The Best Korean Restaurants In The San Gabriel Valley

"There are times when I wake from a fever dream of eating rabbokki from a Seoul street vendor. The halmoni is leaning in to whisper in my ear exactly what the key to true happiness is when I suddenly bolt awake in a cold sweat, alone in my room and completely rabbokki-less. Despite that disappointing state of waking up at a time when Big Rice is closed to rabbokki lovers, I’ve only made it there a couple of times to indulge in the mess that is a giant mishmash of ramen noodles and fat, squishy rice noodles in a fiery sauce. Big Rice gives you the option of adding udong and/or glass noodles. I’m not a fan of the modern “Just douse it in massive amounts of gross substandard mozz” that is the hallmark of Korean fast-food cooking these days, but at Big Rice, it just makes sense. Under the watchful eye of a maneki neko, you’re here to indulge in food that is fun, fast, and colorful. The cheese corn is so gooey that your chopsticks get stuck in it, and even the don katsu is smothered in an excessive amount of cheese. Expertly-rolled kimbap comes in tuna, bulgogi, kimchi, and roe, and the drinks include banana milk, strawberry milk, and Milkis, the Korean drink that tastes like milky rice." - dakota kim

Food is delicious in good portions. Spacious and clean environment. Good Korean vibe with background music. We ordered Beef over rice, Spicy Pork over rice and Jajangmyun (noodle with onion sauce). Full menu is not available since they are soft opening. Will come back again and try the Korean Army Stew, it sounds interesting.

Google
Was surprisingly really good. The venue is clean and not very noisy. Ordered the Army stew and Kimchi Fried Rice. If I had another choice, probably would've chosen a different dish than the rice as it was kinda overshadowed by the stew.

Google
I can’t believe this is what I got for about $100. If I can give negative star I would definitely do so. Very very very very very very overpriced and horrible meat quality. Two containers. The first one you only got three bones with very little very dried meat that you can’t even bite off. I thought there will be more meat on the second container and when I open it’s all potatoes and vegetables. Don’t even buy food here. If you want galbi you should definitely eat at Sun Nong Dan.

Google
Off the bat, servers were very friendly and sociable. The Korean Army Stew was very much worth the price and the new corn wine they were promo-ing worked incredibly well with the spiciness. 10/10 would come back again

Google
Korean restaurant in the Vons complex serving toppoki, fried rice, stews, and more. Came here for dinner on Friday night in a group of four around 7pm and were seated immediately. There was only one employee working front of the house at the time, so props to her for handling the restaurant on her own. There was no banchan served. They currently don’t have alcohol but apparently they’re working on getting their license. You can eat the dishes family-style; three dishes for the four of us was a good amount and we had leftovers good for one person. The crispy squid was nicely fried and came with a smoky, spicy chili sauce on the side. The bulgogi fried rice was a bit too oily, so I wouldn’t order that. The toppoki was a must-order. We paid extra to add in cheese (do it), 4 fried dumplings (not necessary), and udon (do it only if you like fat noodles). The sauce had a hint of spice but was mild overall. There was a generous amount of cheese and it comes with rice cakes and a few fish cakes.

They don’t have potato soup today, ok, I ordered beef soup then. It literally tastes like beef meat in the water. Bibimbap is just ok….. honestly, I never had Korean food so bad so far, will never come back. Sorry

Yelp
Located in the Vons shopping center on Lemon and La Puente, with plenty of parking. Very nice interior - modern and clean. Good service and attentive. Mainly came here to try their Galbi Jimm. We usually go to another popular place for this dish but their pricing has gone up. The dish here is still reasonable for the price and a good sized portion. Taste wise it was pretty good and fulfilled by Galbi Jim craving. Other dishes on menu looked pretty good so I'll have to come back and try.

Yelp
Came here a few months ago because I was really craving for Kimchi Fried Rice. I normally go to the one located in Temple City, but that one went out of business. Service here is decent. Staff were all nice and somewhat attentive.

