Cool hangout featuring select craft beers on tap, plus 5,000 vinyl records & a lineup of DJs.
"Bierwax in Prospect Heights is one of the least nerdy bars for beer nerds. It’s a dark, narrow room with a DJ booth up front and a whole wall of vinyl behind a long bar that takes up most of the space, and it tends to get pretty loud. But there’s a backyard if you need a quiet place to sit, as well as a couch in the back of the space near a bookshelf filled with educational reading materials on beer. They also have another, much larger location in Ridgewood, in case you need a spot for your next birthday party." - neha talreja, bryan kim, hannah albertine, willa moore
"No matter how many types of hops you can rattle off the top of your head, or how old you were when you memorized “Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots,” you’re going to come across beer and music at Bierwax that you’ve never tasted or heard before. This Prospect Heights beer bar has more than 5,000 vinyl records, and a huge selection of beers that you can order by the can or from the tap. Stop by any day between 4-11pm (1-11pm on weekends), and learn about some new beers and music at one of the first come first served tables in their backyard." - nikko duren
"There are two Bierwax locations in NYC. The original is in a cozy space in Prospect Heights that feels like a fun, cramped neighborhood clubhouse, and the other is in a huge warehouse-like room on a quiet corner of Ridgewood. Both have walls of records and great beer selections, and neither is necessarily better than the other. Stop by the Brooklyn location if you want to listen to some soul, funk, or '90s hip hop with a friend, or plan your next birthday party at the Queens one. They were playing Bad Bunny the last time we stopped by." - Bryan Kim, Kenny Yang
"If you head out for a night of beer and heavy metal, you might assume that you'll be shotgunning Tecates before jumping into a mosh pit. But come to Bierwax on Thursday night, and you can engage in a little head-banging but still go home with your body intact. You'll get a full night of heavy metal records (and probably no mosh pit), with great speakers and better beer. From 6pm to midnight you can get specialty beers from Alewife, KCBC, Fifth Frame and more." - neha talreja
