Big Dom’s Bagel Shop Brings B’donuts, Biscuits, Bagels to Cary | Eater Carolinas

"A brick-and-mortar outgrowth of a former pop-up from the owners of Pizzeria Faulisi, planning a 2018 opening at 203 E. Chatham St. and actively hiring bagel team members. The menu focuses on three signature items: malted-dough bagels crisped on the bottom with Crisco, biscuits made with a blend of three flours, and B’donuts (baked doughnuts featuring brown butter). Expect breakfast and lunch sandwiches such as egg salad and BLTs, plus coffees and teas." - Katie Toussaint

Google
Had the most delicious breakfast bagel! Stopped in first time. Had the egg, bacon, and cheddar on asiago bagel. The flavor was incredible, the bagel taste and texture were just right, and the eggs were real. I honestly cannot think of when I had a better bagel. As far as ambience there’s not much. It’s really a place to pick up a bagel and coffee to go. There’s no bathroom and no seating. There is a stand-up counter should one wish to dine in.

Leyla R.

Google
We had smoked salmon bagels. Creme in it was too much a bit, but bagel was very good. It was 10:15 am on Saturday and they were sold out already. There are only 2 outside benches for sitting. The staff for very nice.

Molly A.

Google
Really good bagels but nearly $6 for a bagel with cream cheese! I’ve been 3 times and it’s always consistent— the S&P bagel is so good! Breakfast sandwiches are delicious but over $10! I’m from CA and even in San Francisco you’d be hard pressed to find a bagel that’s $6– maybe a breakfast sandwich but not a bagel with cream cheese. The cream cheese is DELICIOUS! Chewy bagels. The two young women I’ve seen at the register have been unfriendly and somewhat cranky each time I come in.

Google
Wow—best bagel sandwiches in the area (we did egg and cheese with tomato) by far. The plain and everything bagels were great. And the baked cake donut was excellent as well. Fast and friendly service on a Friday morning around 8:45a. Would highly recommend Big Dom’s!

Prasanna D.

Google
So true that Bagels sell pretty fast here. I had the last bagel of the day at 11.10am Lol! Based on reviews I had great hopes about Bagel/spread, but I had better. May be I should visit just when they open and try other options (LOL).

Charlotte R.

Google
Big Dom’s is the BEST bagel shop I’ve tried in the triangle. You have to try their salt and pepper bagel. These are Montreal style bagels (so a little different than a classic NY bagel), but they are the perfect mix between soft on the inside and crisp on the outside. If you go on the weekend, there will be a line at the door and double check your order because things can get crazy during their rush!

Katherine S.

Google
Delicious food, super fun interior and exterior design, amazing staff, I will definitely be back! I got the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on the salt and pepper bagel 12/10 would DEFINITELY recommend this!

Google
My new favorite bagel shop!! My friend recommended to me, and wow I’m impressed! Worth all the hypes! I got the egg and cheese sandwich and it was a bomb! 100/100 🥯 Best bagel in town! They sell out super fast so you have to get there early!

Yelp
Simply great bagels in a tiny little shop. We came in for a dozen to take home and loved them. So much better than grocery store bagels. The were well seeded and correctly made, chewy in the way you expect East coast bagels to be. When toasted they came out perfect to us. One tip, if your buying a dozen, refrigerate them if you want them to last a few days or more.

Yelp
Bagels still great just service has gone downhill a lot. Our orders are hardly ever right anymore. Just came home with a scallion bagel instead of chocolate donut lol They don't toast their bagels to the point it's like they get a bonus or something for every bagel not toasted. I gotta be honest a raw lox bagel is so gross lol the texture is vileeeeee it's all soft and chewy. If they start getting orders right I think they have a shot. If not I would bet there's something new there in a year

Yelp
Love this place. My husband always gets the salmon sandwich and I love the ham and Swiss

Yelp
Sold out of most bagel options at 9:40AM on a Saturday. Salt + Pepper and Everything were the only choices, so went with Egg, Bacon and Cheese Sandwich and Salt + Pepper bagel with Salted Honey cream cheese. Service was friendly, she was really apologetic about the lack of choices. The wait was totally worth it! Will be back to try the cinnamon sugar.

