Bill's Bar & Burger - Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"You might remember our review of the original Bill's Bar & Burger. Make special note of the part where we talk about how we're glad this place isn't in our neighborhood - what with our affinity for burgers and complete lack of self control. So much for that. Bill just opened a mega-restaurant 200 yards from our office. We spent the better part of this summer pacing back and forth in front of Bill's papered windows, anxious to see what they had in store for our miserably corporate slice of Midtown. "Just wait" we told our co-workers, "this is gonna change everything". "The days of deciding between Smith and Wollensky's, a place with a mechanical bull, and Ted Turner's desperate attempt to feed us buffalo are soon to be over." Now that the doors are open, here's what we have to report back: Not all that much is going to change. Bill's Burgers are still great, and we're still big fans. Some of the new menu items (see, corn dogs) are impressive and this place will kill it. But 10,000 square feet gives the restaurant the vibe of something in between a TGI Friday's and Costco. We couldn't help but feel disappointed that our wish for a little bit of downtown near the office turned out to be just another chain, complete with it's own "cupcake program". I guess we had just hoped that instead of conforming to Midtown, Bill's Bar and Burger would make Midtown conform to it. RESERVE A TABLE WITH RESERVE A TABLE Food Rundown Bill's Classic with American Cheese As stated previously, we still love these burgers. Bill's Classic remains solid, but we recommend going for one of the specialty burgers below. The Sunset and Vine A brilliant homage to the In-N-Out burger, this is cheese and a "special sauce" just like you find at the west coast burger Mecca. So good. They nailed it. The Bobcat The Bobcat comes topped with jack cheese and Anaheim chiles, which give it some freshness along with a bit of a spicy kick. A nice way to switch it up. The Bobcat The Bobcat comes topped with jack cheese and Anaheim chiles, which give it some freshness along with a bit of a spicy kick. A nice way to switch it up. Mushroom and Swiss Burger Beefy, earthy, and extra mushroomy. This is another good one. Corndogs These are new to the Midtown menu, and they might be the best thing we've had in the place. Extra crispy and perfectly nostalgic. Shrimp Lettuce Cups Three "cups" made from iceberg lettuce, filled with a julienned carrot mix reminiscent of a banh mi, and topped with crispy shrimp and Sriracha aioli. All in all, they're pretty tasty, but also too watery from the vinegary solution the carrots are dressed in. We'd suggest trying the fried oyster lettuce cups instead." - Chris Stang

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Bill’s Bar & Burger just off Fifth Avenue in NYC. Exceptional food, exceptional service, and surprisingly reasonable prices given the location. Our server Daniel was phenomenal. He was attentive, quick, and friendly without being fake or overbearing. The burgers were cooked perfectly. The fries were crispy. Everything came out fast despite the lunch rush. The place has that rare combination of laid-back vibe with top-tier quality. Tables were clean. Staff worked like a team. Even the music was dialed in just right. In a city where you usually overpay for mediocre, Bill’s delivers the opposite. This is the kind of spot you stumble into once and then make a point to come back to every time you are in the area. Highly recommend.

Google
I have been there a couple of times before, usually after work with friends. Depends on the day and time, place can be busy. The service is good and friendly. The food is very tasty. Specially enjoyed small sliders, sweet potato fries, warm chips, and guacamole. Margherita was great to 😊

Google
The food and atmosphere were great. The service was good until we met a waiter who treated us badly. We ordered two burgers, one with meat and one vegetarian option so we'd prefer to know which one is which. He brought us our food and we didn't hear what he was asking us (probably which burger is for who) so we kindly asked if he could repeat. He just rolled his eyes and he just left the food without telling us which burger is vegetarian and which is not. It gave us really unpleasant impression. The food itself was great, both burgers were tasty. Blue moon belgian white (a beer from a tap) was also great and we recommend it. Atmosphere was almost like in those bars in americans movies where they play sport on TV (and there was TV with sport playing).