Yelp
Looking for a spot to get our grub in for dinner and thought to check out this place. Parking is ample, we were seated right away. Servers are friendly. I love the set up. Neon light walls with korean phrases. It's a spot to hang out with friends on a Friday night. They offer a variety of alcohol and food all in all is OK. Portion size is good. We ordered the following: 1. Tuna Kimbap: they offer half size or full and tastes so fresh and healthy! 2. Seafood Pancake: fair price for an almost large portion. Packed with shrimp, squid and scallions. Chef's kiss! 3. Fried Jajjangmyeon with Seafood: large portion but problem was it was salty. The server offered either a refund or if we want to order another item instead. So went ahead and tried 4. Sweet & Sour Pork: pretty good! Not as crunchy as I expected but flavor with the sauce compliments each other. 8/10 Will definitely be back with friends!

Yelp
First time trying this with friends. Ordered their galbijim and spicy chicken feet. Normally we have galbijim from sung nun dong and it's very good so it's hard to beat that. But this is not bad. First time eating spicy chicken feet and boy it was spicy but they are very generous with their portions.
google avatar

Eliza O.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times now and enjoyed the galbijim both times. While Sun Nan Dong has the best, Big Rice is a good (and more affordable) alternative. Also tried the spicy chicken legs this time. It was spicy and had a lot of chicken legs. Tasted fine but not my dish. I'll need to try other things. Service was timely and the place has been remodeled so it looks very modern and inviting.

Yelp
Came here with my two Korean friends and they were not impressed. I thought the food was just okay, but that's in comparison to other Korean restaurants I've been to. One of the main reasons we came was so that I could finally try Jjajangmyeon which I did like. We also had the Galbi Jjim which the meat was super tough and the Sweet and Sour Pork which was lacking a crunch. Overall, the service was good and it was nice that their hotpot's including the galbi jiim was 50% off. It was an okay experience but not good enough for me to return.

Yelp
Came in for lunch and got the buda jigae... absolutely amazing! Perfectly level of spice, filled with beef, sausage, rice cake and all the goodies. Also got kimchi pancake, and it was delicious as well. Service was friendly, really loved this place!
google avatar

Linda K.

Yelp
I must be honest, the order that we had - food was not decent when it comes to presentation. BUT when tasting them, Kimchi Fried Rice was a little bit salty, this due to the spam in it while Jajangmyeon is so tasty and so delicious. The downside thing is some of the menu sold out so we could not try the army noodle that time. The staff also very attentive, offering to to up the side dish which really appreciated. Will definitely return to try the hot pot.
google avatar

Rebecca L.

Yelp
I ate here for the first time this past Sunday evening. My boyfriend usually orders delivery takeout for us from here so I'm glad we got to visit the restaurant. We ordered the large Galbi Jjim, two orders of rice, and one order of sprite to share. We purposely ordered the large so that we would have food left over to take home. Oh boy, there was plenty of food to take home when we were done. Our waiters were so nice. They keep refilling our banchan and water. We probably had the banchan refilled 3 times. When we asked for a container for the banchan, they gave us new containers of banchan to take home. That was so sweet and nice of them. The total came out to 104 and some change including 20% tip.

Yelp
Inside Spacious. Clean. Inviting. Good vibe. In the front section are booths, seating up to 4 people. In the next section, are more seating that can accommodate larger parties. Food Fresh. Delicious. Tasty. We ordered: *Topokii ($13.95) *Fried dumplings (8) ($8.99) *Seafood pancake ($15.99) *Kimchi fried rice ($13.99) Portion size leaned towards the generous. All the dishes were very tasty & my party & I would order all of them again. Delicious! Service Quick. Attentive. Kind & courteous. Very friendly. Overall Would definitely recommend this place, but bring your friends with you to order more dishes to share with each other. That's the fun part!!!

Yelp
If you're a fan of Korean cuisine or just looking to explore new and exciting flavors, this is it. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the friendly staff, setting the tone for what turned out to be an exceptional meal. The restaurant was impeccably clean, with full of customers which obviously is a great sign, as if the delicious smell of food in the air wasn't a good sign already! To kick off our meal, we started with the galbi jjim, and it was absolutely delightful - a perfect balance of savory, sweet, and spicy. This was a non-negotiable as my wife already knows that this is probably one of my favorite Korean dishes ever, actually even outside of Korean cuisine too! We also ordered kimchi fried rice that was absolutely phenomenal. The rice is stir-fried to perfection, absorbing all the amazing flavors, which created a flavorful bite with every spoonful. And of course kimchi fried rice isn't complete without being topped off with a perfectly fried egg. Yum!! Lastly, the array of banchan that accompanied our meal was a fantastic way to sample a variety of flavors, each offering a unique and mouthwatering taste. Whether you're a Korean food enthusiast or a first-time explorer, this restaurant promises an exceptional dining experience that will keep you coming back for more. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Yelp
Came here for dinner with the family because my dad was craving galbi jjim, and so we had ordered a large one in addition to toppoki (added cheese for an extra $3) and original chicken wings (8 comes to an order). Our waiter Jared was very nice and made sure to check in on us. We had plenty of leftovers for lunch the following day, and the food still kept well.