Yelp
So I've been trying out all the bagel spots around town. This was the last one left, with the exclusivity of it all I thought it was going to be hands down a great bagel. Nope. Completely incorrect. This was the most bland bagel Ive had to try in the triad, what tops it off was that it was also the most expensive. A simple bagel coming in at a whopping 2.50. Honestly just tastes like dense bread. Nice art in the place and really wanted to like it, but sadly no I'll never be returning. Also don't expect any sitting room its all just tight standing space.

Justin M.

Yelp
Excellent bagels, but they frequently close before their posted business hours, and they don't have a phone number to call to find out if they're open. That said, they just extended their hours by an hour and twice this week I was able to get food. So I'll keep giving more stars if this place becomes more reliable.

Yelp
Enjoyed my bagel! Big Dom's is a small bagel shop in Cary. There is plenty of parking, but no inside seating. They let a few people in at a time to order, and a line forms quickly at 8am. I ordered an everything toasted with scallion cc which came out to $5.25. If you go early they also sell day-old bagels in packs of 2 for $2 a bundle. Good deal! Location not super close to me, but if it were closer, I would go more often.
google avatar

Paige R.

Yelp
I really love the bagels here. The scallion cream cheese is delicious. I've always had friendly service when I've stopped by. I make it a point to come here whenever I can!
google avatar

Angela D.

Yelp
Would've loved to try it but they closed the door in our faces at 10 am saying, "sorry we're sold out - it's Good Friday!" Not really sure why they didn't post that on the door during the week that they would only be making bagels for three hours or why they bothered opening at all or what Good Friday had to do with bagels. Happy Good Friday & slamming doors in customers faces!
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
I got the egg, bacon, and cheddar on a sesame bagel and the b'donut! Both were sooo good. Service was quick and friendly!
google avatar

Jacki S.

Yelp
Big Doms is a very small but yummy bagel shop. Be prepared to wait in line and there are no tables inside. It is more of a grab and go and you can sit on benches outside or somewhere else in downtown Cary. The staff is incredibly friendly. The prices are very high for what they offer but the food was good. I would recommend trying but to visit often would be spending a lot of money for just a bagel sandwich. There are no gluten free options listed some say you can ask ahead of time but it did not seem to be advertised.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
They have amazing bagels and actually toasted it the way I like it. It was covered in cream cheese and it was just delicious. The coffee was also good. There is no where to eat inside, but there is a bench outside. Don't bypass it because of this though because you will miss out on a great bagel. And, their health score is 100!

Clancy S.

Yelp
Big Dom's is definitely no NYC bagel shop. It's rather a crammed in and stressful environment with no seating or flavor choices. The bagels are pretty inconsistent, while the cream cheese is extremely basic. The most off-putting attribute of this bagel shop is that they do not put the cream cheese on the bagels. Instead, you have to buy them separately and are given a flimsy and rather pathetic, plastic knife to spread it on yourself. I should be getting a discount for doing half their labor. Will not be returning, unless forced.

Yelp
Fast. Delicious. Accommodating. Small but efficient. Me and my wife demolished it. That's really all I got!
google avatar

Michael T.

Yelp
Amazing People, and Bagel's! The Everything is one of the best I've had around Raliegh. Look forward to trying others. Recommend getting there early for more selection.

Jack H.

Yelp
Got a breakfast sandwich and a donut. Impressed with the breakfast sandwich. Donut was underwhelming. Nice little spot a 5 minute walk from Cary Park so you can grab breakfast and stroll the park.
google avatar

Danie L.

Yelp
I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on everything bagel. It was delicious. The tots seemed like they were frozen from a bag. I wouldn't order these again. Service was quick and friendly. The place was super small, it would be nice to have a place to sit and eat.
google avatar

Keith W.

