Visited Bird Coffee Roasters and had a great experience! Ordered a Cappuccino — it was truly refreshing. The Cortado was smooth and flavorful, and the Espresso with whole milk was on another level — rich and perfectly balanced. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with outdoor seating facing the road, giving a relaxed, laid-back vibe. The service was warm and friendly, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for coffee lovers looking for quality brews and a chill atmosphere!

Google
The strength the place has it is definitely the view. I walked into the place and the cashier was kind and engaging. Ordered: Sandpiper 7/10 Just your regular latte with hazelnut flavor, the coffee did not taste very strong to me. Dirty Chai- 6/10- it had a really odd after taste.. Avo bagel 7/10- it was an okay sandwich all the flavors were there, but it was not something I would like come back for. Breakfast sandwich- 5/10 - this one was a bit disappointing, just an bacon, egg English muffin (they were out of sausage this time)

I usually try to leave only positive reviews, but my last two visits to this location made me feel that this is something the manager should be aware of. I visited in the morning, and it took 20 minutes to receive my coffee. Only six drinks had been made before mine, so the delay was quite surprising. During the wait, it seemed that the staff were more engaged in personal conversations than focused on service.

Google
Lovely spot to spend an early morning taking in the smells and sounds of the preserve across the street and then taking a walk to the beach. Food menu was surprisingly top notch with plenty of pastry options and great breakfast sandwiches. Expect a line, it gets busy, but once you’re there you understand why it’s so popular.

Nice spot to enjoy the morning before heading back to the Mountain. Coffee was yummy. My only feedback is please allow employees who are ill to fo home. Cashier was visibly sick with some type of cold. We all need to stay healthy and rest is best away from public as not to spread colds and flu. Good place to enjoy a warm cup of liquid of choice 😀

Google
Coffee was very milky, got the sandpiper and it tastes like flavored milk, baristas were smiling but looked like they’re rather be talking to each other and the customer was a big inconvenience to their conversation. Probably should have known when I asked a question and she didn’t even know the answer about the flavors because the workers don’t even drink the coffee here! Nice atmosphere tho but it’s not worth it for the service and coffee, or lack thereof sense it’s basically just milk

Google
Exceptional coffee and awesome views of Torrey Pine nature reserve make this a great Bird Rock location to visit and enjoy.

Google
Great spot for coffee (hot or iced) right near Torrey Pines State Reserve. Can have a long line, but that's how you know it is good! I've had several of their specialty lattes and would recommend them. Although...occasionally, it can taste similar so you can always ask for less sweet/more sweetener if needed. They take both cash and card. I have not had the food there, but they have many options now. The bathroom is shared with the other two businesses and it has both urinal and toilet in one room.

Yelp
This is probably the best coffee I've had in San Diego, and that's before even considering the insane view that you get here. The coffee is absolutely delicious without being too overpowering, and the iced lattes are the perfect balance of refreshing and creamy. The outdoor seating is another huge draw of this place. It's my favorite Bird Rock location, with a wonderful view of Torrey Pines and ample places to sit in the shade. There aren't as many tables as lounging chairs, and there are even fewer outlets, so you may not be the most productive if you set out to work here. This is an awesome coffee spot on the way to the beach or as a place to chill for a bit and read. The beachy vibe and high quality of their product is absolutely spectacular.

Yelp
Bird Rock is our usual go to spot when in Torrey pines. They're usually understandably busy but today was incredibly busy with not only a line out the door, but no where to really stand to wait for your order. Inside and out. The team was all hands on deck working and pumping orders out with a smile, so that always helps seeing a good hustle and being patient in return. I ordered the honey b iced latte with oat milk, my partner a cortado, and an iced mocha latte for my kiddo. Cortado was perfect as is. I'd say the lattes are under sweetened allowing you to adjust to how you like it. I added an extra dose of honey to my honey b and my kiddo sweetened her iced mocha to her liking. I also ordered the bagel breakfast sandwich and one on a croissant. No complaints on the food quality or taste, but it did take 30 minutes after we received our coffee until the food was ready. With how busy it was, it would have been nice give have a heads up on food ticket times at the register. On a good day, the ambiance has a great view, indoor and patio seating. When it's busy, it's almost impossible to enjoy a sit down bc it's so crammed and loud. Overall, I'm still pleased to see a local business doing so well in the community.