Yelp
We came tonight for dinner, but were a bit disappointed with service and some dishes. The waitress wasn't listening to what we were saying and then kept trying to put us at a smaller table. Then when she realized that we had more people coming, and she rudely said that she didn't hear it. Then afterwards, she never came to offer us any water or anything as we waited, until we waved her down to order food. When the rest of the group arrived, she gave them a lot attitude too, that my friends mentioned it to me too. She didn't come over once during the meal to check on us or see if we needed anything. Food was okay. We ordered an army stew, gimbap, bulgogi, and seafood pancake. The seafood pancake was probably my favorite tonight. The gimbap was a bit bland and oily. The army stew was stuck to the bottom and burned, so be sure to stir it often if you order it. The bulgogi was a bit tough, and there wasn't a whole lot of meat. Overall, service and food fell a bit flat for us tonight.

Yelp
We get big rice at least twice a month at work because we are addicted to their bulgogi fried rice and the army stew. You can't go wrong with those two! Price: $ Ambiance: simple and clean Service: fast and friendly

Yelp
Came with my BFF on a Friday night. We ordered a seafood pancake, seafood ramyeon, chicken feet, and beef skewers. Everything was scrumptious! First, the seafood pancake was packed with ingredients, it had the most seafood and veggies than any other seafood pancake I have had and we loved it! The sauce for the pancake was right on. The chicken feet were spicy but the flavor was great. If you are not a big fan of chicken feet then it may take some getting used to. The seafood ramyeon was perfectly al dente for my taste, the sauce paired exceptionally well with the noodles, flavorful but not too much. Finally, the beef skewers were definitely 10/10, well seasoned and ohhh so juicy! Chef's kiss to the skewers! A huge shout out to our server who promptly provided excellent service! He came by frequently to check up on us. He was fast, attentive, and very sweet. We had a wonderful experience. The restaurant was clean, well lit and not noisy. My friend and I were able to chit chat to our heart's content without having to shout. We look forward to going back so please keep up your great work!

Yelp
Tried this place out for the first time. I was craving kimbap and this was the closest place to me. The menu had so many yummy options I couldn't decide what I wanted! In all honest, I order way more than my bf and I could handle! Lol the portion sizes were so big. I ended up getting a half roll of the bulgogi kimbap. It was my first time trying the Fried Jajangmyeon with Seafood. OMG sooooo good! Next time, I really want to try one of the hot pot options! Also, the girl who helped us was very friendly and helpful when it came to ordering and serving us!

Yelp
Date of visit: 5/5/2022 Came with daughter for lunch today and ordered: - toppoki, added ramen: tasted just ok. Ramen was overcooked. Not enough fish cakes. - kimchi fried rice: pretty good but on the lighter side. It has little cubes of spam in it - beef fried rice: take out order for my son. He said it's tasted good but not much beef in it. Service was efficient and polite. Not sure if I will go back though. Sometimes I feel korean food is just not for me....

Yelp
We stopped by this place on the way to Pasadena thinking it would be a quick bite since we were hungry and then finishing an actual meal in Pasadena. We first tried the spicy rice cake and the bulgogi fried rice. They are more of a pub vibe, but works very well as a sit down restaurant. So it was a nice surprise to see a simple, but very tasty set of banchan placed before us. The banchan is delicious. The kimchi was especially flavorful and fermented just right. By the flavor of the banchan alone, we knew the food was to be fantastic. And it was. It was flavorful and plentiful. And the price is JUST right. We loved it so much we went back another time exactly a week later. We ordered the spicy rice cake again, but this time also got a kimchi casserole and black bean noodles. Again, the food was amazing and the price was great considering the amount of food. Both times, our service was impeccable. The host/server keeps their distance, and yet they always had a good gauge of our needs (water, napkins, etc.) I recommend this place, despite it being quite a bit ways off of the typical eateries in this area.

