Big Delicious Planet catered our dinner party for 35 at the Publishing House, and working with the team was delightful from start to finish. Jasmine was exceptionally responsive and patient with our many detailed questions and requests, including a few last-minute changes. She coordinated accomodations to make sure all guests with unique dietary needs received delicious meals. One even commented that they appreciated getting nearly the same meal as everyone else. The tablescape looked beautiful with florals, candles, and printed menus and name cards. The staff was professional and welcoming to all our guests. The food was delicious with lovely presentation. The logistics were thought out and executed well. Thank you, Jasmine and team!

My husband and I got married this summer and had the pleasure of having BDP cater our wedding at Harold Washington Library. As most people know, planning a wedding can be stressful :). I don't think I would have survived without the help of Jasmine, Chelsey and the wonderful BDP team throughout the process. BDP goes above and beyond expectations for a wedding caterer. Their attention to the details and dedication to quality is what sets them apart from others. There is no one like them in the biz. From our thoughtful tasting that felt like a private dinner, to our final walk through, I will never run out of good things to say about BDP. I recommend them to every couple I know getting married. The food is DELICIOUS. We had guests coming up to us left and right saying “Who catered your wedding? The food tastes like we’re eating at a nice restaurant, nowhere near ‘typical’ wedding food we usually have!” I can’t wait to use BDP through more milestones in life. From the tasting to the day of the wedding everything was smooth. The food, Oh my the FOOD!! It was top tier. Our guest could not get enough. Chelsey was nothing short of amazing. From the minute we inquired she was so attentive and kind. BDP provided us with the most detailed proposal and happily swapped items out to create the amazing menu we had at our wedding. When we had an our tasting, Chelsey created personalized menus with our names, details that made the experience a cherished memory, we felt so special! BDP was on frequent communication with us and always answered our questions promptly. We loved touring the farm at BDP, it really made us feel like we made the right vendor selection for catering. We love farm to table and they really emphasize how they grow and source locally. On the actual wedding day, BDP staff and Chelsey exceeded our expectations. Every person we talked to was so kind and genuine. They brought us our specialty cocktails and appetizers to the bridal suite right after our ceremony, and let us have a sneak peak of the room reveal before dinner service. We got married in September of 2023 and we are so happy we chose BDP as our wedding venue. From the start, Chelsey and Anilee were responsive and helpful. They were easy to talk to and also incredibly accommodating. It made the whole wedding process that much smoother. Not only do they have a remarkable team, but the venue itself is a magical oasis. There is no other place like it in the city. The team does such a great job at maintaining the property and I love how resourceful and environmentally friendly they are. Having our wedding there was an absolute dream. Being surrounded by nature and eating food from their garden was so special. All of the staff there on our wedding day were so kind, helpful and made sure we had the perfect day. They even took our wedding cake inspo and made it better than we expected! It was not only beautiful, but absolutely delicious! Thank you again BDP for cultivating such a wonderful environment and for helping us have the wedding of our dreams. We can’t wait to be back!

2024: Here for the Summer Urban Farm Dinner Series on a lovely evening. Passed apps, 2 dinner buffet areas featuring greens and meats, dessert, 2 open bars with wine and season cocktails. Sunscreen even available! DJ playing great beats, friendly people… Here for a special event Green City Market Sustainable Supper. Well plated, multi course plant based meal with meat option and dessert. Food, service, wine was all very good. The business has won multiple awards for sustainable practices, day cantina, great event space and accessible rest area.

As a wedding photographer, I hope that every single inquiry I get is for Big Delicious Planet. Their intimate venue space is something out of a dream. You are truly transported out of the city when entering their stunning urban farm oasis. It's magical. And the food is hands down some of the best in the city. I'm always astounded by their creativity and innovation when it comes to what they serve and cater. Every morsel tastes as good as it looks! No one cares more about this place than the staff. You can feel the heart + soul that is poured into BDP. There is an unwavering passion from every team member. Everyone *loves* what they do, and it definitely shows. This especially goes for the owner, Heidi. She not only takes great care in ensuring that every client who hires her company (whether it's for catering or the venue) is getting the best of the best service + product possible, but she also is constantly setting up her staff for success. In one instance, when a few of her kitchen staff were unable to come to work for personal reasons, she was actually IN the kitchen assisting the head chef. You rarely see an owner having this kind of hands-on approach, and I was so impressed. I am so lucky to have developed both a professional and personal relationship with BDP. I look forward to photographing many more weddings + events at this beautiful place. I always leave with my heart + my belly at full capacity!

