Portland’s Best Restaurants and Bars, Spring 2025 | Eater Portland

"Look no further than Binh Minh for the best banh mi in town. The key here is the house-baked bread, which combines the soft fluff of white bread with the crisp, lightly flaky shatter of a French baguette. But the rest of the components are well thought-out, too, particularly in the classic #1 combo, which layers ham, head cheese, rich pate, and super-silky egg mayo with a generous portion of herbs and pickled veggies. (It never hurts to request extra mayo, though — and you can even take a container of the house-made stuff home.) This little bakery and deli is also home to some of the best beef stew in town, sided by a plain banh mi for dipping. The counter is filled with grab-and-go delights like tender banh cuon, tapioca dumplings, crisp pate chaud and egg rolls, and pandan honeycomb cake for dessert." - Katherine Chew Hamilton

11 Big-Deal Banh Mi in Portland | Eater Portland

"Practically hidden in a small cluster of nondescript storefronts, Binh Minh has consistently won high praise for its baguettes, Vietnamese sandwiches, and other baked goods like the pate chaud, puffed pastry stuffed with the rich pork liver spread. The sandwiches come on a skinny baguette and are more minimalist than some on this list. For the sake of variety, it’s worth it to try the tomato-sauced sardine banh mi that proves the merits of canned food. Binh Minh is open for delivery and takeout."

Google
Tasty food, great prices. The place was clean and had lots of ready-made options. We tried the grilled beef, pork, and beef stew sandwich—our daughter thought it was a bit sweet, but I liked the hint of jalapeño (she skipped it). The pork & egg bun and the meaty dumpling were also super good. A bit far from home, but perfect for a quick, budget-friendly meal.

Google
Best Banh Mi I’ve had in Portland, Oregon hands down. I eat two at a time (heads up!) You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but my favorite would be the number 1 and number 2 😋 go get you some ☀️

Google
So good! The Banh Mi’s are a bit smaller than the competition but much higher quality. The bread is perfect and all the ingredients are fresh. Definitely a solid meal. I will be back. I ordered #1 Dac Biet and #10 grilled pork. So good!

Google
Favorite banh mi in Portland. The flavor is right, the bread is crispy but not hard and won't hurt your palate, and price is right. If I could complain about anything, the price could be even lower (I've had cheaper banh mi in Toronto or Houston) but in Portland this is the best flavor and I'm pretty sure best price too. Everything on the menu is good but I particularly recommend the dac biet, xiu mai, and heo nuong.

Google
Not sure if it was the time of the day that I went to this place, but both the banh mi I had gotten was the most saddest ever looking sandwiches. Never had such a disappointing banh mi in my life until this day. Avoid getting something from here in the late afternoons to save yourself. Not worth the price paid.

Google
Absolutely great food at an affordable price, friendly service and clean inside. Will be coming back often.

Google
Delicious banh mi and Vietnamese snack shop in Portland. Their combination banh mi one of the best we found in the area and my partner loves their vegetarian banh mi, which rivals ones even from Westminster, LA. If you're not into banh mi's, this place also has great selections of Vietnamese savory snacks, like their stuffed rice rolls, dippable beef stew, and those saucer looking white things with shrimp powder and fried scallions.

Google
Binh Minh Sandwiches is my go-to spot for classic, no-nonsense bánh mì. The bread is perfectly crispy and fresh, and the combo sandwich (with cold cuts and pâté) is flavorful and well-balanced with pickled veggies and herbs. Everything tastes authentic and the price is hard to beat — usually under $6.

Yelp
Friendly and efficient service - we go for the specialty deli items - specifically the tapioca balls ( not sure what the name is in Vietnamese but they're called Sakou sei moo in Thai) the viet version isn't as sweet or peanutty but still the perfect texture and the dipping sauce is delicious- better yet you can order in advance ... Not sure what to say about the sandwiches compared to other places but I do prefer the bread- perfect combo of fluffy light soft interior and nice crunch ( had the last 2 bites of hubby's)- no pic alas

Yelp
What a neat, little place. The ladies who run the counter are so friendly. I felt a little weird taking photos in there though, so no pics this time. But we ordered #10 and #3 banh mi, and bun beo. It was all so very tasty. I we had a spot like this in Beaverton, I'd probably go every morning.

