"Soprano is, as it’s affectionately known in “the biz,” a purely utilitarian restaurant. Their location - at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine - makes them extremely convenient, a perfect (or at least, approximate) place to eat on the Walk of Fame or after a show at the Pantages. But if you’re looking for Italian food that’s actually interesting - fuhgeddaboudit. While nothing here is bad per se, everything from the bucatini pomodoro to the chicken parm to the celebrity-named pizzas are pretty forgettable, and exist in that thrilling culinary range of “fine” to “slightly more than fine.” And although the checkered tiles and black tablecloths make it feel like you’re dining at a place Tony Soprano himself would stop by before heading to the Bada Bing, the big, impressive space and convenient location are a bit wasted on this Italian restaurant." - Kat Hong

"Soprano takes over for a prominently-placed former sports bar at Hollywood and Vine, just steps from the Pantages and APL. Construction has been going on inside for a little while, and the plan is to open the Italian spot in a matter of weeks. Reps for the restaurant note that Soprano will operate more as an old school Hollywood hangout kind of Italian destination, rather than a more modern regional Italian specialist like, say, Rossoblu or Felix. Chef Brandon Kida from Hinoki & the Bird is on to oversee the menu, after having previously opened up the rooftop hotspot Sorra nearby in Hollywood. Beyond the pastas, meatballs, and all that red sauce, expect a focus on cocktails, throwback dinner service, and wine." - Farley Elliott

We stopped by Birdcage Restaurant in Hollywood to eat light dinner our play, Come From Away, at the Pantages Theater. This is a pre-theater dining place with a lively vibe. Their menu options were limited as the restaurant opens when the theater runs. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower and burrata and beet salad and both dishes were of small portions but exceeded our expectations. They were well prepared and savory. This restaurant appeared to be short staffed as the same guy who walked us to our table had three roles to play: greeter, waiter and bus boy. Poor guy! Unmanaged waiter was just way over their head but tried hard to be attentive. This restaurant has a 5% administration charge which were not the tips or surcharges. Our group found this 5% administration charge unacceptable.

This is one of the few massively disappointing restaurants that I've been to. I can't recommend anything. Everyone in my family got something different and no one enjoyed anything. We were all very hungry when we sat down to eat and we left most of our food uneaten. In my case, it was way overcooked. I had the chicken and biscuits. The biscuits were burned, the chicken was dry, the pickles were bad, and the maple glaze seemed non-existant. It wasn't worth sending back because I had no faith that it would come back any better. My daughters sandwich was incredibly dry and basic and made incorrectly. My other daughter's hamburger was overcooked. The fries were edible. The service was very bad, the restaurant was fairly slow, so we were seated very quickly. Once seated, we had to wait 20 minutes to have our order taken. It took 30-40 minutes to get our food. Our server didn't check on us once to see how the food was after it arrived. When he eventually made it to the table we asked for the bill, which took another 15 minutes to get. They weren't busy and a lot of the staff were just standing around. We left over half of our meals uneaten and we had to pick up a pizza on the way home.

We thought we were going to the Italian restaurant but stayed even tho it’s Birdcage and they haven’t changed the sign yet. We were seated right away and the server was at our side immediately to take our drink order. My kids both ordered the pesto Mac n cheese and I got the Mediterranean salad with chicken. They only had one order of the Mac n cheese left, although they had only been open for an hour. My son got the steak sandwich, which he said was ok, just not what he wanted. My other son loved the Mac n cheese. I really liked my salad, but the $10 extra to add chicken seemed a little extreme. My son got a drink, which was tasty but small for the price. They brought my son a birthday ice cream, which would have put us in a diabetic coma if we had eaten it. It was way too sweet, but we appreciated the gesture. My only real complaint was not having enough Mac n cheese, and charging $10 for a few slices of chicken for the salad.

Came here before a show at the Pantages and fell in love with it! Such cute decor, food and drinks are generously priced and the service was excellent! I even had to recently switch to Gluten Free and they had good options for me! Only thing to note is an extra 20% is added as a fee on top of the bill which is not the tip. Wish we were told beforehand but it was all still worth it. Shocked to say it because I generally dislike Hollywood, but I can't wait to come back!