This summer garden series was on my summer bucket list. My friend and I were not disappointed. Upon arrival we received a delicious welcome drink. No idea what it was called, but was something created for the evening topped with a flower. For cocktail hour we walked around the garden and ate 4 different appetizers. One so good I am going to attempt to make it at home. Once we sat down for dinner the course started with salad and house made focaccia. Dinner was family style serving and included a seafood item (halibut), plate of mixed grilled veggies (zucchini's, eggplants, peppers, and tomatoes), a pasta, and a steak tenderloin. Dessert was a peach and tomato galette with whipped cream. **We opted to take home some honey and others at our table did the bag of veggies. I will for sure do this dinner again next year with more friends.

We went during the summer for a Barbie themed dinner and it was 100/100! We had the time of our lives dining outside with great cocktails, food, company, and Barbie's! We all dressed up in honor of Barbie and it was a riot. One of the members got a free bottle of sparkling for the "best dressed Barbie" and it was so fun! I love how everything is farm to table and everything is made in house. The farm is phenomenal and I loved how organic and delicious it was. They have different theme dinners throughout the year and I'll definitely be coming back!

The Wednesday Big Delicious garden dinners are not at all worth the $200 price tag. The food was mediocre at best and was served cold. Specifically the trout was hammered (i.e. hard and dry) and inedible. I'm sure they are a decent wedding caterer. But that's all the food is - it's wedding food. There weren't enough appetizers to go around and wine wasn't refilled generously. The waiters prioritized having the food to be photographed by the photographer over serving guests. I literally had to fight a crowd to get a single oyster. It makes sense though - the very first question asked by multiple staff members including Heidi the owner was 'how did you hear about us'. Instagram was usually the answer, so it's clear what their customer acquisition strategy is. First priority is making everything instagrammable and second priority is guests. Also it was my bday and nothing was done to make it a more special experience for me. While many people were celebrating, it would've been nice to get some sort of personal touch given how much we paid for the dinner. You're better off spending the same amount for a Michelin tasting menu.

Big Delicious Planet Urban Farm Dinners are back! The lush garden in a Chicago urban setting is like a hidden oasis. You are welcomed by the owner, Heidi, and her team that has curated a special menu. Each theme is centered around a special theme. We have been attending these urban dinners for the past 3 years and just love the personalized touches. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted with a Rose Colored Glasses, a seasonal rhubarb cocktail and the Golden Glow, a a tequila turmeric basil mixer, which was a great refresher. Appetizers were served liberally. The borscht croquette had a nice mix of crunch with a smooth beet, carrot, shallot and chive filling. The scallops were yum! The Aubergine was fresh and and pleasing to the eye. We continued to enjoy our evening sitting underneath a beautiful pergola and surrounded but the lush garden. A family style meal consisting of a kale and beet salad, warm rolls and flavored butter, braised short ribs, gnocchi, and seasonal vegetables. The sole was good but I would have to say my favorite from BDP is their branzino. I enjoyed the preparation more than the sole. The Granita was such a nice ending to freshen the palate at the end. I would have loved this in between the serving of the short ribs and sole. I do realize that BDP elevates their menu each time and this is more of a picky wish list and a selfish need for another dessert! Great wine pairings to the meal. If you haven't tried BDP, you're missing out!

Omg! Why have I not known about this place!!! I was invited to my god daughter's wedding that was held here. I had no idea this place existed. When I entered I was amazed! It was an outdoor wedding and it was beautiful! I felt I was in the garden of Eden. You feel like you're in Tuscany. I can't explain how gorgeous and unbelievable it looked. It was a small, intimate wedding. This place grows their own vegetables, flowers; everything there. It's an urban farm so the food was fresh and so delicious! I've never had a meal at any wedding that was so good. Actually the food was one of the best meals I've eaten compared to some of the best restaurants I've been to. I'm so happy I was able to experience this wonderful event. I'll never forget it.

Review for the farm dinner, not the catering specifically. This dinner was fantastic! Abundant and delicious food (family style), great folks, lovely setting. Not a cheap experience, but really fun and well-executed.

