Yelp
Tried the newish restaurant in Chappaqua recently and while the restaurant and ambiance is GORGEOUS, unfortunately the food was inedible. Not one person in our party enjoyed one bite of any of the apps or mains or the DESSERTS. Very unfortunate as it's a beautiful space. Oh and it ain't cheap.

G T.

Yelp
I don't mind spending a lot of money for food if it is good. This food was not. The chicken was dry and overcooked. Salad was fresh but way overpriced for lettuce and cucumbers. They charged for bread?!?!

Henrietta A.

Yelp
Very elegant ambiance and convenient location near the Whole Foods. Came here for weekend lunch with a friend and it was not crowded at all. Loved the crispy Brussels sprouts.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Well I really hoped to like this restaurant as my mother lives in Chappaqua- the restaurant is very pretty inside, but we had a very lukewarm experience with the food, and relatively awful with regards to service. I am a person who eats out regularly, and this is the first time I have been to a high end restaurant that offers you nothing before your appetizer. No bread, no breasticks, nothing. We were all ( 4 of us) drinking wine on empty stomachs, waiting the 30 minutes for our appetizers to come out. When we asked for bread, they reacted somewhat confused but then said it was in the oven. 10 minutes later we did get a nice bread basket, but we were charged for it- $5. I have never experienced this anywhere before. Next 2 appetizers came out, and if was a full 5 minutes until the other 2 followed. Awkwardness persisted as half our party waited to begin eating. The same thing happened with our entrees, 2 came out and 2 did not, with a substantial wait in between. My mothers Salmon dinner was so cold it had to be sent back. Bia is an expensive restaurant, with filet mignon closing in at about $59. The filet was a 3 inch tall and 3 inch wide piece, about half the size you would expect at a restaurant. 2 of us had the filet, and agreed it did not taste any better than the supermarket variety, and was actually very difficult to cut- hard to say if their steak knives are just that bad, or the steak was that tough- but it was not tender by any means. After this very " we don't really know what we are doing", dinner, we opted to leave without attempting dessert. Truly dissapointing regarding service and quality of food for the very high prices. We won't be back.