Yelp
1. bone& meat Beef Soup. Plz the owner must upload the actual food picture, or describe the soup is spicy. I ordered this for my kid (3yrs) and there was no photo nor details about the ingredients or flavor etc... I thought it was just white (none-spicy) beef soup. Waste my money. I had to make another food for my daughter:(. Also this soup not even good taste... No flavor, way under-seasoning. I am not sure if the owner is real Korean? I never seen this kind of beef soup ever in my life. ( I am Korean and lived in Korean for 25yrs) Nasty... 2.Corn cheese... I do not want to talk about this. I could make it better than here. Sorry... 3.tuna kimbap was ok. But do not dip it in the red sauce. I do not know why they serve with the vinegar chilli sauce ( AKA Cho gochujang)

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. I tried going one time but got there in between services. Tried again with the same friend and ordered the pork casserole with glass noodles with a side of seafood pancake. They didn't have tea but did have plenty of water for refills. I ordered the pancake but it was a bit thicker than necessary. I like a crispy edge. They did have a nice combo of seafood with a sesame dipping sauce. The banchan of 3-4 different kimchi was good too. The casserole wasn't good. I love Korean food but this was the first Korean food I did not like. The spices didn't work for me. I think I prefer my mom's pork chop soup. I gave the leftovers to my friend. It was just okay. I could try other dishes to give it a chance.

Yelp
Kimchi fried rice: 7/10. Jajangmyun with pork: 6/10 (would likely taste better if dine in). Fried chicken: 7/10. Bulgogi Beef Roll: 9/10. Army soup looks promising. Will have to try when we dine in next time. Customer service: 9/10

Yelp
We tried Big Rice for to go few months ago but this is our first time to have indoor dining there. The server first checked our vaccination card when we got in. (I was hesitated to have indoor dining coz Omicron is getting more popular now, but we were the only people there when we got in) anyhow, we ordered Jajangmyeon (炸醬麵 $13.99) and Bulgogi kimbap/roll (牛烤肉卷 $8) omg...they were super duper delicious! The Bulgogi Bimbap, you could taste each ingredient inside and with the sauce was even made it more flavorful!!!! And the Jajangmyeon is the one to die for!!! Highly recommended!! It's not salty but flavorful. I almost finish up the sauce. Btw, they also gave us 3 banchan (side dishes) as appetizers. My tummy is so satisfied now! And I don't need to go too far to have delicious Korean food! P.S. Great service! We were the first table there and then we saw some other people got in later. Only one server there for 5 tables but she did a good job.

Yelp
Came here with 2 other people. The restaurant shares a parking lot with the Von's, so there's plenty of parking. There was only one waitress working the cashier, taking phone calls, and handling orders. It was a weekday evening, so it wasn't super busy yet, but she checked up on us multiple times, got us more water, and gave us extra napkins. Restaurant played lots of catchy K-pop from different eras which was really nice and the aesthetic and ambience was much fancier than what I thought it would be. Each table has an electric stove for hot pot, so I do want to come back here for some of their stew, and they also have call buttons too. We got the: 1) Tuna Kimbap: -We got the full roll which comes with 10 pieces, 2 takuan pieces, and some spicy sauce to dip it in ( you gotta dip it in the sauce, tastes so good with it). -I feel like you can never go wrong with tuna kimbap and this was a great way to start our meal. -Each roll had a good rice to filling ratio. Filling included tuna, takuan, carrot, etc. 2) Bulgogi Rice: -You can never go wrong with sweet and savory bulgogi meat. -Texture wasn't too chewy or tough, but this dish came with a higher rice to meat ratio, so we had a lot of rice leftover. -There's some sauteed veggies as well. 3) Jjajangmyeon: -Standard black bean noodles. -Nice umami flavor with an okay amount of veggies and sliced cucumber in it. -Noodles were doughy and absorbed the flavor really well. Banchan included some pretty fresh bomb kimchi, a kelp salad, and bean sprout salad. Not bad !

