AVOID! I ordered a custom cake for my company via Big Sugar's form. I told them my budget was $100 for the smallest burn away cake they offer. They told me they could do it, but for only $116. When I went to pick it up, they told me there was a mix up on their end and they made the cake a few days ago but it would "still be good" and the burn away section on top was so bubbly and old they had to replace it when I came to pick it up. While I was waiting I noticed on their menu board that the smallest custom cake started at $50...Interesting. I didn't think the cake looked professional but if it tasted good that was all that mattered. The person next to me SPIT OUT the piece of cake and said it was awful. Sadly I agreed, the frosting was basically frozen and the cake was dense and super dry. I am sooooo disappointed.

Visited Big Sugar Bakeshop totally randomly - we stopped at Salt & Straw next door for ice cream and I really wanted a vegan chocolate chip cookie to go along with my ice cream soooo decided to pop in to check if Big Sugar Bakeshop had some! What a pleasant surprise. They did have vegan chocolate chip cookies - WIN! We walked out with my cookie, Oreo brownie, strawberry lemonade bar, and a coconut cupcake. Everyone enjoyed their baked goodies enough for a future visit. Not an inexpensive place but worthwhile to stop in for a treat. The ladies working were very nice and they have fun merch to browse! Yelp also has a check-in offer for a free coffee ;)

It all started when I had to place a last minute order in. It was just 3 days before my daughters birthday and I inquired through email. Not only were they quick with a response they helped me stay within my budget and through the whole 3 days of email communication they made sure the cake was ready for pickup on Sunday and I was impressed! My girls loved the cake(confetti with strawberry butter creme filling) . It was very beautiful and sweet! First birthday in California and this business was on top with working with me. When I couldn’t make it to the shop to pay upfront before they closed they were convenient with their invoice online! Just a great experience and no disappointment what so ever! From reaching out to them on the 7th to sending my husband for pick up on the 10th it was all a 5 star experience! I’ll forever do business with this bake shop ! Much love!

Google
The most delicious custom cakes, cupcakes, and baked goods. This cake (with a photo of my dog) was salted caramel and chocolate. The cupcakes were for another occasion, my friend’s birthday. Beautiful customization. Both were heavenly!

I absolutely love this bakery! They participated in Mrs. Mazel day and I've been going back for delicious cupcakes ever since! I ordered a vegan chocolate cake with vegan buttercream frosting and it is fantastic! They are WONDERFUL here !!!

Google
TLDR: It comes down to communication and making the wrong order and leaving us in a bind as the shop pushed back the pick up time, leaving us with no options. Full details: Order was put in well in advance and as written on the sheet; clearly states: No décor necessary; can be plain chocolate. Now, why write this negative review; it comes down to communication. When the staff arrived this morning; they made no attempt to contact us that the order was wrong. We phoned to confirm our pick up and they asked us if we could come 2 hours later to pick up; but they didn’t inform us why or give any hints. When we came 2 hours later; nothing was mentioned other than handing us the box; which as you can see is very colorful and extremely decorated. As nothing was mentioned by the staff… we had to inquire; why was the order decorated differently than ordered; and why was it never mentioned this morning on the phone or when handing over the items when the order clearly states plain. The excuses given were not reasonable (didn’t read instructions). That’s not a valid excuse with an order placed well in advance. And it’s not reasonable to never bring it up when we phoned or when we picked them up in person. While we were given a refund; the 1 star rating is for poor communication; leaving us in a bind by pushing back the order window with no other options from them. No apology; other than ‘so we want to confirm you are rejecting this order’. Word of caution for future orders. Confirm what you want; call them and confirm with them verbally the order was done right. And maybe triple confirm that. Wouldn’t want others left delayed by this shop due to their poor communication.

Big Sugar is my absolute favorite bakery in LA. Only 2 tiny shops. And yes I tried Magnolia and almost every other recommended place. Not even close. Today they had my favorite cupcake. Strawberry shortcake. Vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream in the center, and a whipped cream frosting. To die for. As are all of their cupcakes and cakes.