Yelp
It was amazing and tasty. I had lots of smoked salmon on my bagel, and there was great counter service.
google avatar

Tammy M.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try this place for quite a while. They never seemed to be open when we waited to stop by. Finally hit them up on a Sat morning right when they opened. We got an everything bagel (for me) and a sesame bagel (for hubby) and 2 donuts. The bagels were obviously fresh but we didn't care for the lack of crispiness on the outer shell. After eating the whole bagel with cream cheese I only took a bite of the donut. I actually enjoyed the donut the next morning. Would probably try them again if we are in that area. It wasn't worth going out of our way for.

Yelp
Hard to believe this used to be a Little Caesar's...and that it took me so long to try this spot out. Some friends and I were doing a brewery day by train so I needed to grab breakfast close to the station. Big Dom's seemed like the ideal solution. Apparently they are low on staff (isn't everyone?) right now so you must place your order online ahead of time. You can't go in to pick up or eat. The online ordering system was very easy and I set my pick up time for the next morning. There was just one car ahead of me upon arrival so I didn't wait long. The friendly employee greeted me, asked for my name, poured my coffee and off I went with my meal. Like many have said, the bagel has a different consistency than I'm used to with store bought bagels. It was definitely chewier on the outside. My sesame bagel with egg, cheddar, and bacon was wonderful, and very filling! The coffee was good and nice and hot. I'll be back.

Meagan P.

Yelp
Delicious (tasting and priced) bagels and very kind staff! Highly recommend the unicorn cream cheese. These folks are generous with the spread!

Angie J.

Yelp
Excellent service, small, cute little shop with a fantastic selection of items. Does have limit of quantity so would recommend getting there early for the best selection as choices get limited as items sell out. HUGE portions! So tasty though! The lady at the cash register was kind and welcoming! Great shop overall!!!
google avatar

Scott V.

Yelp
Always run out of bagels available, no notice, very frustrating, won't be back and will warn my friends
google avatar

Juniper S.

Yelp
I really love the bagel breakfast sandwich with cheese and bacon on an everything bagel. They use Cabot cheese and good quality bacon. But be aware this place is quirky and tiny. If you want to order online you have to do it the night before and select a time to use the drive up window, otherwise you will wait in a long line in the tiny store. You cannot order online for same day pick up. We like to use the drive up window and then eat our breakfast using the tables at Bond Brothers as they are not open in the morning. They have very limited hours, so overall very quirky place with great bagels.
google avatar

Marina T.

Yelp
Big Doms have the best bagels in the area, and you may quote me! Sometimes they do seasonal schmears that are really good.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
We ordered a lox bagel sandwich on a plain bagel and it was absolutely delicious! The perfect amount of scallion cream cheese, and a big serving of salmon. If I had one critique, the tomato was pretty big. However, the service from the cashier was amazing, and things came out very quickly! The place is cute and I would recommend it.
google avatar

Carlo B.

Yelp
Doms is fantastic! The bagels have the perfect consistency, great structure while easy to eat. Their bacon, egg, and cheese is heavenly with astounding ingredients. Best bagels in the triangle area.
google avatar

Stacy A.

Yelp
Big Doms never disappoints. Whether I'm going for sweet (cinnamon sugar), savory (bacon egg & cheese bagel), or a little combo of both (Asiago bagel with salted honey cream cheese), I always get a decadent, photo worthy, and super filling breakfast option. I'm sure it may not be for everyone but I'm a big fan of the portion of cream cheese with each bagel. I could see how this may not be for everyone because it is a lot of cream cheese, but I think it makes the experience unique and extra delicious. I like that I can order ahead and roll through then drive thru in the morning or pop in to pick something up now that the indoor service is available again. Service is always quick either way and the staff are super friendly. Hoping they'll be able to expand to more hours during the week soon because this would be a solid daily option!
google avatar

Saloni V.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem and I love it! Get there early as they do sell out quickly! My bagel was perfect and tasted amazing! It's a small shop but the staff members are so friendly! I tried the Asiago bagel with their veggie cream cheese! Amazing!!
google avatar

Krista C.

