This joint reminded me of this ramen place I went to in Spain, it is overly decorated with Japanese manga and other Japanese culture themes, they even threw in a little Korean theme in there. It is like walking into an Otaku joint in Akihabara but worse. I wish they actually serve those dishes in the wooden plaques.
We came to try the ramen and see what the chicken broth is all about. Again I am a traditionalist and I love tonkstsu broth with miso, some of the ramen joints in Japan also add a bit of chicken broth in the mix to enhance the sweetness of the broth but not quite all chicken.
The broth here is literally tasted like chicken broth adding whatever flavor combination to it, soy sauce, garlic miso, etc. The base broth lacks depth and mediocre at best, to plain. The noodles are ok, the duck breasts were good, cooked to the right temp, but the wood ear slices were cut way too big.
Now the basic appetizers, agedashi tofu, the potato starch breading was under fried, there goes the "age" part of the dish, it is just gooey, the"dashi" part of the dish is ok, the taste is very light. The Takoyaki was just ok, I barely noticed any octopus in the balls, the batter didn't taste a whole lot like octopus either.
Overall, nothing memorable here, but the prices are reasonable.
