Big Boy

My three star rank isn't because of one thing, but because of a multitude of things that individually aren't bad, but taken together, reduce the rank a lot. When I first got there and was seated, the first thing I noticed was that the booths were uncomfortable. You sort of sink into them with a harder part to the front of the seat that put pressure under your legs. If you have a tendency towards sciatica, the booths will aggravate it. Looking at the menu, I would say a lot of areas had limited selection. For example, there were a very limited number of omelets with none of the standard ones. I was debating between the ruben, Philly cheese steak and the sausage gravy on biscuits. I settled on the sausage gravy and biscuits with the added plate of eggs bacon and sausage. The scrambled eggs were on the dry side, which is the way I like them, but many people won't. The sausage in the gravy didn't have a lot of flavor. The biscuits were strange with a texture that was somewhere between bread and biscuits. I went to the bathroom and used the handicap stall because I use a cane and a handrail helps me stand back up. The first thing I noticed was that you had to fight with the replacement latch to lock the door. Since I can stand without my cane, I was able to pick up on the door and latch it. Someone who couldn't stand without a cane or was in a wheelchair wouldn't stand a chance. This got me looking around. I realized that the entire door assembly was damaged. I would normally excuse this because I wouldn't know when someone decided to swing from it and it takes a while for things like that to get fixed, but this got me looking around more. It looked like that, while they do mop the floor, they don't do a good, through cleaning. Look at the pictures I posted, but there is grime in the corners and around the toilet next to the one I used. The hand rail in the handicapped stall has some kind of brown stuff on it. No it's not poop, at first I thought it was just the chrome wearing off but it's in the wrong position for that. It looks like baked on grease which isn't likely. I've been trying to figure out what it is and decided it's likely grime from a thousand hands touching the bar. Overall the place looks run down. I'm not sorry I went, but I'm not returning. There are too many other places close by that I can eat at.

We came in as a small circus — two adults, two kids, and a toddler — and he handled our chaos with grace, patience, and a genuine smile the whole time! Brittany and Melanie were managing together for the Trunk or Treat event, and they completely knocked it out of the park. The whole experience felt like coming home to family — warm, welcoming, and full of laughter. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito, and it was excellent. My sister got the Classic Slim Jim, and let’s just say the fries didn’t stand a chance — we ended up ordering more because they were that good! Troy had them out within minutes, thanks to the cooks in the back who nailed everything perfectly. You won’t find “five-star fine dining” here — and that’s exactly the point. Big Boy isn’t about perfection; it’s about comfort, community, and nostalgia. It brings you back to simpler times when great food and friendly faces were all that mattered — and that’s what makes it so perfectly imperfect. We arrived at Big Boy around 6:50 PM. The restaurant was nearly empty — only about four other families were there — so we didn’t expect to wait long. However, it took five minutes just to be seated, and then another ten minutes before we even received our drinks. While waiting, we noticed the staff turning off the lights on the salad bar, even though it was still early in the evening. When our waiter, Cade, finally returned, I asked if the salad bar was closed. He seemed unsure and told me, “We normally shut it down at 6:30, but a family came in that wanted it.” This was at 7:08 PM, and nothing had been removed from the bar yet. I asked why we couldn’t still get the salad bar since it was clearly still set up, and his answer made no sense — something about the previous family being done, so they were shutting it down. When I questioned this logic, Cade just walked off without another word or even taking our menus, leaving us sitting there awkwardly. The whole situation gave the impression that the staff simply wanted to close early and make the night easier for themselves, regardless of customer experience. For a place that’s supposed to be family-friendly and welcoming, this was incredibly disappointing. We ended up leaving frustrated and won’t be coming bacl.

Our server was amazing!! Very polite and helpful. The food was nasty. The fries are old and burned. The chicken looked old as well. For an expensive turkey plate you’re getting shavings of nasty looking turkey and small veggies. I seen 5 tables that were dirty from previous customers and they sat dirty the entire time I was there. Food all over the floor near the tables and the floors seemed very sticky.