Google
We passed by Bill's Bar & Burger several times, and as a burger lover, I was curious. However, I initially thought that being in the city center, right across from Rockefeller Center, it would cater mostly to tourists. One day, we decided to give it a try, and I’m so glad we did! All three of us ordered different burgers, and we were all thrilled with our choices. The burgers were fresh, juicy, and cooked to perfection. We didn't try anything else on the menu, but I can confidently recommend their burgers. If you’re in the area, definitely stop by for a delicious meal!

Google
Made a reservation for 6pm last night & they were able to seat us about 30 minutes early. This place got crowded quick! Very very loud & busy! The booth we were in was a little tight. The food was delicious though & our waiter was great. The shakes, pretzels & burgers didn’t disappoint. The fries however, tasted exactly like McDonald’s & were a little soggy / cool. A member of my family cannot go up the stairs so we asked if there was an elevator. They did have one but it wasn’t very convenient & a little confusing to get to. It drops you off in the corner of the restaurant.

Very fast service . Polite and friendly server . Food was just ok. Not really special . I liked to have chunkier burger. Atmosphere was nice , seats a bit too close to each other .

Google
The service wasn't fantastic but the burgers sure were good. It's a little on the pricey side, but that's to be expected in NYC. The cheese fries were excellent! The location is great also.

Google
A must! All the plated are delicious! Burgers super, starters also, especially the buffalo wings. Their Bills tap beer is nice!

Yelp
Went in for lunch @ ~2:30pm. The place was pretty empty. We were promptly seated. We ordered the shrimp basket and BBQ wings to share and we each ordered a burger. Everything came out piping hot. Their wings were absolutely delicious! Very decent sized and very juicy. Their shrimp is "OK". I believe you get 6 small-ish to medium sized shrimp on a bed of French fries. I got the "South of the Burger" burger (What most places would call the Mexican burger) which came with Guac., tiny, pickled? jalapeños and bathed in queso sauce. The buns they use are pretty good; I'd say they have the correct density. It was a good burger. One of my friends got what seemed like a bacon, cheese burger (which looked great with all that bacon sticking outta its sides). He noted it was good. All in all, it was a good experience. I'd like to rate them a 3.5 stars (again, Yelp should give us the flexibility to give 1/2 points). It is a touristy area, hence the prices; $17-20 for a burger without fries or a drink. A very limited menu, but what they do, IMO, they do well. I can't quite say that they are GOOD, but they are definitely more than just "OK". The staff treated us nicely and the place look pretty nice in a semi old school diner sorta way.

Yelp
I went for lunch here today and felt like trying their buffalo wings. I've had the burgers and fries a previous time so wanted to try something different. Unfortunately the bone in wings Buffalo style disappointed. For $16 plus tax you get only 5 wings - that's right just 5. They were medium sized tasty enough but the price and appetite left me hungry and cheated in a frustrating way when you probably should have stuck with a burger for $2 more ( btw does not come with fries ). I'm a Landry card holder so at least I got points but I won't be ordering the wings again - love the space , location but skip the wings !

Yelp
You ever want to not write a good review because you don't want others to know about it? This is that! After coming out of the Rockettes show, 10 deep, we were starving. Bill's was recommended my one of the security guys because it was close and with two floors, could handle 10 people. My man was spot on. Bill's said it was an hour wait, but turned out to be 40 min. It was well worth the wait. We all had burgers and not one of us was not impressed, from 7 years old (kids menu) to the 80+. I had the big cat, added some homemade hot sauce (yes, I happened to come prepared from Philly with homemade hat sauce!!), and the guac that my brother-in-law didn't want. Sooo, so good. Don't let the English muffin fool you, this was burger meets breakfast meets bbq meets Tex-mex.

Yelp
Strategically located around Rockefeller center, Bill's Bar & Burger is surprisingly not overly priced for where it is located. Burgers are around $15-18 which is perhaps expected, if not more for a location such as here. Taste: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Value for money: 3.5/5 We had: The Bill's burger: the standard, cant go wrong here! Killer B's: 5 mini burgers stacked together. The burgers tasted like a better version of your average school burger. It definitely brings back some memories and probably could be worked on more All in all, a rather standard spot. You get what you expect and is a safe choice.