Yelp
We wanted coffee shops with a view and this is definitely one of them! Street parking wasn't too bad but we did come right after opening on a weekday. Such a pretty and serene spot to sit out on the patio with your coffee and enjoy the views! Nothing spectacular to say about service here. It felt like she was rushing us and didn't really care if it was our first time, not even worth giving a smile. On the plus side, drinks did come out pretty quickly. I chose the Honey B because they use a local honey! The drink itself didn't really taste much like honey since the cinnamon overpowered it but you do taste it on the back end. I liked my husband's Sandpiper latte a lot more, because of the subtle hazelnut sweetness. Both drinks were smooth though, just nothing crazy unique. Would mainly come here for the views but wouldn't come out of my way for the coffee. My rating is rounded up to 4 stars for the outdoor ambiance. They have several other locations to check out if you really want to get the coffee somewhere closer to you!

Yelp
Drinks: Left Coast latte - house made sea salted caramel latte is the equivalent to a Caramel Macchiato at Starbucks, but the sea salt adds a nice extra touch to the usual caramel flavor Service: everything is made-to-order Design: interiors is contemporary, simple rustic aesthetic with stained wood, hexagonal tile floors, exposed concrete, large coffee plant graphic; this location has a beautiful outdoor seating area with a great view of the Torrey Reserve/Los Penasquitos Lagoon across Carmel Valley Rd Overall: if you want some very good coffee from a local San Diego Roaster, then check out their cafes in the SD area

Yelp
Great location for a coffee meetup with friends! The views are unbeatable, there are ample tables and places to sit outside. I visited early Sunday morning, there was a long line but service was quick and the food was prompt! Avocado toast was delicious. You might be hard pressed to find parking upfront, but there is plenty of parking along side streets.

Yelp
Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is a busy spot, but for good reason--the coffee is excellent, and the service is fast! Even with the weekend crowds in Torrey pines, they keep things moving efficiently, though you should expect long lines during peak times. It's definitely worth the wait for a quality cup of coffee. A must-visit if you're in the area!

Yelp
Lovely little coffee shop near Torrey Pines. Came here right after we had finished our early hike at Torrey Pines (got to the coffee shop at 8AM) there's only street parking available but there were plenty of ppl leaving as we were looking for parking so it was relatively easy did I g a parking spot. The menu is small BUT perfect with a mix of iced and hot coffees, they also have a small menu of breakfast sandwiches that looks really tasty!! I had the iced left coast latte (a sea salt caramel latte) with oatmilk and it was FANTASTIC! They have a lovely front patio with limited seating but again people were leaving as we got there so grabbing a seat was relatively easy! Service is fast! Overall a great place with a great view, highly recommend and will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Great coffee company in San Diego before going to Torrey Pines hike Service no complaints - friendly staff Small place with a few tables inside and seating outside overlooking the Torrey Pines.

Yelp
Nestled across the scenic Torrey Pines Beach and Reserve, the café offered a picturesque escape on a sunny weekday. Despite the crowd, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. The barista was pretty helpful. I indulged in a perfectly flaky chocolate croissant and a latte made with medium-roast beans. The combination was a delightful treat!
google avatar

Yelp
Great Bird Rock location to grab a coffee before a hike at Torrey Pines. Lines are longer. The drinks are not as great as other Bird Rock locations and it'll take you 20+ minutes to get your drink at peak times. The breakfast croissant was delicious. Flaky croissant. Perfectly cooked egg. Flavorful arugula. The sandpiper was a bit bitter and overly nutty, unless you order the latte half sweetened. Overall 3.5 experience, rounded up for the great location.

Yelp
I came here around 9:14 am. After seeing that TPSR was pretty empty, I was hoping that BRCR would be as well-- shockingly it was full! There was no more seating available (outside and inside). It seemed as though the people seated would never leave even if they finished their drinks. It felt as though they were glued to their laptops with no intention of moving until they were done with business. I ordered at 9:23 am and service was quick because my order was called out swiftly (after 2 others received their drinks and pastries). I was a bit shocked at how fast my drink made it out if I am honest! Good on BRCR team for staying on top of the flow! I was also quite happy to see and hear that they added a speakerphone for the outside seating area! We could hear them relay people's names to come get their items. This helps lessen the crowd waiting inside, making more room for people in line and people sitting to not feel so enclosed. I got an "iced left coast latte (salted caramel)" with whole milk-- it was automatically 16 oz, so $6.99 . When I drink this, I don't think of salted caramel. Rather than buttery and sweet with a hint of salt and a creamy finish(WestBean Coffee Roaster vibes)...I'd say it has a nutty and dark (bitter, but not in a bad way) and smooth taste to it. It's different!! Not too sweet, if this profile is up your alley then you'd probably enjoy this drink! I noticed that they had elevated outdoor tables where the middle of the table was separated by a succulent planter box and I thought that it would be nice if they added more high chairs there for people to sit on. (Like one side has 3-4 chairs and the other with the same amount). What's cool about these tables is that they have bag hooks attached to them!