Yelp
Really clean and modern space for korean food. They have quick service. We ordered their army stew but the broth was so thick and sweet that we had to add a bunch of water. We ended up being the only table on a Sunday evening and there was no music/background sound so it did get a bit awkward.

Yelp
Food (5/5): Returning to the restaurant, my friends and I decided to order the army stew with ramen and extra glass noodles and a full roll of bulgogi kimbap. For the three of us, I think just the army stew WITHOUT the glass noodles would've been more than enough food. My friends and I eat only ate one piece of the kimbap roll each so needless to say the portions are huge. The food was delicious, especially the army stew. The ramen noodles in the army stew were so good because it soaked up all the flavor. One downside was that we weren't aware that there were rice cake at the bottom of the bowl so when we started to mix it, the rice cake already got pretty stuck to the bottom. The ham and sausage inside were good as well. The kimbap was also good with a lot of flavor. I like eating it while dipping it into the army stew. Price (5/5): For the portion size, the price was so affordable. I believe our total came out to about $19 per person with tip and tax but we ordered almost double what we could eat. Price is definitely not an issue at this restaurant. Service and interior (4.5/5): The interior is nice and lot of tables are available, but maybe it's because we went on New Year's Day but the service was kind of subpar as we had food brought out but it was hard to catch our waiter's attention whether it be for the bill or for more water. However, I still rate it a 4.5/5 because it was obvious that there was only one waiter and he was certainly busy as the restaurant was almost full with continuous to-go orders.

Yelp
I came in about 30 minutes before closing, but the staff there was so so kind, still let us seat, and took our orders without pressuring us. We ended up ordering a seafood pancake, jjamppong, and bulgogi. While waiting, the side dishes came out and they were so generous with the portioning. They were also delicious and when we ran out of beansprouts later, they gave us a whole big plate more. The food came out fairly quickly and was good portion. Although I wouldn't say it was the best Korean food I've had, it was still pretty good (and the side dishes were killer!).

Yelp
I had come here since they opened recently and I was craving jjajangmyeon and was happy to see it on their menu. The menu is limited right now due to covid and they're in soft opening. The menu is varied and they had also kimbap, kimchi fried rice, ramyun, and teokbokki. The jjajangmyeon ($11.48) had slices of pork, chopped onions, zucchini, and sliced cucumbers on top. The sauce was not too salty or watery, the consistency was a good thickness. The noodles were a bit too soft for me. The banchan were well-fermented kimchi, seaweed salad, and kongnamul (stir-fried bean sprout). They're still in soft opening so they're were open from 5pm-9pm but they added more hours recently. The staff is nice and place was clean.

Yelp
i went here a little bit late into the night with a few friends and when we walked in the service was the first thing we noticed, they're so nice and were helpful the entire time we were there! although we came at a late time so we were the only ones there, it was nice inside and it was very welcoming. we decided to order the army stew with beef and ramyun and it was enough to get us (there was 3 of us) super full AND with leftovers. i believe it had sausage, spam, brisket, rice cakes, some veggies, ramen noodles, and i might be missing a few more things, but the broth itself was SO good! we also got topokki with cheese as our add on and it was super yummy!! it had rice cakes, an egg, and fish cakes, but i would definitely add noodles next time. it didn't taste like most tteokbokkis i've had in the past but it was the perfect amount of sweet and savory. the cheese was so delicious it was the right amount of creamy and spicy!! we only ordered 2 entrees but it could honestly be enough for a party of 5. i would definitely go again

Yelp
Food: good solid Korean dishes; Bibimbap (Mixed Vegetable Rice), Bibim-nengmyun (Spicy Cold Buckwheat Noodle), Jajangmyun (Black Bean Noodle), Kimchi Fried Rice, Fried Chicken & Kimchi Pancake Service: I ordered to go and it took about 20 min and they even called me to let me know when it was ready, while I shopped at the Vons market nearby Design: interiors is a simple clean look with wood & black vinyl banquettes with electric cooktops on the dining tables with stainless steel hoods over every table Overall: if you want a good variety of Korean dishes, this place has it all and is at a good quality