Google
What a freaking amazing start to our evening!! Just steps away from the Pantages, Birdcage is an excellent choice for your pre-theater meal. Everything was spectacular from the attentive service (friendly and quick with the awareness we needed to make curtain) to the lovely, airy decor, to the wonderful selection on the menu. Lots of veggie and vegan choices plus a wonderful steak for my meat eating son. I had a fruity iced tea and an impossible burger while my cousins had the cauliflower steak and veggie board which they couldn't finish. The restaurant must've changed policy because there was only a 5% upcharge on our bill as I was concerned about how much to tip so that worked out well too. I will definitely be back!!

Their sign says “Soprano’s” still but don’t let that fool you, they are Birdcage and they are open!! Go fricken eat there. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, everyone seemed overjoyed to be working at this new place that’s found itself here. My girlfriend and I got the loaded broccoli, two drinks, the half chicken and biscuits, and the burger and everything was amazing!

Google
Stumbled in here for dinner before a show at the pantages when our previous dinner plans fell through and it was kismet. Our server (Antonio) was a delight, the drinks were good (especially the 5th and Adams and Hollywood and Vine) as was dinner (chicken and biscuits were amazing). Fast (knew instantly where we were going and what our timetable needed to be) and friendly and delicious, what more could you ask for.

Google
Gorgeous new spot in the heart of Hollywood! My partner and I stopped in for a quick drink before Beetlejuice and we had a great time. Phenomenal drinks with fresh juices, and the restaurant has an airy, upscale Miami vibe. Service was fantastic and the food menu looked delicious. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m catching a show!

Yelp
Dinner before seeing Hamilton at the Pantages. Nice welcome, seated right away no wait. Our server was Micah. He was very attentive and met all our requests with a smile. I ordered the Burrata & Beet Salad and the Chicken BLTA. The salad was absolutely fantastic. It was such a large portion. I was so full I didn't eat hardly any of my sandwich. The beet were roasted perfectly and the quinoa and arugula were lightly nutty along with the creamy burrata cheese! It truly was one of the best I have ever had and I always order this salad if it's on the menu. The vibe was really channeling South Beach Miami with the decor, lighting, furniture and even the staff's uniforms. Low lighting ambiance was really setting the mood to chill. No A/C since they kept their front doors open to invite passersby. Will definitely be back for another salad. There was a separate bar area that looked interesting but didn't have time to explore. Tip: Not really for kids/families. More small Groups, lunch or dinner with friends before the theatre or date night. Price: $$

Yelp
We got seated by the Matre De & served by Chris. We ordered 2 cheeseburgers, one with bacon & an egg. All was ALL was very good! Then followed up with a Paloma. All a food was good, they followed up a few times to make sure we were happily seated and good with the service & food. Will definitely be back again. Especially when at the Pantagous Theatre! A good call for sure

Yelp
Food was mediocre at best. The burger tasted like a block of sharp cheddar, and the grilled chicken Mac n cheese tasted like pasta on gravy. You are paying a premium for the convenience for a pre-pantages meal. Be aware that as of June 2024 they are charging a 5% administration fee that they claim is neither gratuity nor service charge, so I don't know what kind of administration I'm paying for. It was definitely not for the service as they pay no attention to you. I will not be returning to this establishment.

Guido K.

Yelp
It's a great pre-theater place right next to the Pantages. We went with friends and shared the buffalo cauliflower, which was a great start to the meal. Then: the burger (good), the sandwich with caramelized onions that were soggy. The fries were excellent - as was the red beet salad. This is a great place. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made for a great experience. But: I get really upset when I see this "We have a 5% surcharge for administration." C'mon guys: administration work is part of every business. Why upset your customers with such nonsense? I'd rather pay 5% more per dish than deal with such a BS that most likely push me to other places in the neighborhood.

Sara T.

Yelp
We were in a pinch and needed a place to eat before musical we were late too. They were quick kind and the food was good. They're cocktails are actually really good too. Very cute space that has a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff was very nice. We actually wish we could've stayed longer. Would recommend this place.

Anne S.