Yelp
A bag of 5 personal size plain Bánh Mì is $5; $1 for each. It seems pricey but what else can you really get for $1 these day. Their plain banh mi is so worth it for the price since you can eat it however and whenever you want. You can freeze them if you don't eat them within 1 weeks or so and they will still taste as fresh using over or my personal favorite, the air fryer!

Yelp
Binh Minh offers good service and decent amount of selection of different Vietnamese snack/alternatives for those not feeling like Banh Mi. Clean store, can't imagine them getting marked down by dirty dining ever. Giving them 3-stars due to being expensive and going cheap on portion of their banh mi. Priced about the same as Best Baguette or Lee's Sandwich but the portion is much smaller; seriously had 0.001oz of grilled chicken in my order. Sandwich is dry and nothing special, I was expecting home made mayo/sauce to substitute for the lack of protein. If the banh mi was decent size/taste, this place would rock 5-stars easily. This place is clean and doesn't look cheap so you might get away bringing a (cheap) date here but I wouldn't count on getting full on a single sandwich.

Yelp
Little hole in the wall with best Banh Mi. This is truly a little gem by Ma &Pa. Pa actually bakes the bread everyday. This place been here forever. Makes sure u ask for extra meats. Very authentic; very tasty. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Ann W.

Yelp
Decent food , but their prices have doubled over the past few months. I would support more often but this hole in the wall is charging double what I could get at a large chain. Small parking lot, only fits about 3-4 cars at one time. The service is fast. I typically wait no more than 10 mins. In and out easily!

Yelp
Binh Minh is known for their baguettes. It is crispy and very light (compare to other local banh mi shops). Though the stuffing is bare compare to other places, they have increased a little bit more than in previous years. Prices have increased just as every where else has. The prices for banh mi ranges from $4.95‐$6.50. The patê sô are $1 each. Meat to pastry ratio lacks. They also have cha giò for $1 each as well.
google avatar

Yelp
A bang for your buck! I'm not sure where else you can get a $3/4 banh mi in Portland! This banh mi was delicious too! The texture of the bread was perfect. I like that it wasn't too crispy or crunchy. It was stuffed with meat and flavor. Also tried the pate chaud! Delicious. The filling was so meaty and the outside was so flaky. They have a great variety of prepared foods and I would love to try it all!

Yelp
Dang I really wanted to like Binh Minh. Ever since moving to Portland from SoCal, I've been mad craving some good ol' fashioned Vietnamese sandwiches. I saw their reviews and thought it was promising. I was sadly mistaken. Yelp, you failed me. I ordered the #1 Banh Mi Dac Biet for $3.75. I have to give it to them, their bread was light and fluffy with a crispy outer layer. However, they went cheap on the filling. I had a very thin layer of meat and even thinner layers of pate and butter. My craving was left completely unsatisfied because I didn't get the full flavors of what a banh mi should be. I tasted no pate or creaminess from the butter. Also, after eating the banh mi, I was still hungry. I'm a small lady and eat small portions. So for all the normal sized people out there, you're going to need 2 or 3 of these to feel full. Luckily, they do sell their pate and butter in separate containers as well as a bag of baguettes in packs of 5 for $3. I think perhaps next time, I will get their plain baguettes as well as their pate and butter and assemble my own sandwiches at home... in the meantime, the search for GOOD vietnamese banh mi in Portland continues.