Yelp
Such a great location! The baristas were friendly and the coffee and food came up quickly. My dirty chai was solid, but very heavy on the chai. The avocado bagel sandwich was pretty good and I liked that it was precut.
google avatar

Yelp
I have come here many times to mixed experience. On one hand, the ambiance is very peaceful--sipping on a coffee whilst overlooking the lagoon is fantastic. On the other hand, the coffee is very hit-or-miss in a way that I would not expect from Bird Rock. Also, the food is very underwhelming and service is slow, although that's to be expected given the amount of people here. This place has the potential to be 5/5 but lacks the quality of Bird Rock, which means I'll never go out of my way to dine here unless I'm with out-of-town guests or something.
google avatar

Kirk F.

Yelp
Great spot! Excellent house coffee, and a spot on cortado also (though no sparkling water side, the cortado itself held its own and if you order for here they serve it in a proper shot glass--well done). Lovely view across to Torrey Pines and a great local vibe. Expect a line (and a smile when you hit the front) and a wait for your drink (other than house brew) so chill and enjoy the scene.
google avatar

Casey C.

Yelp
Beautiful location!! Patio area overlooks the Torrey Pines cliffs and lagoon. Super long line on a Saturday morning. Waited around 10 min in line for ordering, then about another 10 min for our drinks. No matter where I go I always get an americano with a splash of milk. It was a bit too acidic for my taste, but otherwise was pretty standard.
google avatar

Megan V.

Yelp
The location itself is amazing (great patio!), but the coffee leaves a lot to be desired especially in comparison to the coffee you get at other Bird Rock locations. These baristas cannot steam milk to save their lives. Super nice though! They remade my cortado but unfortunately it tasted worse the second time around. Would visit this location again though!

Yelp
Dear Bird Coffee rosters, I was very disappointed with my visit recently. I went and was so excited for the pop tart pastry's that I ordered online for me and my family, I walked in and asked the lady working about the order I placed. She said that she put the pastry's there and now she can't find it, she told me that somebody took it. I was a bit sad because I thought that they would hold for me, I don't think that they should be just leaving the food there and not checking with the person to see if it's there order or not. There have been times in the past where Bird Rock didn't give us all the stuff in are order, but this time really made me sad and dissatisfied..

Yelp
Bird Rock is a top tier coffee house. Smooth finish with refined taste. I think of coffee like wine, with some mixes not working due to bitterness or tanginess. Bird Rock has the right formula. It is not as sweet forward when you order flavored drinks. The service is friendly to ok. It doesn't seem that culturally they push for a welcoming tone. If a coffee lover, definitely visit.
google avatar

Jonathan N Windy G.

Yelp
Obviously the seating is a problem because such good coffee and great view! 5 Stars! Will definitely visit again.
google avatar

Bill G.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the coffee was amazing. Great atmosphere and if you looking for a place to kick off your morning and just a little pick me up, it's a must visit!
google avatar

Yelp
This morning I came in and grabbed a Sausage Sunrise Sandwich and a latte with their new White Truffle syrup. The sandwich was mild in flavor but good and warm. My coffee was delicious. I will be back. Love how their loyalty program works and is almost completely automatic.

Trent F.

Yelp
Nice and strong tasting latte without any bitterness. Nice little counter indoors and plenty of seating outside. Service was ok. Parking can possibly be a challenge so adjust the amount of time that it may take to get in and out. Probably a decent view outside if you're not fogged in. Cinnamon roll was bad, but nothing special
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the views and coffee my Spicy Mocha rocked and would definitely recommend this place

Yelp
I've been to a few other bird rock locations, but this one is by far my favorite. It's such a beautiful location and they have such a nice outdoor patio looking out to the lagoon. Their coffee is soooo good, it has a nice deep roast flavor and I loved their latte art. Their baristas and workers are so nice too! It's one of my favorite early morning study spots with the pretty view and excellent coffee :)
google avatar

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
Thanks for taking feedback seriously! Ordered the left coast latte again, this time with oat instead of whole milk. The coffee was not burnt or acidic this time, and was smooth and creamy. The sea salt caramel notes are VERY subtle and the drink is not that sweet, but they were there this time. Seating was full on a Saturday morning as expected, and there was a line that moved fairly quickly. Service was normal this time, not extremely friendly but not rude either.

