I’d been wanting to come here for ages, and it did not disappoint. The spot is small and cozy, with a nice ambiance. The worker was very friendly. I had a sausage egg and cheese on a gluten free biscuit, and it was incredible. It was one of the best biscuits I’ve ever had, and again, I emphasize gluten free! Can’t wait to come back!

As a southerner living abroad, all I wanted when I came to NYC was a taste of home. This cafe did not disappoint. The biscuits and gravy were perfection and could have been served in any home in the south. We had ours with the cheddar jalapeño biscuit which was the perfect combination of savory and buttery. I highly recommend this cafe if you are looking for authentic southern food.

This place is absolutely adorable!! The smell of buttery flaky biscuits and coffee will leave you mesmerized!! They truly encompass Southern charm and make you feel warm and welcomed from the moment you walk in. Super friendly. The food is soooooooo good !!! As a Georgian I was really missing my southern biscuits in New York, and this place delivered! The Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit and the sausage gravy were excellent. Service was very friendly, and the food came out quick. We can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely amazing!!!! We had a few different pastas, both perfectly balanced on taste, reeeally good! Biscuit and collard greens was amazing, and fried chicken was just, I mean.. this is the spot! We are def coming back!!! 🔥🔥

Food was fantastic. I love Cuban sandwiches and I love biscuits and gravy. They do both as well as I've had. That includes places all over Georgia Louisiana and Florida. Biscuits and gravy with jalapeño cheddar biscuit was transformational!

When you only do one thing, you better do it exceptionally well. I can confirm that Bird Dog Café does biscuits better than anyone else in town. I had a hankering for biscuits and gravy, and the closest joint I know that serves them--White Oak Tavern--does a great rendition, but it's reportedly a seasonal menu item that hasn't made it back into their brunch lineup. My trusty Yelp app pointed me to Bird Dog Café as an alternative, and so off we went for a-biscuit-ing. We rolled in mid-Sunday morning to an otherwise empty joint, which was mildly surprising. Sunday mornings seem like an ideal day and time for biscuits, after all. Perusing the little eatery's offerings had me a little overwhelmed with choice. How can you have so many different combinations of biscuits and toppings to choose from?! Ultimately, we landed on a bacon, egg, and cheese and the biscuits and gravy and both were fantastic. The biscuits were delightfully buttery and flaky. Unlike other biscuits and gravy I've had elsewhere, I found the biscuit-to-gravy proportions to be flawless. Too often, I find myself wishing for more gravy when chewing on a a sad, dry biscuit. That wasn't the case here. And while I'd normally prefer my BEC on a croissant (Daily Provisions' is currently the bar by which I compare all other BECs), the biscuit version at Bird Dog was hearty, savory, and satisfying. No complaints here. Reasonable prices, superb biscuits, friendly service, and adorable ambiance combine forces to render this a return-worthy brunch destination.

Overall great food. The biscuits are just right in terms of size and flavor. The pimento cheese and eggs biscuits is rich and flavorful. Def worth getting it with their cheddar jalapeño biscuit. The Nashville chicken was okay. The chicken itself was great but not enough Calabrian chili butter to provide the spice you want for a Nashville style chicken. It normally comes with toast but you can ask to sub for a biscuit. Ample seating options - you order at the register and take a seat.

I came on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm - Google maps said it opened until 4pm but they actually were closing at 2pm so be wary of that!There's a good amount of seating inside as well as 2 tables outside. I tried Bird Dog's plain and cheddar jalapeño biscuits, paired with a bunch of delicious jams and spreads. My favorite combo was definitely the cheddar jalapeño biscuit smothered in garlic butter--so good! The biscuits are thick and perfectly layered with a golden, slightly crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy inside. They also have a southern menu and I tried the fried chicken sandwich which was also super delicious. the chicken was fried perfectly and I love the dressing with it. spreads/jams i tried: - garlic spread - scallion spread - berry spread - peach jam - strawberry jam - blueberry jam The food took a while to come out which I was surprised about, not sure if it's cause it took them time to pack everythingfor us. Also would've appreciated if the staff told us they were closing at 2pm. I only knew when they told subsequent patrons, but I was originally planning on eating there.

Came in on a Saturday morning because my boyfriend was craving a breakfast sandwich. It was not crowded with plentiful seating inside. I just wish there was outdoor seating, especially on a beautiful fall morning. I ordered an iced americano which was good, and then we split a mamas boy sandwich. The sandwich wasn't bad, but I was a little underwhelmed. The chicken was nice and juicy, but pretty small. Pickles were good but I didn't love the texture of the pimento and the fact that it was cold. The cheddar jalapeño biscuit had good flavor but again cold and with a dense, crumbly texture. My personal preference is light fluffy biscuits with lots of layers. The sandwich looks small but is quite heavy and filling. I liked the antique feel of the place, from the silverware to the frames on the wall. It was nice that there was hot sauce on each table- this enhanced the sandwich, but beware, it is very messy and we ended up eating it with fork and knife. Bagel sandwiches would be my pick over biscuit next time, but Bird Dog still provided a solid morning bite.