Yelp
Binh Minh is one of Portland's oldest running banh mi shops, becoming a multi-location business that has found its way to this side of town. This area of SE has become an Asian hub of sorts, where a lot of Chinese and Vietnamese families have been gentrifying in the last couple of decades. Binh Minh is really at the forefront of it all. Their banh mi is deceptively simple: super soft baguettes that don't cut up the mouth, stuffed with fresh ingredients that make for a near perfect sandwich. They sell a variety of meats and classic renditions like cha lua (Vietnamese style ham?), xiu mai (meatball), cá (sardines), and of course bò, heo, gá (beef, pork, chicken). I am all for the dac biet (special wtih pork roll + ham) normally with an extra slathering of paté. The food they sell is beyond banh mi; there are numerous pastries and other baked goods that give binh minh a bit of versatility. They also have hu tieu (pork noodle soup?), bo kho (beef stew), and even cà ri gà (curry chicken). I can dig their $3 ca phe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee) any day of the week. Plus, it makes for a nice combo with the banh mi. Besides some work done to their counter tops and the recent installing of the LCD menus, not much has changed at this location. It's still as small as ever with just one table and a couple of chairs. There is still a divey element to the place, which I think gives it a lot of charm. The parking situation can be frustrating when they only have a couple of spots. It has never been crowded in here but I know Binh Minh's popularity is reaching new heights. I would tell most folks to skip the hot food they serve and stick with the banh mi sandwiches and all should go well.

Yelp
Binh minh basically nailed banh mi. I haven't been to Sea or Dtla for $3 sammies so I eat what I like. I like this one. Other people nailed it, soft bread, toasted just right, my mouth is in tact and my taste buds are singing! And!! AND!! (bless my whiteness lol) the lady asked me if I liked it spicy, so they care at least that much. House special was pretty good. Gotta get the #1 on every menu, that's my theory. I also went with my favorite: grilled pork. Sweet, tangy, marinated lemongrass pork, toasted then topped with the veggies. Also available were steam buns, pastries, grab and go sodas and chips. They know whats up. Covid protocol? Oh yessir, plexiglass and sanitizer abound, gloves and masks for all even in the back of the back of house. The phone rang while my food was being prepared and as I watched the lady stepped over to answer, hung up, put on a fresh glove and carried on. I've seen "better" places mess that up. Legit operation, IMO. The outside looks exactly how you'd think in proximity to 82nd and if you're lucky there's 2 parking spaces outside. The food is good. Eat some.

Alex N.

Yelp
Some of the best banh mi's in town. Can't wait to go back! Had a nice variety of Vietnamese deli foods too.
google avatar

Jackie M.

Yelp
My family ordered the vegetarian bahn mis. They were fairly bland, too salty for me, and a bit dry. It was edible, but I would never go back.
google avatar

Amy T.

Yelp
This is the BEST banh mi in town. Better than Seattle, and rivals SoCal sandwiches. They're open for pick up only - call in your order as it's a limited menu due to Covid. I'm an avid Yelper, but let me tell you...most of the people who have been eating here for more than 30 years are not on YELP. There are a lot of reviews for new places that are trendy, and boasts $10+ sandwiches.... respectably, a banh mi in my opinion shouldn't cost that much. It is street food. Meant to be accessible, but no lack in flavor, quality, or love. Ambiance and location = it is what it is. Low overhead, probably little to no upgrades over the decades, but guess what? Who cares. They are dishing out amazing banh mis here and isn't that what we all came for? :) The bread. OH MY GOSH. Warm, crisp, flaky, fluffy, and chewy. It's not overly bready or doughy like many places, but is light and expertly made. The perfect vessel to hold pâté, handmade Vietnamese mayo, and all your fillings and toppings. If you're expecting a super packed sandwich this isn't it. They aren't meant to be, that's not how they're traditionally made. Personally, I always add extra meat (here, just $1 more!) These are subtle, flavorful, and addicting.
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
So yummy and food was excellent quality. A little "home in the wall". But good beyond good! I recommend it to anyone and everyone. Don't go for the looks...go for the food!

Shawn N.

Yelp
These sandwiches are very small and have very little filling. Compared to other places. Not worth the price. Service is friendly and helpful. Inside is clean and room for a quick bite.
google avatar

Tyler N.