I used BDP to drop-off cater an event on the second floor of a local hotel. They did an excellent job! - Communication prior to the event was quick and thorough - Their electronic payment and documentation systems are efficient - The price was reasonable - The delivery was on time, and it went smoothly. The delivery person supplied his own cart and no detail was overlooked: they provided the serving utensils, diningware, and placards - The servings were generous - The food looked and tasted great

Our "big" wedding was pushed to 2021 due to Covid We planned our mini-mony (19 people) in less than a month. Chelsey was extremely helpful through the entire process! The menu was on point, the custom cocktail and mood board for the decor created a very personalized and special feeling to the day. I am very detailed oriented and particular and I did not see the venue until about 15 minutes before I walked down the aisle and I was never concerned about everything meeting my expectations! Everything for our event was absolutely perfect! The table was beautifully decorated according to our color palette, guests were appropriately spaced to meet the Covid requirements, everyone always had a drink in their hand and the staff was incredible! The BDP team was attentive but not overbearing, extremely personable and engaging with us and the guests. Everyone loved them!! I am a foodie and love to dine out and the food was amazing! No one left hungry and we had a couple of picky eaters. Having the entree duo really helped to make sure that everyone had an entree that they liked and most of us had two that we loved;) The customized drink and wine selections were excellent as well! We also had the team make a wedding cake and my only regret is that I didn't get to enjoy more of it! We had plenty of cake to take home but everything else was sooo good that I didn't have a lot of room left:) We also added jars of BDP honey and jam for our guest to take home. The honey is so yummy and I am not really a honey fan on its own....it is unlike any other honey that I have ever had (not too sweet) and our guests gave it rave reviews as well! We will buying more if it is available. Even though we still have our "big" wedding next year, if our intimate celebration at BDP planet was the only one, I would be completely satisfied! Our event was intimate, personal, unique and truly memorable. We would recommend BDP, the team and venue to anyone! Even though we now live primarily outside of Chicago, we can't wait to return to BDP!

I attended a wedding here and was blown away by everything- the space, the employees, the food, and the concept. It was so charming to be amidst their garden and be offered appetizers featuring ingredients they grew, then sit down for dinner highlighting more ingredients from their garden. This was definitely the best dinner I've ever had at a wedding. I would recommend this spot for weddings, events, dinners, catering- anything!

Jasmine and the team at BDP helped us plan the most amazing and beautiful wedding menu! From signature cocktails to the farm-to-table meal, everything was impeccable. Jasmine worked with us to create tablescapes that were beyond what we could've envisioned - we were told several times that it looked straight out of a magazine. And it didn't just look good, everything was absolutely delicious. They had great attention to detail and even packed up a box of macarons for us to take home since we were on the dance floor when dessert was served. Overall the process was easy and intuitive, and we highly recommend BDP!

BDP did a great job at our wedding at Firehouse Chicago in August. We were hooked after the first tasting. I agree with all the positive things other's have said. BDP allowed us to get creative with the menu and make it personal. The quality, taste, and presentation were all fulfilled. The reason for dinging a star is that communication could be improved. Similar to another reviewer, we had to repeatedly ask for the updates to be made to the proposal and had to point out whenever numbers or times were off -- this was stressful, required a lot of back and forth, and led to multiple email threads that were hard to keep track of. There were other things here and there that were also missed, like they said they'd show us a draft of the menu before printing it, but never did. If you're having a wedding in August then humidity may influence your menu. For example, we had a food station outside for cocktail hour and it got swarmed by flies. Also, even though dinner was inside with air conditioning, the meringue desserts were soggy and our cake was melting with the cake toppers sliding out.

Jasmine and the BDP team were incredible! The food was amazing and we received so many compliments saying it was the best food people have eaten at a wedding. They were organized, timely, and always nice. I highly recommend using them for your wedding/event!

BDP made me look like a hero with our production crew. They catered four weeks worth of dinners for our project and we never had the same meal twice. The food is delicious! The first question everyone would ask when walking into work is, "What's for dinner?" BDP bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. I can't say enough good things about their food, Annilee and Jasmine's communication and the happy faces we'd see after dinner was finished.

My husband and I got married at the BDP urban farm which accommodates smaller groups for private events. I cannot say enough good things about them. The venue was beautiful, the staff was amazing, everyone was so lovely to interact with, and the food was incredible. They made planning our event SO easy and everything turned out beautifully. We love BDP!

I could not have been more happy with the job Big Delicious Planet did catering our wedding. Not only was I told by multiple guests that the meal they had was the best food they've ever had at a wedding, but everything was presented beautifully, the staff was fantastic in both the planning stages as well as the day of and their cocktails were excellent. I could not recommend them more highly, especially if you have a lot of vegetarian or vegan guests, which they were very accommodating for. If you're getting married in Chicago you want to put an emphasis on going local, whether it is going to be the vegetables on your plate, or the beer you drink, I would definitely recommend Big Delicious Planet.