Really yummy brunch here over the weekend! It wasn't too crowded on a Saturday around 11am, and the staff working was very approachable and nice. Prices were reasonable for the food we got and the interior was cute - had a very airy and bright feel to it. We each ordered a breakfast sandwich and split both of them. On the bacon egg and cheese, we got pimento cheese instead of American and it was a game changer. Probably the best pimento cheese we have had in the city! The fried chicken was breaded well and juicy. Another fun aspect - you can pick your biscuit! We both got cheddar jalapeno which was delicious.. though depending on if you order a biscuit with butter, some of the butters are likely too sweet to have with the cheddar jalapeno. We left feeling full in the best way. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good biscuit breakfast sandwich!

Now that's a hearty meal! Come here for some heavy hitting biscuits and biscuit sandwiches. You'll definitely get that southern charm, but don't expect a ton of options - the menu is pretty much entirely centered around these hearty dough concoctions. The honey butter chicken biscuit was great. The chicken had a little kick, as did the cheddar jalapeño biscuit I chose for the "bun" of the sandwich. It balanced out nicely with the honey and the fried chicken itself. The sandwich was small but plenty filling with such heavy ingredients. The bacon egg and cheese biscuit was a little more traditional, and equally filling. Good iced latte too, as a bonus. All in all a good, small spot for breakfast and brunch, if you like biscuits!

I'd rate Bird Dog Cafe four and a half stars. We shared the honey butter fried chicken sandwich on a biscuit. Possibly one of the least healthy sandwiches I've ever had, but also quite delicious which I suppose is good for mental health. As expected, it's an ultra savory item. I opted to leave the bottom portion of the biscuit sandwich dessert and eat the top half as an open faced sandwich. The honey butter in the biscuit hits first. Big sweetness. Biscuit is soft and less flakey than others. Fried chicken was crispy and pretty greasy. Definitely something that would be perfect for a late night bite or a hangover cure. Not too much meat on the chicken; quite a bit more breading. The bottom portion of the biscuit continued to soak in the pool of honey butter. This made for a super sweet bite. The biscuit held up very well. I think might have liked the biscuit part soaking in honey butter the most. Service was quick and accommodating. There was one gender neutral restroom and an exterior sink in the back.

Really good food, fast casual vibe, and pretty inexpensive. There's a cute outdoor seating area and the staff was friendly. We'll definitely be back!

WOW WOW WOW! Best Biscuits I have ever had! Today was the opening day and glad I could go. Very cute and chill atmosphere, the manager is super nice and all the workers were very nice and knowledgable. I had the plain biscuit with the Honey Butter. But there are many different types of butters and a few different jams. To name some butters there are: Honey Butter, Garlic Butter, Bacon Butter, Caramelized Pecan and Garlic Butter just to name a few. And the jams are: Strawberry, Wild Blueberry and Peach. There are two kinds of Biscuits as well the regular one ( buttermilk) and Cheddar Jalapeño. They also have breakfast sandwiches I also got an iced latte decaf which was tasty. I HIGHLY recommend this place! I will be back for sure. Telling all my friends about it.

Such a fun little breakfast spot with character! Food was hot and came out in a timely manner! Ordered sausage, egg & cheese on a jalapeño biscuit, with a side on honey butter. AMAZING! (I ate before the camera so no picture). I also ordered an iced chai latte which was really good! Gentleman that served us was friendly and gave great feedback on the food options! Im confused on why this place isn't more busy! If you like biscuits then Southern Charm is the place for you. Lots of the favorites like biscuits and gravy, but they have an array of many different butters to go with the biscuits. Southern Comfort is a small restaurant right on Hudson Street, nothing very fancy with good casual service.

Southern breakfast basics perfected. Flaky yet substantial biscuits, crispy fried chicken, cheese in all the right places.

There's buttermilk biscuits and cheddar jalapeño biscuits and butters like berry & bacon. There's biscuits and gravy and a blue plate special plus killer coffee including decaf. Southern hospitality awaits and puts that south in your mouth. You'll be in biscuit heaven.

Recently moving to the city from the south, I came across Southern Charm on a stroll with a friend on a rainy day in the west village. The biscuits were beautifully fluffy and huge and reminded me of Sundays at my grandmothers. My friend also had the GF biscuit which she said was the best she's had and worth the trek from UES to WV. we will be back for sure!

Oh my... this food was incredible. I love southern food but MAN this was tasty and reasonably priced! Very small quaint shop, biscuits were incredible and the biscuit casseroles were very delicious. Highly highly recommend!

We stopped in this place on a walk, and it turned out to be amazing! The cafe is quaint with good music and cute decor. The staff were friendly and attentive. The honey butter chicken biscuit was delicious! Definitely recommending this place and coming back!

Serves biscuits with various toppings. I had the chicken honey butter biscuit sandwich. It was delicious! You order at the counter and they serve it; it was quick. There aren't many tables, but it's such a quaint restaurant (loved the photos and paintings of the dogs). Definitely enjoyed it.

