LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"We don’t know Big Daddy personally, but we respect how much beef and/or chicken shawarma he stuffs into his pita sandwiches. This kosher counter-service spot in Studio City also has turkey kabobs, ribeye, and falafel on the menu, which you can order in a stuffed pita, rolled in a wrap, or atop a salad." - sylvio martins

Amazing Experience – Highly Recommended! Absolutely loved this place! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how clean and fresh everything smelled. The service was outstanding – super friendly and attentive staff who made me feel right at home. The food was delicious, especially the shawarma – hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. If you’re in the area, this spot is a must-visit!

If you're craving flavorful, satisfying shawarma, this restaurant is a must-try. From the moment you walk in, the inviting aroma of spiced meats grilling over an open flame sets the stage for a delicious meal. The shawarma here is perfectly seasoned, with tender cuts of chicken, beef, or lamb wrapped in freshly made pita or flatbread. Each bite is a balance of juicy, well-cooked meat and a medley of toppings like crispy fries, fresh vegetables, and a creamy garlic sauce that ties everything together. The restaurant also offers a variety of sides, including hummus, salads, and warm, fluffy pita bread, all of which complement the main dishes beautifully. The portions are generous, and the quality is consistent. Whether you're dining in or getting takeout, the service is friendly and efficient, making for a great experience overall. The ambiance is casual but cozy, perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed meal with friends or family. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, making it a great value for the money. Overall, this shawarma restaurant offers an authentic taste of Middle Eastern cuisine with fantastic flavors, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for some delicious, comforting food.

Google
Everyone was so welcoming when I walked through the door! I ordered Arais and my bf had the turkey and chicken shawarma on laffa, the Arais was so amazing, packed full of flavor and definitely had me wanting more. The Shawarma was also amazing my bf said and was one of the best in LA. If you are looking for good food this is the place to be.

I found the lighting annoying. There's a single menu that's lit in a way that makes it difficult to read. I found the serving to be stingy. Big daddy didn't get big by coming to his own restaurant. I was there with the companion who thought everything was terrific. He blamed me for not following his advice, his food was plentiful, but he added a lot of the vegetables that freely accompany the meat dishes. Evidently when they say a skewer or something, Israelis mean it's a standing portion. My companion ordered a sandwich, and urged me to do the same, but I ordered a plate. I didn't answer the food question, because the stingy serving was delicious, but two small slices of meet just wasn't enough for me. Maybe it's just meant for smaller people; my companion who ordered the sandwich got a lot more meat than I did.

Google
Best Shawarma in LA probably best shawarma in USA. The lamb is so good every bite brings me back to Israel. The atmosphere at Big Daddy’s Shawarma is so chill great vibes. 100% recommend if you want insane shawarma!!!

Google
Hey Google, recommend this restaurant was very very tasty and also very good. The food was good. The Shawarma was good. I took a pizza plate very good thank you so much!

Yelp
I love this place! Food is really good. Nothing fancy just a place to have a quick meal. Finally a really good shawarma place in the valley. We came and got table service as opposed to ordering from the register and picking up your own food. This way they serve salads fries falafel and a huge plate of hummus to the table. Been there many times I recommend.

Yelp
The Best Shawarma that I've ever had I recommend doing the lamb on lafa. The place is clean Service is great

Yelp
Good food but ridiculously over priced for a mini pita shawarma wrap with 13 pieces of French fries. 44$ - 2 pita shawarma wraps with fries and 2 Coca Cola 13$ - 1 order of fried Moroccan cigar filled with beef and drizzled tahini $81.11

Yelp
Amazing shawarma Lamb and meet mix it was amazing!!! The toppings are so fresh and nice

Yelp
Hands down the best Shawarma in LA! Enough food to feed an army. I'm kosher and it's so hard to find delicious options. I love everything on the menu. Awesome spot. They do a great catering job too. Fresh vegetables grilled meats and then some. Must try kosher or not

Yelp
Order online. Delivery took 15 min, food was still hot ! Delicious mediterranean food. All was wrapped nicely so we could enjoy it, we will definitely order again.