Yelp
I go to the Pantages all the time, but I just assume the same places are there. I actually was just wandering around before a show, and just meandered into this place. I was expecting to see that Bennigan's style tavern I usually see. Instead was this new sleek restaurant I've never tried before. The bar seemed to be where all the action is, plus I was by myself. I ordered the steak frites with a 6oz Tempranillo to accompany. Outstanding!! The bartenders were making the most amazing cocktails and my eyes would grow just watching them. Then they'd pour me a teeny sample!! Great marketing. I did want to order it, but had to get to the theater. The food and drink here is absolute perfection. I cannot wait to come here again for more pre-show food, drink, ambiance, and great service!

Marlene G.

Yelp
The food was tasty but the options are not available since this restaurant is open only during Pantages runs. They close when the theater is dark. Therefore they do not keep a full menu of food when open. There was no decaf coffee, no cream, no ice cream ( though their lemon pie is fantastic). We ordered two chicken Caesar salads. They ran out of chicken for the 2nd one. This was at 5:00 pm. This place is so convenient and what food we did have was tasty. Our server worked hard to provide us with what they had. While understandable in this era of uncertainty, Perhaps this review will prompt management to value their location and provide everything on the menu.

Max L.

Yelp
Went pre-Pantages to a show. A little pricey for what you get but overall we were happy. Burgers were decent, fries were also pretty good, and service was reasonably quick, albeit our server made a drink error (brought out wrong beer) that was quickly corrected. My only real complaint, not unique here, is the extra service charge that has become so ubiquitous amongst LA restaurants. Just up your menu prices and spare me the nickel and diming.

Spencer K.

Yelp
The takeaway: Enthusiastic waitstaff. Well lit spacious setting. Mediocre food. Came here for a pre-Pantages dinner with my theatre companion and should have taken it as a sign that tables were available for immediate occupancy. The menu ranged from artisanally prepared chicken wings to salads to sandwiches to more traditional entrees. Rated 1-5 (5 being best) We had: the lemon pepper wings (3) Buffalo cauliflower (3) Birdcage bowl (4) The lemon pepper wings were awkward to eat due to their size. Not the small nubs one would normally get at a bar, these were the full wing, prepared with (get ready for this shocking revelation) lemon and pepper. The accompanying blue cheese sauce was uninspired. The Buffalo cauliflower was too greasy, though the seasoning was tasty. The Birdcage bowl (with salmon) was a run of the mill entrant in this competition. I will say it was well priced for the area. It's a good convenient pre-show location and I will give them a second chance when I'm back at the Pantages again. I hope the chef reads this and ups their game.

Yelp
I had the best time here! My hubby and I had some cocktails and food. The service was amazing and we had a great time before our show. Our bar tender Regional was super sweet and attentive! P.S. I had the 5th and Adams-Yum!

Yelp
PEOPLE OF COLOR: BEWARE If you don't mind being ignored or overlooked, then go. My wife is a Black Woman, and I am Brown Male Latino. My wife and I recently (09/09/2023) attended the Les Misérables at the Pantages Theater. Afterwards, we made are way to this good looking establishment. We sat at the bar, hardly anyone was there. There was 2 bartenders. We patiently waited. After about 15 minutes, we were asked if we were ready to order a drink. Mind you, when the bartender asked us, he was rushing to make a drink for a lady, so as he asked, I said "Yes", but he walked away to finish preparing the drink for the other lady. Within seconds of being asked, about 5 White Ladies sat next to us. Once the same bartender came back, he didn't come back to my me and my wife. He immediately directed all of his attention to the 5 White Ladies, and began serving their drinks. My wife and I, were immediately aware of what just took place. So we were curious and decided to just kind of wait to see if he would actually come back to us - he never did! We gave him another 5 minutes after serving all of the 5 White Ladies, and he continued making his rounds around us. We decided to get up and leave, but not without my wife informing the bartender of what he had just done. Of course, he acted surprised, and unapologetic. My wife also informed the manager, and he seemed to act like he was concerned, but at that point one could tell he just rather us leave. So PEOPLE OF COLOR, beware of going to this establishment. If you are a WHITE PERSON - your good, you'll be taken care just fine. NOTE: My wife and I were dressed sharp for the occasion, so it wasn't like we walked in with some jeans and flip-flops. I posted a picture of us, just to illustrate how we were dressed for the occasion.