Google
The negative reviews are on point, The cake is terrible. The frosting looks awful and the communication with the bakery itself was the worst (classic response "it was my fault I didn't understand the invoice"). They sell you one thing and then provide you with something else, and on top of everything else it was late. Just go somewhere else. Save your time and energy of having to dispute it with the bank.

Yelp
NOOOOOO! I stopped by since it's been a while, eager to have some of my favorite cupcakes. However upon walking up, I see boxes for a different, familiar bakery in the window. This was not a good thing. Upon walking in, I had to ask if I was seeing things, and the girl behind the counter confirmed they were now Sweet Lady Jane as of a few days ago. I was devastated. One of my favorites has now become one of my least favorites. I continued to look around to see what they had on offer, and the girl offered assistance if I had any other questions which I appreciated; my last go at a Sweet Lady Jane had awful service, so this was going a little better already. As much as I didn't want to give in, there was one last vanilla cupcake, and I regretted the $7. Later on, I have to admit this was definitely fresh (not dry at all which is a plus) but the flavor was just alright. Beautifully decorated, but that's pretty much where it ends. I am pleased to say the service was the standout here, but I'm comparing it to years ago at a different location. Regardless, I'm still going to miss Big Sugar Bakery, and will have to look for a new favorite.

Yelp
Perfect execution. Picked up monster of a cake for my niecelet's birthday without a hitch. The nice ladies at the store packed it up nicely and quick to help. Parking is awful, but that's to be expected in that part of town...on Sunday, on St. Patrick's day... I digress. The cake was f'n delicious.

Yelp
Big Sugar Bakeshop was my local bakery for many many years. I was always happy with every single item that I purchased from this store. I recently was about to make a purchase and noticed they were no longer accepting orders via the delivery apps. I live in the area and drive by to see the new sign at the location for another bakery. I will be sad to have such a wonderful bakery leave my community. I'm giving them 5 stars because they were always the best!! I hope that in the future they continue to succeed.
google avatar

Chynna M.

Yelp
I usually go to the one in DTLA (which I gave 5 stars) I'll start by saying I'm giving 3 stars only because they are open 7 days a week, have a friendly staff and the Oreo brownie was moist and delicious. I usually order custom cakes but decided to give the cupcakes a try for Mother's Day. I had multiple flavors red velvet, vanilla, lemon raspberry, chocolate, birthday cake along with a couple others. They were definitely dry and the pound cake was too. Even though I did spend over $100 i rather just grab some from sprinkles I'm too embarrassed to take the rest to my family tomorrow so I'll just throw them in the garbage.

Yelp
Yep, I was an idiot. DoorDash had a big sale for this place so I took a chance - two cupcakes and two sugar cookies. To recap: First time I ordered from here was excellent - everything fresh and fine. Second time, less so. Third time, horrible. This is absolutely the fourth and last time. The two cupcakes were stale and the sugar cookies were also stale. NOTHING was freshly made, clearly. Two hours later, I'm nauseous as can be, and if this turns into food poisoning, here's what's gonna happen. I will go to the store in Studio City and I will vomit up these things onto their floor. Also, any review from 2007 is not for this location. I don't think they've been in Studio City for more than two or three years. The one-star ratings are accurate and I'm happy to add this third review and join them. Order at your own peril. I may stop by there anyway, just to call them out on their disgusting, stale items. I'm also going to find the corporate offices since this is a chain and they will get an earful. Blechhh from the likes of me. Edit: I was contacted by them and they refunded me my DoorDash order, so props for that.

Yelp
The lemon bars had a bad smell! Like a dog smell! I will never buy from there again! Had it delivered from Uber Eats.

Yelp
I am obsessed with their Seasonal cakes. They are so freaking cute! (You must order these in advance) Outside of holidays, I am addicted to their Bacon cheddar scones. Great go-to for birthday cakes as well. While you should order in advance, you can also just walk in and they usually have a cake or 2 set aside. Custom Image cookies- these look good, but they aren't the tastiest.