Yelp
A very confusing restaurant with subpar food. Everything on the menu is well over $20, and while it makes sense since you get an entire plate of salad, fries, and pita, it was all undersalted and over seasoned (as in things were either far too sour, bitter, or overpowered in shwarma seasoning.) my kebab was strangely chewy and tasted of egg, making me wonder if it was impossible meat. I have this suspicion as the ticketing system seems confusing to the staff, they misread both of our orders and had to correct it, slowing down the service even more. The head chef came out and checked on us multiple times, but the restaurant seems to have no formal servers, as we had to flag down the cashiers 4 separate times for water. The utensils, cups, and condiments were placed behind the salad bar line, making them largely inaccessible. The head chef also recommended some type of spicy mango shwarma sauce to my elderly grandmother - of which I tried and was confusing to say the least. The restaurant itself was nosy and poorly lit, not in a way that is remotely welcoming. The staff and owner have a lot of tweaking to

Yelp
Just ordered here through Postmates and had 3 Shawarma plates delivered. Food was delicious and still hot! The fries were very good, as was the chicken which truly was authentic! No question definitely ordering from here again!
google avatar

Yelp
Really good Schwarma they also got drinks imported. Very authentic Israeli vibe. Very spicy if you get the right sauce.

Yelp
I was very excited about trying their shawarma, but something was missing. The place itself was big and spacious for dine in . But the flavors weren't right for me .

Yelp
Have gone back a few times. Really good if a bit expensive (but it's Glatt Kosher, and you get a ton of sides). But the food is delicious. Had everything (steak, shawarma, falafel, veggies, salad, fries) and was very happy with it. Also great for families. Went with my kids and they loved it!
google avatar

Yelp
Expensive and zero value for your $ Spent $41 For a meal that had Moroccan cigars and Israeli salad without dressing

Yelp
Decided to try this new shawarma place in Studio City. The food is average and expensive. The prices start at $22 for a shawarma sandwich and go up from there. I got a pita shawarma which came with fries and a drink. The drink was extra I think. Total $28. You pay at the counter and they give you a ticket to take to a buffet bar where they prepare the shawarma plate with some toppings of your choice. The fries were average and not even hot or crispy, kinda stale.. The meat was average. The quality of the meat was average. Service was nothing special, it's a cafeteria style place where you pick up your own food. The space was clean, but it's a brand new restaurant. I'm not sure where my money went. You can get a shawarma sandwich at any other place for half the price, even a combo for 30-40% less and better quality meat. We shall not return. As an added bonus, my wife immediately had diarrhea when we came back home after eating here. No, we won't be returning.

Yelp
Freshly made delicious food we tried beef shawarma that was great and their shnitzel that was excellent Definitely recommend this place service was also great

Yelp
Great shawarma ! Clean and tasty good service ! Large portions ! I eat there at least once a week and I never get tired of it.

Yelp
I've ordered from Big Daddy Shawarma through Uber Eats multiple times, and every single time, my order has been wrong. This has happened three times in a row now! They keep charging for laffa or baguette, but then send it in a pita instead because they apparently don't have what's listed. They don't follow any of the specific instructions you provide -- no customization is respected. On top of that, there's no communication or explanation from them. Honestly, if you still want to try their food, I suggest going in person, because ordering online seems like a complete mess. Very disappointing experience!

Yelp
Great food, excellent service. Staff was very welcoming and more than happy to assist in any way. Will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Big D S.

Yelp
Avi, please explain the idea behind offering a "student discount" during hours students are in school? Also, you have a two star review by someone who got sick from your food and your response is "come back for a free pita". Not really what a person whose wife got diarrhea from eating your food is probably wanting to hear. You are quite the restaurateur.
google avatar

Waxx M.

Yelp
Absolutely a rip off.. the prices are ridicules for what u get the portion are small and pricy the staff is rude and give you what they like and not what requested inside your sandwich or plate . App for $15 for one . Two people for lunch over $100 with soda (no alcohol) Outrageous! The place just opened and it's dirty the tables are sticky and dirty for the price you asking i would have extra staff on deck
google avatar

Tiffany G.