Yelp
It was a great place to quickly stop in for a bite, it's definitely set up as a tourist attraction. I think if we looked for longer we could've found something a little better, our food was semi cold but it was still tasty. Also great service from the waitstaff we were seated briefly and also spoken to with a kind and warm attitude! Lots of seating for bar and tables! Great music and aesthetic!
google avatar

Yelp
Crowded and noisy, but very convenient, especially if you're traveling with kids. At the heart of Rockefeller Center, where few restaurants good for kids exist. Burgers, chicken tenders, fries, salads, shakes and sundaes along with grownup food... It's busy and bustling, but the high energy is managed well by the wait staff. Prices are reasonable too.

Yelp
I'd describe this place as like an nyc version of Red Robin, Applebees and, TGI Fridays all rolled into one. Bill's has similar menu options and that kind of vibe. The food was good as was the service. We really enjoyed the egg nog milkshake. Monster was an accurate description of its size. Onion rings were also good. Crispy and not over fried. It was crowded and our table was small but this what it is during peak lunch hours during a touristy time of year for the city.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Tasty and cute but also loud and busy! Super loud. Our service was slow but mainly because our waiter would just pass right by us 5 times without asking if we wanted to order or pay. Probably our worst service experience the entire trip. Food was good.

Yelp
A relatively quick and easy burger place located near Rockefeller, it is surprisingly affordable (for NY, that is) given it's prime location. A friend and I stopped by because we were famished and wanted some good comfort burgers. Inside, the place was huge and beautifully decorated, just the NY diner style we expected! We were seated right away and given menus. I ordered the Fat Cat as that burger being allegedly award winning. However, it was just too salty for me... I'm not sure if it was the patty or what but it was just too salty for my taste; still eat-able though! We also ordered a side of fries which were good and crispy; just how I like it!

Yelp
Bill's is an as expected spot on Rockefeller Center. A bit pricey for a burger spot -- but location -- I get it. The food was good as was the service.

Yelp
I have been visiting New York for 30+ years and have never had a bad meal until recently when we stopped in here for dinner. I ordered Fish and Chips for $28 which consisted of a large bed of fries and 3 small pieces of fish which were about 2"x3" and felt very much like remnants. We were a party of 3 and all were disappointed with their selections. Very much a New York first...

Joseph D.

Yelp
The customer service is amazing, and the food was delicious! I haven't had a cheeseburger this good in a while! The atmosphere was great! Everybody was kind, and helpful.

Kim T.

Yelp
My seat was propped on a slanted concrete floor patch by the ladies room. There were two of us, but there was only one acceptable flat spot for a chair. The restaurant should discontinue using that table. The fries were not crunchy and my English muffin burger bun tasted stale. The burgers on the pictures outside looked juicy, but my dinner companion and I both received flat burger patties that were stacked to make them look full. I cut my hamburger in half, with the plan to take the other half home. When I went to the bathroom, the waiter took away my plate and never asked if I wanted it wrapped. I asked my companion what happened. He said that he had not been paying attention. The restaurant has a location that probably brings in a lot of business from turism. They may be able to keep up by shuffling masses in and out, but their quality and service is terrible.

Yelp
I'm glad that I was able to visit this spot since it was on my bookmarked list. My sister and I were in the area and decided to grab a bit to eat here. We were seated very quickly which was nice. Our service was very nice and attentive. Our food came out quickly which was perfect since we were hungry. We were very happy with our food and everything tasted delicious. Music was good and decor was nice as well. We enjoyed our dining experience at Bill's Bar & Burger.

Yelp
Cockroach crawling up the wall by our Table. I asked to get something taken off our Bill. "I will take off the Coke" Seriously?

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick lunch while in the area... good food and service and got seated quickly. Ample seating upstairs and downstairs...was seated upstairs with a window view. Menu had good variety to choose from - burgers or no burgers along with beverages. Decided on Bill's Burger with bacon - it was delicious and the Ranch hand burger (ooh nice pretzel bread, looks messy to eat) and a side of fries to share. Both burgers were filling. Beverages: Cold Ass Beer (Yes, that is what it's called) and a Coke to wash it all down with. Ahhh refreshing! They also have a retail shop downstairs if one wants to purchase t-shirts, hats, hot sauce, etc. If you're a Landry's Select member, don't forget your card to earn points for $ spent per visit to get you closer to your next dining reward!