Never going back I just ordered a Philly cheestake and the bread seems so cheap that it is dry and falling apart before I could even take a bite and they put 2 globs of cold nacho cheese on it and the cheese taste like it’s rotten. 16 dollars for the worst meal ever. They didn’t put napkins or anything in the bag. I’ve ordered a few times to go here and there since I moved to the area over a year ago and the burger meal I tried was horrible to the burger had no taste at all and the bread was soggy. The only thing me and my fiancé really enjoyed from there was chicken Alfredo but they stopped selling it I guess. Edit: so my bf literally ate his fries and than picked off some of the meat and ate around the cold nasty cheese and when he was done I noticed a onion and I went to pick it up to eat it because he was done and it had a hair on it smh it’s like a light brown hair my hair is black and he has no hair. Never again

Absolutely awesome! Service was great, was able to memorize order and get it out to us with only one small hiccup. Brought out French toast instead of pancakes. Immediately corrected it then left French toast with us since they had to trash them anyways. That’s how to make happy customers in an error, which happens to the best of us. In my opinion, every store messes up orders from time to time but it’s how they deal with it/you afterwards and these guys nailed it! Every bit of our food was great after sampling 5 dishes (family of 5). The big boy burger and onions rings were amazing. We also had 4 deserts after dinner and they were very high quality and hefty amounts. Soooo worth my money I couldn’t believe it especially in today’s economy it was nice to feel bang for my buck again. We will 100% be going back. After reading some of the bad reviews from approximately 4-5 months ago it seems most all the complaints have been addressed and I witnessed them personally. One was about not being helped in the lobby. There was a gentleman standing in the lobby tonight that was asked if he needed help 3 times before my family even sat down. Another bad review mentioned poor food quality but as you read it was amazing. Another was poor service from wait staff that didn’t seem to care but they must have hired a new crew or something but all I saw was great attentive service from all 3 of the servers on the floor. Our server was fast with requests and very polite with my kids. I wish I got his name, started with a K. Another bad review was disgusting bathroom so I went to look and it was a clean up-to-snuff bathroom. New favorite place in town! Thank you Big Boy staff!

wow i am impressed.. i got a double big boy burger and it A BEAST! much better than big macs and double big mac. i also added onion rings to my order and they were excellent. wide range of foods such as breakfast, country fried steak and eggs, farmers omelette, waffles, french toast and pancakes and biscuits and gravy. sides like chili cheese fries, onion rings and pretzel bites. many sandwiches including a $13 smash burger. deserts like banana split, floats and shakes. Even turkey dinners, fish and chips and chicken parm.. iconic restaurant that is still very good

Everyone at Big Boy cares about my dining experience. Although, there has been some misses along the way, I go out to eat often and have experienced the same. No restaurant is perfect. The Saturday and Sunday buffet is run well with fresh food. The servers are always smiling and pleasant. Not fancy but good food.

We were traveling home from the UP of Michigan and needed some food I remember growing up with Bob's Big Boy and Nostalgia said stop let's get some dinner Well Nostalgia was left outside the door.. service was garbage the food wasn't anything close to what I remember it being sure wasn't nothing to call home to Mom about yeah sorry I stopped here

I had a good meal here. Unfortunately I had an issue with the food but the staff promptly took care of it so no big deal. The service was great though don't have shirts on the wall that look for sale if you don't actually have any for sale. I did enjoy my sundae though.

Food was good, milkshakes excellent! Friendly staff, food was made quickly and salad bar looked well stocked. Could improve on overall cleanliness but decent overall.

Good burgers, great milkshakes. Good spot to bring kids, friendly staff. Restaurant seemed to be pretty clean and the buffet looked to be well stocked.

Marybeth waited on us and did a terrific job! she was prompt, friendly and brought our food out as ordered.