Yelp
SO SO GOOD! I placed a last minute custom order only 3 days prior for a corporate baby shower and they came through on the clutch. My team LOVED the cupcakes and cake pops. Everything was decorated just the way I requested (very minimal/general pink and gold colors - mixed flavors) and the customer service was great! I forgot the name of the woman who assisted me over the phone but she was very sweet and accommodating, especially for a Monday pick-up as most bakery's are closed on Monday. I can't say the customer service was the same from the bakery I called before this one but the lady's tone was so trash - calling Sugar Bakeshop was a breath of fresh air. If I'm paying my money ANYWHERE, customer service has to be on point. I will definitely be returning! They did not disappoint.

Yelp
Honestly... the gluten free vanilla cake... if you're a fat kid who loves cake you're in a lot of trouble. A LOT. It's basically a wedding cake and the decadence is so fully embraceable that a quarter of the cake is gone and your teeth hurt before you realize it's time to stop.

Yelp
We've always had a good experience at this bake shop. The cupcakes and cakes are delicious, and maybe most importantly reasonably priced. We usually come here four cupcakes or cakes for someone's birthday party. The first time we came I was worried everything would be ridiculously expensive. Thankfully that has not been the case. The cakes in particular I think are very reasonably priced, and the cupcakes are as well. They have a good assortment of cupcakes to choose from; chocolate, vanilla, birthday, red velvet, including some vegan and gluten free options. They also have some other baked goodies like donuts as well. There is only street parking, but you can also park behind Starbucks a half block over and walk from there. Overall, it's pretty convenient, especially for where it's located. Big recommendation for this place and we'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Their cupcakes and cakes are generally good. The last cake I got tasted dry and stale. The service is as bad as it gets. I bought a Neapolitan small cake for my daughter's birthday and made it clear that it would be kept in the fridge for a day. They gave me a "box" made out of other boxes. And left the sides open. See picture. When they handed it to me, I asked about the open sides and they added clear wrap. My husband asked about the wrapping and they said, "box is complimentary. Also, it's year-end so supplies are back-ordered."

Yelp
Always in search of local eatery even when I'm on a road trip. This cute little spot, darkish but delicious. Offering the feel of home baked goods, including vegan. Cupcakes, cookies, bars. Greeted with warm greetings. He was struggling a little, (suspecting he was very new), but he did great!

Yelp
I have been a customer for over 7 years. I have only ordered the vegan cake or cupcakes. This is the first occasion where I ordered a custom vegan cake, (for my daughter's college graduation party). I ordered over the phone, first mistake. I explained I wasn't to picky on color as we were not doing school colors. I only request for the top of the cake have graduation hat and my daughters name and she could decorate the rest of the cake with any design. I was told the name may not fit on top because of space but could place it somewhere else. I was ok with that. I pick up the cake the day of the party, I immediately say "I don't like it". Her response, you said the name plaque could go anywhere(i did but what about the rest of the cake) walks away and ask a young man to box up cake. I'm fuming. All I see is a black ball on top with square on top, which is supposed to be a graduation hat(made of cardboard) once in my car i called, the young man that boxed my cake answered. I explain my frustration, his excuse, "there are not a lot of vegan options when it comes to sprinkles and frosting",etc for decorating a vegan cake. No one mentioned that to me. The regular vegan cake is $50. I paid $92 for a custom graduation cake. I ask to have a manager call me. The next day comes, no call. I call and was told they were busy no manager was available. I speak with a supervisor briefly before being placed on hold for 7 minutes. She was apologetic but not helpful. She takes my name for manager to call. Next day no call. I call back Jessica, another supervisor takes my call. I repeat my issue again. She confirms my contact info and previous notes that were taken. She said manager/owner is out of town but will follow up. The next day I receive a vm from Jessica that the owner is not going to refund or discount my order because I didn't give them a picture to go on. As a customer for over 7 years who is not valued, this is not the place for me. I will never order from them again

Yelp
They make delivery drivers wait 30+ minutes to pick up their order. They claim because it's cake which is still not a reason for such wait. They tell you it'd be 10-15 minutes which is still a long wait considering the delivery drivers are not hourly workers and don't have more than 5-10 minutes to waste on an order. Don't promise a time you can not deliver.