Yelp
The light fixtures and plants made it feel like entering Tulum. All the food was very good and the vegan and gf options were plentiful. High ceilings, a nice getaway from the streets of Hollywood Meat platter and a salad could be a good sharing plate for 2. A little aggressive on constantly pouring us water and interrupted flow of convo a bit, but not bad! Not open Mondays Ratings: Ambiance: 9/10 Ease of seating/ speed of service: 9/10 Vegan options: 10/10 Gluten free options: 9/10 Low carb options: 10/10 Overall deliciousness: 8/10 Pricing: $$ Parking: paid only. No street parking Seating: reserve Liquor License: yes

Yelp
First off I've eaten here before it was The Birdcage, it was Sopranos, Italian and it was real good. If it weren't for our amazing waiter Chris I don't think I'd come back here. Chris went above and beyond giving us Stella service. He was personable, professional and had mad skills. Especially since he was the only one waiting on tables. We had really good drinks, the Passion Pit. Which was like a margarita with passion fruit. Really delicious and went down super easy. Only thing I'd say that for 18.00 a drink it was jam packed with ice and on the small side. The other cocktail our party had was a Paloma. That was a grapefruit margarita, tasty as well but served in a taller glass. Last cocktail I think was the 5th & Adams really dainty in a daiquiri glass. 2 sips from this macho man and that drink was gone. Too Fru Fru and not large enough for a guy. He then ordered a beer, lol Food was not very memorable, just meh nothing to brag about. The Cesar salad was as loaded with cheese and I think that they forgot the dressing. For entrees we had an Open Burger Royale, it was good. The Steak Frites steak was dry and chewy, fries were really good. Also the Lomito Sandwich, again just ok. If it was amazing it would have been finished but instead half a sandwich remained on the plate. I don't think this place will survive unless they change up the chef and menu. It's in a good location right down the street from Pantages so they could get those patrons to patronize but not at this current level. Stop in and have a drink

Johnny Y.

Yelp
A great pre-theater place. Had the buffalo cauliflower, which was a great start to the meal. Streak frites was great too, good flavor, cooked perfectly. This is a great place. Staff was friendly and attentive, made for a great experience. Definitely would recommend! Feels like A little Miami in Los Angeles! Great place.

Adrian M.

Yelp
Again- food is not good. I read a review that the manager said "customers complain just to complain"...how unprofessional. I try my best to support restaurants, especially new ones. And I will not write a bad review unless absolutely necessary. In my case- the manager never even attempted to rectify the error. I shouldn't have to "ask" for a refund.

Ricardo A.

Yelp
Fabulous drinks, fabulous food and FABULOUS service!! Bartenders and waiters...top notch service!! Came in for dinner and drinks before attending a show next door, will definitely return!

Gloria G.

Yelp
We have been here since 530pm & it's now 705pm and the service has been Food is descent!! Waiter never came back - missing food & drinks. We are here only because - we have tickets to see Tina Turner Musical @ The Pantages... Never Coming Back. Another disappointed customer. Music was lively.

J S.

Yelp
Great location, ok food. Unmanaged wait staff were way over their heads, and we paid the price. We were a table of six. Our waiter forgot to put in two of the orders. One of the burgers came out burnt. One of the drinks was spilled. There was an extra item on the check. They added a 20% "fee" that we had them take it off so we could tip appropriately. No apologies, we got the distinct feeling that this was standard operating procedure. The person who recommended the place was mortified. Learn from us - you've been warned.

Tami W.

Yelp
I was on my way to the Pantages and this place was practically next door. When we first walked in, I was struck by how loud the music was. We sat at the bar because we only had 50 minutes before the show started. My friend ordered a ciabatta chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it. It had red peppers, arugula, pesto, tomatoes and cheese. I ordered chicken wings (6) and pickled vegetables. The vegetables came in a very small bowl, which made it difficult to eat them. At least 5 pieces jumped out of the bowl on to the counter, which of course, I didn't eat. The chicken wings were extremely messy, soft skin and full of vinegar. Not good at all, for me. Annastasia(sic?), our server was delightful. I'll come back, but I won't order what I had and I don't wanna be in a rush, so I can really look at the menu.

Colette C.

Yelp
So my best friend, Mom and I, as Reginald called us Charlie's angels, stopped in at the Birdcage before our showtime at the Pantages for some cocktails and a bite to eat. This was our first visit to the Birdcage and we're so glad we went, Reginald (Reg) our bartender was the best! He made our time there so much fun! He was not only professional but also a quite entertaining! We will definitely go back and encourage others to check it out, & don't forget to sit at the bar, Reg will take good care of you!

