NYC New Restaurant Openings, September 2025 | Eater NY
"A cocktail and listening bar from the Lighthouse BK team, led by Sip & Guzzle’s Steve Schneider, spins records and pours drinks in a moody new hangout." - Nadia Chaudhury
Birds - Review - West Village - New York - The Infatuation
"Birds is—to the surprise of no Charlie Parker fans—a vinyl and jazz bar in the West Village. Full of velvet seating, the place is from some of the people behindSip & Guzzle. But unlike that spot, the cocktails lean mostly classic, and the menu is snacky with things like sandwiches and shrimp cocktail. Check out their opening line-uphere." - Will Hartman
"On a Sunday night I watched Nitzan Gavrieli—red-bearded, in a black suit with no tie—sit at the Fender Rhodes at Birds and play bebop throwbacks like Dizzy Gillespie’s “Groovin’ High” alongside experimental originals (including one inspired by a drive along a Michigan highway) with Grammy-winning bassist Sam Weber and drummer Dan Pugach; opened on Downing Street in September by siblings Naama and Assaf Tamir, the club is a technically excellent space with a low stage that places the audience nearly level with the band, features cocktails designed by Steve Schneider of nearby Sip & Guzzle, and, as general manager Jack Smith says, exudes a real authenticity where you can’t fake the musicianship." - Megan Krigbaum
Great little spot. They play music from records, which is a nice touch, and the decor is cool and artistic. The staff is very friendly.
The happy hour is a good deal ($10 martini and manhattan). The marinated beans were a highlight for us.
We will be back for the live music (starts at 7:30pm) next time.

Great new jazz spot in the village with classic cocktails and a decent food menu. Service is great and customer oriented. Limited seating although we were able to grab seats for walkin at 7ish!

Yelp
Looking for a great jazz bar and great cocktails in the West Village? Look no further, Birds is the place for you!
Perfect for a date night or for a music lover in general, this fantastic new venue is the perfect place to go to indulge in live music and libations from mastermind Steve Schnieder (of Sip&Guzzle and The Odd Couple fame). I was lucky to see the space before it was completed so I am so happy and proud of where it started and what it has now become. Sets are at 7:30 and 9:30pm Wednesday through Sunday nights plus later shows on Fridays and Saturdays and reservations can be made on Resy.
Please note there is a cover charge which supports the incredible artists that perform here. I've been two times already and can't wait for next time!

Yelp
Intimate, jazz. Perfect for a date night or solo time. The pendant lights over the bar are mesmerizing
We take for granted the history of Greenwich Village's art scene. This spot makes it modern.
Lovely venue, with about 30 seats for live music. They have a good variety of players. Drinks are $20 each. Two sets of music each night.
I'll be back, as I love supporting live artist.

Yelp
The New York jazz club scene is having a bit of a run right now with the yutes. Went here after dinner nearby at Minetta Tavern on Saturday around midnight. A tip: After the later set, there is another set, similar to a jam session that goes until 2 am. Enter Birds, from the team behind Sip and Guzzle. This club is really small, but it does what it needs to do. Would come back but sit farther from the stage. Get rid of the wooden ikea chairs and it would be perfect. The band playing that particular evening was a trio with the special guests of a singer and a trumpet player. They were really good, playing an eclectic mix featuring jazz and funk covers of D'Angelo, SWV, Cat Stevens and Roy Hargrove.