Yelp
Update: I received an apology tonight and a full(!) refund. If you do visit them, I recommend the Blonde Brownie. That was my favorite. ------- This review doesn't cover the taste of the food, we haven't eaten any of it yet. (Update: While I was typing this, someone did eat a cupcake and declared it "tasty.") But the experience was already enough of a bummer to let me know I'm not going to ordering online. I ordered a number of items yesterday on their website. Problem #1: I didn't complete the order within 10 minutes so it wiped out the entire order and I had to try again. Problem #2: Their online vendor thinks it's some social service and signed me up for emails and created a profile. No thank you. Problem #3: When I arrived, they could not find my order. Eventually they realized it was an online order and that they hadn't been notified. They brought the laptop up to the front of the store and started to fill the order. Problem #4: The cupcake I ordered was last month's special (website was out of date?) and so not available. Problem #5: Two more of the items I ordered were sold out for the day. Not once did they actually say "I'm sorry" and surprisingly, didn't even suggest "Maybe we can give you something extra to make up for it?" Since one of the items was for someone's birthday and something they really wanted, I had to go to a second bakery. So hopefully the food is good, but based on this experience, I don't think I'd order online again. Buying in person is probably fine, it is a neat store that gave me Harry Potter vibes.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Their baked goods taste great and I'd love to support a small business, but I am extremely disappointed in the size and price of an item I ordered through Postmates. I ordered the "Frosted Big Sugar Cookie", which was $5.95. The item that arrived was smaller than the palm of my hand and frosted came off in transit. It still tasted fine, but it seems like a steep price for a small cookie. I wish they disclosed this in the description because the picture on the app is deceiving.

Yelp
I ordered a Boston Cream Pie from Big Sugar. On the phone they were charming. Jean, with whom I spoke, said "There's chocolate ganache on top." A couple of days after ordering, I called and asked if there was chocolate frosting around the whole cake. Jean said "that's not how Boston Cream Pies are made." I said "That's how they're made everywhere else." I asked if they would go ahead and add chocolate frosting around the whole cake. She said "no." When I picked up the cake there was chocolate covering most of the top and none anywhere else. I told Jean at the time, "You've ruined my birthday. I enjoy the mix of the cake, cream and chocolate. I won't be back." Jean did not say "sorry" or anything else. So I left.

Yelp
Placed an order a day ahead of time, they sold out and simply cancelled my order. When I called, she said she was sorry, that is was a busy day , and blamed the Uber eats app....but, my guess is she didn't look at her online orders and just ignored me because it was easy to cancel. So much for the birthday cake I ordered, I'll find a more reliable vegan bakery for my future needs.

great customer service and delicious cupcakes. the icing is top tier, by far some of the best I've ever had. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I can't write this review based on the baked goods, but I've heard they are delicious. The reason is because I used UberEats to order from Big Sugar Bakeshop and deliver to a friend for his birthday during the Covid-19 lockdown. On the app, I entered delivery instructions for the Uber delivery driver hoping my friend would just see the receipt printed "Happy Birthday! Love Jake." The bakery staff saw my note and took it upon themselves to wrap the package in a nice bow and event wrote out my note on a handwritten card. Very rare that someone goes that extra mile when they certainly don't have to, and it provided a very nice touch to a food delivery app order. I was very pleased with this care and attention to detail. THANK YOU!

Jim C.

Yelp
They are one of the few places in The Valley that make gluten-free and vegan selections. When I went in to order, the person behind the counter was not terribly friendly, however when I went back to pick up my order there was a different employee who was very nice. They have a good product though and one scowling person won't change that.

Yelp
Thank you to the owner for reaching out and apologizing for my experience with her driver. I very much appreciate the acknowledgment and wish her well with her bakery.

Yelp
Stopped at Big Sugar Bakeshop on Ventura Blvd today. Got a gingerbread cupcake. The cupcake was very nicely packed in a little plastic fitted container so the cupcake and its frosting would arrive safely wherever it was going. It was very good. There were all sorts of other good looking things in the display cases.

James A.

