"The townhouse that was home to the speakeasy Bill’s Gay Nineties, which opened nearly a century ago, will reopen under new ownership, the New York Post reports. The cavernous bar known for its nostalgic menu — Prohibition-era cocktails paired with classics like lobster Thermidor and beef Wellington — closed in 2012, and was most recently operating as Bill’s Townhouse Restaurant with similar dishes. New owners have swooped in and according to the Post, the latest iteration may be called Bill’s Supper Club." - Bao Ong

What most new New Yorkers don't know is that this place has a huge history. The food used to be amazing, in my memories. It was a Speakeasy in the 1920s. A lot of famous folks passed through these doors. My father grew up not far from this amazing place. His father was a "regular". Times change, but my memories do not. I got to sing with the same piano player who knew my father in his youth. There is history here. My father took me here in the '80s. The steaks were fantastic! Downstairs? We sang at the piano bar. The history of this place in NY is epic.