Big Delicious Planet catered our September wedding, and I cannot speak highly enough of them. We had an incredible menu planning and tasting with Grace, final adjustments and walkthrough with Chelsey, and a delightful team of BDP staff working day of. Everyone was on point, the food and drinks were perfect, and the warmth and energy of every single member of BDP made them such a pleasure to work with. They are amazing!

Overall, we had a fabulous experience with BDP at our wedding. We were looking for simple, high-quality, fresh food and they absolutely delivered. They made the event planning process and execution an absolute breeze - even with a handoff from one lead to the other, we had fabulous customer service. Jasmine took us to the finish line - and was such a pleasure to work with. We were able to coordinate multiple tastings and provide as much input into the final menu as we liked - tweaking certain components of dishes, etc. - which we really valued. Jasmine was accommodating, made great suggestions, and went above and beyond when special requests/needs popped up. The food on the day of was fabulous. We served food family-style, and my only point of critical feedback was that the food ended up trickling out pretty slowly. Instead of delivering multiple dishes to a single table so they had a full, multi-course meal at a single point, all tables sat with a single dish for a long time. If I were to do it all over again, I'd ask BDP to serve a single table all the dishes on the menu at one time and then move on to the next table, so people could eat their main with sides instead of it feeling like multiple courses. I'd also consider potentially adding more staff. I'm SURE they would accommodate, as they always are open to all suggestions. All in all, I would 100% recommend you go with BDP for your wedding!

My brother introduced me to this secret lunch spot. People just think it's catering but they are a coffee shop, breakfast, and lunch stop. They have a hot bar, when I was their I had their tacos and my friend grabbed a turkey sandwich from their hot bar. I would recommend their hot bar and their soups the turkey sandwich fell short with soggy bacon and the balsamic pasta salad sauce was too strong for my pallet. The interior of this cute little cafe is wonderful and clean. The tables have cute little plants on the tables. The back room where the bathrooms are located is huge and has a lot of natural lighting, you can see a glimpse of where they do all their work. The bathrooms are also clean and they offer organic lotions and different organic toiletries, which is a nice touch. They have their own garden next to the restaurant where they grow their own herbs and veggies. Fast casual setting perfect for a quick lunch during work.

You should have been able to make more than 200 meals for hungry for the $5000 non-refundable deposit from the young couple that decided to use that money to feed people. Where is your humanity?

Seriously loved! We booked BDP for our wedding on 11/2/19 at Greenhouse Loft. The food was incredible, all of our guests complimented us. We did Mexican style and a bunch of mini deserts. The tasting we did with them was great and they took all our feedback and incorporated it - adding spices, creating signature drinks, etc. We worked with Grace, she was amazing! So organized and responsive. She was so on top of everything each step of the way and on the day of - from the timeline for the day to the set up. She worked with us to figure out which signs we would provide and which ones BDP would. On the day of everything looked beautiful - for the things that I specified it was set up exactly as I asked. And there were a few things that BDP arranged/set up that I didn't really give direction for and BDP made it look incredible. Grace/BDP coordinated so much between all the vendors and made everything go so smoothly. They also worked really well/closely with Greenhouse Loft. Highly recommend!

OMG I LOVE BDP! BDP catered our wedding and we were SO happy with everything! We worked with Christen and she's a total ace - organized, nice, super responsive to email...oh and she is an insanely talented calligrapher who did all of our signs! The food - oh my god. So delicious. We had a cocktail style - mini bite wedding reception. The table presentations were great, and everything was super tasty. Our guests were raving! Can't recommend this caterer enough - they don't nickle and dime for stupid things like fork price, as you see with other caterers in Chicago. Willing to work with your budget, great staff - and best of all - everything is locally supplied or grown! Book BDP!!!

We had such a wonderful experience working with BDP for our wedding day. From the start, our tasting was so much fun and Grace was so helpful in walking us through what we could have on our wedding day and explaining the process to us. Any questions we had or changes we wanted to make were so promptly answered and completed, we never stressed or worried about our catering. Grace came to our final walkthrough at Greenhouse Loft and helped guide us on choices for the day and made us feel at ease and excited about the choices we had already made. On the wedding day, they did such an amazing job with decor and setup, even adding little details I had no idea would be there, like taking our pattern from our invitations into signs for the food and guest book table! It looked incredible. Every guest we have spoken to said it was the best wedding food they ever had. We agree! We actually got to eat a little bit of everything at the wedding and it was just as amazing as it was at our tasting! Our food was for sure a highlight of the night for us and our guests.