Why wasn't this place packed? I came in for nostalgia food--the Big Boy Big Mac as I call it, and a chocolate malt. Fabulous! Wonderful burger nice patties and excellent special sauce. The malt was perfection, made with malt powder, YUM and came with the tin for extra helpings. The service was spot on super nice. This place should have been packed at lunch.

We just got home from a Mothers Day breakfast from the Cedar Springs Big Boy and had to take a moment to write a review because we had such great service! I wish I caught the name of the young woman who seated us, served us and checked us out. She was literally doing it all and did everything amazingly well! We had drinks on our table within a couple minutes of being seated. Our food was out within a few minutes of ordering. She had a smile the entire time and was so polite. We used a credit card to pay so that is done at the cashier stand at the exit. She even checked us out. And as we checked out, she was ringing up our bill, answering a phone call and simultaneously handing me a carnation for Mothers Day. All this while smiling without a hint of stress. If a manager from this location is reading this, take good care of this employee! If I had a business where I needed an employee, I would poach her in a heartbeat (and ask her if she had siblings I could also hire.) She's a gem and represents you at the highest level! We live twenty miles away from this location, but will be visiting again because of our great experience!

Big Boy always is good to stop at for a meal. I came here with family on a road trip and we all enjoyed our meals. My mom has the pot roast and my dad & I had the slim Jim sandwich. All very good ! Wait staff is quick and friendly. We enjoyed this location very much!

I didn't even realize that Big Boys was open by the number of cars in their parking lot, but I drove in to look and it looked like they were open, so I went in. They need a big OPEN sign or something that lights up to let people know they are now open. somi went in and ordered Chili with fresh cut onions and shredded cheese. I also ordered. Big Boy sandwich and fries. it was a long wait and everything came at once. I would have liked to have my soup first, but no big deal. When I got my meal, the Chili only filled the bowl half way, and there wasn't a fresh cut onion to be found anywhere. The chili was bland and not much there to eat anyway. So I don't like to be a complainer, so I ate it, then went for my fries and big boy sandwich. To my surprise the fries were hot, and so was the sandwich. A+ for that! I ate up and ordered a second cup of coffee when the waitress/seater came by me to seat a couple right next to me. It was no more than 3 feet from them to me. I felt very uncomfortable being that close to another unmasked couple. So instead of enjoying my after dinner cup of freshly brewed coffee, I hate to get up and leave. The restaurant was empty so there was no reason for not leaving at least one empty booth between us. So that was my review of Big Boys. Overall, they were better than they used to be, but need a better sign to let people know they are open, and they DEFINITELY MUST leave the required 15 feet between patrons of the restaurant. I will give them another try. Next time, please fill my soup bowl up to almost the top, and read the menu so we get the freshly chopped onions and grated cheese. After all you do charge $5.00 a bowl for that, ($4.99) to be exact.

Stopped in on Monday 21 March, I ordered the salad bar my ordered the 3 egg special withe sausage, bacon hash browns and toast. What he received was the farmers omelette and the potatoes or hash browns were nearly raw. My friend notified the waitress who took the wrong order back and when the replacement order arrived the hash browns were cooked but only two eggs instead of three. There were no tomatoes, cucumbers or anything else to put on the salad, the salad dressings were crusted over. Thought we'll maybe the soups would be good, chose the clam chowder, ask if there was anyone since there was only less than an inch, response was " it is what it is " from the blonde waitress. Do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

A couple years ago, we stopped eating at any Big Boys, because of poor service and a lot of menu items not available. Fast forward to today, we have been coming back the last few weeks and waa la, they are out of 2 dinner menu items. A. Why cant the management get their ordering together B. Why cant the cooks tell the waitresses, so they can tell the customer ? I gave it a 2 star, because the waitress was wonderful. If there is someplace else open, go there.

The food there is good, but it's not too clean sometime. I would still eat there thoug.