Tory R.

Yelp
I went to the Birdcage Restaurant for dinner, prior to seeing MJ The Musical. We were the first customers in the restaurant at approximately 1715 hours. We were seated immediately and our server came over and took our drink order. It took over 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We ordered 2 Old Fashioned. The drinks did not come with craft ice or Luxardo cherries, which are customary for those drinks. A short time later, the bartender came over with a smaller version of our drinks with maraschino cherries. That was an insult! Our server returned to take our food order. I ordered a hamburger and was told they did not have any hamburger buns. He did not offer another option of bread. I saw that there was a chicken sandwich on the menu served on a ciabatta roll. So, I ordered it on a ciabatta roll. My friend ordered the chicken Mac n cheese. The food finally arrived 20 minutes later. Remember, we were the first and only customers in the restaurant. The Mac n cheese should have been loaded with chicken, however it only had a single piece of chicken. When we complained our server took the plate back to the Kitchen and returned with the same plate minus extra chicken. A kitchen server then came over to our table with a small plate containing sliced chicken that should have been inside of the Mac n cheese. My hamburger was decent and it was probably better with the ciabatta roll, instead of a regular hamburger bun. I feel the staff should have made a better effort to send someone to purchase hamburger buns and the cherries. This restaurant is in the heart of the theater district in Hollywood and is charging too much money for the food and drinks they serve. Hopefully, they read this review and do better. I am a frequent theater goer and will not be back to this restaurant. I can't recommend this restaurant either.

Alma C.

Yelp
Great service by my bartender Reginald, he is amazing. Very attentive and friendly. He was on top of our drink orders.. will highly recommend birdcage to friends and family!!

Steve H.

Yelp
You have been warned, walk further away from the Pantages. I have been asked to consider the food, service and ambience. I will talk about all three in this review. Food: I'll include food and beverage, ordered a signature drink for my wife that was OK. Ordered a dry martini for myself, tasted of only vermouth. No olives offered, none available so far as I know. On to food, Daughter and I were to share the meat plate, my wife was to eat the chicken and biscuits (this will be refferenced in service following). Grilled chicken on the meat plate smelled off, wasn't touched after the first bite. Chorizo on the plate was clearly hebrew national hot dogs (photo below, someone tell me where you get chorizo that looks like that). Flat iron steak was described by the server as "prime" grade, it was not. Fried chicken was bland, only thing with any seasoning we were served were the quarter sized biscuits that went with the fried chicken. No gravy of any kind. Service: Waiter was absent for a large part of service. Hosts left and came back smelling of THC. When our food was delivered, the runner dropped a piece of my wife's chicken in her lap. He was kind enough to offer to offer throw it away. A replacement was not made until we mentioned it 21 minutes later. I'll send a bill for the grease stain. Ambiance: Of all the things I said, might be the worst part. 95 degree day, no air conditioning. Seated by a south facing window, literally sweating while we are waiting for the food. Smelled of an old bar rag. Should've gone with our instincts and left as soon as we were seated. Overall, it was exceptionally bad. For the price point the absolute worst experience I have ever had. RUN! If you're short on time before a show, gut it out and get drive through after, you can thank me for saving you $40/head.

Tina C.

Yelp
We have season tickets a few doors down at the Pantages theater . This place has been pretty much our go to before the shows . Excited by the new menu btw and the bartenders are hilarious and had us in and out , especially Reggie , ask for him !!! :)

Tony S.

Yelp
If you have the chance to have any server at Birdcage...ask for Antonio!!! The ambiance is great..light hearted and enjoyable-yes the Bar area has tv for sports game (go Dodgers) Prices for food is really good, especially for Hollywood Had the Steak Frits and Salmon with acorn squash purée..both very good On to desert now...the triple layer chocolate cake wins

Barry S.

Yelp
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of Birdcage Hollywood. The drinks are exceptional, the food is high quality, and the service is great ( thanks Josh). And it all came at reasonable prices for the area. Birdcage Hollywood is now our go-to restaurant whenever we go to the Pantages.

Carl P.

Yelp
Food was good and the service was friendly and quick especially when going to a show at the Pantages...

