I hate making single use plastic waste—especially since plastics come from fossil fuels, which are exacerbating the climate crisis—and appreciate the cortado served in a real glass. Birch is always delightful, but this shop is just amazing. Even if its busy, your drink will be made super fast without sacrificing the incredible coffee/expresso experience that makes Birch synonymous with high quality coffee.

Cozy little cafe with bar seating with a street-view. Excellent place to people-watch while waiting for your coffee. The staff were friendly, well-dressed baristas which played into the setting.

My favorite coffee in Manhattan and this is also the branch of Birch coffee which has the best prepared coffee and really good peanut butter cookies . I wish they had more seating so one could enjoy a place to drink one’s coffee . The cafe has all the necessities needed for your caffeine fix , all provided in a very tiny space . Nothing is lacking except seats . The service is friendly and fast too .

Stopped here a few years ago, trying to identify "where the locals go" in Manhattan. It seemed well-reviewed, so we walked through Central Park and gave it a go. The iced coffee (red eye variant) was good - I struggle to find truly GREAT coffee in NYC. We also had a fresh pastry - also good. Service was acceptable, and the atmosphere was cozy.

Hands down the best almond croissant in the city. They spread the marzipan throughout the dough instead of the usual tube of almond goo down the center. Wonderful concept! The honey rosemary biscuit is also amazing, and the cheddar scallion scone is very savory cheesy.

I got the Birch Spiced Latte, which I quite enjoyed. I'm usually a fan of spiced lattes, so I appreciated this specialty. I would say that the latte was solid, but it didn't knock my socks off. I would come again though!

Yay for no up charge for oat milk. The latte was pretty fairly priced, but I wish there were a stronger espresso flavor (got overpowered by milk).

Birch coffee is a cozy, local favorite serving some of the best coffee in the area. It's impossible to avoid in the winter -- The string lights, tinsel, and rustic hip appeal is perfect for evoking a comforting winter ambiance. Despite the compactness of Birch coffee, the quality of its coffee extends beyond its walls, drawing in people from all over for a delicious sip. The Baristas are always really friendly and seem to love working there. With only two sizes, it's worth getting a large latte at ~7 dollars which is the price of some grande drinks at Starbucks. Given one espresso equals 2 shots and the smoothe creaminess of the overall latte, the price is worth it. Birch satisfies my coffee cravings all day too! I'm truly impressed by Birch, and it has earned its place as 5 star coffee shop among the UES community of coffee lovers. Recommendation: Seasonal Spiced Iced Latte

Birch Coffee has some really solid coffee at reasonable prices in the area. The staff who works there are also really nice which is always a plus. I got a hot matcha drink and it was pretty good, I like that it was unsweetened so that you could actually taste the matcha flavor. All in all, it's a solid coffee place.

We visited the location inside a large subway hub. My family enjoyed their drinks. The one thing that bothered us was that the beautiful decor (flowers, vines, wood beams) were covered in dust above the heads of the baristas.

Come on guy working here at 9 am on Monday. At least pretend, for a second, to be friendly. What a horrible way to start a morning with a dude that seems to hate his life. Rude and obnoxious for absolutely no reason. Latte was average at best

I walk by this place all the time and finally decided to stop by and get a coffee! I got a hot caramel latte ($6.80). I wanted something sweet and this was recommended to me by the barista. It was a flavorful latte that was not too sweet! The cup is also super cute! I would only get a coffee here as a treat for myself once in awhile.

Coffee was good but I had to write about a weird experience I had when ordering. At coffee shops I normally order a 16 ounce hot latte with four shots of espresso. So I ordered exactly that, but then was told that if I wanted a 16 ounce hot coffee that I would have to be charged for two small coffees even though they have two different sizes on the menu, they don't specify what they are but they have cups out to show you the different sizes. so it's a little misleading. I couldn't stomach the thought of buying one coffee for the price of two so I just ordered something different. Maybe something they could do is just change their menu to offer all three sizes for the cups they display.

Definitely one of the best lattes in New York, and maybe of all time. Visiting home and I couldn't wait to come by and grab a cup! It's top-notch. I got the hemp milk latte and it's the closest thing to almond milk. There's absolutely no bitterness or sourness to their coffee beans. It's the right amount of creaminess. I believe they also have a punch card if you go often. Just be aware that there's no seating here. There a bench outside, but don't bank on it (pun, because the word "bank" comes from the word "bench!" Get it?!).