My parents always love to eat at Big Boy when I come to visit. I have to say that it's definitely gone down hill in regards to service and quality. The food sat in the window for a really long time, even though the server saw it and walked past it several times. It all came out cold and the fries were super soggy. My dad's order didn't come out right. We were never asked if we wanted refills. And... I'm pretty sure our server was on drugs.

Horrible experience! Paid $10 for two small strips of fish and chips and no cole slaw. My dad got a slim Jim sandwich (no fries) for $7 that looked like it was made on the heels of a bread loaf. The iced tea tasted like water. The salad bar was barely stocked. The restaurant was not clean. And how does Big Boy run out of hot fudge cakes???

Really wish servers would explain up charge from fries to onion rings incl cost. Was taken aback when $2.99 x2 was added especially for the small portions. It came across in discussion"onion rings were one of my choices" in addition to fries. (No mention of up charge " Also don't like tip options at register. Also think $2.69 for a cup of hot tea is "steep".

If it were possible to give negative stars I'd go around a -4 to -6 out of a -10/+10 score.... HORRID, to the point I didn't eat anything, French toast literally was soggy egg bread, there was nothing toasted about it. I should have know it was a bad Restaurant Decision by the looks of the very Un- energetic servers dressed in their dirty clothes from yesterday's shift, HORRIBLE SERVICE HORRIFIC FOOD... a definite regret which will never happen again. Save yourself the frustration and go to a different local restaurant.

Buffet bar was disgusting. I had chicken strips platter that came with hard cole slaw, soggy fries, 3 little thin chicken strips with hard breading, one strip was only a little chunk. Boyfriend had Slim Jim sandwich with onion rings. Rings had same hard breading and the onions were raw. Bread on sandwich was even hard.

This is a great place to eat breakfast. We eat here every Sunday and our waitress knows what we like and is on top of making sure we have what we need.

Seats not cleaned - very sticky - so my slacks and hands were very dirty - ordered a salad and chicken tenders - salad only had tomatoes- no onions - tenders never arrived....

I will never eat here again. Our food was not great. My fries were undercooked. My husband fish was mushy. Our food was not very hot and it was freezing in the restaurant so everything cooled off quickly. I was thinking of ordering a dessert but decided I just wanted to get out of there. Very disappointing.

My food was basically frozen, I had French toast with cinnamon apples and I could hardly bite into the apple. We had to ask other servers to refill our drinks because we couldn't find ours. We had to ask for silverware and get our own ketchup, they gave us an empty bottle of hot sauce. Overall the worst dining experience I've had. Will definitely not be going back.

We go here on Wednesday nights during the summer for their cruise in of classic cars. Normally we get great service and the food is good. That is the reason for the 4 stars instead of being lower. This time was totally different. I always get the salad bar with soup. I get a plate with my salad built the way I like it and a bowl of soup so it can cool down a bit before digging in. I started eating my salad an it didn't taste right. Extremely sour or tart. Tasted a couple items by themselves and determined that the mushrooms were bad. I was finally able to tell our waitress and she said she would let someone know. Decided to eat my soup. Got the broccoli soup. Way to soupy. Normally not like this. Tasted good, just runny. Went up to get more salad without the mushrooms that were still on the salad bar, but there was no lettuce. I did get some cottage cheese and macaroni salad that tasted good. After our meal, we passed the salad bar and the mushrooms were still there. Will I go back again? Absolutely. This was the only time I've had an issue. I just had to write about this day because it just got worse as the night went on. I'm sorry, but if you know something is wrong on the salad bar, it should have been removed right away.

The food was excellent, both hot and fresh. The place was neat and clean. But I must say that the waitress was by far the absolute best waitress I have ever had! Ask for Presley you will not be disappointed. She was friendly and very helpful. Not to mention has the best since of humor! We will most definitely go back! Say hi to the best waitress on the planet and enjoy an excellent meal!

Cedar Springs BB. Was there today and never again. Waitress was awful and they weren't busy at all. When mother in law sent her food back for being under cooked the assistant manager said, " in my opinion the food is cooked thourghly.". What happened to serving the customer? Mother in law ended up with pie that I can say they didn't charge her for but she would of rather had what she ordered cooked to her liking. Won't be going back.