Yelp
Not bad but could be better. Came in for a snack since I have a big dinner late in the evening. Ordered the big cat based on the CNN review. Added mushrooms, bacon and egg because why not? Burger came out fast. A little too fast as I'm wondering how it was possible without lots or precooking. But I guess that's normal for burgers. Although I would prefer freshly made when you pay this much and this is a dedicated premium burger place. Meat was nice although I was disappointed that it was split in two in my burger. Egg could have been runnier. Overall taste wise it wasn't bad The big negative was the English muffin bun. It was way too hard. I had to abandon eating it with my hands and used a fork and knife instead.

Yelp
I recently went to Bills Bar & Burger in Manhattan with the family after seeing the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and it was really good! We did have a bit of a wait when we got there even though we had a reservation, but the food was definitely worth it. I had the Tower of Mini B's with French fries and onion rings, it was amazing and really filling. The sliders were juicy and flavorful, and the fries and onion rings were cooked to perfection. Our waiter was very friendly, which made the experience even better. I also loved the atmosphere, with lots of TVs making it a great spot to catch a game. The location is convenient too, with two stories and a connection to the Shops at Rockefeller Center. Overall, I would definitely recommend Bills Bar & Burger! Enjoy!

Yelp
I have been here several times now. Great place to bring your kids. Food fare is really good. You must make a reservation. They seat you asap with a reservation. Holiday season is hectic but thier location is ideal when going in city.

Yelp
Solid 3.5 overall. 2 story place near Rockefeller center, large for NYC. Everything is a la carte. PRO TIP: make a reservation online to avoid the in person wait, which you can do in restaurant even after you've checked in at the hostess stand (weird, right?). Full bar menu with local taps (witte beer was superb, $10, 5/5 stars). Cookies n cream and S'mores shakes were OUTSTANDING! ($10/ea, 5/5 stars). 3 burgers were pretty good, not the best (or worst) I've had. While options were innovative, none were the show stopper I expected for the price. Daniel provided friendly service despite having to ask for water refills several times. Closest restrooms downstairs are outside lower entrance and to the right (Rockefeller banos).

Yelp
I had a solid dinner here before a show. We start off with guac and chips and an espresso martini. The martini was really good and the guac was delicious, but the chips were extremely greasy and stuck together. Our waitress was kind enough to get us a new batch quickly. For entrées we ordered the cobb salad and the fat cat burger. The burger was really good, with a nice crispy edge. I wish the English muffin that it was on, was toasted better. It was kind of soggy by the time I got it. The Cobb salad was done well and very tasty. Our waitress was really nice and very efficient. Overall the meal was good but there needs to be more attention to detail in the food.

Yelp
Get burger place in Manhattan. Place was packed and we got seated 5 minutes early! Burgers were good and service was great. Didn't have to wait long for our food either. interesting decor with retro 50s red and white tablecloths
google avatar

Yelp
It was a packed house but our food came out super fast and was hot and delish! We will eat here again on our next visit.

Yelp
Good low key spot that is keto friendly. Gabby took care of me tonight. She knows how to make a really good margarita. This place is keto friendly and even has a keto burger called "Keto My Heart". This bunless burger starts with a beef patty but also has shaved ham, brisket, bacon, Vermont cheddar, avocado, caramelized onions, chipotle aioli, and a fried egg to top it off. Honestly one of the best thin patty burgers I have ever had. HEADS UP: Burger patties are THIN so don't expect a big patty. The ambiance is casual and really chill music playing in the background. There are a lot of tourists that come here and come with their family. This is a family friendly restaurant. You are not allowed to sit at the bar if you are not 21+ (this is a good thing). I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Sharon B.

