The Best AYCE Restaurants In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Remember the Mongolian BBQ craze of the late 90s? If you miss it as much as we do, head to Big Wok in Manhattan Beach. The long-standing spot has the same setup as the chains did: you pick the type of bowl (ranging from $10 for kids to around $20 for a combo with rice and flatbread), then head up to the grill and tell the chef exactly what you want. Pick any combination of meat, vegetables, noodles, and sauces, and if you end up hating your creation, just head back up and try it again. And you know the rule—no leftovers taken home. $19.95 per person for lunch, $21.95 per person for dinner. Children under 12 are $11.95 at lunch, $13.95 at dinner." - garrett snyder, brant cox, cathy park, sylvio martins

Google
Mongolian BBQ has always been our favorite place to celebrate special occasions! The food is beyond delicious! All you can eat @ very reasonable price! 10 stars!

Google
I wanted to give it a try to this place and taking into account that I follow a low carb "pseudo-keto" diet I wanted to take the risk. So this was a good choice y'all, as long as you DO NOT add any noodles to your order you are low carb and almost gluten free. They have a good meat selection, vegetables are fresh and good selection as well. You need to be careful with the spices if you do not can't tolerate very hot sauce because you can get confused with the multiple options they have. Long story short I do recommend this place, either you're following a strict diet (you manage your portions) or have any food restrictions since you pick your own ingredients.

Google
It was good but nothing out of the ordinary .The service however was wonderful. I felt it was a little overpriced for Mongolian BBQ. Plus there was no seafood. I drove 50 minutes to have lunch with some friends. Don't think it's worth the drive, at least for me.

Dukwan Adderley

Google
It's a whole vibe and something so different for a nice date or family outting. Highly recommend. I'm going again tonight!

Google
I would come here for a special occasion due to how food served, it's pretty cool. Definitely not Halal or Kosher though. I think you can keep getting more food, but a plate is like $26. You get a bowl for meat and for vegetables and there are some sauces for flavoring before cooking. The food was good and we had some good conversations. They also only split bill 3 ways, so it's easier if one person pay bill and then group pays one person back.

Google
Fun all-you-can-eat DYI Mongolian BBQ concept. Go to the buffet bar and load up your bowl with your choice of meat and veggies and a separate bowl with noodles and your concoction of sauces. Hand them over to the chef and he'll grill it up for you on a huge Mongolian flat wok. Super kind and helpful lady helped me through the process and made sure I was being looked after. Not super busy on a weekday lunch visit. Great way to fill up with a healthy dose of veggies and protein without the hassle.

Google
This place is really tasty! I am enjoying this every bit of it. The food is pricey, but well worth it. Will definitely come back again.

Anthony Gomez

Google
I came in and got a little bit of every kind of meat and vegetables and sauces they had, huge variety of different veggies too! And the sauces they had were better and gave you more choices than other similar restaurants, I needed 3 bowls since each one was small lol One for meats, Veggies and noodles, they also came with free bread, free small tin of rice and fortune cookie, once I tried it the flavors blew me away! Definitely recommend! Definitely coming back

Yelp
I cannot stop coming here!!! Im 39 weeks pregnant and have been coming here consistently at least twice a month, biggest craving!!! I love that they are always stocked, never a long wait, food is always delicious, produce is fresh and the servers Sunny and Judy are amazing!!! Always greeting with a smile and service is top notch. These ladies are quick and super friendly, I recommend this place to everyone!! The chefs are amazing as well, always super polite. The restaurant is always clean I have never had any complaints, bathrooms are stocked and cleaned always.

Yelp
Every time I come in here I get better and better at making my bowl bomb! Recently I've only had to go from here and I'm hyped that it's still warm by the time I come home. It's hard to take the whole plate down cause I always end up with 1 plus pound of food so I make two meals out of them. Pro tip: add sauce generously for the best flavor.

Yelp
I've been frequenting Big Wok for a long time. Well before they moved down the street, and the experience has always been solid. Prices do continue to go up, but when you go all-you-can-eat, it can be worth it if you're hungry. The alternative is to do to-go, and they charge by weight. Either way, it's a pretty solid value. Also, if you're only going to eat vegetarian, just let them know and you'll save a bit on the bill. The nice thing about all-you-can-eat is that you don't need to try to cram everything you want in a single bowl to max out the value. Instead, you can do two+ bowls and combine them on the wok, or do multiple trips. The lines can get a bit long on evenings and weekends, but the food is good and the prices are reasonable. Quality is also pretty on-point. Pro tip: Get WAY more sauce than you think you'll need. A lot evaporates off during the cook, and the extra sauce adds a lot of flavor. We definitely enjoy comin here from time to time, and it always impresses.