Yelp
100% the best banh mi in town. As a Vietnamese American my parents were the one that actually introduced this place to me when I was young. Ever since then I have came back multiple times and every time left super happy and content. I do have one complaint and that is that it is a little small! Something like this should come in 2 foot longs! All jokes aside the portions of this spot is a little small compared to their competitors but the taste beats anybody around them including best baguette and lee sandwich. If you're really looking for that hole in the wall gold mine, come to this spot with a couple of friends and take the credit of showing them it!

Han S.

Yelp
I gave Binh Minh a one-star review two years ago because of the staff not wearing face masks at the beginning of the pandemic. Things are back to normal now and IMO their sandwiches are the best in Portland even though prices have gone up. Customer service has also improved. Recently, I tried their beef stew which was delicious. Their meatball sandwiches were really tasty too!
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
My new go to spot for Banh Mi. It's a small mom and pop shop and it's not anything fancy. The banh mi is always hot and fresh. I would also recommend the pate chaud. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
Something about Vietnamese sandwiches in Portland makes them so much better than Seattle. Anyways this happens to be my new favorite banh mi place! The beard is pretty good! Soft and the meat and mayo along with veggies make the sandwich. The parking lot on the other hand is very small and can be full which means you have to park on the street.
google avatar

Jena A.

Yelp
Stopped in to grab a banh mi for lunch. I ordered the number 9 and it was delicious! The baguette was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and the grilled beef tasted very fresh. The staff was not super friendly or communicative but they were fairly quick.
google avatar

Yelp
There was a lot of hype I read on this place with articles and reviews. The place just fell flat. Got the grilled chicken, grilled pork, pate chaud, and beef soup. Seems like this place is all about the bread and I'll give to them. Everything else lacked. Barely any meat and the veggies had crunch bunch nothing else. The slice of jalapeño was the star of the show. The pate chaud had just a tiny bitty piece of meat in the center of this pastry. It was very dry. The one thing I very much enjoyed was the soup. The soup was full of flavor. Very good. If I went back, but probably won't. I would get the soup. You would need to get 2 of them ($10 each) to equate to what you could get at pho hung. Maybe I just need to try another place. The one place I keep going back to to compare is that food truck at cartlandia down the road. That place a flavorful saucey pork with pickled veggies and you could actually taste the lemongrass. I'd head that way and just have them double the meat.

Yelp
8th stop on my 2017 PDX Take Out Banh Mi Throwdown takes me to Powell near SE 82nd. I got the Banh Mi Heo Nuong for $3.50. Here is how the scoring went: Venue: This is a very convenient location in the middle of "Asia Town". A few parking spaces and pretty nice and clean on the inside. 8/10 Service: The person who took my order and made the sandwich was accommodating but talked to another customer the whole time while making my sandwich. The person who took the money was super grumpy. 6/10 Bread: This is a really great baguette. Really close to perfection. Nice crust and dough. 9/10 Vegetables: This was unfortunately not very well done. The do chua had no daikon. No cucumbers either and less vegetables than their other location. 5/10 Meat: The grilled pork was really good and a decent amount although no pate. 8/10 Value: At 9" long for $3.50 and the quality of the bread and meat, this is a good value. 8/10 Total Score: 44/50 = 73% This was a good Banh Mi but not as good as their Rose City Park location. It's the same ingredients and bread but the other location assembles it better with more vegetables and better balance, however, this place is a much nicer venue and better location. Still it's a better choice than the 2 other "big box" Banh Mi shops near Powell and SE 82nd.

Yvonne Y.

Yelp
Just okay. Nice service but sandwiches were just okay. Chicken was dry. Expected more given the great reviews. Not much atmosphere or places to sit which is fine but the description online made it sound more. Ordered 3 sandwiches. House special was the best out of the three.
google avatar

Noel M.

Yelp
Consistently good Bing Minh sandwiches, probably the best in the Portland area. My go to is #1 and #2. Reason I rate them better is the quality of the bread as well as their meat (especially pork meatball for #2). Additional evidence is that majority of their customers are Vietnamese (speaking Vietnamese) versus "Portland food hipsters".
google avatar

Zach J.

