"Opened yesterday, I found the Del Mar outpost of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters to be the local roaster’s first waterfront spot and its first foray into North County since Jeff Taylor (co‑founder of PT’s Coffee Roasting Company) acquired BRCR; Taylor told Eater the company plans more northern, coastal expansion. The 1,000-square-foot cafe — with a matching 1,000-square-foot patio — is perched across from the Torrey Pines Reserve and lagoon, incorporates coffee education into its design with a screen showing coffee-related videos, and will serve Bird Rock’s core menu of coffee and espresso drinks (upgraded food offerings are planned). The Del Mar branch will be the only location to feature the exclusive single-estate Finca Santa Ana Rose Geisha at its pour-over bar starting Tuesday until supplies last, and it’s open Monday–Friday 6 a.m.–7 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday 7 a.m.–7 p.m." - Candice Woo