Kristy B.

Yelp
Amazing pre play restaurant most friendly bartenders love Reginal and Jose super fun and next to pantages

Sebastian V.

Yelp
We stopped in Birdcage for dinner before catching a show at the Pantages. This place had good food and the service was great. Definitely full of the theatre patrons. The only thing that bugged me was they charge all checks a 5% admin fee. An admin fee, for what? At a restaurant? Last time I was forced to pay an admin fee it was while renting an apartment. And at the price point of Birdcage it just seems like nickeling and diming the customer adding a 5% admin fee to the check when your burger/fries are already $22 and a glass of wine starts at $15. We won't be returning specifically because of this. Just include these fees in your menu prices. It's really tacky to add fees to checks, especially when you're at this price point.

Baily H.

Yelp
This place is fabulous - the food, the cocktails, and the bartenders. Get the chicken and biscuits!

Steve V.

Yelp
Incredible ambiance and food. Started with wings and salad but the flat iron steak was delicious, as well as the salmon. Kids pasta was also delicious! The fact that this place is within a block of the Pantages Theater is a big win!

Melody M.

Yelp
Bartenders Reginald and and Jose are the bomb.com. Absolutely amazing and we are thrilled that we landed here before Beetlejuice!

Nichole B.

Yelp
Great drinks, awesome bartenders. Great vibe before the show at the Pantages! Highly recommend.

Liz L.

Yelp
The Birdcage is our go to place before seeing shows at the Pantages. The ambience is great, the food is delicious, and the service is excellent! Reginald is the bartender, and he is simply the best!

Lori P.

Yelp
Dinner and drinks before seeing a show at the Pantages. Super convenient location 2 minute walk to theater. They were busy and we were a large group of 10 so food and drinks were slow to arrive but once they did it was worth the wait. Delicious :) will definitely go back

Harold C.

Yelp
I only had the hamburger and fries. They were just OK. A friend wanted to try Birdcage. We should have gone to Shake Shack nearby.

Lori M.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place so much . We have season passes for the Pantages and this will be so convenient but sadly it wasn't meant to be starting as we walked in five minutes before our reservation when the girl at the hostess stand turned to the manager and said, what should I do with them. They seated us in what was an almost empty dining room, but we waited over 30 minutes for a glass of water. Two tables that came in after us had their food by now. Then I ordered pickles (an uncooked appetizer), and was told that would come out really quick. An hour after we got there I still didn't have my pickles. The waiter kept coming over and telling us he didn't know what was going on or why we didn't have our food. Then the manager came over and said he felt that the server forgot to put the order through and he took our order again. The manager was avoiding us. I had to run after him in the restaurant, to get his attention. And he finally said "it's not happening." We should've left and just gotten fast food but we didn't. We finally got our food an hour and a half after we got there, and my impossible burger was burned but edible. Fortunately the manager did not charge us. That was a very disappointing night. The location is f Prime for any business willing to put in the time . Maybe the next reincarnation of this restaurant will be successful

Cecilia F.

Yelp
The food was soso and over price. When we finally received our drinks the waiter dropped the drinks and there was broken glass everywhere. Some of us were drenched as well as the chair, table and floor were wet. The whole time we were there never did the management come and apologized or come to our assistance. We had to request for something to dry us off and had to request to move since no one came to clean the area. Then to add to insult they added a 20% gratuity/fee to our bill. I would recommend you go somewhere else!

Susan G.

Yelp
Avoid this place like the plague. First visit here. Our server was too busy trying to be Mr. Cool Hollywood Dude to perform his duties. Spent most of his time chatting up the groups of ladies at nearby tables and pretty much just ignored us after he got around to taking our order (15 minute wait for that.) Diners at several other tables near us had the same problems. One couple walked out. There was no manager around so unfortunately the only person to (politely) appeal to was the poor hostess, who did a great job of trying to rectify the situation while doing HER job. Trying to get our check took 20 minutes...I finally got the full attention of the jerk waiter while he was flirting at the next table. I motioned vigorously to him to come over and he just looked at me like I'd grown a second head...and stayed where he was. He never came back to our table after the food came out, he never brought us our drinks. Meanwhile the busboys and the kitchen staff worked their butts off at their respective jobs. Funny thing was the food was actually quite good, albeit overpriced (Hollywood and Vine prices). And get this...a MANDATORY 20% tip! But...found out from talking to someone who had dined there before that the owners don't give the tips to the staff, they pocket the money. On our way out we tipped the busboy in cash, I thought he would faint from shock! Other issues: Ice tea is just tinted water No artificial sweetener available Noisy Uncomfortable chairs Bathrooms haven't been cleaned up or remodeled in, I dunno, 40 years? Looks like the inside of a clown wagon. This restaurant is the latest in a string at this location, and is pretty new. Don't expect they will last long offering this kind of dining experience!