Yelp
Very good place to get sandwiches! I usually get the chicken sandwich and it comes out great! Very good bubble tea, recommend to visit!
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
YUM! A Vietnamese bahn mi place that has a bahn mi at actual prices and not inflated ego prices??? How can that be? How can they not be charging $8 for one? Come on? Isn't that the way? Overcharge for a simple sandwich because you can. Do you get the sarcasm here? This is good food, and really, really cheap. If you are paying more than $4 for a bahn mi, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Take a little trip out to 82nd or down to Bihn Mihn. You won't regret it. I had a thinly sliced bbq pork sandwich on some nice crusty French bread with mayo, carrots, cilantro and plenty of jalapenos. It was also a decent sized sandwich. With a mango nectar and some Pocky (yes, I got Pocky) I only paid $6.25. That's it!!! I wolfed that thing down in five minutes flat and I should have gone back in for another. The two women running the place were friendly, even offering up steamed buns. I'll get that the next time I'm in the area. Anyone for shrimp chips? They have them in abundance. Home made custard? Sure. You come here and you'll be full and spend less than $7 for a compete meal. You'll also be happy you came. Get down to Bihn Mihn in the way southeast. Or at least as far southeast as I've gone thus far. Enjoy.
google avatar

Devon S.

Yelp
Best bahn mi I've found in Portland and trust me...I looked. Show stopper is the beef stew. Holy good lord it's something I'll dream of in the after life. I'll pop in for a Vietnamese iced coffee and a couple boa and with tip it's $10. Don't sleep on the little flakey puff pastry's under the heat lamp. They're sinful.
google avatar

Josie N.

Yelp
Friend told me to try this place since she knows I'm on a hunt for good banh mi. The outside isn't anything special, but the inside looks clean little deli type shop. Their menu is a little strange, main menu shows their soups and bobas, and their glass window displays a sheet for the sandwiches. They have a decent amount of choices and also offer vietnamese snacks and baked goods. I ordered their pate sho that she never gave me which was a bummer, a few cookie/cracker dishes that is a nice snack, tapioca mango dessert, and 4 sandwiches. The bread is small... and they are kind of skimpy with the meat and veggies so I was a little bummed out... I also ordered their pickled meat that is usually in a sausage or thicker cuts, but they sold it in Slither of a size which... i would guess if you never tried it, but its not satisfying. Their drink sizes are also on the smaller size. Honestly portions not for me. Not for that price.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Good bahn mi, bread is just right, fillings great, nice sauce. I wouldn't mind a little more fillings or tofu on them.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite spot to get banh mi sandwiches. I have yet to be disappointed with anything I've ordered from here. My go-to is the cha lua and they stuff it with just the right amount of meat and veggies. For $3.50, that's a steal. I LOVE that the sandwich is toasted for you, and the bread is soft yet crispy. The vietnamese iced coffee is also delicious here, not too sweet and not too bitter.
google avatar

Nina N.

Yelp
My friend and I had drove from Seattle to Portland and I have been wanting to try this since I've heard so many great things about it. The restaurant is located in a really small strip mall and is on the right corner. When you walk in, it is very casual. You'll find a number of dishes besides the banh mi. My friend and I ordered #3, 1 Pate Chaud and Vietnamese Coffee, and I gotta say I was disappointed. The best thing we had was the coffee. The banh mi was quiet small and it consisted of the same things as regular banh mi's but it was not as flavorful as I was expecting, it was needing more. People hyped the banh mi up a lot more then what it really was. I like the idea that they make everything on site. But that was about it. My friend also had the Pate Chaud and he said it was disappointing because there was a tiny piece of meat inside, when he bit into the pastry he didn't really he had eaten all the meat already. I don't think I'd make an out of the way detour for this banh mi again.
google avatar

Mz T.