Yelp
Big Korean Rice debut with a soft opening. This place indeed has a lot of rice dishes, just like the name of the restaurant. There are a variety of different dishes but not the typical tofu pot and BBQ you find in most Korean restaurants around the area. The service is excellent. The server is very attentive and friendly. He also returns a couple of times to offer more side dishes. The side dishes are seaweed with carrots, bean sprouts, and kimchi. I feel the price is a bit high but it is definitely a common phenomenon in the food industry. I don't blame them. However, most items are all over 10 dollars on the menu. Some are over 15 dollars. Let's start with our least favorite for today's dinner, kimchi fried rice. It LOOKS really good with a perfect over-easy egg on top of the delicious-looking kimchi fried rice. However, it is indeed a little on the greasy side. So I wouldn't recommend it for elders and anyone with any health issues. Korean fried glasses noodles taste pretty decent. The carrots, onions, mushrooms, and slices of beef are all pretty delicious along with the glasses noodles. The bulgogi rice bowl is a very simple choice for any meat lover. It comes with bulgogi and plain steamed rice. Now, let's end with our favorite dish for the night, bulgogi fried rice. The taste is amazing and the texture of fried rice is perfect. The fried rice is mixed with chopped pieces of carrots, peas, and onions with a delicious taste of sesame oil and garlic mixture. This dish is highly recommended.

Yelp
I saw this restaurant in Temple City when I was living in the area but never tried it. I saw that they just opened one in my new city so decided that I was going to give it a go. So glad I did! I asked the girl working behind the counter for recommendations and got almost everything she suggested. Food is yummy! Mostly bulgogi/beef in the dishes, and my family enjoyed it all (with the exception of me picking out all the beef). We had: 1) Bulgogi Rice Bowl - good but my kids said the bulgogi was tough to chew 2) Kimchi Fried Rice - we all liked this. I think they put chunks of spam in it. 3) Jajangmyum - a dry noodle served with shredded cucumber and a savory brown sauce. It reminds me of a Chinese noodle dish. Super yummy. 4) Korean Glass Noodle - aka Japchae. Tasty, although a bit on the saltier side. But delish none the less. 5) Cold Noodle - buckwheat noodle served with a cold broth and slides of beef, Korean pear, pickles, and boiled egg. This was my first time trying this and I really enjoyed it! I wasn't sure if I would like cold noodle soup, but the flavor combo of sweet, savory, and pickles really tickled my fancy! 6) Fried chicken wings & legs (8 pcs) - Tender and juicy, fried to perfection. Would've liked it more if it was seasoned or had a sauce, but it was good chicken. Currently in the soft opening phase, looks like they have another section of seats that they will be using in the future. I am hoping that they include more chicken in their menu in the future, but otherwise, looking forward to dining here again!

Yelp
味道真心不错,没想到不吃辣的我也能接受, 是我喜欢的甜辣口味。鸡爪特别好吃入味,那个牛骨也特别好吃! The taste is really good, I didn't expect that I can accept it if I don't eat spicy food. It's my favorite sweet and spicy flavor. The chicken feet are very delicious, and the beef bone is also very delicious!

Yelp
This place has the absolute worst Korean food. Jiajang mein was gross and the seafood pancake was the worst I've ever had and hardly any seafood maybe some ground up octopus. Pls do not market yourself as authentic Korean food. I've never eaten at a restaurant and Not given a tip. I didn't tip here I hardly ate anything on my plate as I could not stomach to eat more than a quarter of it.

Yelp
Love their Pork neck bone stew!!! But they're not always available for some reason. Love to order takeout and about 30% of the time my order would be cancelled because they don't have pork neck bone stew. Their wings are really good too. They used to be soft which my husband prefers but now they're drier and a little bit crispy which I love. They have really good spicy seafood noodles too but we don't always get it because it's almost $20 a bowl. The price is too steep tbh.

Yelp
First time here food and service was amazing! Definitely worth checking out. The only thing I did not like were the fried dumplings but I think it was just me because my family enjoyed them.

Yelp
Only 2 of us. We ordered the Seafood Pancake $15.99 and the Bulgogi roll half $8.00. At first I thought why is the Korean Pancake so pricy but when it came I knew why. It was huge with lots of mixed seafood and really yummy dipping sauce. The bulgogi roll was good too and came the red Korean sauce. We were given 3 sides. Cucumber, kimchi, and seaweed. The first two were my favorite.

