We absolute loved our experience with the Big Green Pizza Truck! Not only was the pizza the best we have ever had, but the service was amazing. The truck was right on time, the caterers were professional, polite hard working and went above and beyond! They made every combination of pizza that you could ever imagine and every guest was raving about the quality of the pizza and the speed at which they were making them. When the event was over they boxed and labeled all the left overs and broke down the event with speed and efficiency… as there was a thunderstorm right at the end of the event. There were so many compliments about the pizza and the whole set up. Big green truck was a 10 out of 10! I would highly recommend them to anyone!

From the very beginning contacting the owner to arrange, to the crew who made custom and favorite pizzas… the service and follow-through were tops! We hired Big Green Pizza Truck as one of our wedding food trucks, and they were absolutely amazing! It was our pleasure to have the Big Green Truck over at a Wedding Shower in Killingworth at the Parmelee Farm this weekend. Father and son team of Raymond and Jordan were spectacular chefs bringing spice and pizza creativity to the party. Serious skills were on display as the variety was perfection. Excellent experience. Delicious pizza. Great service. Most of my guests were from out of town and haven’t had New Haven pizza. It got rave reviews. Highly recommend. They were professional, friendly, neat and made damn good pizza! Lots of fun varieties. We also used the bartender service. They provided wine, beer, seltzers, soda annd water and we provided the liquor and juice and they mixed the drinks. It worked out well. The gelato was also delicious and a big hit. They also cut my cake for me. Great team and great party 🎉 Thank you!! 😊

Hired the Big Green Pizza Truck for a corporate event and it was absolutely amazing! The pizza was some of the best pizza all attendees had ever had! The service was incredible! They made so many different types of pizza, they came prepared with to go pizza boxes so we could take it home, they brought gelato and made us cappuccinos. I cannot recommend them enough! We will be hiring them for many more C.N. Wood events!!

Big Green Truck Pizza is a fleet of New Haven-style pizza trucks that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in 2003. It was founded by New Haven catering veteran Doug Coffin. The titular "big green truck" is a 1947 International Harvester Kb5. During Labor Day weekend in 2003, Coffin and a small team headed out on their first job. They were unsure if the truck would even work. That first job was a huge success and over time the fleet grew to be five green International Harvester trucks. Each one is restored and customized to fit a top-of-the-line wood fired oven, refrigerator, espresso machine, hand sink, storage space and much more. The sides on the bed of the truck are specially designed to come off and stand as their prep and serving tables; no space is wasted. At the height of each season, the trucks work at about 50 parties a week. In 2018, Coffin opened a brick & mortar pizzeria. Since it was located next door to the garage where the trucks are stored, it was dubbed Next Door Pizzeria. In 2021, Coffin sold Big Green Truck Pizza to longtime operations manager Liane Varipapa Page and her mother Barbara Varipapa. In late 2024, Coffin retired and sold Next Door as well. My family and I have sampled Big Green Truck's pizza several times over the years. You can say that Coffin and his original crew were pioneers of the pizza truck movement in Connecticut. They were the only pizza trucks in the state back in the early 2000s. Today there are several; many of which were started by former Big Green Truck employees. We recently attended a friend's birthday party and lo and behold he rented Big Green Truck for the party. Some of the pizza choices that guests got to choose from were "New Haven Plain" (tomato sauce, Pecorino Romano, EVOO, oregano, fresh garlic), "Plain Cheese", "Pepperoni", "Fresh Tomato & Basil", Buffalo Chicken", "Mashed Potato & Bacon", "Bacon & Onion", "Spicy Meatball", "Barbecue Chicken", "White Broccoli", "Chicken Fajita" and "Eggplant Rollatini". We never have a bad experience with Big Green Truck Pizza!

Amazing experience, definitely adds a very fun element to any party. The pizza is delicious with a variety of toppings, and guests love the aspect of the New Haven truck!

The Big Green Truck served the Eli Whitney event yesterday and all of the pizzas made were delicious! I enjoyed the clam pizza and the pepperoni pizza. Yummy!