Yelp
I came here last week. And the food is okay but quality lacks. The sandwich I order has sesame seeds on the grilled pork, I was confuse and it taste like beef jerky instead of pork. Also the steamrolls were really good and great portion till I was eating into the middle and found a strand of black hair in the stuffing; I was a little shock and lost my appetite. The dry mango was terrible. Taro chip was plain and sweets on some pieces, I'm assuming they melt palm sugar onto the taro chips. The sesame balls were very very terrible and dry.

Yelp
I feel like hipsters are starting to catch on to the awesomeness of the vietnamese banh mi sandwich. This is one of the few places where I feel like I can get a legit sandwich. Some of the nicer hipster restaurants are offering "bonne mi" (note: the correct spelling is banh mi) style sandwiches on the menu and although I'm flattered that people are starting to notice vietnamese foods beyond "pho," it also feels weird to see it gentrified and showing up at American delis. Anywho, this place is located in a tiny strip mall with one of the weirdest parking lots I've seen off of Powell. (Im definitely sure the parking isn't up to code) Its a tiny non-descript mom and pop shop and if you blink you'll miss it. Nevertheless, the store offers legit, un-pretentious banh mi sandwiches at a great price. They also have other foods but I feel the only other noteworthy item is the "xoi," it's the weird looking purple or orange or green rice that's wrapped in the Saran Wrap. I'd imagine that it looks absolutely alien to a westerner but it's basically rice cooked with coconut water and the color comes from other plants they use to flavor the rice. Most of the xoi at binh Minh is sweet, though there may occasionally be the savory kind that contains dried shredded chicken or dried shredded pork. You can easily fill yourself up here for about 5 bucks. Be sure to carry a little bit of cash-- they will charge you a 50 cent fee for credit card transactions under 10 bucks or so.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite sandwich shops in Portland. We have been coming here with the family for a number of years. Located right on 78th and Powell Boulevard, it is very easy to miss this little sandwich shop and as you are driving down Powell Boulevard. The parking lot is very small and compact but there is additional parking in the back of the shop. The interior has a very homely feel to it. The shop is family owned with the workers being friendly and personable. The sandwiches are freshly made with an abundance of assorted meats and vegetables to choose from. We usually get our sandwiches toasted which makes them nice and fresh tasting. There is also a nice little selection of Asian and Vietnamese type desserts. Their specialty is the Binh Minh sandwiches. The prices are very reasonable around three dollars and up. The service here is also great we can get in and get out with our food rather quickly. Overall, we love the great tasting sandwiches and friendly service.

Yelp
I work in the area and I often frequent the trio of banh mi in the area: Binh Minh, Best Baguette, and Lee's Sandwiches. Here's a quick breakdown: Binh Minh has the lowest cost ($3 for a banh mi dac biet, $3.50 with a card) and the best bread of the three without question. The meat also taste freshly sliced. The sandwiches however are about 2/3rds the size of Best Baguette and Lee's Sandwiches. Best Baguette is the most convenient shop (drive thrus are amazing), but the bread is inconsistent. Lee's Sandwiches is the most filling (I need at least 2 Binh Minh sandwiches to fill up), but their bread isn't as fluffy as Binh Minh and they have the highest cost ($5, which is still pretty good for a meal). If you're looking for a place where you'll see the same person every day, go here - it's nice to get great service from a local place that'll make you feel like you're a part of the community.

Yelp
This lovely gem restaurant deserve way more recognition than this. This place have been here longer than I can remember. The price for the amount of food is affordable! I still can't find another banh mi place that could top this place off. Their desserts are to die for! Always hot and fresh. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Malyna T.

Yelp
Good spot for a quick bite to eat. Got the bbq pork sandwich for only $3.50. Everything on the menu is really cheap. I would recommend coming here rather than best baguette!
google avatar

Christina B.

Yelp
This spot was recommended by my brother who says the Banh Mi tastes better than Best Baguette. It was also cheaper, too. Win! Got pate chaud to-go. My dad also got a Vietnamese coffee to-go. Banh Mi was tasted great. All the flavors melded together well and everything tasted fresh. I tried some of my dad's coffee. It tasted too bitter for me, but my dad enjoyed it. The place itself is small so seating is limited. There's a tiny parking lot so if there aren't open spaces then one would have to find street/residential parking.