Love this bb location, I used to always go to Greenville but I made the switch. Well worth the drive..we had the best server this morning..I don't remember her name, but she was tall, thin, and looked liked Steven Tyler's sister!! Great server! Kind and extremely efficient! Manager was involved in running out food! It all starts at the top..thanks for a great meal.

I have never left a bad review at a restaurant.. I have and do work at a busy restaurant but tonight (Thursday July 27th) was a little unbelievable. I took my four nieces out for dinner, arrived about 7. (Heard my waitress say table 12, second away from cook window) Took about 35 minutes to receive just our sides with our meals, the waitress said that she would get them as soon as she was done with her other table, another 10 minutes go by. (I do not blame our waitress, she was attentive, friendly, and helpful). I heard her say multiple times when she went up to the window to talk to the cooks and other waitresses that were on hand that she needed help until she caught up, no one helped her.. But once we received the kids sides, (three of them) mac & cheese all of them were cold! Didn't complain, until i heard another waitress walk up to the cooks window saying that ANOTHER table had complained that both her children's mac and cheese was cold, was never made fresh.. And the sides of fries were ridiculous, the second plate was literally SIX SMALL FRIES. We also asked for a peanut butter and jelly NOT grilled.... Received it with one side grilled, instead of replacing the bread they left it.. Which because grilled my 6 year old niece refused to eat! With no refills on the milk when they drank them far before our meals let alone sides even arrived. Also received my chicken quesadilla cold and our waitress said she would bring salsa and sour cream over right after she sets our stuff down.. It was brought over 10 minutes later when i had two bites left. I am so irritated that our experience was that horrible that i never want to go back to one of my favorite restaurants again.

We got there on a Sunday afternoon,was seated as soon as we came in the door, but took over 5 min to get a server to take our order. They were just standing around by the side counter talking...and when the food came, the server forgot our silverware, coffee is 1.99 and I got one refill,that a rip off..service is soooooo slow,only gave two stars because the food tasted good..note to self. Don't go on a weekend..

Worst ever!!! I bit into a raw burger then they made me pay for the drink of pop I drank to rinse my mouth!!! Husband left half his meal (which we paid for) cuz my stomach was turning If you eat here make sure you have health insurance Never Again!!!!

We stopped here passing through on our way to Cadillac. I ordered the classic Big Boy and it was excellent as usual. My wife had the soup and sandwich and loved it. The service was perfect.

Above average breakfast for $5.50, and have no complaints about the food or staff. I had 2 eggs, hash browns, pancakes, and toast. My usual. The breakfast buffet has gone up to $12.99 on the weekends and shocked me. I could have gotten two of everything and still saved money. Oh well.

I went to breakfast with my granddaughter on a Tuesday morning. We were promptly seated but from that moment on the service was terrible. My granddaughter's waffle was hard as a rock and syrup couldn't even make it edible! My eggs were ok. Asked for Frank's hot sauce when she brought the food but she never returned to the table! No refills on coffee and no creamer for the only cup of coffee I received! There were plenty of waitresses for the breakfast business so why the poor service and crappy food? Moral of the Story: I will never eat at Big Boy's-Cedar Springs again. I will support restaurants with hardworking employees that serves good food!

Wow, the best thing that I can say about this meal was the manager comped my part of the bill. I ordered fish and chips, it was still swimming in all the grease that was in the bottom of my basket. I wish I had taken a picture of it. After I took the soaked batter off, the inside was not even cooked properly. Still goo on the inside of the batter. Yuk, and there were people out in the parking lot who were working on their cars. Changing oil and one was jacked up, Really??

It too 6 minutes to be seated because everyone was standing around talking not paying attention. Then we got seated. Waitress was great. When we went to leave no one was at the counter to pay our bill.we waited and finally left our money on the counter & left.
