Thankfully the negative reviews here are about the Sea Isle city location, but I am reviewing the 96th St location in Stone Harbor that opened in June of this year. It opened in the space of a store carrying mostly beach wear that I used to frequent because everything was on sale after Labor Day. But with that store gone, I wandered into Bird Cage. I really liked what I saw.
There was an adorable pink shirt hanging on the door that I fell in love with and my mom bought for me while I was in the dressing room. While I was wandering around I saw some cute beach wear, some fun and funky items especially for young and hip college age women who love to look California cool and different and have the body to do it.
The prices were moderate. There was a small sale rack in the back but other than that everything was full price. The afore mentioned shirt was $36, and a pair of tie die lace trimmed casual pull on pants with gold accents was $59. The pants were too long for me, but not getting them out of my mind I returned the next day and took the plunge. The same employee/manager was there both days and I found her very pleasant and helpful. She suggested a pair of pants for me that turned out to be a perfect fit, but not enough to take my mind off those funky cool pants I eventually purchased.
I read the comments here about the other location and of course I am concerned about the quality of the items I purchased. I will come back to this review and update, because it will break my heart if I have fallen in love with some cheap Family Dollar quality clothes.
For now, my experience with the Stone Harbor location is the employee was very nice and helpful, the clothes were really cute, fun and affordable, at least as boutique beach togs go. I hope they find success in Stone Harbor and move away from the negativity brought by the Sea Isle location and the clothing quality or lack of that some have had to deal with.
