Farm-to-table cafe & caterer with urban farm, eco-meals

"Kinzie Corridor isn’t known for its restaurant scene, there are few and they are far between. But, BDP is a shining star in the neighborhood. This catering company blessed us all when they opened up this brilliant canteen. Open early and with a new special every day, you don’t go hungry or get bored. They’ve got killer breakfast burritos and a wonderful warm staff to keep you coming back." - The Post Family

"A woman-run West Town catering company that emphasizes sustainability — operating an urban farm on three city lots adjacent to its kitchen — and describes itself as a leading green caterer. It was chosen as one of the approved catering options for the center’s largest event spaces, aligning its eco-friendly practices with the campus’s sustainability goals." - Ashok Selvam
"Big Delicious Planet’s cafe just reopened its West Town event space, which closed in 2020. They’re doing daytime service with pastries and eggy burritos in the morning, plus some sandwiches for lunch. And if your favorite breakfast food is coffee, they have that, too. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation
"Big Delicious Planet is a hidden gem in the industrial corridor of Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. A pioneer in Chicago’s sustainable dining scene, BDP has evolved from a backstage rock & roll caterer founded in 1994 to a certified green urban farm-to-table operation. Owner Heidi Moorman Coudal transformed three adjacent vacant lots into a lush farm with 77 raised beds of organic vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, and three beehives. In 2013 BDP became the first caterer in the country to earn 4-Star Certified Green Restaurant status from the Green Restaurant Association, and still holds the title of “Greenest Caterer in America.” BDP’s ticketed summer Urban Farm Dinners attract people from near and far looking for a unique dining experience in our own Urban Farm (or indoors for inclement weather or in the cooler months). Our event and culinary teams choose a weekly theme to inspire the direction of each three hour dinner. Each night's four-course menu showcases BDP’s own daily harvest and commitment to local sourcing. All beverages are included! Host your intimate wedding, private milestone celebration, corporate dinner or holiday party in BDP's Urban Farm or indoor space by reaching out to our event team at hello@bigdeliciousplanet.com."

"Hosting Green City Market's Sustainable Supper Series and panel discussion on March 31, the catering company will serve a three-course meal made with ingredients from market vendors alongside beer from Haymarket Brewing, organic wines from Candid Wines, and canned cocktails from Misoo Aperitivo; the event includes a moderated discussion with Avrom Farms owner Hayden Holbert and owner Heidi Coudal." - Naomi Waxman
