Forget whatever your Korean mom taught you in the kitchen. This Korean Army Stew tasted like a tomato based Korean seasoning or marinade gumbo, spaghetti bowl, especially with its spicy links. The consistency of the soup or marinade is as thick as Sunny D. I drank it. It was SO delicious! It's called the Korean Army Stew. The Korean American Army stew? I don't know. Anyways. This serving was so generous! The pieces of tofu were as big as pita chips. It was great!!!!!!!! I had two large containers to take it home. And I mean larger than the dinner platter black container clear plastic lid containers that you are now getting at any major restaurant chain. I'm not sure if it's still priced the same as it is on the menu, as it might have been priced higher when I went and I also went during the evening. Everything I ate was so delicious. So every time that I went to Yoshinoya and wanted a beef bowl and received the beef bowl that I ordered, I expected to taste the Bulgogi rice bowl. The Bulgogi rice bowl is so simple like Yoshinoya. It's a very lean serving of meat and the marinade resembles a tea. There wasn't any oil dripping from this tea. It's like you're drinking water.
The Fried Chicken W & L (8 pcs)! Not a fan of chicken wings. My sister ordered them. Are these really chickens? I've seen chicken wings and they're usually a lot thinner than these. These were so plump and they were huge! The marinade was as if they completely mastered that honey bbq flavor from any chicken wing spot. It also sorta but not really resembled orange chicken. Whatever it was, it was incomparable to any other honey bbq marinade I have ever tasted. Besides that, there wasn't a part of the chicken skin, if there was even any skin on it, that felt like it. It seemed like the cook completely skinned the chicken wing and battered it thick to resemble skin and so every time that you bit into this heavily soaked, but not soggy, crust, all you had was nothing but delicious crust and chicken in your mouth, not some nerve, fat or cartilage, aside from skin that you didn't want. I think my sister ordered the Kimchi roll, which I thought was ok. It reminded me of an avocado roll that you get post gym or after some other eastern medicine treatment when you're attempting to detox to feel well. Very fresh and not marinated. Not sure why it is named Kimchi. The side dishes, e.g. bean sprouts, seaweed and cabbage, that were served soaked in Kimchi, weren't like any other Kimchi marinated dish because unlike the Kimchi that I have had on at least over fifteen occasions, this one omitted a certain ingredient and had something like a sweeter base to it, but not one that is overwhelming, similar to a white wine without being fragrant or standing out. Go! It's the best! I went and had the same type of stew and soup in Koreatown several times and it's not the same. It's like having what someone's second generation grand kid reinvented for their restaurant. It's SO good.