When we were facing a second wedding postponement due to the pandemic, my partner and I had resigned to a simple courthouse ceremony but a friend shared BDPs site and their offering made us consider a micro wedding in lieu of our original larger destination wedding plans. After our first meeting, we were impressed with the outdoor space and charm of the lush green space. Also, their tiered package options making planning much easier was a huge plus for us. We had already planned a wedding and didn't want to go through the exhaustion again. Yet, we were able to ensure entree options for our guests and customized cocktail and cocktail options as well. We worked with Grace who made the planning experience seamless all within two months. Looking back, we're still reeling from how beautifully decorated the venue was to how delicious all of the food and drinks were. Weeks after the wedding our family and friends are still complimenting the food and beauty of the space. We can't thank BDP enough for the seamless planning, accommodations, clear communication and making the execution look so effortless. Grace was such a great, trustworthy partner through the process. We were so excited and impressed from our initial meeting and the final event was exactly what we had hoped for. BDP's staff on the wedding day was also very kind, professional, and made all of our guests feel welcomed. We would recommend BDP for anyone considering an intimate venue for their event.

Big Delicious Planet catered my wedding and they were absolutely amazing. The mac & cheese was probably the #1 hit of the night. We had a Parks & Rec themed wedding and the catering staff got so into it, it was perfect. They also went out of their way to create custom signage and even added some bud vases and herbs to my decor. All for no additional charge. Not only were they wonderful on my actual wedding day, Grace, their catering wedding event coordinator, was a joy to work with on the months leading up to the wedding. From specialty cocktail tastings to vendor walk throughs, she was incredible at being responsible, professional, and upbeat. I hope they aren't sick of us because we cannot wait to go back to the canteen and hit up their summer food series.

Do you want your guests to leave raving about the food? Choose Big Delicious Planet. Excellent food was a big priority for us as a couple, and BDP delivered. We chose a non-traditional menu of family-style tacos and even had guacamole on the tables when our guests entered the reception venue. We cared a lot about providing vegetarian options that were just as delicious as the meat options, and BDP nailed that as well. (Their corn and fingerling potatoes option as well as their grilled veggies were to die for, and these are not normal favorites of mine! (Legit, I wish I knew how to make veggies as well BDP.) We were impressed with the food during our tasting, and executed to scale (we had 130 guests) the food was just as delicious as the tasting. All the individuals we coordinated with at BDP, from Christen to Chelsey, were prompt with replies and detail-oriented. We felt in good hands with the team! I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again for any future events. We also felt that the price was incredibly fair, especially given the quality of the food. SO many guests complimented the food after the fact, and I'm so glad we went with BDP.

I do not recommend doing business with this company. After making the difficult decision to postpone our 2021 wedding due to the pandemic, we reached out to BDP to try to work with them to reschedule our event. Per the contract we signed, and our empathy for wedding vendors during this time, we understood that there would be a fee associated with rescheduling. After first being dismissed, that our worries about the pandemic affecting our wedding were unfounded, we were told that in order to keep a Saturday date in a prime month (like we had originally scheduled) the rescheduling fee would be an overwhelming 50% of our total cost - an additional $8,000. In addition, there would be a unilateral price increase of 12% to food and beverage costs for all 2022 dates. In order to stay anywhere near our original budget, we would have to completely replan the wedding to a weekday in the winter. We were forced to choose between losing our deposit of over $3k, or losing an additional $8k+. We can't help but feel like BDP is taking advantage of the pandemic by forcing us to forfeit what we have already paid because we can't afford to pay their unreasonable fees. Our other vendors have been grateful and understanding that we are prioritizing the safety of their staff and our guests and we have been happy to pay reasonable fees to keep up with their 2022 rates. BDP clearly does not share those values nor that respect for their clients. Edit: The "150 dates" that were available without a rebooking fee (but still with a 12% price increase) were mostly weekdays, in the winter - months during which the locally grown food from the urban farm, a large draw for this company, would be unavailable.

My company has had BDP cater for a couple of events and the food is always delicious and presented beautifully!!