Yelp
This is my go-to spot for mini cupcakes or very nice cakes. The prices are pretty high, so don't expect your typical bakery price points. The mini cupcakes come in chocolate, French vanilla, and red velvet. They make for a nice bday present if you want something that can give everyone a bite. The service is fine and they have some cute collectibles for those who are into it.

Yelp
I've been coming to Big Sugar for 11 years and I have to say all their cakes have made our celebrations just that much more memorable. They are really busy so I just find it easier to order online and it is an easy pick up! Thank you for always making our special day sweet! Here are some photos throughout the years we've ordered. They range from wedding, birthday, celebration, and monthly special cakes!

Yelp
This once great bake store and cupcake maker has fallen into a new low with a filthy store that looks like someone is attempting to deliberately go out of business. The store is often out of cupcakes without any lights on, and dusty, empty shelves that used to have cute merchandise.. it seems someone bought the store that has no idea what they're doing.

Yelp
OK, seriously, I just stuffed this little cupcake into my small mouth and it was one of the best things I have eaten since mail order cookies. It was someone's birthday at work today. And, I'm an opportunist, so I usually check the kitchen to see if there are any sugary leftovers for me to vulture on. Sure enough, about 30 min later, leftover cupcakes appear on the table. It was so hard to choose, from the pretty pink frosting, the carrot cake, the chocolate, the vanilla...so I opted for the peanut butter one thinking...well peanut butter is healthy (cognitive dissonance mind). Well. I took one bite of this thing and what a freakin surprise...JELLY was inside it. This cupcake was PERFECT! Not synthetically, chemically sweet. It was flavorful with an elegant amount of sugar in it. YUM OMFG, what a creative and tasty little cupcake. The breading was so fluffy, and perfectly moist. You know, not that doughy, over-sugared moist, but a "Grandma's baking out of scratch in the kitchen moist." This definitely made the afternoon of being stuck in my tiny cubicle A LOT better! Boy, do I wanna see what other flavors this place has up its sleeve! Thank you to whoever had the birthday at my work. Thank you to whoever picked this place to get the cupcakes. Thank you to the baker. But most importantly, thank you to the people who were trying to be healthy and not eat sweets so that I can indulge in my gluttony and get my sticky fingers on this!

Yelp
So disappointing. First they quoted me an astronomical price for a kid's birthday cake. Like $1000 for 25 people. I didn't spend that on my wedding cake. They came down in price once they realized I didn't live in a gated community on the hill. I went back and forth for a bit. The kicker was I still paid over $350. It was custom, but the look was amateurish. The kid who made it must have been a fill in - I don't even think he was out of high school. That's awesome to give opportunities like that but then don't charge artisan prices for apprentices. The large, round cake was so tall it was impossible to cut. The pieces as a result were so tall and thin they looked stupid and fell off the plate. And it came out under-cooked. Stay away from the Oreo. Too much dark chocolate, not enough creme...one rude little "F" er shouted out "It tastes like play dough!" I've tasted play dough, too, Buddy. He wasn't wrong. Stick to Vons or Whole Foods at these prices!

Yelp
Crumbl who!? After deeply craving cookies for months I finally tried Big Sugar. wow! the sugar cookies with the frosting are legit my favorite cookie I have ever had.

Yelp
BEWARE! Took my money and never delivered my cake. I can honestly say that I've never had such an inexcusably pour experience with a business. I ordered my birthday cake 2 months in advance. Paid for it in full. The day of my birthday party, they call and say they are running behind and could I pick it up at 5pm instead of 12. Pretty inconvenient, but I agreed. When I got there at 5pm, they said they needed 30 more minutes. What? I wait. I knock on the door at 5:30pm and their bakery door is locked. LOCKED!... on a Saturday. They call me and say "it's just not ready yet. We had 2 people call out sick and it's been a rough day." And then proceeded to tell me they could drop the cake off and deliver to the restaurant we were having the party at which was about 2 miles away. I agreed. We arrive at the restaurant only to have no cake, no call from Big Sugar, zero communication from them AT ALL. It would have been a totally different experience had they been honest but offered a replacement or reimbursement or SOMETHING but I have yet to be contacted or reimbursed. Susie Cakes would NEVER! This supremely pour customer service really trumped any experience I have ever had with a business. Take your business elsewhere. It's really a shame bc I would have shouted them from the rooftops had they come through. Shame on you guys.