Yelp
This is another place I dropped into with friends and the photos are from 2 different visits. The food is excellent and the service perfect. The atmosphere is just to our liking and the prices are very reasonable. This is the kind of spot we drop into for any meal. The experience is a 10

Yelp
We recently had a meal at Bill's Burger Bar, a spot close to the busy Rockefeller Center. The place was buzzing, making it a great spot for a lively family dinner. We were served a towering pile of five delicious sliders, perfectly placed on a basket full of crispy onion rings and golden fries. The sliders were simply amazing, each bite more delicious than the previous one. We also had a chicken strip combo, which was equally tasty and enjoyed to the very last bite. The service was top-notch, with the staff being super efficient and quick. Bill's Burger Bar made our dining experience a memorable one and has won a special place in our hearts. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Excellent burger! I have celiac and they offer gluten free buns and fries. Good music, waiter was great. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Went to NYC just before Christmas for work and on my last day there the office manager took me here for lunch. It was packed of course, but after a 20-minute wait, we were seated upstairs, I ordered a burger & fries, they were fantastic. The restaurant is in an incredible location, so close to the Rockerfeller Center and all the great midtown Manhattan attractions. The next time I go to New York, I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Joy E.

Yelp
It was good food and a fun time. Nothing too crazy if I'm being honest. But if you pass by and are hungry for a satisfying burger, stop in! The waiter was pretty busy so service wasn't great but he comped our fries. We also found something (label of some sort) in our queso and he quickly replaced it and apologized. The setting is busy and loud, which is fun but not always preferable. It just depends! Food arrived quickly also.
google avatar

Kristi G.

Yelp
Food and drinks were great. Initial service was slow, but after ordering drinks and food arrived quickly.
google avatar

Vanesa F.

Yelp
Slider towers are a must! Don't forget to add an oreo milkshake! Food overall was superb. The kids meals were served in big portions and also tasty for them. We did attend during the holiday peak season on a Saturday evening; therefore, completely understand the wait during that time frame. Yet, the verbal one hour wait was actually half an hour. Our seating was located downstairs in the middle of everyone's crossing which did make the experience a bit unpleasant. At one point as customers were walking by they almost knocked over my child's chair. Thankfully my husband and I caught the chair on both end on time. The restroom could have used a bit more cleaning. The women's restroom consisted of 3 bathroom stalls, one with a kid's changing station, and the wait was at least 5-10 mins. I did notice some women entering the men's restroom as that appeared to be emptier. Our waiter was hands down great! He not only greeted us but the kids as well. Provided well suggestions from our narrowed down choices. Most importantly, he was attentive throughout the entire sitting.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, what a burger!!! The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. It was packed too. The bathroom situation is not great, but it is Manhattan.
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
Bill's is next door to our office so we went for lunch. It's a very large, 2 floor restaurant with a bar and tables across both floors. I had a great Cobb Salad. The others had two type of burgers with fries and awesome looking shakes. Service was fast even during the lunch rush. Prices were standard for the area. We will go again!
google avatar

Yelp
NYC. XMAS time. Beautiful weather. Saturday afternoon. Anxiety struck in. Lines everywhere. I ate here years ago and it was great. Got seats at the bar right away. Tight spaces. Waiters had trouble getting through. The Turkey club was so yummy, fresh and delicious! Huge! Sweet potato fries were good but very small portion. Needs salt but loved the crispness! Loved the expresso martini machine but didn't have one. Next time!

Yelp
Came with a party of four with no reservations... a busy New York Saturday night and was seated within ten minutes. The space is multi floored we sat downstairs and was given the option of booth or table top. The crowd was a good size within the restaurant. Our server came over immediately and was ready to take orders for drinks and food. The portion sizes are HUGE!! The biggest sliders I've ever seen. My fries were a little cold but good. The burgers are smash style and medium well. I got a lemonade .. refills are free. No one at the table had anything bad to say about their meals. Price was affordable especially for the location considering its inside Rockefeller center. The bathroom was clean. All the staff were friendly and greeted us.
google avatar

Nicki M.

