When I say the food is BOSS??!
The northern United States does not--I repeat, *does NOT*--know how to do food. Ever since moving from my home state of Louisiana in 2018, I've come across one mediocre "top-rated" Chinese restaurant after another, especially in Texas. Now, I have Chinese restaurants here in DC that I frequent, which are really good. But they still don't hold a candle to what we have in my native southeastern U.S.
I lived in ATL for a few months a decade ago, and a business trip brought me back in March 2023. In a great hotel room, I wanted some great Shrimp Fried Rice, and Big Boss did not disappoint. The portion was a very nice to-go size, and the side of steamed broccoli was as fresh and crunchy as ever. Pigging out over the city lights of Midtown, I had to stop myself so that I'd have some left for later in the night.
This was, by far, the best Shrimp Fried Rice I've had in more than 5 years. But considering where I was, I'm not surprised. I can still taste the shrimp, of which there were plenty. My morning flight got cancelled because of the big storm, and I was so disappointed that they were closed on Mondays. I mean, my stomach was RUMBLING! But I'll be back in the same hotel on nearly the same weekend next year, and Big Boss is the only place I'm thinking about food-wise.
Shrimp Fried Rice: $17.50
Side of Steamed Broccoli: $3.75
Special thanks to Brad with Uber Eats.