Yelp
Had heard lots of positive things about Bird Rock and finally had a chance to check this location out. Upon entering, the staff welcomed us in and offered suggestions while we checked out their menu. We went ahead and ordered an iced vanilla bean latte with oat milk, an iced left coast latte with oat milk, and an iced chai. It was fairly crowded inside, with many other patrons working on their computers, but we snagged a table and were able to watch the baristas craft drinks. Our drinks came out shortly after ordering and we were excited to give them all a try. The chai was solid, good taste that remained consistent throughout the drink. The lattes were unfortunately not as good. The vanilla bean was bland and grainy, as if the flavor came from a powder; and the left coast (sea salted caramel) was watered down to the point that I questioned whether there was espresso and flavor in there. We hope that it was an off visit, and are eager to give them another try since the vibes and view from the shop were great.

Yelp
Came here with a friend recently and spent a few hours studying over some coffees. There is a good amount of seating, both indoors and outdoors, and decent wifi. Most of the occupants were working or studying, so it wasn't too hectic and the environment was pretty good for studying. I got the iced honey cinnamon latte, which came out quickly. It was really smooth, and the coffee I could taste the honey though it was overshadowed a bit by the cinnamon. There was a ton of real cinnamon in my drink, and I could see it settle out into a thick layer at the bottom of my drink. I honestly appreciated the honey more than the cinnamon taste so I didn't mind. This was a pretty good study spot with tasty coffee. Seating may be limited based on how many people are working at any given time, but the vibes are great and I'll definitely keep this cafe in my back pocket for future study sessions as well.

Yelp
Had the pour overs here over different days. Definitely recommend that. The vibe you get from sitting on the porch, sipping coffee while looking at Torrey Pines. Wow. Certainly friendly staff.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here after a hike with my sister. Seating is good, there were unable to make hot food. The service was friendly, and everything was clean. Great coffee for a quick stop in a beautiful area.

Yelp
I have gone to coffee shop heaven, we discovered Bird Rock Coffee Roasters in Torrey Pines. As a coffee lover, it has the feel that I have always wanted in a coffee shop. Add the delicious coffee and the naturally friendly staff, you have the dream place for coffee. Can you tell, we love it here.
google avatar

Marjan M.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come back here on a gloomy day solely because of the views. As I was in town today, the weather happened to be perfectly gloomy with a bit of drizzle so I had to drive out here. It was quite empty with just one large group sitting inside and no one outside. Service 5/5 The lovely girl who helped me was sweet & helpful. Drinks 3.5/5 Ordered chai latte (hot) and left coast latte (iced). The chai was delicious and actually tasted like chai. The latte on the other hand.. didn't taste any salted caramel. I also really don't enjoy the coffee brand they use. It has a sour/citrus note and I enjoy more chocolate/caramel notes in coffee. Price 4/5 Prices have increased since my last review. Most lattes used to be $6.25 for a 16 oz and now they're $6.99 and I think that's pretty up there for a more basic drink considering that I didn't add any extra shots, syrups, or get another type of milk. $7.29 for a 16 oz iced drink is a lot! Overall 4/5 I'd be back but again, just for the views. Gonna avoid their coffee and just pastry or tea.
google avatar

Gail U.

Yelp
Wonderful place to visit for your morning brew. Pet friendly, nice interior. My hot coco tasted like malted milk of yesterday/ yummy.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
Great staff, amazing location with some decent food next door. The coffee is on point, I highly recommend their single origin pour overs or Left Coast Latte. Close enough to the beach to relax before or after work with some good coffee.

Sara P.

Yelp
Great location. I'm not a fan of coffee roasters coffee, but I know many love really dark roast. To each their own.
google avatar

SD G.

Yelp
This is another great hangout place. I did not find this place, but it was by accident after a hike at Torrey Pines. there are outdoor and indoor seating with a great view. The service is excellent of course and the coffee or amazing of your coffee lover, which I am.
google avatar

Sean H.

Yelp
Bird rock! Amazingggggg top tier coffee and espresso in a stunning location! You really can't do much better than this - get caffeinated and go hike Torrey Pines. Perfect day! A few notes: not the best for WFH or to study! :( Very few, if any outlets, with limited space indoors. The patio area is sunny and amazing but you'll def drain your computer battery quickly trying to work there. Was able to work inside for an hour or two before the crowds got to me.
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
Delicious and perfectly balanced! My husband and I tried the Sandpiper latte and dark chocolate mocha latte and loved them both. They were not overly sweet whatsoever, but still had a nice delicate flavor. The husband complimented the drink, which was surprising since he doesn't like lattes usually. We luckily arrived before the late morning crowd, and secured street parking easily. The line can get long, but there are plenty of seats on the patio.
google avatar

Shirley S.