Yelp
Great place to take a break from shopping and have a delicious burger- or three sliders :). Yummy sauce on the burgers, juicy patties, nice melted cheese and a pickle is just the way I enjoy it. Service was excellent and definitely a cool easy going vibe. I really wanted to try the Fourth of July shake - it looked over the top yummy but there was no more room in my belly!
google avatar

Paul B.

Yelp
Great place to grab some drinks and burgers and other American favorites. Nice ambiance and close to Rockefeller Center and Radio Coty Music Hall. If going around the Holidays make a reservation.
google avatar

Tina D.

Yelp
I had the fat cat burger it was excellent. I did ordered it with mushrooms but they forgot to add them so but otherwise the service was wonderful. The butterscotch milkshake was so good. The disco fries we average and o could have skipped those with how big my burger was.
google avatar

Andres F.

Yelp
Food is delicious and service was awesome as well. Definitely worth going to the spot if you are in New York City. Definitely it's a big crowd. The ambience is pretty loud.
google avatar

Christy N.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere! Great bar selection. Food was good... typical bar food. Went twice while on vacation
google avatar

Jeffrey C.

Yelp
Very fast service and our waitress was great. The place is loud and crazy, but that worked well for us with 4 kids. The food was good/fine for the price, and the milkshakes are great. Overall it's not a high-end must-try kind of place, but it was great for my family.
google avatar

Diana M.

Yelp
We stopped in here after a visit to American Girl Place across the street. I usually wouldn't go to a burger place in NYC but it was convenient and worked with our food sensitivities. It was really good. The burgers are big but not too big. We opted for shakes instead of fries. The shakes were very good. Probably the best part though was the service we received from Daniel. He was extremely attentive to our needs. The restaurant is big so we didn't feel cramped which is so often the case in NYC. Perfect for groups.
google avatar

Sven F.

Yelp
Came here for dinner. Sat at the bar. Music way too loud for me. Need a more chill vibe at my restaurant of choice. Bartender had zero personality. Food was just ok. The layout inside is nice though.
google avatar

Jani M.

Yelp
The fish sandwich was good, but not the best. Service was quick and efficient. I had no real complaints. It was a good place to go to quickly. I wouldn't necessarily say I'd run back, but if I needed to eat something, I would. The espresso martini was awful; I wouldn't recommend it.
google avatar

Yelp
Our annual Christmas visit to Roc Center included a stop at BB&B. It was one of the few restaurants that took reservations. We had 2 children with us, so waiting at the bar is not always an option. Everyone in our party was very happy with their meals. The burgers were cooked perfectly and very satisfying. The sides were plentiful. The place was extremely busy, but the service was on point. Steph J took very good care of us. The drinks were flowing and she was always available. I would definitely recommend this place. We will make this part of our annual excursion. We loved it!

Robert F.

Yelp
This is a last resort type of eatery. It was raining har when we came out of the hotel and it was right across the street. Food was typical bar food. Burger and fries. Nothing to go out of your way for. Service was spotty. Our waitress was working (restocking supplies) but not waiting on us. Had to go get her to pay the bill. Price was okay for Manhattan. Everything is A la carte.

A A.

Yelp
Wow! The food was horrible only to be surpassed in horribleness by the service. Beer was barely chilled, grilled cheese was barely grilled (I'm not sure it was actually grilled at all) and the tomato soup was as thick as oatmeal. How can you screw up tomato soup and grilled cheese. Server was clueless and clearly just wanted to get out of there. Save your money.
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
A burger place that ran out of ketchup and BBQ sauce. Dirty cups on the table. Kids chicken tenders that were burnt and dry.
google avatar

Shane L.

Yelp
We stumbled across this place when we were sight seeing in New York City and we were pleasantly surprised by our experience overall. The waiter that we had was awesome and attentive even with a full section where he made some recommendations that we all were very happy with. My wife had the grilled cheese and tomato soup, I had the southwest burger and my son had the breakfast burger with a delicious fried egg sitting on top. The French fries were delicious, and the most surprising thing about all of it, for being in NYC, the prices are usually silly but this was three meals, an extra side of fries, chips and queso and a beer for less than $100. I would definitely visit this place again and partake in some of the delicious fare.