Kathryn R.

Yelp
Service is not great. I had a pickup order from their online menu which wasn't available when I arrived. They hadn't baked what I ordered and tried to substitute with something else when I arrived. Cashier was very rude and sarcastic as I was leaving the store.

Yelp
I've gotten a few Big Sugar Bakeshop items for various events (birthdays, bridal shower, etc.) They never miss!! Always looking spectacular and tasting just as amazing. And their turnaround time is very impressive. Highly recommend calling multiple days ahead for special orders, but they are so great at working with whatever you need. Also just tried their gluten free chocolate cupcakes for the first time recently, and they taste so good you wouldn't know they're GF.

Yelp
Simply the best bakery in Studio City. Delicious baked goods, incredibly friendly staff and great service!

Yelp
GLUTEN FREE AMAZING TASTING CAKE! Check this place out for gluten free options!! We ordered a birthday cake for my nieces 21st Birthday and it did not disappoint, the cake was beautiful and tasted so good. The prices are reasonable and the staff was so helpful and informative. We will definitely be coming back for gluten free options as well as non gluten free.

Yelp
I dropped the ball on my daughter's cake. I admit it. I contacted Big Sugar Bakeshop and they said, "No problem." I provided them a very simplified picture of a cake for a D&D party. We spoke over the phone about flavoring and they made sure that I not only got the look I was hoping for but the flavoring as well. What was delivered far exceeded my expectations. They added an amazing dragon on the message plate! But this cake was about more than looks. It was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend Big Sugar Bakeshop to anyone looking for a quality cake from people who really love baking!

Yelp
The cupcakes are...fine. Was excited to support a local place as our first cupcake purchase in this area and was left very underwhelmed. Choices are fairly normal, which is actually great bc you can go and get what most people request. All the standard options. But they are dry and seemed to be day old. Or just all over baked. We tried 4 different options and all were the same. My husband, whose birthday I got them for, said they tasted like box made cupcakes cooked a bit too long. The red velvet frosting doesn't taste authentic either. Maybe it's cream cheese frosting? I don't know though. If it was it wasn't good cream cheese frosting. Sad to say we won't be back.

Yelp
I ordered a cake for my daughters birthday and some cupcakes. My order was substituted and they refused to compensate. Do not use them.

Yelp
Coffee cake was delicious, definitely worth trying. Will be coming back to try other pastries.

Yelp
Their cakes and cupcakes and ding-dongs - 5 STARS! Ordering custom cakes - 1 star. We have been trying to get a quote and order a custom cake for my birthday. After their initial email we responded with our reference pic and flavors. No response. My husband has called 3 times, he even went to the shop in person to try and talk to someone. We can't get get ahold of anyone to get a quote and proceed with our order. Too bad bc price is no object and I had my heart set on using them. I tried to get a quote for a cake for my son's birthday in the spring and same issue. Just can't get a response from Nally. TL/DR: Non-communicative, unresponsive. Only use them if you're picking up something ready-made.

Yelp
This review is way overdue in 2017 I trusted my husband to be in charge of our cake. He found Big Sugar Bakeshop and I should've never went anywhere else. I just returned this week for a Birthday cake and they've won my business forever. I'll never try another bakery as long as I'm here in the San Fernando valley.

Yelp
Big sugar bake shop is awesome! I placed my friends cake order for her 50th birthday and it was a hit with everyone! They did a photo cake and cupcakes. Love that they have vegan options too so I ordered a mix of vegan and non vegan cupcakes! I wish I took a photo of it to share! If you want a high quality cake and cupcakes do yourself a favor and order from Big Sugar Bakery! I have to say their red velvet cupcakes are by far my favorite out of all other bake shops! :) They also have a great selection of candles and birthday cake toppers.