Yelp
I had the pargiot in a laffa and my friend had the Arayas. Everything was perfect. Flavors on point, generous portions, and still tastes amazing after 6 hours in the fridge when I finished the leftovers. Superb

Yelp
On our last day in LA we traveled to studio city to test the "newest" Israeli kid on the Shawarma block... #bigdaddyshawarma , no kid friendly portions so minime went with a chicken Shawarma in a pita, we had a choice between veal, lamb and chicken, we asked for a mix yet we're told they "only mix veal and chicken, not lamb".... ok... so lamb it was.... it was ok... the Lafa bread they make in house was not for our liking... too chewy and thick, felt like it took away from the taste of the meat.... but it is rare to find lamb Shawarma in the US so it was good to have the option....the kebbeh (originally Iraqi dish of stuffed and fried burgul (buckwheat i think?) Filled with lamb meet, onions and pine nuts was AMAZING!

Yelp
Very expensive for what you get. I ordered a shawarma and water, the bill came out to $31!! Shawarma is people's food/street food and price $31 is just unreasonable. Also, a tiny bottle of water was $5 or $6 ( like the bottles you get at Costco for $0.25). I was surprised by price and switched to cup of tap water. The already unfriendly attitudy cashier grumbled and said "fine". I commented that price took me back a little he just gave me more attitude. ‍
google avatar

AJ A.

Yelp
Lamb pita was good but it cost $26 before tax. This place is really expensive for a fast casual restaurant. Customer service was good though.
google avatar

Rom G.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place. This is one of the best Shawarma spots in Los Angeles. It took 1 min to get my food, good quality. Very clean restaurant. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. My recommended order: beef shawarma plate. They bake the bread in house. Very tasty. I'm definitely going back. I'll post pics next time :)
google avatar

Edan B.

Yelp
Service here is amazing, ladys at the front are so welcoming and nice. The owner is a great guy. I ordered a half lamb half chicken shawarma plate and OMG was this salty. French fries was drenched in salt and both types of shawarma was salty big time. The quality of meat and poultry is good but very fatty and oily. The shnitzel Sandwich was good. I never ever in the world paid for a plate with tax and no drink $38.00 this place is very overpriced. Never in my life paid at any certified kosher restaurant for shawarma these prices.

A. G.

Yelp
Hit or miss Great food, OK atmosphere, high prices (but you get the top quality). Yet it all depends who serves you. Some guys gives full portions, add extras etc. Then there is a tall Israeli young guy who has unfriendly vibe and gives you tiny portions, no add-ons and he asked me if I want French fries or not. Hell yeah, I want my French fries if I paid like $30 for my shawarma with drink. Who would say no? Anyway, it is included in order! I will buy again, but will avoid that server. Rest servers were great. Overall great food but need consistent generous and friendly customer service.

Tomer B.

Yelp
Food was amazing i felt like i was back at home The food came out super quick and their service is also top notch! Anyone who is in the mood for a good shwarma i would highly recommend them!
google avatar

Yelp
Very hard to justify the prices here. Came once alone and once with a group for lunch. I'm not even exaggerating when I tell you it cost us $80 per person for a few Shawarma plates and skewers to share with a bunch of lil salads. The bill was literally over $800!!...for a light lunch. They actually tried to tell us they used the fancy plates so it cost more. WTF. None of us have been back since.
google avatar

Vanessa R.

Yelp
I tried to call before I made this post but unfortunately the line was inactive. So I have to make this post. Very unhappy with my order for the price!!I ORDERED The lamb and turkey skewer for $45. Way overpriced for all the fat I received on my lamb skewer--there was no meat (see picture). The turkey skewer was fine. I was excited to try this place being that I'm a local. I was super hungry looking forward to a good meal, but the lamb skewer disappointed me. :(

Mehrak G.

Yelp
If you want good Palestinian food, this place is great. I just wish they actually acknowledged the type of food they are serving (Palestine). You order at the counter and add any yummy Arabic sides you want- a great place to grab something quick!
google avatar

Yelp
Very cool restaurant! Instantly reminded me of walking into a shawarma shop in Tel Aviv. My wife had pargiyot, which was mouthwatering, I had the chicken heart skewers. We also had the kube which was absolutely delicious. Service was akin to service in Tel Aviv. Come ready to spend and indulge!

Howard G.