Yelp
This place is a large, clean, and modern. This is an all you can eat Mongolian BBQ place. You can also order to go and make a plate to go as well. I used to go to their old location all the time and when I saw that they were open I was in disbelief! They apparently only closed for a few months and then reopened in this new place. The meat, veggies, and noodles are so fresh and delicious! I think it was about 30 dollars a person, and I feel it was well worth the price. I would recommend just making one bowls worth of food at a time since you can go back multiple times. I would also say for the sauces try just putting enough sauce for one bowl so you avoid it being too salty if you use multiple bowls for one plate. The service was good! We got there close to the ending of their lunch service. I cannot recommend this place enough! Make sure you have a healthy appetite when you get there! Also bring some cash to tip the cooks! Definitely come out, even out of your way to come and eat at this gem!

Yelp
Very friendly staff .. very friendly cooks., The usual Mongolian choices of meat, veggies, and toppings and sauces... disappointed that they had no dessert bar, fruit, ice cream or anything like that and most places have eggrolls are Wong tons. They do not have that for appetizers.
google avatar

Yelp
Came in on a weekday for lunch very excited for the $10.95 AYCE, but was surprised the prices have raised to $18.95. And don't get me wrong - that's absolutely acceptable, but they don't give you menus and the price isn't shown anywhere so a bit of a surprise when the check arrived. That aside - great selection of fresh food made to order with great service. Sesame bread and rice are served along with your entree and they have sambal to complement. Restaurant is big and getting seated is easy.

Yelp
Can't beat Big Wok for Mongolian BBQ, been going here 25+ years! Food is amazing, service top notch and always leave full with my favorite combo of meat, veggies and noodles.

Yelp
Love it here. Food is fresh. Service is great. Please tip the men grilling your food. They do a phenomenal job at cooking and standing in their feet all day without a break. They're amazing!!!! It's always busy but a great time each and every time I come here. Good for when you have a huge appetite!!

Yelp
Food, service, and ambiance are all great. i've been a handful of times for dine in and take out. the staff are friendly and quickly service you. the location is pretty clean which makes me comfortable to sit and eat inside. price is worth all the food you can get.

Yelp
Food: The food is your average mongolian BBQ WOK. I love Mongolian food, and I think the process is so cool. The flavors are incredible. However, i was unaware i had to create my own flavor with all the sauces to mix together so my first plate wasn't the best and lacked all flavor. I couldn't get the flavor I was looking for even after I asked for help. They did have a recommended mixed. However, it doesn't say what flavor it would make so tonmy fault I made my own flavor. My second plate was much better as I tripled all the recommended mixes. The spicy sauce is not spicy. They also don't have shrimp or fish. It's chicken, beef, or Lamb only. And it's all you can eat. The only thing that makes it not so great is that you have to know your sauce mixes. Otherwise, the food doesn't taste great and you can't enjoy it. Service: The staff is nice, the cooks ask you if it's to-go or stay and they will separate your food so nothing is overcooked which is great. Everyone is nice. Atmosphere: It's a really cool atmosphere, and everyone seems to enjoy themselves. It's a casual place with plenty of seating. Price: The price is good for all you can eat. Location: It's located in Manhattan Beach off Selpulveda Blvd. Great location with good views.

Yelp
Big Wok is great. Food is fresh, service is great, restaurant is clean, cooks are fast and friendly. All you can eat with fresh food and good selection of sauces. Parking is easy and area is clean. If you're hungry make sure you stop by and get your fill. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy!!!

Yelp
Please check your food if you are eating to go. I got my food to go and upon trying to take my first bite it was a long piece of black hair. I had to go back and tell them and they weren't very apologetic at all. She was very dismissive when she was processing the refund she just silently handed over the receipt it's not ok. If she's gonna be handling any type of food or utensils her hair needs to be up. I don't wanna include her Face but she's the only one with black hair that is not put up.

Yelp
Amazing food, fantastic service, and a touch of Mongolian chaos! Big Wok Mongolian BBQ is the perfect place to channel your inner Genghis Khan and conquer some serious hunger. The food is fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection right in front of you on that massive grill--it's like watching a Mongolian battlefield, but with veggies and noodles instead of horses and swords. The only hiccup? The veggie assembly station could've been a little cleaner. I mean, I wouldn't have declared it fit for a Mongolian emperor, but hey, the heat from the grill probably annihilated any potential invaders. Consider it survival of the fittest--culinary edition. The wait staff? Absolutely wonderful. They were friendly, attentive, and didn't judge the towering mountain of noodles I brought to the grill (Genghis would've been proud). All in all, Big Wok delivers hearty, delicious meals that are perfect for winter or any time you want to warm up with some sizzling stir-fry. Just don't forget your inner warlord and a sense of humor--this is Mongolian BBQ at its finest!

