12 Notable Twin Cities Restaurant and Bar Openings in October - Eater Twin Cities

"A new coffee shop opened in George Floyd Square on October 4. Bichota Coffee, from owner C. Anderson, offers rotating single-origin pours as well as mezclas (house blends); loose-leaf teas from Wesley Andrews; and conchas from Marissa’s Bakery, with plans to eventually launch an in-house bakery program, according to Racket. Anderson broke down the meaning behind the shop’s name for Racket: “What I take out of ‘bichota’ is this flirtatious confidence that you have being in a place not meant for you — a feeling of ‘this wasn’t meant for me, but I did it anyway,’” he said. “It’s just sort of recognizing that coffee is grown in these Black and Brown communities around the world, yet coffee shops rarely reflect those cultures.”" - Justine Jones

$4.36 for a 10oz cup of a bright citrusy Honduran drip that was decidedly unremarkable and lukewarm and not so fresh tasting. Excellent space and light and vibe. Friendly staff. This place was very empty late on an August Saturday morning after a rainstorm.

Honestly one of the best matchas I’ve ever had! Great space to work or study from. Plenty of power outlets and reliable WiFi. It was clean and visually pleasing. Also, really enjoyed the music here, I had to add a few songs to my playlist. I will definitely be coming back here for the beverages and music when I wanna get out to work/study!

Loved the bright atmosphere and lots of tables to chat or work at. The housemade syrups were delicious— the vanilla latte was my favorite. The chai latte was pretty spicy.

Possibly the *best* chai in all of Minneapolis. Spice-forward without all the refined sugar to mask it. Carefully poured into a beautiful ceramic cup in a brightly curated cafe space that has impeccable music selection. Make this one of your regular stops, you won’t regret it.

Wonderful experience here when I visited Sunday morning, I did have a cortado it was delicious. The space was nice enough for me to relax and read for a while. I received very friendly service and I would recommend to anyone looking for a good coffee shop to read, do work, or even catch up with a friend.

Cute shop, friendly service, excellent vibes, amazing drinks, and a great location! Love to see a community-orientated Latine-owned coffee shop in George Floyd Square! They were playing such good music, selling bags of coffee beans and Conchas (Mexican sweet bread), selling local ceramics, and making delicious drinks. We ordered a matcha and flat white. The glasses were charming, and the flavors were great. Lots of seating and we enjoyed sitting in a booth and relaxing while we sipped our drinks. Will definitely be back and will tell all of our friends about it!

We came in today just after the rain. It seemed like others had the same idea at the same time. I love the vibe in this beautiful coffee shop. Customers had small kids, who immediately went to the snacks and milk in the fridge available for them. People were saying hello to one another, smiling and being polite. It’s a bright, colorful, clean, vibrant environment and it has an immediate affect of everyone who enters. The atmosphere is one of a neighborhood gathering place. The coffee, tea and pastry we had were spot on. We subscribe to the subscription service provided on Bichota’s website, but we thoroughly enjoy spending time in the shop too. The baristas are excellent. We come in often and now they know our go to orders. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. If you are there when the owner is in the shop, he’s very friendly and you should strike up a conversation with him. Bichota is our favorite coffee shop in the city.

Yelp
I really love what the owners have brought to this neighborhood. I'll get to the coffee but also I love the energy, music and vibes of this ship. The coffee is really good, I am constantly impressed by their brewing and the use of local products. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