I don't even know where to begin, so I will start off by saying, if you are looking for someone to caterer your wedding or event, you should stop looking and book BDP NOW. I got married 7/28/2018 and booked BDP to caterer our wedding back in February 2017. We got married at Salvage One, and they only work with a small list of caterers for their weddings. I honestly think my eyes went directly to BDP, so we contacted them before contacting anyone else. My husband is a chef, so I kind of let him take the reigns on this one. He was blown away by not only the food, but the philosophy BDP stands by, and I couldn't agree more. We worked with Chelsey throughout the planning process, and to be honest, she was more like a coordinator than anything. I, like most brides, have never been through this process before, and did not have a wedding planner to guide me. Chelsey was amazing to work with while planning, and an angel for me on the actual day of. I did not need to worry about ANYTHING, she and her team had it all covered. By all covered, I mean EVERYTHING. They took care of all the signage, table numbers, decorations, specialty cocktails, extra rentals, you name it. I think at one point, I remembered I had a small box of little decorations (programs/favors/etc) to have my bridesmaids put out the day of my wedding, and before I even realized it, Chelsey and her team already had it all set out. I didn't get a chance to chat with the staff (a lot), but the moments I had just felt genuinely nice, and thats something I will always remember. I'm not sure how many people hear on their wedding day, and the days/weeks after by almost ALL of their guest, how amazing the food was. I think most people don't expect to really enjoy food at weddings (which is so sad), and people are still talking about their gouda Mac and cheese and fried chicken with in house made honey to this day. I believe our wedding would not have run as smoothly as it did, had we not booked with BDP. I will continue to recommend BDP to all my bride clients, friends, and family for weddings and events in the future.

BDP catered our wedding in May 2019 and from our very first interactions with them we knew that they were going to be rock stars. From the very beginning, we were wicked impressed with their attention to detail and how they worked to understand our vision by incorporating culinary aspects of our hometowns and tastes. We were blown away by the incredible spread they prepared for us at our tasting. Some of their bites were literally the tastiest things we had ever had the pleasure of eating. It was great having a chance to chat with both the chef and our coordinator, Grace, about the menu, what would be in season, and the types of dietary restrictions we anticipated for our guests. BDP was happy to accommodate our vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free guests and build a menu that had options for any type of taste. Through it all, BDP went above and beyond to take all of this into consideration. When it came to our actual wedding they did everything perfectly, especially when it came to the details. They organized plates of snacks and drinks for our wedding party before the ceremony and made sure that servers found me and my wife after the ceremony and during the cocktail hour to make sure we had a bite to eat and a drink in our hands. Every single one of our guests raved about the food and said it was some of the best food they had ever had at a wedding. We were worried, because of course the tasting would be great, but who is to say that a caterer can then do 200 meals at that same quality. BDP can and did! The BDP team is so warm and friendly, eager to work through the details, and goes above and beyond to make sure everything goes perfectly. We loved working with Grace and BDP, and we cannot recommend them highly enough as a caterer.

I worked with BDP on my company's holiday party - obviously the biggest and most important party of the year! Grace was so incredibly helpful. I've never planned any sort of event this size and she had the best advice, and was so patient with my never ending questions! BDP was incredibly accommodating to some last minute changes and special dietary restrictions. The night of the party everything was flawless (and we had a lot of people with an eye for flaws). I had planned on setting up all the flowers I brought in the night of - but the BDP staff quickly took over and finished it up for me. Everything was set up perfectly, the service was fantastic, and the food was delicious! A beautiful evening, I cannot thank BDP enough.

We used Big Delicious Planet for our October 2017 wedding, and couldn't have asked for a better caterer! We received compliments all night (& after) on how the delicious the food was (still dreaming of those rosemary smashed potatoes and the salmon). Grace was so easy to work with and was a perfect partner in managing all the details of the reception. Her and her team went above and beyond to help set-up the space and ensure everything was ready in time. They also provided complimentary calligraphy -- which was SO stunning! Of the very few issues that arose during the reception, all of them were quickly resolved by BDP. Thank you Grace + the BDP team! You rocked it!

We had BDP cater our July 2017 wedding at Salvage One. BDP had extremely reasonable prices and I felt like we got a lot for our money - almost 2x as much as compared to other caterers I got proposals from in Chicago. All of their food is local/sustainable and mostly organic -- things that are hugely important to me. BDP also went above and beyond for us. We did not have a "Day Of" coordinator and because of Christen and BDP, we didn't need one. Christen arranged the donuts we ordered from Stan's on a beautiful server, she created a chalkboard welcome sign and also created cute signs labeling all the food items and made sure our special coasters were at each place setting. All of our guests loved the food and appetizers; I am still getting compliments on everything. The only reason I am deducting a star is for slow email communication we experienced. When I first reached out to BDP for catering info I had to reach out to them after a month had passed to follow up. I thought this was unusual since every other vendor (catering, flowers, venues, etc) we emailed would send us something back within 24 hours. Then it took awhile to get a proposal and then another while to set up a tasting time. It was also frustrating at times to have to ask more than once for an updated proposal as my finace and I went back and forth making tweaks to the menu after our tasting and we also had to ask them multiple times to charge our credit card with the final balance. My suggestion to them would be to give their employees email addresses instead of making people use their general weddings@bdp address. However, I would still recommend them to anyone else looking for a caterer. Their food quality and prices are outstanding and I truly enjoyed working with every person on their staff.