Yelp
* Jajangmyun: sauce was a little watery. noodles were qq. * Spicy Pork Rice Bowl: pork belly was very spicy. needed the white rice to balance out the spiciness. - nothing spectacular but gets the job done when you're craving Korean food - generous portion enough to feed 2 people - comes with refillable radish, kimchi, and kimchi cucumber side dishes

Yelp
Food was decent besides the Kim chi fried rice made with kimchi that went bad. I know it's fermented and sour naturally, but I've eaten kimchi and kimchi fried rice thousands of time and none tasted rancid. The kimchi they gave on the side was fine, the one used in the fried rice has to be old. We told the waiter at the end of the meal as the whole portion was still there. He took it back as if he was gonna remake it but we said we didn't want it remade as we didn't want to risk it again. He didn't offer a refund. With that we omitted the tip to make up for the $14 we wasted. The seafood pancake was delicious, and my son enjoyed his bulgogi bowl. I left 2 start however for the bad fried rice and no refund offered. I won't be returning as there are too many other Korean restaurants to dine at that would have treated this situation differently.

Yelp
Forget whatever your Korean mom taught you in the kitchen. This Korean Army Stew tasted like a tomato based Korean seasoning or marinade gumbo, spaghetti bowl, especially with its spicy links. The consistency of the soup or marinade is as thick as Sunny D. I drank it. It was SO delicious! It's called the Korean Army Stew. The Korean American Army stew? I don't know. Anyways. This serving was so generous! (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/big-rice-korean-cuisine-walnut?select=U1NMU3VwDOk-JVW_cgKtYQ&utm_campaign=www_photo_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) ; https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/big-rice-korean-cuisine-walnut?select=PC1ac2r96H-E8Z3BVE3QbA&utm_campaign=www_photo_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) ) There wasn't a piece of anything in there that I found easy to put into my mouth. The pieces of tofu were as big as pita chips. It was great!!!!!!!! I had two large containers to take it home. And I mean larger than the dinner platter black container clear plastic lid containers that you are now getting at any major restaurant chain. I'm not sure if it's still priced the same as it is on the menu, as it might have been priced higher when I went and I also went during the evening. Everything I ate was so delicious. So every time that I went to Yoshinoya and wanted a beef bowl and received the beef bowl that I ordered, I expected to taste the Bulgogi rice bowl. The Bulgogi rice bowl is so simple like Yoshinoya. It's a very lean serving of meat and the marinade resembles a tea. There wasn't any oil dripping from this tea. It's like you're drinking water. The Fried Chicken W & L (8 pcs)! Not a fan of chicken wings. My sister ordered them. Are these really chickens? I've seen chicken wings and they're usually a lot thinner than these. These were so plump and they were huge! The marinade was as if they completely mastered that honey bbq flavor from any chicken wing spot. It also sorta but not really resembled orange chicken. Whatever it was, it was incomparable to any other honey bbq marinade I have ever tasted. Besides that, there wasn't a part of the chicken skin, if there was even any skin on it, that felt like it. It seemed like the cook completely skinned the chicken wing and battered it thick to resemble skin and so every time that you bit into this heavily soaked, but not soggy, crust, all you had was nothing but delicious crust and chicken in your mouth, not some nerve, fat or cartilage, aside from skin that you didn't want. I think my sister ordered the Kimchi roll, which I thought was ok. It reminded me of an avocado roll that you get post gym or after some other eastern medicine treatment when you're attempting to detox to feel well. Very fresh and not marinated. Not sure why it is named Kimchi. The side dishes, e.g. bean sprouts, seaweed and cabbage, that were served soaked in Kimchi, weren't like any other Kimchi marinated dish because unlike the Kimchi that I have had on at least over fifteen occasions, this one omitted a certain ingredient and had something like a sweeter base to it, but not one that is overwhelming, similar to a white wine without being fragrant or standing out. Go! It's the best! I went and had the same type of stew and soup in Koreatown several times and it's not the same. It's like having what someone's second generation grand kid reinvented for their restaurant. It's SO good.

Yelp
I don't remember the best naeng myun I've ever had in my life but I do remember the worst naeng myun because I've had it today. While it certainly did look like the dish, it did not taste anything like it at all. In fact, it tasted like 7up with buckwheat noodles.