We went into this restaurant because it used to be TAPS here, which was amazing. But since we were hungry and were running short on time to see The Tina Turner musical, we stayed. We ordered drinks, and unfortunately, the waiter dropped the entire tray. It happens, an accident. My cousin and I were closest, so we got splashed. Beverages and glass everywhere. The manager just came to look, and told him to clean it up. Didn't apologize. I felt bad for the server. We had to ask to be moved to another table and extra napkins to blot my pant leg shoes and cousins top. This manager had no idea how to handle this situation. A sincere apology, some show of remorse for what happened. A dessert, drink on the house? When asked, he said, " Just leave" This was terrible, never going back there, and will never recommend it. I heard a couple at the table near us complain about getting wrong drinks. This is not how you draw customers. The Show was wonderful! Pantages is always amazing

Yelp
Horrible experience!!! There were four of us... the first persons food came out with the appetizer and the French fries for everyone's meal. About 15 minutes later the 2nd person's food came out. It was supposed to be an open-faced burger, cooked medium. My guests were laughing at me trying to cut it!! It was the driest burger I've ever eaten and cooked very well! About 20 minutes later the 3rd person's meal came out and then about ten minutes later the cook came and asked the fourth person if she ordered anything! Total disaster!! Three of us ordered espresso martinis. All three were brought out together and yet one was RANDOMLY made with tequila instead of vodka. Bizarre! The place looks nice but that's about it! It's a terrible disaster!!!

Yelp
Loved this place, we'll definitely be going back. Had the glazed carrots, roasted broccoli, grilled salmon with butternut squash and white wine. My GF had the chicken caesar salad and that was great too. The food was very fresh. The manager came to the table to talk to us and we talked about the bad Yelp reviews. As for the salmon being overcooked, I always ask for mine more on the rare side anyway so I can't really comment on that one way or another. The biggest complaint here seems to be the 20% service charge. First, the manager explained that for anyone who complains about that he's always offered to take it off the bill but so far no one's ever asked so it seems like people are complaining just to complain. Second, I went to dinner last nite at a well-known sushi restaurant in West Hollywood that my buddy of 20 yrs owns. I asked him about the service charge and he said it's very common these days in LA.

Yelp
Our party of three ate here for dinner after seeing the 2 pm showing of MJ at the Pantages. We were warmly greeted & seated within minutes, then greeted by our server & provided with menus. We ordered one Chicken BLTA, and two H&V Burgers, mine with just cheese, lettuce, tomato @ avocado. We also ordered a rum daiquiri & an IPA. I had water as I was driving the 2 hours home. Our order came out promptly, portions were generous, food was immaculately presented & was absolutely delicious. Service was outstanding & staff were extremely cordial & upbeat. Why go anywhere else after seeing a show at the Pantages when you can dine here? So make it a perfect outing by enjoying a delicious meal & perfect ambiance at the Birdcage Hollywood!

Yelp
It was pretty good for a dinner before a show at the Pantages. I got the chicken and biscuits... and while the chicken was indeed good, the little biscuits stole the show, flavor wise, for me. All of my friends enjoyed their food very much so as well.

Yelp
So happy that there are additional options to have lunch/brunch before seeing shows at The Pantages. We visited before we saw "Six" and very much enjoyed ourselves. Service was very good and there was a nice selection of items to pick from. The restaurant is very light and airy and our party of five were seated immediately (we had a reservation). We'll see you again soon as we have tickets for "Tina!"

Yelp
Whenever I see a show at the Pantages I have dinner at Birdcage Hollywood before the show. I eat at the bar because Reginald the bartender is awesome. He not only provides excellent service, but he is so entertaining!