Yelp
Great place for all you can eat Mongolian food. There are tons of options you can choose from and the cooks make your food right in front of you. Service is great. The venue can become a bit loud due to the amount of people dining. Plenty of indoor seating. I definitely recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
The salad bar layout was very clean and all the ingredients were fresh. The all you can eat option was great and very hard not to build up your plate with everything, so pace yourself if you want seconds or thirds. We also got the Jasmine tea, highly recommend. Service was attentive and this is definitely somewhere I will definitely be coming back to.

Yelp
This has been my go to place for a tasty meal for the last ten years. We have been coming here since before their big move to where they are now. I usually do to go more than dine in but this place is great whether you dine in or take it to go. The team who works there is amazing and super sweet and they have the best customer service from hostess to cooks to wait staff y'all are the best. This is a staple in the South Bay and whether you live near by or just visiting this place is the best. The food is amazing and they work constantly to make sure the food is always fully stocked. The restaurant is clean and bright and welcoming so the next time you are craving Mongolian bbq make sure you stop by.

Yelp
I haven't been here since their previous location and boy I have missing out. It's just as delicious as I remember. Service was friendly and attentive. They have a huge selection of yummy ingredients to build your masterpiece. Proteins include chicken, beef, pork, and even lamb. Lamb ftw if you're a fan. Veggies looked fresh. And may favorite part, the different sauces. I love how there's a sign with different sauce combinations in case you need a suggestion. Pro tip, add an extra scoop of ginger water. And don't be afraid to load two bowls. Restaurant is clean and so are the restrooms. Spacious parking too.

Yelp
I have not been here in years. In fact I have not been here in 10 years when they weee still at the old location. The new location has plenty of parking in the back. Once I was inside , it all started coming back to me . We got our meats and veggies , sauced it up and gave my plates to the cook. When we went back to our table the server asked if we wanted bread and white rice. We passed on the rice but YES to the bread. The restaurant itself is very clean. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was delicious ! I am never disappointed when I come here. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Austin D.

Yelp
All you can eat Mongolian BBQ I had to try it! Wide variety of meats and vegetables all fresh and very good. The food bar was super clean and constantly being refreshed by an attentive staff member. I recommend each round going with smaller portions because otherwise you will get full off the first plate and not get to try out a bunch of different combinations. For around $25 a person with tax and tip this place is solid. I will be back!

Yelp
Craving mongolian bbq?! Look no further! This place is lit! -plenty of seating -AC, not hot -clean for the most port except the raw food area can get messy -Want to eat healthier? plenty of veggie options/vegan -lean protein options: chicken, lamb, beef, pork - various seasonings and sauces to add to your plate from spicy bbq, teriyaki, garlic, curry -Food comes with rice and fresh sesame bread basket! -Reasonable pricing, Tip: come during lunch time to shed a few dollars off your bill -Staff is friendly and fast and get your drink order as soon as you are seated -plenty of parking but could get busy as the lot shares with other businesses - THE BEST PART??!! IT'S AYCE!!! with no time limit -Make sure you leave a tip at the hot plate area, the employees work hard to cook your food to your liking! :)

Yelp
Redecorated and swanky for Mongolian bbq. The sauces and ingredients are amazing. We have been coming for years, but moved to Denver 8 years ago and we grabbed it on the way to the airport as we were headed home. Still top notch Mongolian bbq- $20 plate.
google avatar

Yelp
Came in on a Friday right as they opened at 11am. It was quick seating. And then went directly to grab my bowls to start serving myself. Quick tip: get 2 bowls. 1 bowl for all the meat and 1 bowl for all vegetables. They had chicken, beef, pork, and lamb for meat choices. Lots of vegetables choices and sauces too. Get the spicy hot sauce. Afterwards the food is cooked right in front of you. It took around 5min for my food to be cooked. Once I sat down, there was sesame bread at the table. The bread tasted bland. But the food was delicious overall. Def would come here again for the food.

Yelp
We absolutely love big wok! Everyone is so nice and food is so good, parking is always easy too!