So, so happy with BDP! Big Delicious Planet catered my wedding in December 2015, and my wife and I were absolutely blown away by the experience and the quality they provided. From tasting to saying goodnight at the end of the event, everything went smoothly, and was truly delicious. They were on the preferred venders list at our venue, and for good reason. Some notes: - Christen was amazing, and really helped us plan out everything from start to finish. She was with us from the very beginning of the process, and was wonderful all the way through. She listened to what we wanted and what budget we were trying to stay within, was extremely kind and communicative, and was quick to help with any question or concern. She was there the day of the wedding to make sure everything went as it should have, and it did! - The food is incredible. There's no other word for it. When we went in for our tasting, we were blown away by the sheer number of options we tried (all of which were so good!) and were able to pick out the things that we wanted to go with. We elected to have buffet style dinner, which was great since so many people wanted to head up for seconds and thirds! They are a very eco-friendly company, and grow a lot of their own veggies, which is really cool. Their options are unique and different from the regular beef/chicken/fish you might find at a wedding; clever twists on classics, and amazing taste on every single crumb. I can't even count how many people complemented the food for months after the wedding - we were anticipating a pretty decent amount of leftovers to bring home, but we had NONE! Everyone loved and devoured everything. - On the day of the wedding, everything went flawlessly. The crew was great and the bartenders friendly and fast. All of our decorations and centerpieces ended up exactly as planned, the physical transition between ceremony and dinner was quick and amazing, and Christen herself checked up on us numerous times throughout the night to make sure things were going as we had hoped. They definitely were. All in all, we were so pleased with BDP from the word go. Great people, great food, and a really great experience.

We used Big Delicious Planet for our wedding in Oct 2017. They were fantastic, professional, courteous in every way. And their food was delicious! I come from a family of caterers, so definitely had to impress with the food at our wedding. I have been working with BDP for YEARS, they do amazing corporate catering, and honestly, they make my life SO EASY! They have wonderful seasonal menus, and they are so nice and friendly. Their presentation is fantastic, and I will continue to use them for as long as I'm in this business!

BDP recently catered for my wedding and everything was fantastic! When we first reached out, Heidi and Leah were quick to respond to our questions and help us set up a tasting. Once we completed the tasting, there was no doubt that BDP was the caterer for us. They have a wide variety of menu choices, competitive pricing and the food is simply incredible. Throughout the planning process, they were easy to get in touch with and always on top of what needed to be done. On the day of, things were executed perfectly and all of our guests came away from the wedding talking about how excellent all of the food was. We couldn't have been happier with our choice to use Big Delicious Planet for our wedding day.

My husband and I are thrilled that Big Delicious Planet catered our wedding in June. We knew we were going to use BDP from the day we met Grace at The Canteen and noticed first hand how much care this company puts into its food. She gave us a tour of their urban farm and we love that they grow so much produce themselves and we appreciate the focus on local and seasonal food. We decided to go with a "Displayed Heavy Hors D'Oeuvres Buffet" and highly recommend this concept to anyone looked for a contemporary, sophisticated, and relaxed dinner for their wedding. Between the fresh salad, flatbreads, chicken, and the most incredible pasta salad you've ever tasted, our guests were full but ready to party! They even made sure we had enough gluten-free and vegan options to work with any guest's dietary needs. Their passed appetizers were fantastic (you've got to try a BLT cherry tomato!), the meat and cheese board was all the glory you'd expect if you follow BDP on Instagram, and we even had BDP make our wedding cake - an Angel Food Cake with whipped cream and fruit compotes that was like sinking your teeth into a cloud. Perfection! This company knows what they're doing and their event coordinators are professional, quick to respond, fun, and kind. Thank you Chelsey and BDP for making our wedding the event of our lives!

I have not ordered from here but we had it for a meeting I attended. The meeting was in our offices so I was there to receive the food. The guy showed up and set everything up. He even brought a table cloth so that the table the food was on would not get damaged. LOVE THAT. The menu for the meeting was: Salad Brisket Mashed potatoes Veggie pot pie Green beans Bread Brownies and Banana Pudding. The best things were the brisket, potatoes and the banana pudding. The brisket fell apart when you picked it up with the tongs. It was so tender and juicy, we couldn't stop talking about it. The mashed potatoes went perfectly with that delicious brisket. This was the first time I've tried banana pudding and I am so lucky it was with Big Delish. It was so amazing, all the layers.... makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Also, they came and cleaned everything up! LOVE THAT TOO!

