"We love a good theme. And this Grant Park restaurant is seriously committed to reppin’ their name with fun, bright decor. An accent wall features floor to ceiling wallpaper with colorful birds in mid-flight. Lighting fixtures are a mix of wooden bottomless bird cages and white chandeliers with plumes of bright pink feathers on top (which, considering the tacky track record of feather plumes, somehow manage to be tasteful). But their menu isn’t for the birds—their delicious, mostly Latin dishes are simple but bursting with flavor. If you love smoky, fire-roasted foods, get their sofrito squash topped with queso fresco crumbles and pepitos. For mains, the picanha steak has a tasty char on each slice of perfectly medium rare beef. With great food and a fun ambiance, we're happy to flock into Birdcage for date nights and social outings." - Juli Horsford

I’m happy to write this review after receiving flexibility and personal care from this shop and its owner. My 13 year old bought 2 bathing suits that were ill-fitted after seeing no dressing room (they had to ask for one to receive space for a fitting room). I came back to exchange the bottoms (“it’s up to you kid to find replacements for the tops!). Initially, I was met with store policy, but after learning that I came to spend even more $ on beautiful sweatshirts (that feel like butter!) I was met with flexibility and understanding. This is exactly why I shop local and not in corporate settings whenever I can. The initial policy is understandable when you consider the fact that they have 12 weeks to capture the bulk of annual sales. Given that I wanted to spend more, the store could grant me flexibility and Grace for my kids error. Please support this shop!

BUYER BEWARE. Can I give zero stars? Negative stars? Customer service is lacking to say the least. They would not honor the purchase of a sweatshirt that they said was "mistakenly marked the wrong price". It was marked $5 less than what they said the actual price should've been. When asked if they would honor the price that was on the tag that was attached to the sweatshirt, their response was, "We aren't Target." True, Target you are not. But you are a small business that lost a sale because of a mistake that YOU made in not realizing what the price tags say on your OWN inventory until the customer brings it to you to purchase. It’s your prerogative to price and charge whatever you want in your store, but there really is no need to be CONDESCENDING in your response to a question that is respectfully asked by a potential customer. That is what is so off-putting about the situation. My advice...go somewhere else, anywhere else but here.

Found this shop several years ago and look forward to going to it every single year while visiting Sea Isle. Always has fair pricing, cute apparel and even enjoyable music while shopping. Happy to support this shop!

Stopped in again today and as always love the selection! Great choices and there was something for everyone and reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and helpful offering to check inventory and get an additional size for us tomorrow. We will see you again soon!

DO NOT SHOP AT BIRDCAGE!! The staff is awful with no training and no customer service skills at all. I have never been more upset and outraged in my life. All over an exchange for a larger size, which didn’t happen. This terrible customer service is coming from the owners. You actually have to train someone to be this disrespectful and that bad at their job. I would never want someone to loose their job but after today I hope all their locations SHUT DOWN PERMANENTLY. So if you pass a birdcage just keep going and give your hard earned money to someone that teaches customer service.

I had bought a tank top here about a month ago, wore it for an hour and my sister noticed it ripping (which was disappointing in itself since I spent $45) so I took it off. I returned it the next morning. A lady gave me store credit on a gift card, which was great. Fast forward a few weeks. I went yesterday again to shop with some of my girlfriends and I go to check out and use my store credit gift card and the worker says it didn’t have a balance. I explained my previous return situation and wasn’t sure what the problem was. She got on the phone with the owner and literally explained to my face that the person didn’t believe me that it ripped on its own and deactivated the gift card she gave me as soon as I left the store that day a few weeks ago. I felt so embarrassed and belittled. I am not one to cause a scene so I just left. SO now I don’t have my ripped shirt (lol) or my $45. Needless to say, I will not he giving them any more of my money and neither should you.

I bought a top this weekend and read the sign behind the cashier that said "no cash refunds," etc. before purchasing. You would assume that means only cash, not credit, so I was under the impression I could get my money back if necessary. I go back later to return the top, and the cashier tells me only exchanges or store credits are available. I said that their sign was misleading and she agreed, but then stated that the policy was on the receipt... the receipt doesn't come until after the purchase is already made!! Now I have $40 in store credit that I can't use (not from town), so disappointing!!

Google
Wish I could give them zero stars. Completely disappointed in the integrity of the shop owner. You don’t get to give a store credit, take possession of the apparel that was damaged, and then cancel the store credit......this poor child had no idea until she tried to use the credit that the store owner decided that she didn’t believe her account of how the shirt was damaged and canceled the credit as soon as my stepdaughter left the store......pretty sure this is theft....pretty illegal. And let’s discuss why she didn’t believe her. Was it because she has brown skin or because she is in her early 20’s....did she not look the part? My stepdaughter makes more money than me and I make a good living....so it certainly wasn’t her ability to pay boutique prices. She is also the most sweet and respectful person I know, so it certainly wasn’t her behavior. Hmmmm so I wonder what it was? I will never buy another thing here again and I would encourage everyone to search their conscience before supporting a business that profiles young women and then steals from them.