Yelp
Came here before walking over to the farmers market. So SO good. Worth the 10-15 minute wait. Super hot/fresh. Just *chefs kiss*

Emilie E.

Yelp
Wow. The bagels here are fantastic, and I would go back every morning if I could. They tend to run out of the good stuff so go early if you can.

Rose H.

Yelp
10/10 bagels!!! My partner and I got the Asiago bagel and cinnamon sugar bagel toasted with cream cheese - ABSOLUTELY delicious! We were impressed with the amount of cc, they are not greedy with their cc and that made both of us very happy! We also tried the chocolate donut and it's delicious like a chocolate cake donut - not to sweet not to bitter! Bonus they make everything homemade in store! We will be coming back for sure, the cashier was also super friendly and helpful and answered all of our questions! The cold brew we got wasn't really our thing kinda too bitter for us but we still will be coming back! (This doesn't count against them at all because some ppl love that!)
google avatar

Yelp
Bagels are so so. I like the chewiness, a bagel should give your jaw a workout. It was the flavor and texture that I wasn't crazy about. The flavor was different, butI can't put my finger on how. It IS a different kind of bagel, so O guess that's it. The pickup process was dead easy. Ordering in advance, drive up to the window, give them your name and drive off. Overall, not a fan.
google avatar

Steven A.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place to see what the hype was about. I finally went the day after Thanksgiving. 8:30 am. I just got 4 bagels to go since they were out of everything bagels. Simply put, these are average at best. Texture is key for a bagel and the soft outside of these bagels is a disappointment. They are basically glorified dinner rolls. As for the taste, nothing special. And they are overpriced.
google avatar

Reuel H.

Yelp
Nice place, centrally located and ideal for a quick stop in and pick up or however there's no seating or shaded cover. They do not serve coffee of any kind. Staff seems very nice. I was surprised how quickly they ran out of food, menu items. Definitely a small business and small business mentality. Give them a try!
google avatar

Luis M.

Yelp
Pricey for pretty basic. Even got a simple bagel order incorrect. Smh. If you want basic this is definitely the spot!
google avatar

Jeremy A.

Yelp
This bagel shop started off as a side project by Pizzeria Faulisi on the weekends and I'm real glad they made it into it's own storefront. It makes sense because every weekend they had them they were sold out very fast. They also have awesome donuts , biscuits, coffee and will be adding breakfast sandwiches soon. The staff was really nice and organized which is quite impressive for opening weekend. Hit them up for breakfast, I know I will multiple times a week on the way to work
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Definitely the best bagel I've had here in NC. The everything bagel was really seasoned well and very flavorful. The salt & pepper could stand a bit more salt but it was still very tasty. I took a shot at the day old 2 bagels for $1 and I think I got two more salt & pepper but it was hard to tell. Even the day old bagels were tasty though!
google avatar

Kellie B.

Yelp
One of the best bagels I've ever eaten the sandwiches are huge the way it's a little long but it's worth it really really love this place

Tom P.

Yelp
Nothing special, certainly not worth waiting in line for on the weekends. I went to Big Dom's a couple weeks ago on a Saturday. Line out the door so I left and came back midweek when only a couple of people were inside. Based on the reviews, I expected something special but just got a normal asiago bagel. Nothing wrong with it, maybe a tad better than Bruegers but not as good as one of the Einstein Bagels that Publix sells. The lose an additional star for the cream cheese. More is not always better. There was so much cream cheese on it that it completely covered my hands when I unwrapped it. I finally had to take the halves apart because so much was oozing all over everything. Seriously, I wanted a bagel with cream cheese, not a bagel completely covered inside and out with it. Fortunately, I brought the bagel home before eating it. If I had pulled it out at the shop, it would have been a huge mess.

Lisa K.