I just moved to NYC for about a month, so it's my first time visiting this famous local coffee chain. Taste: I ordered a flat white. The cup is super cute, with your name on it. But the taste of the coffee is a bit bland, lacking the coffee flavor. Vibe: The inside of the store is quite small. You can find cute little swags on their shelves/hanging on the wall. It reminds me of my fav coffee shops in SF. The vibe of the surrounding areas (Lexington Ave/63rd st station) is pretty good too. I visited this place on a Saturday afternoon. It's not too crowded and noisy. And you can find lots of pretty townhouses and restaurants nearby.

Such a cute grab n go neighborhood coffee shop! While visiting NYC, I had my coffee here for multiple days. That quickly and the morning barista recognized me and my most likely order! The coffee is really good and the baked goods are nothing to sneer at either. I definitely recommend you start your morning sitting on the bench outside with a cup of coffee in hand greeting all the regulars' dogs.

Complimentary serving of a giant fly if you order a quick bite. Birch is one of my favorite coffee places in the city. By far better than Starbucks and Dunkins hence I literally go looking for Birch wherever I am. It comes close to Gregory's and La Colombe. I was passing by 63rd and lex and decided to get a coffee and muffin. To my horror I saw a giant fly resting comfortably on a croissant. I doubt the staff had any awareness or not sure if they didn't care. Lost my appetite....it's just sad when good places take hygiene lightly. Makes you question if you should trust this place anymore.

I like birch coffee. Tried their coffee at two different locations and quality are good at both locations! Ordered the ice latte in the morning and it was refreshing!

I like Birch, but their hours are brief and completely different than what Yelp tells you. Just wasted time and effort to come here and find it closes 4 hours earlier than Yelp told me. Good job, Yelp! You're wrong about the hours of virtually every uptown Manhattan coffee shop, west or east.

Birch Coffee East 62 Street is a location I thought I visited with my Yelp children. I know I enjoy Birch Coffee and they have unusual delicious pastries. I'm here today for the Everything Scone. As soon as I approached the front I realized I had never been here before. The seating outside was limited to a bench where two people were already seated. Everyone waits outside until there's room to go in. It's very limited space inside. I just wanted the Everything Scone I saw on the Birch business page. When I went in and saw they had plenty of them I got in line. The line moves quickly because they have a couple people working behind the counter. I was shocked when he said the scone was $4.90. I guess that includes tax. I grabbed my bag and decided I would hightail it home for lunch. All the way home I was mad at myself for spending that much on a tiny scone. Those sentiments didn't last when I ate it! This Everything Scone was a fresh delicious biscuit textured scone. The darned thing needs to be twice the size! I definitely could have eaten two with no problem. That would be almost $10. I could have a whole meal for that price. I'm very sad to say I have to be in a rare mood to buy a Birch scone again for that price. I guess the food is how they make their money. Or by the looks of their full pastry case maybe it's not selling! Other than the price and seating, both of which are important to me, this is a good Birch for grab and go. I do prefer the bigger Birch location uptown on the West Side at 95th Street. I doubt very seriously if I will return to this location.

Needed a quick coffee. Found this place. SUPER stint but wow! GREAT coffee. Oat milk mocha and almond milk latte. Really great quality coffee. Had a choc chip scone and Nutella banana bread

Came by the other morning for coffee and it was a decent experience. The cashier was courteous and short, in a typical New Yorker fashion. Ordered a Mocha and it was quite tasty. Chocolate wasn't too sweet, espresso was smooth, and mocha was the perfect temperature! Their small mocha was definitely a small! They do take contactless payments via Square!

I made it my mission to find decent coffee places around the city. Starbucks is great, but finding gems like this that brew their own blend of coffee is incomparable. For starters, this is the CUTEST little shop! Baristas were extremely friendly and were excited to hear it was my first visit. I decided to go with the cold brew and man was it delicious! I could taste the freshness (for all my coffee drinkers you know what I means). I was a little bummed they didn't have almond milk because I generally don't drink cream, however I was pleasantly surprised to find out they had Oatly milk! I have only found two coffee shops that serve this milk so I was a happy camper when the barista told me they had it! Definitely give this place a shot because it's worth it.

Small coffee shop, but great quality of coffee. I really enjoy their cappuccinos - already been here twice. Don't forget to use the punch cards for every time you make a purchase! 10 purchases for a free drink.

