"Billy Reid is a distinctly Southern designer, seamlessly working traditionally preppy elements (pastels, seersucker, lots of khaki and linen) into elegant, streamlined, and sometimes vintage-inspired silhouettes. His Charleston shop is divided into two departments: one for the men’s line, complete with a healthy bowtie selection, and one for the women’s collection of shift dresses, neutral knits, and chambray separates. Merchandised right into the displays are a number of giftables like stationery, art books, and knickknacks for the home."

Like other reviewers, I adore every Billy Reid item I own, and had an excellent retail experience at this gorgeous location on historic King Street. Billy Reid's quality, across the board, is something to be admired. Billy Reid is also one of very few brands that consistently and successfully balances fashion with restraint. Statement pieces with great taste. Items always fit perfectly and provide exceptional repeat value. Billy Reid is timeless, classic fashion at its best. Outstanding staff at this location, too.

This brand grabbed my adoration and commitment from the 1st encounter. Was on their site looking for a sold out item. Got an email a day later letting me know that the item I was looking for was available via a customer return. I’ve also shopped in store in Charleston. The customer service reminds me of my days at Eddie Bauer, when customer service mattered. Staff can’t do enough for you. When choice is in abundance, service is the difference. Customer for life, ABB

Billy Reid is fantastic, especially the Charleston store. The clothes great - the fit and quality are awesome. I have several blazers, shirts and pants and I get compliments on every Billy Reid item I wear. I have bought several items for my wife here as well which she loves. It's also always a genuine pleasure to shop here. The staff is friendly, professional and helpful.

This is a great store on King st! I had a wonderful experience at this Billy Reid location. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Went in to look at one thing and walked out with six. Highly recommend.

As a repeat customer to the website, this was the first brick-and-mortar Billy Reid I've ever been to; the staff was amongst some of the nicest staff I have ever met in a store, incredibly helpful and all around super nice people who are excited about where they work! The brand really speaks for itself and is not one where the name is all you pay for. The quality and passion that goes into the brand (and the super soft materials too!) is evident. Billy Reid has a ever-growing "Made in USA" collection if you're looking for that too. If you don't want to pay name-brand prices, check out their sale items in the basement, there's no catch, it's just out of season! I plan on returning to Charleston in the near future and will ensure I have time to swing back by and check this store out again!

The service alone at the Charleston location has made a customer of my son & me; the hospitality & thoughtfulness shown by Kiersten (sp?) was incredible and showed a real Southern grace; we cannot wait to wear our new shirts!

TOP NOTCH! I’ve shopped on Jermyn St. Turnbull&Asser (Clapton, in the house!). At the old, good, Orvis. Ralph’s NYC flagship and Ralph’s nearby. But I have never, ever, encountered the quality of attention, the genuine warmth and interest, the sheer dedication to making things work for me, that I experienced at Billy Reid Charleston. Becca, you are a rockstar, and you do not merely set the gold standard, you raise it.

LOVED this shop!! Was my first time there. Salesgirls were immediately kind, friendly and super helpful. One let me try on her pants since they didn't have that size available in the store and I tried the other salesgirls boots to check sizing. Bought both items, and more.

Yelp
I really like checking out Billy Reid men's clothes when I have the opportunity, so walking up on one in the fashion district on King St in Charleston was very nice.  I was able to pick up a vest that I had previously seen at the Georgetown, DC location and got it for 1/2 off. This store had a nice selection of women's wear as well.  Friendly people working here too.

Yelp
Billy Reid on King Street in Charleston is a great source for quality clothing that is unique and looks good. They have a really good selection of different items available and it is easy to find something stylish. I have had a good experience shopping here and have been happy with all of my purchases.

Yelp
A friend of mine referred me to this clothing store because of the designer's Alabama ties. From the moment I walked in, the sales team made me feel like the most important customer they had. I was offered a drink...choices included bourbon...omg...and I took it. Everything was 70% off. The salesperson was knowledgeable and helpful. Please visit if in Charleston.

Yelp
Great store and a great American designer. (Speaking to the menswear here, they seemed to have nice women's apparel as well but I am not the best judge for that) I ended up here last month for a vault collection show of a local surf shop called Rogue Wave. I guess the surf shop owner is a friend of the designer/store. Either way, it was really cool to see the collaboration of an event showcasing a vintage inspired surf collection inside a store with more of a southern style. Good to see people in the industry working to help promote each other. Durring this collection party, there was live music hors d'oeuvres, the bourbon punch, and small selection of beer. This may have added to the shopping experience but nonetheless a great way to shop. Overall I was impressed with the surf line and will check it out in the future, but was shocked that I had never been into Billy Reid (at least not recently) and what I was missing. Truly original fashion, especially for the area. Plenty of King St. shops put their focus on the very distinctive whimsical southern gent. It works for Sundays best, Easter, and Horse Races but otherwise I find it to be too dandy. I am also seeing more and more shops that carried mens and womens decreasing their mens sections or scrapping it altogether. Billy Reid has classic american prep but with some edge. I found endless items I could add to my wardrobe as staples for years to come. I didn't add endless items to my wardrobe that day due to it being cost prohibitive, but it would be worth it. The shoes really seemed to be what caught my eye more than anything. My next shoe purchase will probably be from here. As for the high prices.... are they high end fashion prices? Yes. Is there also a huge sale section downstairs where you will pay the same prices you would elsewhere for much less quality and style? That, my friend is also a YES. It seemed they had almost as much inventory downstairs as they did upstairs for the current collection, and yes this did include shoes and boots. So if you don't mind paying designer prices OR you don't mind doing a little bargain basement hunting. I think you will be happy with your finds at Billy Reid.

