Big Chicken - Review - Galleria - Houston - The Infatuation

"Shaquille O’Neal opened his outsized chicken fast food spot in the Galleria area, which serves up sandwiches with fun names like “Shaq Daddy,” chicken strips, and sliders. Finally, a fried chicken spot that confirms the adage, “everything is bigger in Texas." - Chelsea Thomas

Shaquille O’Neal to Open Texas’s First Big Chicken Restaurant in Houston - Eater Houston

"NBA Hall-of-Famer Shaquille O’Neal is bringing his Big Chicken chain to Texas, and his first brick-and-mortar is slated for Houston’s Westchase area. Located in Woodland Square at 9660 Westheimer Road, Suite #250, near the El Tiempo on South Gessner Road, this Houston outpost of Big Chicken could open as early as the end of 2022 or early 2023, according to a spokesperson. But this location will certainly not be the last for Clutch City. The three co-owners Noordin Jhaver, Fazil Malik, and Frank Malik said in a statement that the outpost will be the first of many in the city to serve up chicken dishes and comfort foods — a fusion of O’Neal’s childhood favorites and popular eats today, including crispy chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, Cheez-It-crusted mac and cheese, and shakes. Some of Big Chicken’s signature items include a “Shaq Attack” chicken sandwich topped with pepper jack cheese, jalapeno coleslaw, and spicy chipotle barbecue sauce; the mac and cheese-loaded “Charles Barkley” with crispy fried onions and roasted garlic aioli; and “Dirty” fries that are covered in cheese, bacon, banana peppers, and chipotle barbecue sauce." - Brittany Britto Garley

Highly recommend! First time visited Big Chicken and pleasantly surprised with clean cozy environment, delicious crispy chicken and watermelon margarita. Codd salad & spicy caselaw were fresh & flavorful. Me & my bestie really enjoyed our lunch!

Good chicken strips and liked the sauces. The dirty fries were good but didn’t love the thinness. The Cobb salad was pretty good, but it was a salad. The cocktails looked really interesting but the mule wasn’t great. That all said I think we would definitely return for the strips and sauce plus we love us some Shaq.

Pretty good chicken! For it being my first time at Big Chicken, it was a pretty great experience! Overall had no issues during my visit. The employees were really nice and helpful. Inside was a complete bar set up - which is pretty cool. And not to mention, they have some games to pass the time. Tried their chicken tenders and the Ultimate chicken sandwich. Very impressed! A lot of places I’ve gone to usually have chicken that’s too breaded, but theirs wasn’t. Would definitely like to come again!

Let's see. The tenders were good. There's too much breading, and they're fried too hard. They do give you a nice serving for the $11 price (5 piece). Everything is sold separately. The flat fries were ok. The sauce was good. I really like the sweet Memphis sauce and the sweet Chipotle sauce. Those were really good. They need seasoning on the fries and change the shape. When I say flat, I mean the actual fry. THEY DO NOT SERVE WINGS OR CHICKEN PIECES(LEG, BREAST, WING). 🤦🏾‍♀️ Don't ask why they wasted money on the pics of the food on the counter. It's whatever. The manager needs customer service classes. I digress. The atmosphere was nice. I guess with Shaquille's personality, I thought it would shine thru his restaurant. It seems like someone else's place with his face on it.

Wasnt Bad but not the Best Chicken Sandwich. I had the Ultimate Biggest & Sloppiest along with the dirty fries. I was expecting the chicken patty to be a little thicker. The steak fries are a slender sliced thin version of steak fries, I really wish they were just the traditional cut steak fries. Food was seasoned and sauces compliment the food well. Worth a try and love the concept of Chicken & Mac & cheese on a sandwich together.

Quick Review - overall good food, and nice atmosphere. Priced a bit higher than it prolly should be for the food served as only real nitpick. Long Review- - Food - so the sandwiches are good sized, a bit bigger than Popeyes which has the biggest overall chicken sandwich for a fast service restaurant I have eaten at so far. The sandwiches though clock in at 9.00 and higher though. That said the sandwiches taste and size are great. I think they priced it a bit more than the taste covers but it's not grossly overpriced like Zaxby's for what you get. The sandwiches also have a good amount of variety for each type and are tasty. Atmosphere - the atmosphere in the restaurant I found nice. Definitely a casual place but it has a full bar in it. It's kinda like a country element themed sports place. It's pretty enjoyable overall. Service - when I went it was lunch time and fairly busy. Took about 8 minutes to get my order. Staff was quick and nice. They give out vibrating discs to let you know when your order is ready. Final thoughts - liked what I had and will definitely go again. It is about 1.00 or so a sandwich higher than the taste in my personal opinion. Overall a nice place to eat from time to time.

Visited Sunday during church hours , was not busy yet. I bought a kids meal , Shaq attack, and the slidders. Food was truly good and service was even better. Food was fresh and better than anticipated. My fries were perfect , although I have seen mixed reviews. The Shaq sauce is unique kind of BBQ tasting. Me and the family will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

My boyfriend took me here because he's had it on the cruise ship. He says it's different than the ship but still good. Good was welcoming and you good with suggestions on drinks and food. Everything was great. Will definitely be back. The atmosphere was really good.