Yelp
10/6/23 Met up with friends here today, roughly around 7 pm. My memory if foggy because I was informed that we have eaten here years ago-I have no recollection whatsoever. I did not know what to expect & usually I read reviews ahead of time to get a "lay of the land". So here's the deal: keep in mind, get only what you can finish eating, otherwise you will be charged extra, you go in get a table then head over to the line--put on some plastic gloves, get a bowl or two. There are 2 lines of the bar (one on each side). Pick your proteins: thinly sliced chick, beef, pork or lamb. Then veggies (broccoli, spinach, onions, mushrooms, corn, cilantro, jalapeños, bean sprouts, etc) noodles and then a myriad of sauces to choose from, at least about a dozen. I chose teriyaki, garlic water with minced garlic & some ginger oil. Try the curry powder-that added some umami & pizzaz to my dish. Then you head over to the line to wait for the guys to grill your food on the Mongolian bbq spit. What seemed like forever soon turned into a fairly quick service & my food was cooked fresh & hot. Depending on your choices, your ingredients will determine how good your finished plate/product will be. Table bread was waiting at our table and a bowl of steamed rice. The bread is puffed up with toasted sesame seeds on the outer layer-these were really good, fresh & chewy. The staff checked up on us frequently enough to clear our plates. It's all you can eat so you may return as often as you like , but finish what you have, you cannot take leftovers home. I highly recommend adding the few shakes of the curry powder, it adds depth of flavors. Will return to this place if I'm ever in the area & craving all-you-can eat fare cooked Mongolian style.

Genny W.

Yelp
Love it here. Have been coming to this local gem for years. Great low key place to get dinner. Not the cleanest place, but that may be in part to the constant turnaround of guests! Love this place!
google avatar

Yelp
The service is really good, everyone is super friendly. I'm retiring with friend next time.
google avatar

Yelp
Always a wonderful experience! The staff is super nice. The bathrooms are clean. And the flavor here has no limits! Definitely my favorite "mongolian bbq" place!
google avatar

Yelp
Simply the BEST! 5 star review way overdue. Been dining here since it opened over a decade ago. Service is always great and staff are efficient. Love that they've been using the same Chinese zodiac placemats all these years. Complimentary bread is so delicious too! PS don't forget cash for chef tips!
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
Great fast service. Friendly too. Reasonable price at $20 for all you can eat on a Sunday lunch. Seemed like a lot of regulars as the staff acknowledged the regulars. I had bookmarked this and was in the area. No wait. You just fill your bowl and bring to the cooking station. Great food, plentiful parking. Loved it.

Colleen P.

Yelp
I have been coming here for YEARSSS and it is absolutely one of my favorite places in South Bay. It's very clean inside, large, lots of parking, good variety of choices and service is excellent. The staff is so nice every time I go in there. HIGHLYYYY recommend.

Yelp
We have been back to the new location several times now over a period of time. It is right across the street from 31 Flavors/Baskin Robbins. Parking is in the back and is accessible from 10th street. The lot is large, but sometimes they do fill up because it is shared with two other restaurants (Nine24 Kitchen and India's Tandoori [see my review for India's Tandoori]). The restaurant entrance is from the lot in back not on PCH. Even when the lot gets fuller, there is usually parking available. We continue to eat here at 11:00 when they open on weekends. They still are usually busy at this time, but have not been overcrowded. The food selection and quality is still excellent. We usually make curry chicken and curry lamb (chicken, lamb, beef, pork are available and there is a wide assortment of veggies and sauces). This is one of the only Mongolian BBQs to have curry sauce, which is a plus if you like curry like we do. The raw food is self serve in a buffet style. Then you go over to the round grill where you watch the cooks prepare your food. They have hand sanitizer available and make you wear disposable gloves to get your raw food to cook. The staff is still very attentive and friendly as they were months ago when they reopened after moving. Tips: (1) Get two bowls and fill one with meat and the other with noodles and/or veggies. (2) Don't get noodles and instead eat the bread pockets at the table. (3) There is a tip jar for the cooks who cook your food while you watch and it is customary to give them at least $1 per person as they hand you your food. (4) If you have food allergies or do not like spicy food, then you can ask the cooks to clean the grill before they cook your food. However, if you do this while they are really busy, then you must realize that the time it takes for them to do this will really annoy all the hungry customers waiting behind you. If possible and out of courtsey to others, it would be best to just come back when they are not so busy if you need the grill cleaned for any reason prior to your food being cooked. Overall Big Wok is still a great place to eat whether you just want one serving, are really hungry wanting multiple plates, or are going vegetarian. They have the space and table size to seat large groups. We have been to several Mongolian BBQs in a few different US states and we would definitely recommend giving Big Wok a try whether you are used to eating Mongolian BBQ or are trying it for the first time.