Yelp
Thankfully the negative reviews here are about the Sea Isle city location, but I am reviewing the 96th St location in Stone Harbor that opened in June of this year. It opened in the space of a store carrying mostly beach wear that I used to frequent because everything was on sale after Labor Day. But with that store gone, I wandered into Bird Cage. I really liked what I saw. There was an adorable pink shirt hanging on the door that I fell in love with and my mom bought for me while I was in the dressing room. While I was wandering around I saw some cute beach wear, some fun and funky items especially for young and hip college age women who love to look California cool and different and have the body to do it. The prices were moderate. There was a small sale rack in the back but other than that everything was full price. The afore mentioned shirt was $36, and a pair of tie die lace trimmed casual pull on pants with gold accents was $59. The pants were too long for me, but not getting them out of my mind I returned the next day and took the plunge. The same employee/manager was there both days and I found her very pleasant and helpful. She suggested a pair of pants for me that turned out to be a perfect fit, but not enough to take my mind off those funky cool pants I eventually purchased. I read the comments here about the other location and of course I am concerned about the quality of the items I purchased. I will come back to this review and update, because it will break my heart if I have fallen in love with some cheap Family Dollar quality clothes. For now, my experience with the Stone Harbor location is the employee was very nice and helpful, the clothes were really cute, fun and affordable, at least as boutique beach togs go. I hope they find success in Stone Harbor and move away from the negativity brought by the Sea Isle location and the clothing quality or lack of that some have had to deal with.

Yelp
My group was followed around the store by a blonde older woman, maybe the manager. It seemed pretty obvious she was watching us, every person in my party noticed, even my young niece. She kept harassing us asking to hold our items even though we only had one or two items each. Super uncomfortable. I also saw her tell a woman that a shirt with a clear rip in the collar in it that it was distressed, when not one of the other shirts hanging up had a rip anywhere near the collar. Ironic that she thinks people are being dishonest in the store when she's the outright liar.

Yelp
Stone Harbor location, but same owner everywhere: My daughter decided to spend her saved up beach money on a sweatshirt here. We washed with with other clothes as instructed with tide free and clear. It was the only item in the load that faded. I took it back to exchange and the owner refused to stand by the product. I was surprised and taken aback by that she would not exchange it and send it back to the manufacturer. My family has purchased a lot from this boutique but will not shop here any longer. She said no one else had tried to return it and "imagine if i took back every piece of clothing that someone washed." Um, was not asking for that, just this one that didn't hold up in the wash. I explained if you buy a new car and it immediately and constantly breaks down, that doesn't mean every car should be lemon lawed, but that car needs to be addressed. I'm going to try to contact the manufacturer, but buyer beware. This is the first thing that we have gotten there that has been like this, but judging from the other reviews, we aren't the first customer with this experience. Honestly her cut of the sweatshirt with the mark up was probably $17. Hope she enjoys it because it's the last penny she is getting from us.

Yelp
I love this boutique. I have never had a bad experience like I see in a lot of the other reviews. Employees are always friendly. They have a great selection of clothes, I usually end up getting a great outfit from here to wear out every summer. They also have a lot of cute shoes and accessories. The prices are moderate. Definitely worth checking out whether you're shopping for yourself or needing a gift.

Yelp
Very cute selection and nice staff! Range of prices for relaxed beach wear. I do wish they would change their return policy- no returns only store credit. Also was not a fan of the policy of following people around.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. I usually only post positive things. It this place is a complete joke! My daughter purchased sweat pants and she went in the very next day to exchange them for a diff size and they would not let her!!! The lady was extremely rude and gave my daughter attitude for no reason. She didn't want her money back she just wanted a diff size. They accused her of wearing them when she didn't! Still had tags on and in the bag. Crisp and clean. We love to shop local boutiques but this one will no longer have my business. Good luck BIRDCAGE

Yelp
we went to the store everyone was nice and everyone was nice but the letters where falling of my sweat pants and sweat shirts after I followed the directions on the tag for washing after 2 days and then I got a tiny stain on it and it just is not bugging. this a pretty cheep company would not recommend.

Yelp
100% do not recommend this store. As you can see in the owner's response to a different review, they are clearly unprofessional and unable to recognize their own bias. I am not sure what else would motivate someone to assume the worst in their customers. I frequent boutiques up and down the east coast, and have seen MUCH higher quality for similar cost else where. I would never give my money to a store or business owner who does not honor their word or provide a quality product.

Yelp
Wish I could give zero stars. My sister bought a shirt from Birdcage a few months ago and it ripped immediately. When she brought it back, they offered her store credit in the form of a gift card. Jump forward to yesterday when she went to use the store credit it didn't work. The employee called the owner and the owner openly admitted that she deactivated the gift card aa soon as she left because she didn't believe her that the shirt ripped on its own. So my sister ended up leaving with no store credit and no shirt - basically meaning they stole her money. Would rather shop somewhere where the owner actual cares about their customers. Unprofessional and rude.

Kelly C.

Yelp
The boutique itself has great clothes and jewelry as evidence by me spending 200 in one shipping trip! I'm giving it two stars because of one particular staff member who followed me around like I was going to steal something. Not a very inviting shopping experience, I'm guessing if you don't "look the part" they assume you don't have the money to spend in there! I would've spent another 200 if I wasn't being followed around like a criminal!

Jay A.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Will never shop here again and you shouldn't either. The store employees make you feel uncomfortable if you are not the "stereotypical shopper". They will follow you around the store as you shop. Also was accused by the owner of lying and wanting to cheat her store policy of only refunding store credit. All I wanted was a proper refund or store credit after buying a shirt that feel apart after only wearing it for 1 hours. Now I am out $45 and the shirt.

Yelp
I'm so happy I walked into this shop yesterday. Beautiful clothing and the clearance prices are sending me back tomorrow!