Small coffee shop off of Lexington Avenue that's never too crowded in the morning. Have been here a few times to try out their drink and food options before heading to work in the area. Most recently ordered the Iced Redeye ($5) and an Everything Scone ($?). As is much of their coffee selections, the beans are strong and full of flavor. Solid with a bit of milk and simple syrup provided to the side. The everything scone is palm sized and topped with all the trimmings of an everything bagel. Fine flavor but overall dry - best while drinking the coffee simultaneously. The prepackaged raspberry bar is a solid choice if not wanting the baked goods. Service here is fantastic, as everyone is cheery and quick to get orders out. Would like to see a concise food menu up front, though the drinks are well worth coming back for.

Birch is one of those spaces that is hard to walk by. Somehow I shuffled past it to work for nearly a year, but the wooden interior and small, inviting space always made me want to wander in. I finally let in and ordered an oat latte. I wasn't prepared for the tiny " small " cup that would be presented with the nearly $5 price tag. My colleagues got a good laugh at my baby latte and I'd already vowed that I wouldn't return. Or rather, shouldn't at that price. But of course, something about this tiny, cozy space with long lines at peak hours made me glance in again and I noticed a reasonable $2.75 drip. And in the same 8oz cup, just the size I need for coffee. Bonus, the adorable personalized cups (when they have time to actually fill them in) Oh, and the coffee is smooth and good if any of that matters at all.

Cute little coffee shop with much to be desired. My first time going, I wanted a decaf with almond milk. The Americano was suggested. I must admit it was pretty tasty. Normally coffee has that weird after taste to me. This one was a different, I was happy for the suggestion and wish I had more time to ask questions about the different options.

I was shopping nearby and wanted a quick coffee and pastry. It's a small shop like most nyc coffee shops so it gets crowded quite easily. I ordered an 8oz latte and a chocolate croissant. Both were very satisfying and the croissant was fresh. Even though they were backed up, the coffee was served quickly and at the perfect drinking temp. I highly recommend this shop if you're in the area and they roast their own beans if you're into that as well!

Cute little coffee shop just off Lexington Ave. There is no seating inside and just a bench on the outside but as its on 62nd - its a little quieter than being right on Lex. Coffee and hot chocolate were quite good. Pumpkin Spice muffin was delicious! Moist and full of flavor, unlike some places were the muffins just fall apart. Almond croissant was good too. French Boulangerie level? Non! But again, far better than some other coffee places I've gotten croissants from. Will keep this place on my list for when I'm in the area.

My go-to coffee spot! I love Birch and their coffee - I usually get a vanilla iced latte with oat milk and it's truly the best! The baristas are super friendly and they do offer a rewards punch card where your 10th drink is free as well as a student discount if you show your ID!

Well known, multi-chained Coffee shop with a more local taste and small shop aesthetic compared to the big chain players. $5 a drink. 4.25/5 stars as a coffee shop.

Cute little coffee shop near the 59th Lexington subway station. Macchiato was A+ and the mini scones were great too! Great spot to catch up with friends- homey and whimsical.

Stopped in for a drink on a Friday morning. I was surprised by the super small location. The only seating options are a counter with 3 stools. There is a limited menu with a few pastry items, Greek yogurt, etc... if you're hungry. I ordered the small chocolate chip scone, which was delicious. To wash it down I had a glass of their free water that is set out with small cups, and an iced mocha with oat milk. Several non-dairy alternatives are available, but I have been in an oak milk phase that borders obsessed. There was a steady stream of people coming in and out, and the decor is cool and industrial. The staff could have been a little more friendly/professional... but I guess that's what you get in NYC.

Giving my favorite Birch 5 stars! It's a small little coffee shop that I discovered many years ago and have been very pleased with everything :) Here's what I normally get here: * Oat-milk Latte (hot & iced are equally great!) * Chocolate croissant * Banana-bread (it's tiny, but REALLY tasty!) * Blueberry muffin * Chocolate muffin Bonus point: they have a stamp card so use it because once you're done, you can pick any drinks you want and you can ask for a large cup as well :) This place is super small and the seating area is limited, but if you come early in the AM or late afternoon, you should be able to grab a seat. Too bad this place doesn't have WiFi or bathroom though.

Meh. I got a latte with soy milk, the size is relatively smaller compared to other local coffee spots like Ninth Street Espresso. Reason why this is a 2 stars review is because this latte taste so water down. I felt like I was drinking regular coffee. Also, soy latte that cost $5.25 and taste like regular coffee? No thanks. Also, the barista was on his break for 10 mins so we had to wait. The guy at the register was very nice and said he can only do tea, cold brew or drip coffee.