Yelp
I posted a review that I deleted because I wanted to give the shop an opportunity to make things right with me. It has been 8 days since my initial contact attempt and 5 since I wrote them back and took down my original review. I am extremely unhappy with their communication and they don't seem to understand what a loss and heartbreak it was to receive a destroyed cake on my wedding day. I spent $400 on a sheet cake and two dozen cupcakes, two hours before the event the order arrived missing half of the cupcakes which were for my guests with dietary needs. I will give them credit for rushing over the missing cupcakes. However, when I opened the box for the sheet cake which had been placed in the delivery drivers trunk and driven up a canyon, I saw that the flimsy box it was placed in had smashed the frosting in the corners and the top, the center of the cake had slightly caved in, and my friends had to immediately try to help me smooth out the frosting . We attempted to decorate it with flowers but when it came time for serving the cake we did not take photos or cut the cake as a couple, it was too embarrassing and looked totally unprofessional. I had my servers cut the cake and serve it. This is when I discovered that the berry cake that I ordered and paid an $80 upgrade for had maybe a cup of berries in the whole cake. Most slices had one to two blueberries inside of them. This was a complete disaster, I did not need this stress during the party I planned and waited for for a long time. The owner offered to reimburse me for the berries or make me a new cake, but I am not having another wedding, this was my only one. I understand being short staffed and being away from the office, but there is no excuse for delivering a wedding cake in this condition. I am a small business owner myself so I know these reviews can be painful but I do not want this to happen to another bride, or a children's birthday party or any special event for anyone!

Yelp
This place has the best baked goods in Studio City! I've been ordering on Postmates for years and have gotten everything from cupcakes to birthday cakes and brownies and everything in between! The seven layer bars are to die for. I finally came in to the store a few weeks ago as I was in the area. The staff was friendly and the shop was clean! The older woman was really kind and helpful. She was very sweet and reminded me of my grandmother who I haven't seen in a while, which is always nice. My boyfriend and friends all know that if I need to be cheered up for any reason, this is the place to get me my sweets lol. If you've never tried this place, this is your sign!

Yelp
Was looking for a fun birthday cake without going totally custom and came across their Neapolitan cake on the website. It's perfect, each flavor is great and the strawberry part is super yummy. The 9" cake is tall and dense. I love cake and never get the small size but this one seriously needs at least 10 cake loving adults or like 20 kids. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is the first time I visited Big Sugar Bakery and it was wonderful. The Halloween cupcakes were absolutely amazing art and fresh. I highly recommend.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. Shortly after I originally wrote my review I contacted my credit company to dispute this charge, as the owner of Big Sugar Bakeshop suggested because she didn't want to refund me more than the $100 she offered. I spoke to two different people and they both said they do not operate in this fashion, and suggested the owner has to know this and that's why she recommended me dealing with my credit card instead. I wasted an hour and a half being on hold and speaking to representatives who consistently told me the same thing. So I contacted Mary, the owner, and told her the situation and asked if she would refund the original amount of $100 that she offered me and I would reinstate my review on Yelp. Instead of finding a solution (which she seems to have a hard time doing. It seems as though if she doesn't agree with something she won't compromise after an initial try, which is bizarre as a business owner of a bakery) she said that my Yelp review was hurtful and that she doesn't understand why the credit card wouldn't do anything. Then she ignored my emails and attempt at a resolution. She said she handled this situation professionally which couldn't be farther from the truth. LA has an amazing array of incredible bakeries. Do not waste your money here. Mediocre offerings, despicable service and management with prices that do not reflect their products.

Yelp
If you're a person of color or an immigrant (like me) be prepared to be ignored... if you're white enjoy the respect, regard and good service they give... Stood there for close to 10 minutes with no acknowledgement and then when a white person comes in, then they finally say hi and send a person over to help... The person they sent over to "help" was wildly indifferent and bitterly charming (if you like snark)... I then got talked to in a tone of voice an angry mother would talk to her kid in when her kid acts up.... And then OUT OF NO WHERE I got lectured on ordering procedures (I guess my "what the hell is going on here" eyes tipped them off)... After hearing them out, I politely smiled (granted you couldn't see it underneath my mask) and left... Totally got your message... and will make sure to come back there on days I'm less tanned or with a white friend for more credibility and love... Thank you for everything and nothing but the best