From the moment the party was booked, everything was perfect! The pizza is DELICIOUS! My guests were so happy with all of the options given. I was so pleased that they were able to feed my gluten free guests as well! And the staff was beyond helpful and respectful!!! THANK YOU!

Great way to have a pizza party at your house. They provide everything. Pizza, gelato, paper goods and coffee. Everything that was presented was delicious. The pizza had a good thin crust and cooked to perfection. The gelato and cappuccino was a nice touch at the end of the meal. They also offered a salad. The staff cooked what you requested and had at least 3 or 4 pizzas out at a time I find out from the host of the event, that they ran out of pizza and some guest did not get any. For , $27 per person, if you guarantee 50 people, they should of had enough food. She paid for 53, but only 48 showed up. No excuse for not bringing enough food. The concept is great , and she will do it again next, but with a different truck.

Best buffalo chicken pizza I have had! Tried their pizza for the first time today at a Yale event and it was the best! They were quickly serving a variety of pizzas from the antique truck! All the pizza I tried was good, but Buffalo chicken was my favorite. The crust was perfect not too thin and not too thick!

Fantastic experience with Big Green Truck at our party of 80 people. Amazing pizza, wonderful service - pizza, cappuccinos, gelato. It was outstanding. Can't recommend Big Green Truck enough!

A few months ago I reserved BGTP for a staff event which took place yesterday. They were punctual, staff was friendly and the pizza was quite tasty. They had sooooooo many options to choose from. I was like a kid in a candy store, ha! They make the pizza right there on the truck so it's fresh. The truck has a vintage type look, very cool. If you're having some type of corporate event, give them a call. You're guests are going to love it.

Went to my nephews birthday party in Guilford yesterday. Brian and Mario were unbelievable! Not only excellent pie makers but they bent over backwards to accommodate everyone. Especially my wife who is gluten free! Everyone had a blast and I'll put their pizza against any of the best in New Haven! Mashed potato bacon was my favorite!

The reason for the low rating is not because the food was not good. The food was very tasty. My complaint is they ran out of pizza by 1:15 pm and they had no pistachio gelato as advertised. Their advertising says "There is no set number of pizzas we make; we make pies until your guests are full". This was not the case they ran out of dough by 1:5 pm. I was told they made 36 pizzas and that was all they had! So when 4 of my guest showed up there was no pizza for them! This was my first experience with hiring a pizza truck and I was very disappointed they ran out. Considering I went to another pizza truck about a month ago and they had pizza for 4 hours with pizza left over! I will not hire this pizza truck again it was not worth the price!

The staff that worked my wedding on 5/20 did an AMAZING JOB. It was downpouring and they still delivered a great experience that guests are still talking about. They were super flexible working with the venue as plans kind of changed with the weather. They were also amazing working with certain guests with food preferences/allergies, etc. Would definitely recommend! Can't thank the staff enough for making the night incredible despite the weather!

Arrived ON.THE.DOT (points) Had no trouble navigating through the back yard. Were incredible pleasant and accommodating with special requests and dietary restrictions. PIZZA WAS LEGIT! Not kidding-we are old school I-Talians and this was like Wooster Street on wheels. Everybody RAVED... like, the party was 8 hours ago and I'm still getting texts. These people just know what they're doing. You worry about nothing. Brought out the pizzas and salads- noticed we were cutting the cake so they discreetly asked if we would like our gelato... cappuccino etc Excellent and top notch. Obviously, I highly recommend THANK YOU GUYS!!!! You're awesome! We haven't even HAD our party yet but the customer service alone at Big Green Truck deserves 5 recognition. We've weighed out several options with different pizza trucks for our kids upcoming birthday and honestly, every contract looked like a mortgage application. We came across a lot of stipulations that didn't give us much peace of mind in our date and with everything going on, we were just hoping to find a family owned company who made it easy for us and with a phone call on a wimb, we contacted Liane at BGT and she's was so incredibly calm, kind, helpful and EASY to work with so we just had to go with them. Their contract is fair, simple and even priced in lower than other similar operations. So far all correspondences are answered more than satisfactory and in a very timely fashion. They are just so chill... like "we got it don't worry"- the calm in today's storm. I will most certainly repost an updated review after our party with lots of pics and I'm sure many rave reviews from our kids and guests to go with it! We're really looking forward to the party! I love the Big Green Truck! I've had it at two separate parties for catering, and both times it was awesome. The team slings out as many pies as your crowd can eat, with leftovers - they even take requests if you have a special combo in mind for pizza toppings! Complete with salad, gelato, and cappuccino for dessert after as much delicious pizza as your party can eat, you can't go wrong with choosing them to cater your next event (big or small).