This place has some really good reviews and since it's so close to school I decided to try it out today. It's a rather small place with enough seats for 5-6 people. They have limited dessert options like donuts, cookies (that's all I remember). I ordered a cappuccino and the carwash donut. The cappuccino was good, nothing to complain about and the donut (lavender and vanilla) was ok- just way too sweet for my taste. All in all a good place to check out if you're near by but probably wouldn't return again.

I've been to over 2 coffee shops in NYC. This one is by far my favorite. The large cappuccino had a heart in the foam. The flavor was even better than the Starbucks on Bison. There was an 11 year old French Bulldog in a stroller and we got to talk with the nice owner and tell her about our Neighbors English Bulldog that ate a frisbee and had to have it surgically removed. The cappuccino is really good, I will miss the experience.

I love Birch Coffee! Even though there is a Starbucks on the same block as my apartment I always make it a point to walk the extra few blocks to go to Birch coffee. This location is small and quaint and in the summer time they will leave the front open so you can enjoy your coffee with some fresh air! Their cold brew and lattes are absolutely delicious- you can't go wrongs stopping in here for some coffee! They recently added a rewards program (punch card) which is an added bonus. I'm hoping they come out with a phone app in the near future!

Good coffee cute little location. The people who work here are super chill especially in the morning! Not really anywhere to sit if u come in the afternoon. There's about 4 bar stools and a bench outside.

Atmosphere: I was in and out but the vibe was cute and bustling but not overwhelming. The space is very small and cozy. Service: no complaints:) Coffee: I got a black coffee, iced. My partner got one hot. Was 6+ bucks or so. Solid cup of coffee. Not in love, but I'll enjoy it. Boyfriend liked his. ONE MAJOR COMPLAINT that actually drove me to write this review: I'm all for these no-straw-sip-cups for cold beverages but mine is LEAKING like a muhfckr. Since it's a sip cup, I have to tilt it to drink so every time it leaks like a damn mini Niagara. Granted, it may be a defect cup, but still ruined my experience. So frustrating and coffee everywhere.

Service was really fast. I got the small hot chocolate and it pretty pricy for how small it was ($5). It was not very chocolatey and the milk was luke warm. I've had better, it was not that good. I wanted a pastry but the selection was very slim and the food looked a little old. My boyfriend got large iced coffee and he said it was pretty good. Had a nice flavor. Workers rushed us and were not very friendly. I would not come back here. It was so small inside too. Very cute aesthetic and decorations though!!.

The Quick: tiny location but the coffee is always excellent! It's right off the main avenue so a bit out of the craziness as well. A nice spot when you need to get away from the 9-5 hustle and get a great cup of coffee. Enjoy!

Birch has one of the best dirty chai lattes in the city. Their chai alone is great too. Pretty wide selection of beverages to order from and an assortment of baked goods, including a handful of gluten-free options. As for non-dairy options, soy, hemp, and oat are available. Birch is one of the few places in the city where you'll find hemp milk (it tastes best with a hot beverage). COVID stuff: You can't go inside of the shop as it's pretty small so they have a pick-up counter where you can place your order. When I went last, there was one barista working in the back and one person taking orders. Both were wearing masks and gloves, and there was hand sanitizer available for customers. Overall, the place was very clean.

Birch is my go-to neighborhood coffee shop on the UES. I personally love their mochas with oat milk and baked goods (esp if you arrive early in the day!). Their Nutella banana bread has an amazing crumb and goes excellently with coffee, as do their muffins (I've tried the pumpkin which was great!). It's a pop-in and grab coffee and go kind of place, and the baristas are really kind too! Always brightens my day to visit Birch!

This is my favorite coffee spot in NYC! Each and every time we come to NYC, we make it a point to come here. Like I will go out of my way to get an iced latte! The staff is always genuinely friendly and very fast. Even if there is a line, they clear it quickly. They offer a small not so impressive selection of food but I don't care, I don't go for food I go for iced latte's!!! A huge plus is that they offer up a simple syrup for your drinks. This makes all the difference in the world to those of us who drink iced beverages. You don't have to stir your drink for an hour trying to get your sugar to "melt".... I am telling you, try the espresso! You will be happy or even happier once that caffeine jolt kicks in! Ohhhhh.....I wish I could have an iced latte right now but alas, I'm in vegas and we don't have coffee roasters like Birch:-(