Yelp
Second times the charm. Ordered delivery, but knew how to order and what not to order again (fried chicken). This time went with the fried squid and that was fire. A little sorry from the drive, but tasty none the less. The jajiangmyun and bulgogi fried rice were both very delicious and hit the spot.

Yelp
JUST OK Here's the lowdown on this new Korean Restaurant. Food is just ok but there is room for improvement. We ordere the following: 1. Tangsuyuk - it tasted good but I could tell the pork was not fried fresh. It does not compare to the tangsuyuk of Paik's Noodle in Buena Park 2. Jajangmeon - this one tasted more like a vegetarian dish. No pieces of meat was seen or tasted. Don't get me wrong. The dish is well seasoned. However, I still prefer my jajangmeon with pieces of meat like how it is in most places I have been to. Again, Paik's Noodle in Buena Park is the leading one for me. 3. Korean Seafood Pancake - very eggy and has a lot of onion. I would probably order it again if I go back since I have tasted worse in other restaurants where the flour in the middle is not even cooked yet. 4. Fried Korean dumpling - bland and has very lean meat. Needing more seasoning and maybe some fat in the ingredients. When I had a first bite, I thought of cardboard texture when the filling reached my tongue. 5. Galbi Jjim (Braised Beef Rib) - nothing compared to the taste of the ones in Sun Nong Dan (Rowland Heights) & at Tang & Noodle TNN (Buena Park, TNN in Rowland Height has closed since the pandemic). In this one, I can taste more of the seasoning rather than the beef. It seems that there is also more sweetness. I like my braised beef with gravy like sauce while it is served boiling in a pot on top of a burner stove. The boneless pieces of meat are a few and are cut smaller. I would give a lot of credit for the presentation. The dish looks beautiful and very appetizing. My family and I may not be Koreans but we are foodie and drive as far as more than an hour to have a taste of really delicious Asian food.

Yelp
I really don't know there are all fake 5 stars reviews or what. But my own experience was so bad. I can see half of the restaurant is empty But they still need us wait an hour. The only appetizer is kimchi. Holy shit! You are THE ONLY ONE Korean restaurant has only one appet. I would say to who wants to go here: Go try it and give them real reviews.

Yelp
Got their galbi jjim and their chicken wings. Very yummy. Our waiter was very attentive, Big Rice makes their own rice wine and we got to sample it! Very delicious! As of May 10, 2023 they are having a Mother's Day promotion on the galbi jjim. We got it no spicy, it was good but I wish they cut the ribs into smaller pieces and the potatoes into smaller pieces as well.

Yelp
Food is so good, price is amazing especially in this economy. We got eel over rice and undo combo and it was such a yummy hearty meal. The lady waitressing is so sweet and attentive, absolutely recommend!!

Yelp
Food is decent for being one of the only non kbbq or tofu house spots in the area they actually have good Korean dishes but I've definitely have had better elsewhere. Also HUGEEEE disappointing moment when I once ordered online directly on their website and came to pick it up they said they never received the order even though I received a text and email confirmation with pick up times and had to wait an additional 25 minutes for my order to be made. Would I come back again? Yes but only when I'm desperate for Korean food and when I'm too lazy to drive far....

Yelp
We used to go to the one in Rosemead a lot, but they just closed down! This one is a little far and out of the way, but we were in the area. A lot bigger and nicer! However, sent yesterday for lunch...and everything was sold out? LOL I came here for Korean army stew and Kim bap...both "sold out?" I mean, I don't think it was just for the day either, we went early for lunch at 1? So looked at menu for another 5 minutes, wanted jjampong, turns out that was sold out too. LOL at this point, we were just flustered? Waitress said they needed new menus, so no longer carried those items. We ended up getting kimchi pancake, kimchi stew, and sweet & sour pork. Ended up being really good actually, strew was huge and just delicious. Really generous with meat and everything. I would just skip on the sweet and sour pork Banchan is amazing. We used to go to other location a lot for just the sides, tastes the same. Seaweed, kimchi, & beansprouts were all delish. Servers were really attentive and refilled banchan and water right away. Besides the menu being a little sparse, I would come back!

Yelp
This is my second time eat in Big rice. It is very tasty, as a yanji people. They did a very good job.