Yelp
This place was so delicious! The service was great and the food options were good. Definitely going back for more.

Noelle D.

Yelp
Glad I tried it once but overall not as good as it used to be. The service was good but I think there needs to be more instruction on what to do at a wok. I haven't been to a wok in years so I was kinda looking around to see what I was supposed to do. I wasn't sure the recommended items to put in a great plate. Also while there's options for sauces, I do think they need more sauces that aren't super salty. Like a sweet and sour one or something less sodium enhanced.

Timothy B.

Yelp
id love to try the food, but I can't. been standing in line for 15 minutes, the place has roughly 20 empty seats at 12 tables. The line hasn't moved, they haven't taken any names. at least speak to the people who are waiting and let us know what's going on. people are leaving and the staff just keep cleaning tables and not accepting customers.
google avatar

Manny M.

Yelp
This is my favorite Mongolian BBQ spot. I've tried some in La mirada, westchester, inglewood off of Hawthorne and Century and a few other spots around town. Nothing compares to you, . Friendly staff and i've been going to this place, when they were up the street. Thanks god they survived the pandemic. Mucho amor!!
google avatar

Tyler B.

Yelp
Love this spot been going off and on for about two years. What can I say all you can eat Mongolian bbq all the meats you want and a fair price. The service is great they also give you bread and free rice. Anytime I get a craving for Mongolian this where I go.
google avatar

Carolyn L.

Yelp
Big Wok is one of the best Mongolian BBQs in the South Bay. Always delicious bbq, good selection of meats and veggies. Service is friendly and attentive. Sesame biscuits are the bomb. Can't seem to find these anywhere else. Restaurant and restrooms are kept very clean. Been coming to Big Wok since it was in Torrance 30 years ago. Love that i can still visit Manhattan Beach to enjoy.
google avatar

Joey T.

Yelp
One of the last few great Mongolian BBQ places in the region. Love the options, the large grill, the space, and the all-you-can-eat. The meat and noodles are good and all of the vegies always feel fresh. I do wish I could just order a single plate for a little cheaper - I often find that for Mongolian BBQ I don't need AYCE - but maybe I am just piling too many noodles into my creation!
google avatar

Jaime Z.

Yelp
This place is amazing, the all you can eat buffet is great, I was always good for seconds, but now I make myself an extra large portion of meat on my plate and everything else that goes with it and I'm good, no need for seconds. Staff is always nice an helpful. We usually go once a month. I definitely recommend this place if you are Craving Mongolian food.
google avatar

Bush A.

Yelp
Old faithful, it's good not great but for Mongolian BBQ, I'm happy to eat there anytime. The bread they give you, delicious. The assortment is very good and they serve Coke products, that's a plus in my book.
google avatar

Luke P.

Yelp
Great service. Nice ambience. Food was amazing and was cooked quickly!! Definitely recommend this spot!
google avatar

Yelp
First time 8/4/24 drove 30 min to come here and it sure was worth it! Nice and friendly people checking out. Had to get it to go due to having my puppy with me. My son and I took turns and cashier patiently waited for us to prepare our plates one at a time. Will definitely come again and hopefully dine in. :)

Yelp
As always--the absolute best Mongolian BBQ I've ever tried. Great food. Awesome cooks. Friendly and attentive wait staff. 100% 5-Stars all the way around!!!

Yelp
Amazing Mongolian food. And the only all you can eat too. It was amazing watching the guys work. They systematically walked around the cooking stone like they were all doing a dance. Such rhythm. Lol.
google avatar

Christopher B.

Yelp
I don't think there's any better Mongolian restaurant I've ever been to. Been coming here for a few years now, it's still remains at the top for Mongolian Wok.
google avatar

Shirley T.

Yelp
I've been there so many years ago so I love enjoying this Mongolian barbecue plate. It was really good and I love the biscuits so yummy.
google avatar

Yelp
This is our go to spot. We try go once a week. It's always great! Friendly service and all you can eat. The bread that comes with the meal is awesome.

Yelp
SoCal must try!!! Fresh ingredients always! Family friendly vibes So many combinations to make sweet spicy Lamb and Beef mix for me with extra garlic. The fresh bread is fire as well!! If you like noodles they even have those to add too.

Karen M.

Yelp
You choose your ingredients from a nice selection of meats, vegetables, noodles and sauces. They cook it in front of you. Fresh and delicious every time. Love it! Both food and service are top notch.