We hired the Big Green Truck for our wedding reception in September. From our first email exchange from us shaking their hands goodbye at the end of the night this team were true professionals. Very quick at responding and very easy going. This is a well oiled machine and they know what they are doing. Now the important part- the food! Hands down some of the best pizza we have ever had. We loved the variety as well. The salad and gelato make this a simple but crowd pleasing meal for a great price! Our wedding guests still talk about this pizza months later! Do yourself a favor and book them right now! Thank you for making our wedding day so special and yummy!

This was far and away one of the best private food truck experience I have had to date. The team at Big Green Pizza Truck was so accommodating to all of our company's needs, including COVID-19 precautions and having to eat in shifts to allow for social distancing. Not only was the level of service excellent, but the food itself was amazing. There was something for everyone, providing pizza, salad, gelato AND espresso. Additionally, the pizza is some of the best in the area, which is saying a LOT in New Haven. We would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone for a work or private event.

This pizza is so so good! The Big Green Truck came to a company event for lunch and we got to try so many of the different pizzas. I love that they cut them up into small-ish slices because that way you can try so many different ones (and not feel as guilty about it). I don't know exactly how many varieties of pizza there were but I would say at least 15-20. The topping combos were incredible, I liked every single one that I tried. And somehow every time I looked back, there were more and more pizzas on the table. Everyone at work was raving about it. Definitely recommend this for any event!

Not what I expected I'll stick to my usual spots. The flavor of the pizza was whatever made it spicy could not taste meatballs or anything the other pie we took a few bites and it had plenty of flavor but just not good

They have a great selection of pizza with the mashed potato and bacon pizza being my favorite. I love how friendly the staff is and the music they bump while they make the pies-- nirvana, foo fighters, etc bring me back to middle school. The gelatos are also fire. I've tried the chocolate and coconut, and both are superb.

Damm, some fine pizza comes out of this vintage truck's wood fired oven! I can't even believe I only had like 3-4 pieces because it was the middle of the day and I was stopping at the local Ring's end lumber yard for 3 small bolts for a little project. I got my stuff and as I was leaving I noticed all the yellow shirts standing around having what looked like slices. Turns out it was contractor appreciation day.... I went over and grabbed a couple of thin crust slices of eggplant (because that's my favorite and no one at my house will eat it) and it was really really good. They also had a huge salad with perfect balsamic dressing. And the crust was excellent, perfect blend of crisp and chewy. The guy working with me that day is vegan, so I explained to the server that my guy doesn't eat meat or dairy, and they threw a vegan pie with exactly what he wanted into the wood fired oven. It was done in like 3 minutes. I walked around the truck to check it out and looked for the propane tank, nothing, I asked the guy at the oven, he said look inside, yep only wood! I might even keep a lookout for this truck, you should too!

What an amazing service and such great quality of food. BGT was there on the Friday night welcome dinner the night before my wedding and it was such a great addition for a casual night of celebration. The pizza is delicious and they churn them out quickly. There is great variety of different kinds of pizza and then the gelato and cappucinno are just icing on the cake. Five stars and would book again!!

I love this pizza truck. The pizza is delicious. have enjoyed it at a birthday party and at the Woodmont Farmer's Market in Milford. The mashed potato and bacon pizza is my favorite. I also love the tomato, basil, and mozzarella pizza. The pizzas come out quickly, the ingredients are high quality, and the customer service is very good. They also have Gelato and espresso.