Yelp
There are designer clothing stores, and then there's Billy Reid. You very much get the vibe of hipster in some of the clothing - but think thoughtful hipster, not trendy hipster. Like how the bartenders who KNOW how to make drinks might dress when they're not at work - or even when they are at work - and how their girlfriends might dress. But don't let me confine myself to the bartending class. There is much that those who shop at Banana or Kenneth Cole will find here to like - and then some. It's by no means cheap - but Billy is committed to not only making sure that the vast majority of the products are designed here - but made here too. That should alone be clamoring for your support. If that doesn't help, maybe his being named new designer of the year by GQ last year will help. If that doesn't do it for you, help yourself to some of the bourbon punch that was being served (yes, I said that right - alcohol while shopping) to me and that I enjoyed while trying to limit my shopping to just one perfect, natty new bow tie. If I'm a good boy this year, I'll send Santa back with a list in December. If you aren't in one of the six cities that has a Billy Reid - your local Macy's or Bloomingdale's may carry some of his line. If not...go here: http://www.billyreid.com/ PS They also do custom clothing. But like anything else here at Billy Reid - quality costs. Do not come here expecting the low price leader. Come here expecting classic styles that will last your typical wear and tear.

Yelp
If I could award six stars for this amazing store, I would. I have switched most of my wardrobe to the Billy Reid brand. It is timeless, well constructed, durable yet attention grabbing clothing. What keeps me going back is the incredible service. Impeccable and so genuine. Every time I go in, I am greeted with familiarity and warmth. I end up just standing and chatting with these fine people more than shopping sometimes. They stand behind the quality of their goods. Case in point: I bought a wool blend hoodie last year. I wore it to Iceland over the summer then I wore it once during a cold streak and the seam on the back ripped. They quickly sent it to a tailor and had it repaired in no time, no questions asked. I also have noticed they are starting to make more and more of their duds in the United States (great ethos). Their price points are on the high side but you get what you pay for. I have shirts from 8-9 years ago that are still in style and are on excellent shape after multiple washings. Check this place out when you are in town. Well worth the visit. You will become hooked.

Yelp
I love the clothing here and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. It's expensive but worth it! Look for the bargains downstairs!

Yelp
Beautiful clothes. Beautifully displayed. Sold by beautiful people. No, really, the female staff are all truly stunning. And being told that you look good in something by one of them, heh, yeah, that makes it hard to say no when they're recommending you buy another $200 shirt. Not that the shirt isn't worth it (if they ever are) because the fit is perfect and the fabric is like nothing else I've ever seen, but, well, you get the picture. Great buying experience as they truly care and know their products. I am now a Billy Reid fan.

Yelp
Fantastic clothing + wonderful service = a great experience every time. Great selection of clothes (specifically men's, in my case) especially for a small boutique. Blazers, suits, pants, some denim, formal and more casual shirts, shoes and accessories, etc. The store is not crammed with merchandise, but it doesn't have to be since everything is just so spot on. You can see and feel the quality in every single item you touch or try on. They have a great room in the basement in addition to the main floor. Pricing is a few bucks more than chain stores of course, but I didn't see anything I would call overpriced, especially given the quality of literally every single item in the store. The staff is perfect: friendly, genuine, knowledgeable, professional + helpful. The location itself is also charming, old wood floors, exposed charleston brick, the whole nine yards. When you need a real piece of (men's) clothing, stop here first.

Yelp
Patrick is an urbane gentleman and is there for you when you need a queer eye for the straight guy, except he's not gay (not that there's anything wrong with that). Cool dude, cool place, awesome shirts you won't see on the next chap. Not cheap, not outrageous. Good music, good beer for the good customer. It's one of those places you stop looking around after you find a couple must-buys, lest you blow all available funds. If Patrick weren't so cool, I'd feel like I got socked in the gut, having spent that much money. ah well.

Yelp
Love this store and designer. Great service, and my dress from there was a big hit. I will be watching this designer and definitely returning to thier store to shop for classic togs.

Yelp
My favorite southern style clothing store. It's definitely on the contemporary side when compared to other southern style staples. The service here was 10/10. Gotta love southern hospitality.

Yelp
I've gotten my wife quite a few things from here. Definitely a badass designer of women's clothing that'll make you custom clothing.. for a price. We've utilized that particular service for various formal functions but I like, also, just getting my wife the everyday stuff too-you're not gonna find it anywhere else. Again, if you like more different and personalized items, rather than 1 item for 1000 people, check Billy out.

Yelp
My wife and I visited the Charleston, SC store last week. We stayed for over an hour. It was the best shopping experience I've ever had. The staff and vibe was over the top wonderful. I love the clothes, store design, and the staff -- my wife and I didn't want to leave. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Love the clothes, my daughter got me hooked. The people are so nice that work there, like a family! My only wish is I would love if they stayed open later than 6pm, especially near Chistmas.

Yelp
As an Aussie living in London and travelling to the States regularly with work I've seen a few men's clothes shop in plenty of different cities. The staff and set up at Billy Reid is excellent, mind you it should be for the prices (which cost 1/2 a star I think). The shoes were the stand out for me- the dark brown cordovan Moto Boots are the best leather boots I've bought, not a single blister and no 'wear in' period at all. I also picked up the dark brown Indianola suede boots which are even more comfy (though not really dark brown...). I also picked up the wool, navy Bowery Coat- nicely lined, well cut, classy leather finishes and warm. A little annoying that, given the price, the buttons seem to fall of quite rapidly and also that the pockets are lined with a very fine material that no doubt keys will find their way through (loss of 1/2 a star). Overall though, I think Billy Reid is one of the best men's retailers I've come across anywhere (New York/ London/ Paris/ Sydney/ Hong Kong included). Nice job Billy.

Yelp
Love this store and men's offerings. In so sea of stores, this one stands out due to great service.