Yelp
Finally tried this place - my bagel egg, bacon and cheese sandwich was delicious - toasted perfect and good portion size. I know restaurants have had a rough go of it but so have several other businesses and I don't appreciate the cashier saying we just need you to answer some questions after I paid and then throwing a tip screen in my face - I'm sure they can afford to pay their own staff instead of relying on the customers to do it ESPECIALLY since this place is really super pricey... honestly it's over priced.

Megan L.

Yelp
Hot ham & Swiss is one of the best breakfast sandwichs I've ever had! Made to perfection every time I order it. I've always placed my order online and picked up at the window and it's typically a quick pickup
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
These bagels give me liiiiiife! I have tried one of their breakfast egg sandwiches but found myself way more drawn to their Cinnamon Sugar bagel w Salted Honey cream cheese. Omggggeeeee. So good! I've also tried their Everything bagel (usually my staple and go-to) and Salt and Pepper was also good!! I paired them with plain cream cheese and the scallion for the Everything bagel. Besides this place having their bagel game on point, they get even MORE stars with their drive thru service! Order ahead and boomy! The staff has always been really friendly. Ps- I got a pack of 4 of the "day old" bagels. They were individually wrapped w saranwrap and honestly tasted just as fresh as the fresh bagel! I expected to be biting into a hard bagel that I would have to microwave for a few seconds to soften but not at Dom's- I ate mine as is!

Rick B.

Yelp
No one reads long reviews. So... 1. This place is THAT PLACE - The breakfast spot you need to try if you're anywhere near downtown Cary. Give the chains a rest. 2. Ask about specials like the French Toast, B'Doughnuts, etc. Best BEC Bagel I've had. Coffee is a delicious diversion from you know who. 3. Thank you guys for sharing your cuisine & charm.

Yelp
My life was a sad existence until I found Dom's Bagels. Saddled with subpar bagels that were no more appealing than a slice of day old white bread, I almost gave up on finding bagel nirvana. Fortunately this place turned things around for me and I have become a true believer in all things bagels. I love that I can call ahead and they always have it ready on time and no standing in line like a chump at some place like Bruegger's. The drive in is very efficient and the people who work here are always friendly and I feel appreciated as a customer. The coffee is delicious and made by local roasters and they use Escazu chocolate for the mochas that elevates this coffee over all other places. It always feels good to support a local business as lovely as this and I hope you do too!

Kathryn S.

Yelp
Love this place. The bagels are delicious, and I love that you can grab a couple day-olds for a reasonable price and they're still super fresh! Staff is friendly, too!
google avatar

Xuan-Lise C.

Yelp
Took a walk from the Saturday farmer's market to split a BLT on everything. I'd heard there were Montreal style bagels out here, we had to try them out! Growing up as a relocated Canadian, I had the chance to experience fresh bagels from St-Viateur during our summer trips back. The sandwich bagel was cold, maybe we have to ask for it to be toasted, which was kind of disappointing, cold bagel? Bacon was super tasty and the sandwich was a monster. It's a little far for us to get here, but I can see how this would become a favorite. I'd have to get a hot bagel to compare to the originals, but you can tell they are well made bagels. We also got an ice tea, which isn't sweetened, but very tasty tea, kind of floral.
google avatar

Ellie W.

Yelp
The worst experience I've had in a while - I'm a grad student and was excited to have a bagel, coffee and a place to spend my weekend morning doing work. I pulled in and not a car in sight. I thought they were closed. Still went in and was informed they had no gluten-free bagels (which they advertise!) I was told I have to order a day in advance (so definitely can't make last minute decisions). Also, there isn't a single seat in the restaurant. You can't stay and eat (even if I could have). I left extremely disappointed. I wanted to love this place so much!
google avatar

Tori C.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I had been when it first opened and it was pretty good but I can't say that now. The only good part of my bagel was the spicy pickle cream cheese. It was probably the tiniest bagel I had ever seen and I got two different bagels, both the same size. The price was crazy for what it was. You'd be better off going to Bruegger's because the quality is exactly the same and the bagel is at least a good size there.