Yelp
As I write this still trying to choose between 3 & 4. Small space, other packaged foods tucked in here and there. Good prices for the sandwich but not sure of the value. The bread was very good, different than my favorite best baguette, but they probably don't bake it themselves (though there is a Binh Minh bakery up on broadway.) The vegetables were crispy but not enough meat or mayo/moistening. Had the sardine, & that small' the house special had pretty meat but again not enough. Mabe the $1 for extra meat would tip the scales--and still be a good price--but for now it's 3 stars.

Lynn V.

Yelp
Worse customer service ever. My 11 years old son got curse because He wanted to add pate for his Bánh mi. Just a simple answer that you don't have it. You don't need to cursed on a child. I'm very disappointed in your service. Whoever did that to my son should feel shame of yourself. Never go back there again and wish you luck wish your manner.

I agree that they have the best banh mi in Portland but they fail to wear masks and when I asked them to she legit stared at me for a good 10 seconds before agreeing to...employees don't wear masks either..... plus when she was making the subs for my grandparents she was talking/shouting to the employee in the back..

Yelp
They raised the prices since the last time I was there and when I asked for a water to go she said she would only give me water if i was dining in. I felt that was really rude considering I bought two sandwiches, two pate chaud, and a steam bun. It was not like I wasn't a paying customer. I will be taking my business to An Xuyen Bakery from now on.

Yelp
Bae took me here and I had the meatball sandwich and OMG to die for! So tasty and delicious. The bread is light, fluffy, and crispy. I usually never order the meatball but I must say this place makes it hands down! Got me craving for more. It's a must try here. The only bad thing is they are pretty stingy with the meat. You would have to order extra meat for a buck more.

Yelp
Delicious banh mi with option to add in a fried egg. I think there was a build it yourself option banh mi where all the ingredients are served on a plate.

Yelp
My friend recommended BM sandwich. So we drove across metro from west to east Portland. First experience was not a good experience. We ordered 3 bánh mì, special, meatballs and grilled pork. One bánh mì made wrong, instead of meatball we received Chinese char sie. I told the owner of the mistake and immediately she told me I ordered wrong and insisted that I was wrong and not their fault. Too bad for her, I always love to eat meatball sandwich and absolutely hate char siu and of course I never order char siu sandwich. On top of that, they over charged us by $1.25. That is not much but I don't like to be cheat at. Maybe, they just made a simple mistake there. Since we paid cash. It is hard to prove it without receipt. Good honor business should not immediately accuse customers of wrong doing. I'm rarely complain or write review if it very bad or upset me greatly. I was looking forward to have a good lunch but was insulted and made me angry. We only ate special and grill pork sandwiches, both are ok, nothing standout. Will give a taste review for meatball sandwich, VNese steam pork sausage, steam pork/snail sausage and bake shrimp/spicy rice patty. I hope this is not their normal business practice. Will give another shot when I'm in that area if the rest of other foods are good. Recommends to ask for receipt to know what you are paying for. We didn't ask for our receipt but the total we paid is higher than the sum of all items we purchased

Yelp
This is one of those reviews I may regret later. Great sandwiches at great prices. Makes me wish I was better with languages. Anytime there's an issue, it's almost always language-barrier-caused. That said, the staff is always cheerful and willing to fix it. So, go ahead. Swarm in, make them raise prices to ease the crush of people cramming into the shop... just remember to tip, the people who work there deserve the love.

Yelp
Great price point for a quality sandwich. They won't overload it with ingredients, but they will make sure that all the ingredients are delicious and on a fresh baguette. If a sandwich won't satisfy your hunger alone, try getting a steam bun along with it, cheap and delicious I recommend the bbq pork steam bun.

Yelp
A must go for me whenever we visit Portland. Which is once a month. Their banh mi is delish and their soups are good too.