Yelp
Super slow this morning! There are four servers and it was just me in line-now a long lune. Been waiting for my 12 ounce Americano for a while now. Maybe all the preorders too? Like they are making the coffee in slow motion and the line doesn't bother them. Done with my review after thumbing through my social media and posting this review. Still waiting.
google avatar

Sue D.

Yelp
First time here. Meeting up with my bf. Plenty of seating. Beautiful views. One hour parking in the back. If the walk is not an issue, street parking at nearby street also easy to find. -Honey B Latte $6.25 14oz-- loved the taste of cinnamon and the sweetness of honey. -The Sandpiper $6.25 14oz-- enjoyed my aromatic hazelnut. Enjoyed my experience here. Looking forward to coming back.
google avatar

Shirley L.

Yelp
Bird Rock offers a nice view as you are enjoying a cup of coffee. The Sandpiper drink was too sweet for me and not enough hazelnut flavor. The over pour was expensive but tasty.

Serdar A.

Yelp
Love the scenery and the open deck. But does not offer the great coffee experience with some of the less scenic coffee places. Definitely quality of coffee has gone down over the years. Coffee tastes slightly burnt. Serving size is on the smaller side. They do not clean up the deck frequently. Great, convenient location but again average coffee and messy outside deck. I guess they do not care as they have a steady stream of customers coming from the beach or the hike.
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
Solid coffee (actually got espresso based). Was looking for a good coffee place that was open early and found this place on Google. Like I mentioned it was solid and I would come back next time in town.

Celeste S.

Yelp
I love coming to this coffee shop after a morning hike at Torrey Pines. Coffee is pretty good. Usually the service is good and i have no issues. This morning, the cashier had such a bad vibe. I was asking her a question about my coffee and the way she looked at me and responded made it seem like i was asking a stupid question. Get a different job if you dont like it. Girl had dark hair and dark eyes. She was wearing a brown jacket with giraffe like spots on it. I will still be coming back to this location, as i hike a lot here. But i hope i dont see her unpleasant face again.
google avatar

Mel H.

Yelp
What a nice find! First time trying their coffee and food and I'm glad I did. Staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable in their coffee making craft. I also ordered their avocado toast. I forgot to take a picture because we ate it so fast. It was super yummy. Tasted fresh with spices and radish on top of the avocado toast. Coffee was tasty too and not bitter but smooth. I only ordered their regular coffee of the day. Nothing fancy but very good straight up coffee. Great location very close to Torrey Pines. I love their decor of showing their coffee source. I'll have to definitely return to this cafe.

Spencer R.

Yelp
Don't know how people find this as "good" coffee. Been here twice got vanilla bean latte (iced) first time wasn't good, second time I wanted to give it another try just to see if was just a bad day. Service was good but I'm genuinely after the coffee and it just wasn't good, if you're looking for good vanilla latte go to flower atelier or somewhere else. Take this with a grain of salt I get vanilla lattes at other places to rate which spot has the best and by far I'd say bird rock is at the bottom. My girlfriend also tried the salted caramel (left coast latte) and you couldn't even taste the flavor of salted caramel which is kind of disappointing for someone who likes caramel, workers are very nice so nothing against them it's just bad coffee.
google avatar

Crissy W.

Yelp
Good place to take a walk at the beach and then grab a cup of coffee. Great coffee and great vibe! Cheers!
google avatar

Jackie T.

Yelp
Came here after a hike. This place is packed but so worth it. I mobile ordered it and when I got there it was ready. I got the Iced Left Coast Latte with Oatmilk. This coffee was super tasty. The salted Carmel sauce and monkey bite espresso made was so good. I almost drank the whole thing before I got out of there. This drink definitely put more pep in my step after my hike. If you want great coffee and view this is the place to come. The staff is super nice and they are on point with pumping out the drinks. Thank you Bird Rock for making great coffees and having a an awesome attitude. I definitely will be back.
google avatar

Torey F.

Yelp
Received the slowest service I have ever experienced at a coffee shop. The folks taking the orders at the front kept forgetting everyone's order and having them repeat it like 3 times. Even forgot ours when we only ordered a cappuccino. And the baristas were not moving much faster. I think we stood in a line of about 10 people for 35-40 minutes. And then waiting another 20 for the coffee. Incredibly slow, hoping the coffee is better...
google avatar

Claudia W.

Yelp
Great coffee! Great friendly servers! Jacquelyn is always very friendly with a big smile and makes delicious lattes! Great atmosphere! Love this place! Will be back soon for more!