I would recommend this place for your party. This place is great the food was the best for a 6 grade party the pizza was sooooo good. That was spinning pizza and everything.I found them a paugy party for my school. the employees were great the green truck looks super cool

What a bright spot in my otherwise routine week when I found that I could order from the big green truck/next door and get the same wonderful creative dishes ( and the beat pizza in new haven)! The food was perfectly prepared , kept well on the drive home, and cheerfully delivered to my car . They even had (really really good) gelato which was a perfect ending to the meal in a perfectly sized little to go cup with a lid. Well done -- highly recommended

Have seen the truck setting up while going to Apple store but this is the first time able to get pizza. I got a slice of bacon bbq and an eggplant slice. Both were excellent. They had at least 10 different varieties. Fun to watch them prepare and stick into the wood fired oven on the back of the truck. The bit of warmth thrown was welcome on this cool afternoon too!

I was @ A-1 Toyota today and I tried a slice of pizza.The pizza was not only outstanding but the crew who baked this masterpiece was great. They did not have the attitude some places have.It was a pleasant surprise.Five stars for the pie and five stars for the crew(chef's)!!!

Our backyard party was yesterday. This pizza truck is NOT like the rest!!! If you like authentic thin crust New Haven pizza, book this truck for your next pizza party. It's worth every single penny. We are enjoying lots of leftovers now. They went above & beyond for us. They showed up an hour prior to start time of our party to make sure hot pizza would be ready by the start of the party. Their staff were SO friendly & professional. They made everything fresh on-site. They offer a WIDE variety of awesome Pizza, fresh tossed salad, gelato & cappuccino / espresso!

We had The Big Green Truck come for our wedding party. The guys were so nice. So helpful (at one point one man was helping me clean up the food tent to make room for desserts!). We also had a pig roast present and they both teamed up and made some fantastic pulled pork pizzas! There was so much pizza left over even after hearing everyone say how much they ate. The good part about that is I had plenty to taste the following days (since being the bride I only managed to eat 1 slice all night!!) I highly recommend this company. My friends even want to throw parties to have the truck again. It was simply fantastic. Thank you for helping us make the best day even better!!

We just had a birthday party with 35 guests. It was a cold rainy night (May 29 ‍) but Big Green did a spectacular job. They were pumping out pizzas for hours, each one better than the last. So many of our guests are serious pizza aficionados and they were really impressed by the quality and variety. The 2 guys couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. They made whatever pizzas any of the guests requested. On the fly! Great salad, gelato and espressos and cappuccinos. I recommend them highly. They are a wonderful operation.

Beware they are unreliable with orders. Since it is a mobile truck they don't have product nor capacity to make up for their mistakes. So when they screw up, you are out of luck. The big green truck did an event in my neighborhood. I put in an order 16 days in advance and received confirmation from the GM Liane. I was told I'd receive a payment request the day before the event, but it was never sent. I emailed the morning of the event and they never responded. When I showed up to pick up my pizzas they claimed no record of my order. They told me they didn't think they could make them but offered to count how much dough they had left to see if there was extra. I walked away empty handed.

Pizza is always amazing!!! We had another great company event with the Big Green Truck Pizza, our employees look forward to this truck every year! The variety of toppings seems endless and we love them all! Plus, theemployees are fun and professional!! Can't wait until next year!!

My husband and I booked Big Green Truck for our wedding this past weekend and they did not disappoint! From day one, they answered us quickly and made our planning super easy. They were reasonable and we had so many complements on everything from the pizza to the gelato. They even took requests from our guests with special food allergies. We'd recommend them for any kind of party you're throwing!

I hired them for my boss Rick J. recently to host his niece's confirmation party in Orange. Rick J. said everything was excellent!! Roger & Pizza Rick were their "pizza making experts". The guys were super friendly, banged out great food & everyone had a blast! Easy to work with, responded to my last minute reservation request promptly & confirmed the day before since bad weather was lurking in the forecast. It was actually Pizza Rick's birthday too, the same night as Rick J.'s son Evan! So celebrating was on point! We will definitely use the Big Green Truck again & would highly recommend them to our friends & family for all of their upcoming future events.