Empire Provisions is a takeout / delivery option from the same team behind the restaurant Bird Dog (the pickup location is the restaurant!) I had a great meal at Bird Dog recently so was excited to try some more dishes from them via Empire Provisions. To order, they have their own form on their website and it was easy to order / pickup. I wanted to try their Mac Baby Rib Sandwich which comes with char siu ribs and hoisin BBQ. This was fantastic. The ribs were crazy tender, the flavors were Chinese BBQ inspired, the pickles cut everything well, and the bun soaked the juices up perfectly to create a really flavorful bite. It's worth nothing that my sandwich did have a chunk of bone I discovered when biting into it. It's supposed to be boneless but I'd check just to be sure. I also got their Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich. I've tried their fried chicken at Bird Dog and loved it, but unfortunately this sandwich was not as memorable. Maybe I just got a small piece, but I could barley taste any chicken through all the batter. It was also an extremely salty sandwich, not sure if due to the batter or sauce, which made it hard to eat. Overall I'd still order the rib sandwich again and would give their regular fried chicken a try. They also have dishes served at the sister restaurant, like the yummy Hush Puppies.

I had high hopes for Southern Charm after seeing a post on IG about it, but unfortunately, it fell a little flat of my expectations. I visited on Monday afternoon and there was a short line of about 2 parties ahead of me. The wait to order as well as the ordering process was a little drawn out. I felt that the server maybe was having an off day, but she wasn't particularly welcoming and was mishearing what I was ordering. The wait also to get the food was long as well, it took around 25 minutes to get 2 biscuits! I got the sausage with gravy biscuit and a bacon egg and cheese biscuit. The biscuit was made fresh, which I appreciated, but it was a little dry. It was crumbly and falling apart as I tried to eat it. The flavors were good though and event though I'm a bacon girl, I actually preferred the sausage and gravy more. Overall, it was an OK experience with pros and cons. Be prepared to wait a while if you decide to visit!

Amazing little hidden gem of a place! Southern Charm has delicious biscuits, fried chicken, and mouth watering flavored butters! The staff is very sweet and it's very easy to find a quiet dining table here. I would easily recommend this for an out-of-the-ordinary lunch spot!

My biscuit was not cooked, the chicken was all fat, and the cheese made me sick. I unfortunately had to throw the whole thing away and I spent $20 on it. Also was charged $3 for one slice of tomato. The woman working was rude as well.

Great service and good food. Initially I was told I could only order food to go because someone was having a private party and they were prepping but then the man behind the counter walked me through the menu. He then suggested I have a seat and could eat in if I wanted. I chose to dine in and the food was fabulous. I got the bacon egg and cheese biscuit. They did not have the cheddar jalapeño biscuit I asked for but they added extra cheese to my sandwich to compensate. The biscuit was crunchy in the outside and soft on the inside. I'll definitely be coming back to try the chicken biscuit and all the different compound butters.

Very good buttermilk biscuit. I got it with country ham. Was hoping for salty country ham, but it was a different country. Sandwich was flavorful and very filling.

Outstanding! The wait was so short and food came out quickly. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese with a regular biscuit which was great. I also got to try the the Mamas Boy with a cheddar jalapeño biscuit which was out of this world! Definitely give it a try if you're in the neighborhood

I went here with my boyfriend for a low-key sit-down brunch in the city. I have to say, it's an absolutely phenomenal weekend brunch spot for those looking for something fun, new, unique, and mouth-watering-ly delicious! The decor was delightful, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the biscuit breakfast sandwiches were mind-blowing levels of amazing. It was especially nice to have a peaceful morning ambiance that felt so cozy and homey. I would give it six stars if I could! We will be back for sure!

I stopped in last week and picked up some biscuits and butter to share with coworkers. We all loved them! Today, a friend and I had lunch there. We both had biscuits and gravy and we were in heaven. I may not be from the south but I did spend a year in Tennessee. The biscuits at Southern Charm were better than any I had in TN or anywhere else. 10 out of 10!

Was walking back from a meeting and heard about this place from instagram. Came in the 2 very nice gentlemen greeted me and took my order with excellent recommendations as to what to get. First time but definitely not my last. 10 stars customer service patient and knowledge both of them. Can't wait to try bird dog next!!!

Great l, modestly priced food in a charming setting. We had a bacon, egg and cheese and fried chicken on cheddar jalapeño biscuits (very mildly spicy). The biscuits were great, eggs were jammy, the bacon nicely rendered, and the chicken was tender thigh meat. I also had a generously large sized iced Americano. The service was friendly and quick. Will happily return.

So good! We had the classic buttermilk biscuit with honey butter and strawberry jam & the Kentucky Hot Brown biscuit entree. It was the perfect combo of sweet and savory! We will definitely be back.

i am always happy when i am around the west village because it means i can make a stop at my favorite biscuit place. the biscuit has the right amount of fluff and butter and there are so many butter options to pair it with. my current favorite is the honey butter

Highest quality and variety of dishes I've had around the city, what I love the most (beyond the food) is the atmosphere. They play incredible, upbeat music and the waitstafff and owner are so attentive. They tailor their dishes to your palette. Couldn't recommend more!