Yelp
Good food. Fast service. Nice service staff (especially the young man who takes the orders and the gents who prepare the food). The price for all plate selections is on the high side.
google avatar

Steph E.

Yelp
Probably the best Shawarma in town! Big plates and laffas of salads, beef or chicken shawarma with all the good stuff that comes with it. Great service, large restaurant. Friendly staff. Definitely worth trying
google avatar

Roann Faith C.

Yelp
Wanted to give this place a try since it's down the street from our house. We love Mediterranean food so we had high hopes for this place! We ordered the Beef Shawarma and the Turkey Shawarma plate (since they ran out of chicken). The pricing was justifiable considering we are in Studio City, however, after trying the food we are utterly confused how they could charge $25 for a wrap and $30 for a plate. We couldn't even finish our Beef Shawarma and we left the Turkey untouched because it tasted like the meat was expired and there was ZERO flavoring. Lastly, woke up in the middle of the night to my boyfriend having explosive diarrhea WHILE throwing up at the same time!!!! It was a AWFUL!!!!!! We directed it back to the food we ate here since it was the only thing we had for dinner and the last thing we ate
google avatar

Rami G.

Yelp
I had Shawarma beef plate was moist and tasty.(not dry) the salads as well, fresh and tasty.

Yelp

Yelp
Great food, I come here almost every try day before work for the Pita. Definitely worth it, good atmosphere and amazing food.

Yelp
I live down the street, I go to the FedEx next-door for work almost daily so tonight I decided to walk in and order some food to go. I was overwhelmed with how kind, friendly, and welcoming everyone was. They gave me extra food, very sincere and earnest recommendations, and the food was great. It's a new spot, and I've been watching them set up over the past few months and it seems like a very nice family business which I'm always happy to support. I'll be back.
google avatar

Moe M.

Yelp
Eh not worth the price, quality wasn't that great either, better shawarma places in Sherman oaks and studio city to visit.

jonah h.

Yelp
Food was awful -- full of oil, came with no pita, had bad heartburn, and tasted like crap. $167 for 2 schnitzels and a meat shawarma and a few fries; wow. The customer service was horrific as well. The lady that answered the phone was not only rude, but unhelpful as well. I would give a rating less than "1" if it were possible. Do better!

Dermendzhyan S.

Yelp
This place was off the hook good. The chicken shawarma just melted in your mouth. It's a must try you won't regret it and the service was very good.
google avatar

Liz A.

Yelp
Wow we had a great experience at Big Daddy's, the lamb shawarma, which is a new menu item, was amazing. I had the shawarma plate with salads and fries and my husband had the Laffa. The staff was super friendly and the place was crazy busy. We will be going back very soon!
google avatar

Jane D.

Yelp
Terrible food and service. Owner makes fake reviews. We got food poisoning from the food.
google avatar

Nicolas C.

Yelp
Great new hidden gem. Great selection. Fresh ingredients and cooked on the spot. Definitely my new favorite place in Studio City. Super friendly staff and great service. Highly recommended. Plenty of free parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and great service. It's great to have a new kosher restaurant in the area with fresh high-quality food. I definitely recommend it.
google avatar

Brigitte B.

Yelp
Had one of the best beef shawarma's! It was juicy, tasteful and filling. The sides I got were so delicious too. As soon as I walked in all the staff were so welcoming and explained the process of getting the food and gave great recommendations. I'm glad I made the choice of getting the beef shawarma. There was a great vibe too which I think is very important in my opinion. The combination of the great food, vibe, cleanliness and great staff, I'll definitely be going again real soon.

Edgar A.

Yelp
Best Shawarma in Los Angeles, will definitely comeback. I give 5 Stars .........................

Yelp
Big Daddy Shawarma is a really great place for a quick and delicious lunch or dinner! The food is always cooked to perfection, it's always fresh, tasty, and the large portions always satisfy my hunger. What stands out the most is the cleanliness of the place, which to me is the most important thing of all. Another good point to mention is the staff, they are warm, welcoming, and very generous, which adds a personal touch to every visit. If you're in the mood for authentic Israeli food that is the place to visit. I can't recommend it highly enough--Big Daddy Shawarma is a keeper!