Big Green Truck saved our wedding! My husband wanted a pizza truck, so we decided to get one for cocktail hour. From the start, I loved them. Their pizza was amazing and the whole staff was incredible! My husband wanted to go with a different vendor, which I advised him not to do. The other vendor dragged their feet, so I decided to give Big Green a call. I left Liane a message, telling her that since it was such short notice, I understood if they could not make it work. But like magic, she called back and made it happen! Not only that, but everyone at the wedding could not stop talking about how great the pizza was. It was such a wonderful day and all of the guests were impressed. Book Big Green Truck and you will be so happy you did!

Big Green Truck has a great outdoor space at their location which is BYOB--you order takeout at the window (or beforehand) and can sit at their tables. The food is great, there is ample outdoor room so you won't find yourself waiting in line or crowded too close to other people, and the people running the place are welcoming and friendly. The menu they offer is the one found on their takeout page. It includes not only delicious pizza--hands down, some of the best in New Haven-- but also great salads and wraps. For people who are pizza-ed out, I recommend the shrimp or chicken skewers: for $10, you get a hearty portion of chicken with a delicious plum chutney and yogurt sauce. Highly recommend this local spot!

I absolutely love these guys. I pick up their pizza every week at the Treat Farm Farmers Market. They have a bunch of different styles to go with and they've all been great so far. The pizzas from the truck are individual sized, a little pricey but they come through on big taste. Pro tip: call their office in the morning and put your order in (to pick up at a certain time) to avoid long lines. I inquired about hosting an event with them and the rates are very reasonable. I haven't moved forward with it yet but I plan to for the right occasion.

Throwing a fun party has never been easier! To die for pizza served up in a unique way! Easy to book with helpful friendly staff. Our second time using and I would still highly recommend! Book early would be my only piece of advice because spots fill up far in advance!

Went to an awesome corporate function last summer where the pizza truck was in attendance, as well as the meat truck. Best pizza I've ever had. Great staff, phenomenal service. Attention to detail is superb. Dan was very helpful and informative, a consummate professional. Not only was the pizza great, but so was the made-to-order expressos. Can't wait for this year.

I attended a regional chamber of commerce event held at the Hill-Stead Museum last week and OMG the pizza!!!!! It was so amazing! I'm from Hamden/New Haven and we don't often stumble upon pizza that tastes like home (Modern, Sally's, Pepe's, Abate,...) up here in the Farmington Valley. I had to take a picture of the side of the truck so I could tell my husband about it and remember it for the future. The guy in the truck (can't remember his name) was awesome. He graduated from Hamden High School, too (a couple years before me). We had a nice chat, I raved about the pizza. I was there to network with other area businesses but I found it very difficult to leave the table where all the pizzas were being placed. Every one was fantastic. The Big Green Truck is AWESOME!

Despite all the great New Haven options, You should consider making this your go to pizza place. The food is terrific and the people couldn't be more helpful and nice. Recently I ordered something online and when I picked it up it wasn't entirely correct. It was probably my fault because I had called them to change the order. Despite this they remade the pizza and drove it across town and delivered it to the house.

We love the Big Green Truck Take out food!! The fig and prosciutto pizza is amazing. Because each bite is a test treat we have to force ourselves to try the other delicious pizza options. I also think it is a great idea that I can order online days in advance. It helps me plan meals for the week and on BGT nights I know I don't have to cook! They also offer delectable salads to go with your pizza. Try the nectarine salad next time you order. I know you will enjoy your food as much as I do.

Amazing pizza, great staff. All around a great experience! Had them for my Mom's birthday celebration and various other events, Doug, Robin, Christian and the team helped us throw outstanding events.

We contracted the Big Green Truck for a work retirement party. They are true professionals. They are at your event early. Set up, even in the rain. The salad and pizza keeps coming. Their staff will explain what types of pizzas are out on the tables and they are there to please. Gelato and cappuccino is a nice touch at the end. I would highly recommend them for any event!!