BDP did the catering for our wedding this Fall. Christen and Grace were delightful to work with. The BDP staff was responsive, patient, and understanding with our many questions and requests. Our guests LOVED the family style dinner and our cake. Christen attended our final walk-through and helped set up day-of decor. Our entire experience with BDP was wonderful; we would highly recommend them!

This is a bastion in a largely industrial zoned area. The food is good, the staff is always friendly, and the location, while off of the beaten path, is clean and welcoming. They have put a lot of thought into their menu. It is not particularly cheap in terms of price, however, the price is well worth it for the quality and freshness of the food one eats! An aggressive social media campaign and this place would probably have people swinging from the rafters!

BDP catered two screenings I did on consecutive days in Chicago and did an impeccable job both times. The food was a huge hit with everyone who attended and what I was able to try before it disappeared was fresh and delicious. I would absolutely book them again!

BDP catered my wedding at the end of September. They were very accommodating, especially for a place with such amazing food. We weren't very picky about things (my wife is the opposite of a bride-zilla) but I get the feeling that it would not have been a problem even if we were. Christen was our liaison and was prompt, responsive, easy-going, and easy to communicate with. She's pretty cool. Could be considered a bit pricey compared to some other caterers in Chicago, but it's well worth the money. Christen was also very good at working things into our budget range. Everything they served at the tasting we loved, and we were sad to have to cut down the choices for the actual wedding (it just would've been too much food!) Wedding day went swimmingly. We had some last minute requests for setting up chairs/tables for our parents and they didn't miss a beat. I felt like I had the support of everyone on the BDP team. Our guests raved about the food. It's "easy" to make delicious meat options-- but they really knocked it out of the park with the veggie options. Had a lot of carnivores say that they were genuinely impressed with the veggie options, and all the vegetarians present were in food heaven. The spread was beautiful and delicious! I definitely recommend BDP for not just weddings but any kind of catering.

We hosted a pre-Thanksgiving lunch for our hard working employees and it was FANTASTIC!! BDP was everything I hoped it would be and more. The food was delicious and plentiful. We look forward to using them again!

I've had the creations of this catering company a few times now, at various events around town, and the food and beverages are always largely delicious (though I would say the cute, petite finger foods are thankfully not "big and delicious"!) You get service with a smile, and plates are artfully arranged. I love the (forgive me for screwing up the name) beet layer bites. They are one of those things that is just so beautiful you want to stare at it, but then ultimately your stomach wins out and there are absolutely no regrets. Five stars. Hire them, do it!

I hired BDP for a work event with upwards of 100 stakeholders. They were professional, responsive, and completely on the ball! It was nice to be able to work with a company that values sustainability as well as delicious, high quality food. From the administrative professionals to the delivery professionals at BDP, everyone was responsive, thoughtful, and flexible. If we are ever producing another event in Chicago in the future, I will absolutely hire them without question. Such a pleasant and special experience!

We had BDP cater our May 2017 wedding and we could not have chosen a better cater for the job! Everything from start to finish was amazing. Grace was a huge reason for this!! From the tasting to the final set up for the wedding day she was amazing. She really made us feel like she cared about our wedding and made sure everything was set up beautifully and went smoothly. She even cut greenery from our ceremony decor and placed it on the guests tables for centerpieces so our florist didn't have to come back! She set up our reception space better than we pictured it in our heads! It was important to us to have non-typical wedding food (tacos!) and BPD is the place that can deliver that! They were willing to work with our budget and still give us amazing food options for our guests to give them the best experience. All of our guests raved about the food and said it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding!! and our cake OMG! I showed them a picture of what we were wanting and oh boy did they deliver! If you are looking for a cater for any event BDP should be your first and final stop!!

Food is one of the few things left that can bring strangers together authentically, and nowhere else in Chicago is this ethos better embodied than BDP's truly astonishing farm dinners. The produce is spectacularly fresh and flavorful, and the culinary skills of the skilled staff are on full display. I had a spectacular meal featuring succulent stonefruit salsa, melt in your mouth pork belly wraps, and divine celery root wisps. The farm dinners include local cocktails, beer, and wine, and the selections pair wonderfully with the dinner theme. Nowhere else can you enjoy culinary expertise, local sustainable produce, and a unique communal experience all at once. A singular experience.
